When I first began collecting I just got whatever caught my eye but then settled quickly into hoyas. I'm limited on space and have pretty much no useable natural light, so hoyas make the most sense as they can stay pretty compact on a trellis and the variety is limitless. I LIVE for your hoyas videos, they're not boring at all, keep them coming!! Love your content as always ❤️
I've always loved hoyas, starting as a kid and seeing my grandmother's hoya hanging in her kitchen window. That same plant was just passed to a cousin of mine and I hope to get a cutting next time i visit. I bought my first hoya in 1998 and recently gave it - a Krimson princess - to a friend of mine after having her for almost 25 years. These days I have about 80-some hoyas; not a ton but they are my favorite plant genus and always will be. I love your videos Kevin. Thanks so much!
I did not understand the Hoya hype initially when I began collecting. In 2018 though something changed and I suddenly could see how beautiful and interesting they are. Now I want them all 😊 Best of luck with selling your props. I wish I were in Canada, I’ve seen a few of your props I’d like to own 💚
Hi Kevin! Will you come back to us with a follow-up video on the success rate of this perlite method? I literally fail basically at 80% of attempts of propagation when it comes to hoyas. thanks!!!
Have you tried Strawberry Forks for keeping cuttings secured in the cups? They are little plastic U-shaped stakes that keep cuttings/stems/etc pinned to the substrate. They are known by another official name, but you can find them everywhere under that term. I recently had an accident like you did with your archboldiana. So I am trying to propagate bare nodes from the long stem as well! I would love it if you updated on those along with your other cuttings! Thanks again for the video :)
I said that I would never buy an Hoya and here I am with several of them. In my defense many of them were gifted 😅 I like them cause they are easy. They like to dry out and that's perfect for me. Are they just as beautiful as an aroid, naah but they are definitely easier 😅
Def not a boring video! Thanks for sharing and teaching us about all the beautiful kinds of hoya! I have one Hoya, and I don’t see myself getting a new one in the future unless I find something really special. They’re beautiful plants!
Kevin you're such a sweetheart will you please stop saying it's boring trust me it's not boring if that many people come back and watching you will love you will love whatever you do it's very interesting and I love Hoyas because of you so please we always waiting for them stay healthy be happy peace
I loooove prop videos, don't think this is boring! I also think you have pretty unique Hoyas, I haven't heard of a lot of these. I only have like 3 Hoyas but I mainly got into them because of their amazing sun stressing!
I can't wait to see them root.I just don't see you panicking in a crowd, your so open and talkative and friendly.I see you talking to everyone.Great video and I liked hearing how you got into hoyas.Thank you for sharing.
Started off with ariods, philodendrons and syngonium. Didn't like Hoyas at first then I got one, now I have 6 LOL Next one on the list is lacunosa leopard skin. Might be interested in buying a gunung gading
Hi Kevin🎉🎉🎉🎉 yes I would buy all your cuttings if I could , I live in Ontario Ca . I have an eye on your Nova Ghost and Strawberry Shake!!!!! Just wanted to let you know my 4 year son Sebastian says” it’s KEVIN” every video we watch !!!
We are so much the same when we propagate! I fall in love with the babies & sometimes have a really hard time selling them. Sometimes you just get attached to leaves or to a vine & it's just so hard to think that someone else is going to grow your babies!! lol!!! To answer the question, I was into to the typical aroids first but, when I saw a compacta, I was bitten with the Hoya bug. I started collecting any of them I could. I think it has been since 2020 & I have definitely accumulated some fun ones. I want the sulawesiana too! I know I didn't spell that right but, I'm not looking it up. I think there is an outer variegated one too!! What! Like they say, they really are like Pokemon & we need to catch them all!
I'd be interested in some of your Hoya cuttings, depending on the price of course 😉 I'm not too far from Toronto. You have so many beautiful Hoya and enjoy your videos and all the great info you share. Thanks Kevin
Your hoyas are beautiful!! For me I am a die-hard orchid grower first and foremost, after that I am Miss Hoya Head, I LOVE THEM!! Currently I have 17 and there will be more to come!!!
I wasn't really drawn to hoyas at first, until I discovered the variegated compacta. I've had to get my hands on every hoya I could find since😂 Nova ghost is one on my wishlist, I would totally be interested in purchasing and I'm just outside Toronto Keep the hoya vids coming, I love them!!
I love watching your Hoya videos. You’ve introduced me to a wider variety of Hoyas. I hope they all grow for you making for a successful Hoya sale. And don’t try to keep all the babies. A follow up video on all these cuttings would be lovely.
Love this! I bought a silver lacunosa and the soil was soooo wet and I could see the plant starting to rot.. Its hard propogating them because the leaves are not far apart.. I am going to the SOOS this weekend and I will pickup my hoya spartioides that I bought from CSN.. Its a bit frightening for me to go out but I am going to do it and see all the amazing plants there.. Thanks for another awesome video! And ABSOLUTELY would love to buy some of your hoya.... 💚🌿
