this demo is pretty amazing. I played like 20 hours of it alone and still come back. The system already in place are loads of fun, and once variety opens up I can already imagine the possibilities.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the parallels to extraction shooters like Tarkov, because this game does something I genuinely want to see more extraction shooters do: It lets you extract whenever you want. (As long as you have an amulet charge, anyway...)
Citadel, and Beyond Citadel have layered billboard sprites, to include the main character and her armor on the HUD. The demo just released, like, a month ago. High quality, and would recommend if you like this game, Quake, and Doom.
@@Shedovvnah, it’s an insanely common meme format. Even if you aren’t terminally online you’d have heard it a few times. Props for being terminally not online though. Not even being sarcastic
I've been playing a lot of 40k tabletop in the last 6-9 monthes so I pretty much just stopped playing video games entirely but I am buying this game and playing the shit out of it when it releases, I cant wait.
Rotate could also be the scroll wheel. Not saying it is, but some games with building have startedusing it for that function. And forgot to put it in the control menu so people knew it was possible. lol
I’m not big into either Boomer Shooters or Roguelike FPSes but this seems interesting enough and their tech solutions are just too clever. Thanks, Splat.
This was an easy add to the wishlist, I hope you do a follow up when a bigger version drops. Edit: I went and played the demo expecting only goblins and got jump scared by a ghost
i wouldn't call it like tarkov as much as it still has some extraction elements and it is clearly made by someone who loves gun design I really enjoyed the demo
I think the most important thing is to add in all those additional objectives that make the world feel alive in that metroidvania kinda way. I think kids might but more inclined to say Hollow Knight-ish?
Not my favorite aesthetic or game genre but it looks like a pretty neat game and I appreciate that they're trying something different. Seems a little unfinished like the cooking mechanics should be available to you, if not at the first cook pot at least by the second or third, and the neat little nooks that you can get to with tricky jumping are a missed opportunity for loot.
Speaking of cheese -- get some pecorino, sliced really thin, some prosciutto and wrap them around chunks of melon. If I understand correctly, Pecorino is the un-aged/"green" (not green colored) cheese that becomes Romano when aged. Great video. I might play the game. it's a type i'm not good at (old man fingers) so I'll probably find a playthrough on the tubeys.
Italian person here ready to assist. Pecorino comes from the word pecora, which means sheep. Pecorino is a kind of cheese that is made from sheep milk. Romano is the adjective from Roma, which is the city Rome. A "romano cheese" is a cheese that is made in rome or in areas that are allowed to make it in that way.
@@raidermaxx2324 Parmesan, which comes from Parmigiano Reggiano, is neither pecorino, nor romano. Parmigiano Reggiano is a specific kind of cheese that is made only in a small part of northern Italy. I believe it is the single most exported cheese in the world, although I might be wrong.
@@MattHatter360 parmesan and pecorino are both similar hard cheeses that are salted. And oftentimes used as a "grated" compliment .. Games with really tight-feeling platforming, even 2D ones, allow you to jump slightly after falling off a ledge. Could be an improvement for this game.

yo splattercat you heard of that successor to void bastards coming out at some point wild bastards its called. also maybe check out gloomwood, I'm interested in it after playing blood west i came upon it in a craze wanting more like that but I'm not sure if i should spring for it.
frankly, i think that's closer to a bergmann simplex rather than the mauser, but it's clearly more of a "general shape of these things" than actually replicating one, even cartoonily and the thing you called a revolver despite it not... revolving... is an interesting and weird appplication of the "harmonica gun" idea.
Whenever people talk about Tarkov in comparison to other games it sounds like an amazing experience but whenever people talk about Tarkov by itself it sounds unplayable due to hackers so how bad is that problem really?
I honestly haven’t seen it and maybe it’s because it’s so hardcore I never think someone was hacking but I’ve had a blast this wipe and it’s my first wipe of playing tarkov
"The power of the nut is flowing through me." ~ Splattercat 2024 Best laugh i have had this year.
I dunno, Splatty dressed up as a priest molesting corpses is pretty bad ;)

I followed this game dev on Twitter but hadn't seen anything for a while! It came out great, thanks for showcasing it splat.
Cool game, major Slasher’s Keep vibes
Splat!!! I love adventure time and actually crave video games with that aesthetic. Bring me more and I shall purchase them

I love how you made han solo gun
Can tell dude is a dev. Love how you sort of explain how certain mechanics or animations work. Subbbbbbed
The art in this game is just great.
Enemy variety is something that can definitely be done 'last', but that core loop looks good.
I have never played a boomer shooter with layered billboard sprites, and the amount of them I have played would be too long to list.
Ive been genuinely waiting for it to happen and wondered why not sooner
Yeah, would be interesting to add something like that to Doom.

Very much not a boomer shooter
@@elephaux5671 Nobody said this game was one.
The two layer sprite+gore system is really brilliant.
Im enjoying this aesthetic. Game looks really good and fun
I agree the sword needs more flick, slow to start, and then snapping to the side, quick clean strike
THank you I need more like this in my recommendations, looking forward to full release!
This game looks rad as hell. So smooth
man I adore how this game looks, and it looks like it plays very well too! Super excited to see the full release sometime this year.
I really hope Splatter does a series on this when it comes out game looks like so much fun
"Adventure's time" ? Shut up and take my money !! XD
Excellent references, Splat.

I tried this game out and its pretty bad ass. Cant wait for more content
The Wakizashi is also usable as a weapon and saves you a lot of ammunition when enemies get close to you.
FYI Desiccation is the state of extreme dryness. Love your videos too!
That, “It might be doodoo” was a great reference. I heard the original in my head right after you said it.
Was that a Dave Chappele reference?
Love your stuff! You always find the coolest games, I've played a few at your recommendation! Thanks!
charming artstyle!
finally!!! I was waiting for you to cover this!!!
Games like this are why i watch you
I love games like this where there's exploration combat loud variety at that point story would be nice but the gameplay goodness is covered already.
Go and play High on Life!
I love the Adventure Time look! Thanks for showing this game, with a bit more polish I think it'll be fantastic
Thanks! I have tried the demo on Linux using Proton and it works quite well. Added it to my wishlist
Steam deck or just a pc running Linux?

I don't know about eating random mushrooms found in a cave, especially not colorful ones.

17:05 That looks suspicioualy like a Shoggoth. CDDA type.
with regards to the sprite technique. Many flash games did that back in the day.
This game looks fucking sick and adventure time is definitely one of the best cartoons of all time.
It’s also possible 6:32 the bilboarding is using actual 3d characters too.

Love the look. 😀
That "random" symbol on the walls and the logo of the game is the alchemy symbol for the chemical element Sulfur :)
This does look pretty fun, crazy enough even though it does need more tile variety, still seems to have more variety than Starfield...
