    BEST ADVICE: Before you strike anyone in public, if at all possible, keep warning them LOUDLY to "STOP STAY BACK I DO NOT WANT TO FIGHT"! This will be heard by others and could be helpful if you are arrested or sued. It may sound silly to shout those warning out loud but as a Police Training Officer I can assure you that it can help you. Officers are often trained to ask you "WHAT CAN I POSSIBLY DO TO GET YOU TO COOPERATE"? before the Ass-Kicking begins! You are not a coward to use this technique, just covering your ass before you beat their ass!

      Well I'm still feeling a kick to the groin (in training, groin guard jammed upward) from a crushed epididymis over 20 years later. Dropped immediately tears streaming from eyes, no, not crying, as a result apparently. Testicle spasm is not good. Luckily they knew what to do and instant relief but lasting damage. All I can say is that if you have a confrontation that is unavoidable you have to have been mentally prepared beforehand. You need to realize that if you’re an older person or smaller in stature that there’s no rules. You have to be lethal and ready and willing to do whatever it takes. If you’re overcome and helpless at best they leave and you have hospital bills. Your injuries may put you out of work. While you’re lying there maybe they take your wallet. Now they know where you and your family live. At worst they take your life. Avoid trouble if you can but if you’re facing someone who is becoming violent don’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed. Don’t be another victim.

    These moves are great UNLESS you miss. My advice, based on experience, would be that once you make the decision to strike then have it in your mind to throw MULTIPLE strikes because if you just throw ONE strike & you miss then you really could be in trouble. If your first strike hits the target then all fine & good BUT in my own experience it can be that the third or fourth strike thrown CAN be the first one to actually land. This is especially true if you happen to be on a night out when trouble flares & you've had a drink or three.

      Every technique is bad if you miss. Did anybody say that these techniques cannot have a backup plan, or does that only apply to all the techniques you already knew?

  • @DubS3332
    @DubS3332 2 місяці тому +198

    Don’t let the guy get in your face in the first place. Control the distance. All the strikes you demonstrated could be effective but they could also be just enough to piss the guy off. If he’s a good fighter with good instincts and quick reflexes you might just find yourself in a world of hurt.
    In my opinion these techniques are more suited for an attacker who’s not really all that motivated and who’s not really a good fighter and you should always assume that every opponent is a good fighter. I wouldn’t advise anyone to include this in their arsenal unless they have additional training that can equip them to respond to an elevated threat. Because that’s exactly what these tactics will do…elevate the threat level in most cases.
    The groin strike and eye poke can be devastating unless you miss your target… The throat strike only has a high percentage of effectiveness if you put body weight behind it, which the instructor in this video did not do. Even for someone with many years of training and expertise in self defense the number one form of self defense is diplomacy.
    Never let someone get that close up on you in a confrontation unless you are prepared to grapple.
    What would I do? Leave. Just walk away before it even escalates to the point where he’s in my face. Even if you’re carrying a weapon. Just leave. If you strike first it’s not self defense. Now you have a variety of expensive legal issues to contend with depending on the law where the fight takes place. Say you strike him and he falls hits his head and dies? Or what if he has a heart attack and dies? “Your honor he got in my face so I did a move that I learned on UA-cam. I didn’t know he was gonna hit his head and die”. “No your honor, he didn’t hit me first. The self defense expert on UA-cam said it was a good idea to hit him in the balls and kick him in the head for breathing in my face.”
    Sir you and all other self defense experts should preface your presentation by encouraging viewers to seek out in-person professional self defense training. Let them know that due to a thing called muscle memory they would need to drill these and any other techniques at least 1000 times before they even have a shot of executing them properly in a high stress situation. Tell them to research the laws in the area where they reside. Otherwise, you’re gonna get some soccer dad killed or incarcerated. My 2¢

    • @raullm6820
      @raullm6820 2 місяці тому +23

      Thanks for the feedback indeed.
      I disagree about the throat punch, the danger is actually the opposite ... Causing more damage than initially intended as some people are pointing out in this chat.
      Totally agree about awareness, de-escalation, avoidance and leaving the place.... But sadly not always all of it is a possibility if someone really wants to assault you... The same applies to distance control as you can be indoors with not a lot of room of maneuver.
      Finally, this video is about trying to avoid KO strikes limiting the damages... I personally rather have to deal with a judge in court than my head being the one smashed against the floor in any case.

