What is the best and most inexpensive scan tool on the market today for W211 owners? Look no further than the iCarsoft MB V2.0. I bought this scan tool on Amazon for only $145 (May 2024 Pricing) and it has proven to be a great value. So far it has allowed access to all of the systems I wanted to check out and scan.
My local dealership now charges 1.5hrs labor TO START for any diagnostic. This equates to $298 plus tax here in Fairfield county, Connecticut as of May 2024.
Other more robust factory options include Xentry and MB Star of course. For most owners I think the low cost of entry with the iCarsoft scan tool is probably a good place to start. Let the community know your experiences with either in the comment section below!

what area did you go to to be able to turn on the compressor

You don't "turn on" the compressor directly, but really it's more like deleting the trouble code for the HVAC which prevents the compressor from turning on.
