Brilliant. I have one of these but was not aware that I could download more vehicle models free of charge. I only have the one car but it will be useful when I come to change it.
Attention Important: The CR Pro can only operate vehicles that were built up to around 2016/2017. For all newer vehicles you need the CR Pro + (until around 2021/22). No lifetime free updates... There haven't been any updates for this for a long time. Only for the system, but not for the vehicle files. Unfortunately, I fell for it too. If you want a more sustainable OBD scanner, you'll probably have to go for Launch, Autel or something similar. A pity.
Good video mate. You are spot on.. It is the best Used for my all mercers, the Jag, and the Insignia VXR it saved me thousands all ready. It can go so deep in all.the modules acuation test especially the new V3.0 Never visting workshops for diagnose.they cant be trusted say what you will its a fact.
You just save me a lot of money!! Thumbed and subbed! Passing your vid on to as many people as I can! FYSA to all. One thing to bear in mind if you clear a code, and the failure was not fixed, it will typically still trip the fault code again. I've done this in the past to get an idea of the fault/fail rate on things like coil packs. They can misfire one time and not do it again for months or longer. If your funds are limited, it can sort of give you an idea of how soon you will need to finally fix the problem. O2 sensors are another one.
Hi Best tutorial I have found so far. One suggestion only, make sure that the text on the device can be read on the video. One question; if I clear a fault without attending to the hardware, will the fault simply come back again? Does that confirm that the module in question is indeed faulty?

I have another model and all it does is say cannot connect or read anything. On a newish sprinter and has not been any use to me. It has not got the F1 F2 buttons but otherwise looks the same, I bought it with the MB software installed.
Great info. I have the V2 Por. As you see, I bought the Porsche one. I can't seem to download the other models, as I also have a BMW and a Skoda. Can I do it with this icarsoft model. I think when I put in the serial no. and the code no. it stops it. I believe that you had the Merc icarsoft model ?

Hi there and thanks! The differences between version 2 to version 3 is the level of functionality such as airbag crash data reset and many other items. The difference between the two versions in terms of price is minimal I would definitely get the version 3

Hi GrooveOn, great helpful video.I have a Mercedes 2008 R320 and have been looking at one of these for a while now, as i have an issue with the ABS/ESP and cruise control function lights come on when i go over 65mph and stay on. but stopping the car and switching it off then clears the problem. I'm assuming this devise will help find the issue.
Also the cruise is linked to your abs and traction i think, so if one item is at fault it will cause the others to go into fault. The icarsoft should tell you if an abs sensor is faulty. Good luck.!

Ha! If you are working on the SBC (brakes) without disabling the SBC module, you may not get a fault, but you may crush a finger. The SBC needs to be disabled before any brake pad or caliper work.
Can I ask for an honest answer please……can you tell me which scan tool is better this one or the Autel MK808. I know it’s more expensive but is it better . Great video by the way.
I do not have an Autel however the reviews are very good. With that said the price tag is about 5 times higher, so I guess it comes down to your frequency of use, if you only have 1 or 2 cars and just want the occasional diagnostic then use the icarsoft, if you change cars more often then spend a bit It more and go for the Autel, which is what I intend to do!

I do have the same tool. You cannot change them once you downloaded them. Their server remembers which car type has been installed under your serial number. So with this device you have to pay attention, and only download what you really need. I do have 3 different cars in the family, so i downloaded only those 3, i have 7 left in case i buy a car in the future from again different manufacturer. If you would be able to change the cars any time, than basically you would own the CR Pro version with unlimited cars, but iCarsoft doesn't want that of course, since CR Pro is more expensive.
I bought the CR Pro & got lucky reading somewhere online prior to receiving it that when you do your initial setup connected to a PC & software/firmware updates, you have only that ONE opportunity to decide all the vehicle brands you want to add to the device. As a result, I downloaded every brand that was available, since the memory requirements (even with 3 languages selected for ALL), did not cause any capacity issues. I hope iCarSoft updates this capability (they should put a big warning sticker on the display, so users are aware, imho), because it would be very disappointing to learn after downloading only 1,2, or 3 brands to the device, that you were locked out from adding any more. Booo.