I started wanting calatheas and philodendrons but never pulled the trigger for philodendrons. Hoyas came later. The Hoya Bella was my first one. I think I have about 10-12. They’re scattered about three rooms, so I don’t know exactly.
My very 1st hoya was hindu rope and of course it died. The nursery I bought it from didn't know what it was which is probably why I got such a full pot for a steal. All I knew is if reminded me of curly hair and I have curly hair
I started out with a little of everything but now I’m over monsteras and philodendron, still love anthurium but have all I have room for and now I’m obsessed with Hoya and only Hoya.
I've only ever had one Hoya. I don't even remember what it was as it was years ago. I loved it even though it never bloomed for me. Now I see so many that I want! Unfortunately, I am sooo limited on space it isn't even funny! I have no idea where I would squeeze in even one more plant, but I'm constantly thinking on it! I NEED MORE!
I am a hoya person. Started out with them, stuck with them. I don't have aeroids or syngoniums or any of the other popular varieties. I have a small collection of Orchids, a few cacti and dracaena, but the large majority are hoya.
not boring! and wow you were brave to cut those beauties! i started with succulents, cacti and monsteras then got into anthuriums, philos and then hoya which i think are my fav 🫣 what’s worst is that there are so many of them! but i love them all! even the weird ones that look dead! 🤭
Also how long did it take your archboldiana to show the white edges?? Mine is pushing her 4th set of leaves and none of the leaves that have grown with me have a white edge. :(
OMG, that wasn't boring at all! In fact, I really wish I lived in Canada as I don't have any of the hoyas you cut up today. They all look so happy and healthy. I have actually been collecting anthuriums, philodendrons, alocasias, and orchids at the same time as hoyas, though I have many many more hoyas than the other kinds of plants because it's just so easy to buy a bunch of cuttings in little containers and watch them grow. Thank you for another great hoya episode! Keem 'em comin'! ;)
Hi Kevin, loved your videos. Very informative and entertaining. I’ve always been into blooming plants and Hoyas are the ones. I would love to buy some Hoyas from you. Hoya Polyneura outer variegated and Hoya Insularis are my interests for now. Not much space in my apt but I’ll make room😂. I live in Vancouver BC but my daughter lives in Ontario. Let me know Thank you.
You just gave me an idea. I have a few Hoyas that are doing nothing obavata, mycrophilla and a rosita that got frozen during delivery. I think I’m going to try Leca.I’ve never used leca so fingers crossed.
how much water do you place in your props in perlite ? and where did you end up placing them . what conditions ? Do your prop bins have air holes? is the Lid off or on ?
Hi Kevin. You posted this 10 hours ago and have been holding off watching till now cause I needed something to smile about before going to bed, so thank you for making me not only smile but lol. I am definitely not… well maybe could possibly come to like Hoyas at least there are a couple that have caught my eye, but to be honest been a bit put off by flat mites. I know am eventually gonna have to deal with pests but those flat mites are invisible and that is terrifying to me. Anyway now I’m gonna have nightmares after talking pests 😂🤣
I love your out loud inner monologue lol! Also I laughed so hard when you said “I haven’t bought a plant since… umm… ok…their is a secret plant” 😂 I always feel like I haven’t bought plants in forever but it’s been a month 😅
Gosh you're soooo ruthless with your props! Or I am just too stingy 😆😆 i was definitely more of a philo girl when I got into houseplants but Hoyas have earned their own cabinet now if that says anything 😅
My first hoya was an impulse purchase splashy pubicalyx I saw at a ceramics and plant shop in my area at the end of last summer. I'm primarily a succulent collector and heard that hoya are similar in care to them, which, imho, is a huge LIE. LOL
I started with monsteras then philos then Hoyas and just last week bought my first Antherium I’d be interested if you opened it up too US I’d pay the extra shipping costs
This video was everything but boring!! I found it so interesting, i do propagate my hoyas in pon and if i see any root rot they go into perlite for a few week and once they buonce back, back to pon. I was into aroid first then a friend of mine who has hoyas made me discover this amazing world 😂! I live in a shoe box parisian appartement so they are so convinient! Those says i m only buying hoya and for my birthday i am going to ask if a cutting of a guinea ghost is ok for my parents ( they are also into plants since forever , i introduce my mother to the world of anthurium 😆 and my father is a propagation person 😂😂)!
I just love you and your videos!!!!!!!! You're just so adorable and your plants are gorgeous!!! I watch a ton of them, then I go back and watch them again!!!! I am about to follow you on instagram, I am just now super good on that platform
When I first began collecting I just got whatever caught my eye but then settled quickly into hoyas. I'm limited on space and have pretty much no useable natural light, so hoyas make the most sense as they can stay pretty compact on a trellis and the variety is limitless.