    I used to get into fights all the time as a teenager. I studied martial arts for about 8 years, and realised about 3-4 years in, I wasn't getting into fights anymore. Why? I'd back off. Even run. I did live in a violent place and fist fights were kinda normal. But I'd grown up and realised my masculinity wasn't based on my ability to hurt someone.
    Once as an adult, someone attacked me without warning and after shaking off the first punch I went ballistic. I wasn't flexible, I was pretty old and I wasn't fit. But the training took over and I kicked his arse. But that person was in my doorway and I saw red having someone attack me basically in my home. I should have backed off, slammed the door in his face. All I managed, apart from beating someone up, was the police telling me I couldn't press charges unless I wanted to accept a counter charge of assault. And my whole body ached for days. I secretly enjoyed the domination of someone who had no right to attack me in my doorway but life is too short for that nonsense. Unless you live in a violent place, chances are you'll never be in a situation you can't run from and even then...
    If you're training because you enjoy it, fill your boots. It's great exercise and good for your self-confidence. I wasn't particularly enjoying myself once I achieved a certain level, and I'm glad I stopped.

Sure, in later life it's saved my bacon several times, each time, leaving the protagonist with little more than a sore wrist/neck and a bruised ego. However, the biggest impact on my personal safety was the fact that we trained on a Friday night and then socialised as a group afterwards in the bar, basically avoiding the the places and situations that were getting my mates into drunken Friday night scuffles and glassing attacks.

    • @dttrandom
      @dttrandom 2 місяці тому +2

      @@cosmicdebris2223 You can be a little off as long as you're not punching a little high and hitting the bottom of the sternum, which is the usually the most likely way to miss. Being off a bit left or right will still have effect, and being off a bit low would be best if you are to miss. Test it on yourself by making a fist and slightly pressing in on your own solar plexus and then pressing on various spots a couple of inches away in all directions and you'll be able to feel how far and where you can be off from direct center.

And you don't want to get bitten by a human. Even not if they brush their teeth regularly. Besides the pain human bites are even more likely to give you deseases than bites of cats. Even you're controling them frum under the nose they'll flip the head about 45° and they're able to bite your palm or arm. Dangerous areas are nose, chin, throat and if you go for just one ear. You either want to go for both ears, for the forehead, eyes or hold on just for a moment and then go for somewhere else....

    Derren Brown has an unusual method of self defence. He relates a story which happened to him one late night when a drunk, angry guy started shouting at him threatening violence for no reason and he was definitely going to get a kicking!
    Instead of any physical altercation, Derren shouted the most random thing he could think of at the guy which happened to be “The wall outside my house is only 3 feet high”!
    The drunk guy stopped dead in his tracks, looked puzzled and was completely and totally mentally disarmed. He could no longer keep up his abusive tirade and immediately starting talking back and started asking questions himself.
    After a while the guy even poured his heart out to Brown and they ended up talking for hours. 😊

      Ha! By "conceal carriers," you mean scaredy-cats, right? Although a gun owner, I simply do not have the level of insecurity it would take to carry that thing around all the time. Keep yourself in shape, mind your surroundings, and learn to effectively communicate: and carrying a weapon becomes nothing but pure fear.
      Let's say you and I are in an argument we can't seem to resolve. At some point, one of us has to walk away. But before I can, if I were to catch a peek of that thing hiding in your belt, or if I see you about to reach, I'm (instead) going into survival mode. Trust me, it wouldn't bode well for you if I were to catch you with a "companion tool," and as things escalate, I WILL be watching your hands for it.
      Don't overestimate an artificially-granted strength. My advice is to drop the bravado and accept one's physical limitations. Fill the hole from lost youth with the wisdom of restraint, because carrying a weapon just ends up positioning a person for a disaster confrontation. It's ironic that you'd even use the word "avoid" in that comment.

      @@raullm6820 so you're saying set aside ego IF you can avoid the confrontation. that's what most people believe: if there's no problem then you dont need ego. if there is a problem, ego might be your friend and help you defend yourself. the problem with this is that ego is usually the thing that gets you into a confrontation, and even if it's not, it's wrong to believe that ego could help you get out. ego is always the problem. it lies to you and plays with your imagination. you can turn it off but most people prefer to believe what the ego tells them
      i know what you're thinking. you're just talking about the UNAVOIDABLE CONFRONTATION. like in the movies. the totally random situation you had nothing to do with where you're ambushed and now you're trapped in a confrontational situation that you had no choice about getting into and that you cant escape without violence
      what i'm telling you is that whole thing is a product of ego. in the whole history of the cosmos, there has never been a random event ever, not on any scale from the largest star to the most minute sub-atomic, sub-quark, sub-gravitational wave-particle. no matter how you slice it, every single thing has happened for a reason
      you make choices, and consequences flow. you know where to walk if you dont wanna be ambushed, and you know where to walk if you want trouble. the ego tells you you're entitled to go where you know there's trouble. so you go there and there's trouble. that's a choice
      acting without ego is not just about not-believing in hurt feelings. it's more fundamentally about doing what you know is right instead of what you know is wrong
      the truth is always known, and you always have a choice to heed or ignore it

      Thanks for sharing this👍🏻 as Raul said above it's not that the headbutt isn't effective (it's incredibly effective) it's that to most people, it's seen as a nuclear option in the same way as punching, some people are just not mentally prepared to go there.