Hi there If your icarsoft is version allows then you can update the other brands when you use the pc as per my video, by selecting what brands you would like. However if you have bought an icarsoft that is for one car brand, then it's not possible. Hope this explains.

I need one of these devices for my Mercedes and I was wondering if you may possibly know if you can use the device to enable certain car specific functionality that should be on the car as standard. For example, I have flood lights on the door mirrors that do not currently work. Also, the windows should be able to be closed via the key fob. In regards to enabling items such as the door lights, I don't recall there being an option on the car dash menu to turn off / on and like wise the iCarsoft I do not believe has an option. You can check a lot of details on the icarsoft such as the keyless go features and ABS , Steering, emissions etc etc, However if you want to get more of a two way set up perhaps look for the icarsoft CR Max. I am thinking of getting an Autel Maxicom 808 that can program keys ! As for the channel growth, it takes time and effort, but if you like what you do then go for it. I found that I had posted 9+ years ago just to help explain things on car forums and over time those videos without me knowing gained a lot of views, then about 2 years I got more serious and started to look to getting the 1000 subscribers and make a channel with the goal to help people and save them money! I have not got intsagram but think I need to branch out. I'll have a look at your channel, try a few different video subjects then focus on what is most popular! This info is provided in detail with UA-cam Studio and the analytics that you get to evaluate. Good Luck !

Like you said it can't configure MB coded car functions but at least I can maintain the car better with the code reader. I have been running my channel for about 2 years now and while I enjoy what I do (including the video editing) I am a little disappointed in the rate of growth of the channel. It is very bespoke to a small portion of the population so, to coin a phrase "it is what it is" 🤷♂️ Having said that, I have one video that is outstanding in its performance and that was totally unexpected. So, like you suggested I maybe should try more like that. The trouble is that the core channel content is different from the high performance video. Ha haa, such is the way of things. hi 48SPOKES I've just watched your video on Rotoflex hub, great stuff, you sound just like the actor Sean Bean! genuine, honest delivery which I think works well. I thought I would give some feedback if thats okay, I am no expert, but I have discovered from the analytics that I get through UA-cam studio what helps me and what does not. This information is on how people skip through the video, the demographic, what points on the video people watched the most amongst much more. Firstly you have a good niche with classic cars, which you will find your audience will be of a certain age and from certain countries, mainly UK / USA I would think. I like the use of music and speeded up video and the 'music bed' on the 'dull' bits as it keeps peoples interest and you have good camera set up angle too, remember to avoid looking at yourself in the screen, always look right down the 'barrel of the lens' not the screen as your people will notice your eye's. Your popular video's are around powder coating, welding, remember that even though you and I know about whats involved, many people do not and definitely do not have the equipment at home, so you could look at doing some advice videos as this subject as they had a lot of views on your channel! Heres what I would change: Try and avoid needing to explain what your video is about, remember that people will know from being able to search and find the video in the first place, as well as your description. Try and go straight in with whats known as 'teaser' shots to entice your audience, short 1-2 sec cuts telling the story but not in full!. This is a Range Rover video I did: ua-cam.com/video/piNizgBfVgw/v-deo.html Keep the intro graphic really short as this can put people off, its all about retaining the audience to watch you video by keeping things moving. Move your camera to different positions, then edit together to give impression of multiple cameras, try adding some 'B-Roll' over the top of talking. Use slow dynamic zoom to move slowly closer to the subject matter for good effect etc. Keep going it takes effort, and try and get people to add comments so you can get a conversation going. Keep it up you'll get there.!