I love it, it’s not boring. 25:01
I have had to slow down on Hoyas.
I am so into anthuriums now. It’s crazy. I have bought so many seeds…. I have trays of seedlings….
Hi Kevin! Will you come back to us with a follow-up video on the success rate of this perlite method? I literally fail basically at 80% of attempts of propagation when it comes to hoyas. thanks!!!
Hoya propagation is literally the best… I’m gonna see what I can chop while I finish watching! You e inspired me ✂
My first "bought" plant was a hoya... im not in Canada but I wanna buy and support. I'm only hours away from border 😉
Have you tried Strawberry Forks for keeping cuttings secured in the cups? They are little plastic U-shaped stakes that keep cuttings/stems/etc pinned to the substrate. They are known by another official name, but you can find them everywhere under that term.

I swear it was you who made me start liking hoyas 😭😭😭
let us know when you’re selling I would love to get one from you
Another amazing video, not knowing what to talk about seems to always turn into a great conversation lol thank you 😊
I didn’t get people who like Hoya ….strange bunch 😂 now I’m a Hoya head 😂😂

Welcome to the weird. We’re happy to have you. 🪴🤗

I use those same cups and perlite for my Hoya props but I cut a drainage hole. I’m so afraid of rot. Buuuut drying out is bad too… so whatever works!
Hoya polyneura was my gateway Hoya. 4 yrs later and I still love them 💚
I can't wait to see them root.I just don't see you panicking in a crowd, your so open and talkative and friendly.I see you talking to everyone.Great video and I liked hearing how you got into hoyas.Thank you for sharing.

I'm really happy to be canadian and I love hoyas. So its a YES from me to buy from you when available. Thanks for sharing you plants with us.
I would buy from you, Kevin!! If only I were in Canada 💔😭
Your hoyas are beautiful!! For me I am a die-hard orchid grower first and foremost, after that I am Miss Hoya Head, I LOVE THEM!! Currently I have 17 and there will be more to come!!!
it's weird that i'm very into philodendrons.. but now im hoya hoya all the way

I got into Hoya with a compacta - one of my first plants. Now I have over 30 varieties. I'm also in TO and I would totally consider buying props.
I have preferred Hoyas for over 20+ years... I am new however, to the vast varieties of them.
I started out with a little of everything but now I’m over monsteras and philodendron, still love anthurium but have all I have room for and now I’m obsessed with Hoya and only Hoya.

YAYYYYYY 💚
U have made me want to try out Hoyas! What do you recommend for a beginner Hoya head?
I am a hoya person. Started out with them, stuck with them. I don't have aeroids or syngoniums or any of the other popular varieties. I have a small collection of Orchids, a few cacti and dracaena, but the large majority are hoya.

Just getting into Hoyas. Looking for a reference book on Hoyas. I live in Alabama and I would love to purchase Hoyas from you but I don't think I can.
Hoyas rule 💚💚💚 I can't wait for another hoya video 💚💚💚
I have my other plants that I love but the only new plants that made my wish list are hoya! In Ontario and interested if you end up selling ❤
I grew up with the hoya love from my grandma. Before she died she gave me a hoya carnosa wich is older than me ♥️
ITS NOT BORING AT ALL😍
Definitely interested in the New Guinea Ghost FOR SURE! 😍......and maybe a few more. LOL. Im in BC.

Hi kevin! Did you wash the perlite before using it for props?
I love your out loud inner monologue lol! Also I laughed so hard when you said “I haven’t bought a plant since… umm… ok…their is a secret plant” 😂 I always feel like I haven’t bought plants in forever but it’s been a month 😅
I'd love to buy a cutting from the new guinea ghost and I'm in Canada!
Where do you sell your cuttings? Do you have a website?
Hoya hoya eeekkkk
When I see a Hoya video, I click 😂
Gosh you're soooo ruthless with your props! Or I am just too stingy 😆😆 i was definitely more of a philo girl when I got into houseplants but Hoyas have earned their own cabinet now if that says anything 😅

If your Canadian subs don’t want to buy your Hoyas, I’ll buy them & I’m in the USA.
I started with monsteras then philos then Hoyas and just last week bought my first Antherium
I’d be interested if you opened it up too US I’d pay the extra shipping costs
Wow! You did a lot of propagation😅👍I enjoyed watching😊🙏💖
I'm late to the party here, but I'm in downtown TO, and I'd buy from you.
I would absolutely buy from you. I'm in Ontario 🤗
I used to hate Hoyas because they would all die on me then I tried pon and now I have 30🤣

Do you ship to the US? Washington? Were practically neighbors 😄
As someone from the US, I'm so sad I cant purchase any cuttings ;(
I love Hoya not so much philodendrons
Me too
3-2-1!
I just love you and your videos!!!!!!!! You're just so adorable and your plants are gorgeous!!! I watch a ton of them, then I go back and watch them again!!!! I am about to follow you on instagram, I am just now super good on that platform
Yeah, so I started with the typical aroid obsession, and you have created a monster. I never had interest in Hoyas at all until I saw a clemensiorium.
💚💚💚💚💚