I did buy a DSLR for filming but have got out of the habit due to the dirt and dust in the workshop. Maybe I should try using my action camera. I will try and take on your very well made points. @@itsalldoable Keep it simple at this stage, I use a gopro which is good for action stuff and distance, not so good up close. I also still use my phone as its great for detail !. I know what you mean about seeing yourself in the screen, try and ignore the screen and look at the little camera lens instead

Hi there, if you cannot download further models, I'm afraid the version you have is only for the French cars you have and not multicar. I think icarsoft should advertise better so we know before we buy.
I probably should expand on my previous comment. I did install the update software, but when I tried to enter the unit serial number it was not recognized. Tried to call the support number and it is no longer valid. At this point Amazon customer service is chasing the problem. They will call me tomorrow.

Depends on whether you got t the multi car version however follow my instructions and give it a go, if it doesn't then it's just locked on to the mercedes i'm afraid.

@@breodwight oh, you want to perform a dpf regen is it? If the option is there for your Audi then it should be able to do this. However not all models are possible. In regards to needing to sign up to icarsoft this is not required
I have the CR Pro. However when I do a smart scan it does the full test of all the systems but seems not to highlight if any of the systems have a fault. My previous scanner, an Autel, would scan and if anything failed it would highlight in red. The Icarsoft does not and I know I have 2 faults. Have I missed something?
Hi. The full smart scan actually doesn't provide a list of individual faults, but just searches for systems that the icarsoft can access. You need to go into each one to test for faults my friend. If you just run the obd scan from main page, this will give list of any faults
I cleared my maf sensor fault on this and for the next 2 hours my car went haywire while driving on the road….it eventually came good so I went home to scan the car again an guess what…the maf fault reappeared…whohahahahaha…..true story…
Icarsoft is garbage. It claims it can reset oil maintenance and it doesn’t. I do oil maintenance on my Macan 2017 myself and bought this tool for exact reason - reset maintenance. Worked with support for over 6 months, they sent numerous updates, still no luck. Also you can’t register new tpms sensors.
I think if you are lucky enough to have a new Porsche, it would be advisable to pay for the dedicated Porsche diagnostic mate. I find icarsoft is a good general level device.
Wish I could be as excited as yourself about this product. I have two 1998 X-308 LWB Jags (4.0L) and a 2003 R/Rover. It has very limited capability with the R/Rover and absolutely ZERO with the Jags, "Comms Error" and nothing else, yet there is no issue when the million dollar genuine Jaguar factory diagnostic unit is connected. Something seriously wrong with the iCarSoft product... Absolute wate of money!! 0 / 10! Do NOT Waste your Money!!

Hi there, not all icarsofts allow you to download further cars it may be locked to just Porsche unfortunately.

When you go to the ICARSOFT site and select software and updates, they typically tell you how to upload new software and firmware updates.

Are you tyre sizes the same for front and back, as this can cause an issue

I recently bought the MB II, and am happy with the unit. However, when trying to register and look for any available upgrades I found the icarsoft sight seems to have gone dark. Do you know why?

Ha! If you are working on the SBC (brakes) without disabling the SBC module, you may not get a fault, but you may crush a finger. The SBC needs to be disabled before any brake pad or caliper work.
Absolutely , I changed the page once and forgot to disengaged SBC, I had to get my car ECU software updated

I do not have an Autel however the reviews are very good. With that said the price tag is about 5 times higher, so I guess it comes down to your frequency of use, if you only have 1 or 2 cars and just want the occasional diagnostic then use the icarsoft, if you change cars more often then spend a bit It more and go for the Autel, which is what I intend to do!

Hi, no once you've added the cars unfortunately you cannot change them, just update the version of software
I do have the same tool. You cannot change them once you downloaded them. Their server remembers which car type has been installed under your serial number. So with this device you have to pay attention, and only download what you really need. I do have 3 different cars in the family, so i downloaded only those 3, i have 7 left in case i buy a car in the future from again different manufacturer. If you would be able to change the cars any time, than basically you would own the CR Pro version with unlimited cars, but iCarsoft doesn't want that of course, since CR Pro is more expensive.
I bought the CR Pro & got lucky reading somewhere online prior to receiving it that when you do your initial setup connected to a PC & software/firmware updates, you have only that ONE opportunity to decide all the vehicle brands you want to add to the device. As a result, I downloaded every brand that was available, since the memory requirements (even with 3 languages selected for ALL), did not cause any capacity issues. I hope iCarSoft updates this capability (they should put a big warning sticker on the display, so users are aware, imho), because it would be very disappointing to learn after downloading only 1,2, or 3 brands to the device, that you were locked out from adding any more. Booo.

If your icarsoft is version allows then you can update the other brands when you use the pc as per my video, by selecting what brands you would like. However if you have bought an icarsoft that is for one car brand, then it's not possible. Hope this explains.
Hi , Great video, thank you for making and sharing it. I need one of these devices for my Mercedes and I was wondering if you may possibly know if you can use the device to enable certain car specific functionality that should be on the car as standard. For example, I have flood lights on the door mirrors that do not currently work. Also, the windows should be able to be closed via the key fob. In regards to enabling items such as the door lights, I don't recall there being an option on the car dash menu to turn off / on and like wise the iCarsoft I do not believe has an option. You can check a lot of details on the icarsoft such as the keyless go features and ABS , Steering, emissions etc etc, However if you want to get more of a two way set up perhaps look for the icarsoft CR Max. I am thinking of getting an Autel Maxicom 808 that can program keys !
As for the channel growth, it takes time and effort, but if you like what you do then go for it. I found that I had posted 9+ years ago just to help explain things on car forums and over time those videos without me knowing gained a lot of views, then about 2 years I got more serious and started to look to getting the 1000 subscribers and make a channel with the goal to help people and save them money! I have not got intsagram but think I need to branch out. I'll have a look at your channel, try a few different video subjects then focus on what is most popular! This info is provided in detail with UA-cam Studio and the analytics that you get to evaluate.

@@GrooveOn Thank you for a great reply 👍 I have just bought an iCarsoft CR PRO Plus which has all the functionality of the CR Max but without the touch screen. Like you said it can't configure MB coded car functions but at least I can maintain the car better with the code reader.
I have been running my channel for about 2 years now and while I enjoy what I do (including the video editing) I am a little disappointed in the rate of growth of the channel. It is very bespoke to a small portion of the population so, to coin a phrase "it is what it is" 🤷♂️
Having said that, I have one video that is outstanding in its performance and that was totally unexpected. So, like you suggested I maybe should try more like that. The trouble is that the core channel content is different from the high performance video. Ha haa, such is the way of things.

I've just watched your video on Rotoflex hub, great stuff, you sound just like the actor Sean Bean! genuine, honest delivery which I think works well.
I thought I would give some feedback if thats okay, I am no expert, but I have discovered from the analytics that I get through UA-cam studio what helps me and what does not. This information is on how people skip through the video, the demographic, what points on the video people watched the most amongst much more.
Firstly you have a good niche with classic cars, which you will find your audience will be of a certain age and from certain countries, mainly UK / USA I would think. I like the use of music and speeded up video and the 'music bed' on the 'dull' bits as it keeps peoples interest and you have good camera set up angle too, remember to avoid looking at yourself in the screen, always look right down the 'barrel of the lens' not the screen as your people will notice your eye's. Your popular video's are around powder coating, welding, remember that even though you and I know about whats involved, many people do not and definitely do not have the equipment at home, so you could look at doing some advice videos as this subject as they had a lot of views on your channel!
Heres what I would change:
Try and avoid needing to explain what your video is about, remember that people will know from being able to search and find the video in the first place, as well as your description. Try and go straight in with whats known as 'teaser' shots to entice your audience, short 1-2 sec cuts telling the story but not in full!.

Keep the intro graphic really short as this can put people off, its all about retaining the audience to watch you video by keeping things moving. Move your camera to different positions, then edit together to give impression of multiple cameras, try adding some 'B-Roll' over the top of talking. Use slow dynamic zoom to move slowly closer to the subject matter for good effect etc. Keep going it takes effort, and try and get people to add comments so you can get a conversation going.
Keep it up you'll get there.!

I did buy a DSLR for filming but have got out of the habit due to the dirt and dust in the workshop. Maybe I should try using my action camera. I will try and take on your very well made points. @@itsalldoable Keep it simple at this stage, I use a gopro which is good for action stuff and distance, not so good up close. I also still use my phone as its great for detail !. I know what you mean about seeing yourself in the screen, try and ignore the screen and look at the little camera lens instead

Hi Mate, its a good questions I don't believe it does, it will tell you the live data, but I do not have ABC suspension unfortunately to test. I would look at the icarsft pro perhaps.

If you bought with only one make, then you could try and see, usually you need to choose the multi car version through.

Historic faults are not always permanent, clear and see if they return.

The mb V2 is for Mercedes Benz. You'll need the BMW version of icarsoft and it will do the same. Or get the version that allows up to 10 cars!

Hi there, good question, I do not have the ABC suspension on my car to test, otherwise i would check for you. I know that many of the functions have live data and there are service functions too. Sorry I could not help further

Hi there, if you cannot download further models, I'm afraid the version you have is only for the French cars you have and not multicar. I think icarsoft should advertise better so we know before we buy.

Tried to call the support number and it is no longer valid. At this point Amazon customer service is chasing the problem. They will call me tomorrow.

Yes, as with any car, as long as the fault is fixed, then you can clear the code.

the icarsoft will light up and beep once connected, you turn the ignition to the on position but do not need to start car.

Hi there, if you have the CRV2.0 you should be able to download up to 10 makes, however it depends on what you bought.
Download the tool as my video shows. You'll then be given a list of vehicle manufacturers that you can add to the device.
Please note, once selected and downloaded, the software package will be assigned to the tool and cannot be changed.
There is no time limit to making your selections, you can do this one by one or all 10 at once - the choice is yours.

I have a icarsoft cr v2.0 i buy this scanner with the purpose to programm injector trim code in my toyota hilux 2011 made in argentina, engine 2KD-FTV.
I can read diagnostic code in this car but a can't connect with the ECU for programm the trim code. I installed in my scanner the toyota software.

Depends on whether you got t the multi car version however follow my instructions and give it a go, if it doesn't then it's just locked on to the mercedes i'm afraid.

Unfortunately, once you've installed you cannot change them I don't think. I tried to do this myself. Have you tried calling icarsoft?

Hi want to resist my dpf light come up on my Audi q7 because i drive 15 mins to work have day so have month i have to pay to get it reset and i have the icarsoft vaws v2.0 wen i get to particles filter initialization that is the one that keeps failed all of the next 4 complete
@@breodwight oh, you want to perform a dpf regen is it? If the option is there for your Audi then it should be able to do this. However not all models are possible. In regards to needing to sign up to icarsoft this is not required

I have the CR Pro. However when I do a smart scan it does the full test of all the systems but seems not to highlight if any of the systems have a fault.
My previous scanner, an Autel, would scan and if anything failed it would highlight in red. The Icarsoft does not and I know I have 2 faults.
Have I missed something?
Hi. The full smart scan actually doesn't provide a list of individual faults, but just searches for systems that the icarsoft can access. You need to go into each one to test for faults my friend. If you just run the obd scan from main page, this will give list of any faults

I cleared my maf sensor fault on this and for the next 2 hours my car went haywire while driving on the road….it eventually came good so I went home to scan the car again an guess what…the maf fault reappeared…whohahahahaha…..true story…

Icarsoft is garbage. It claims it can reset oil maintenance and it doesn’t. I do oil maintenance on my Macan 2017 myself and bought this tool for exact reason - reset maintenance. Worked with support for over 6 months, they sent numerous updates, still no luck. Also you can’t register new tpms sensors.
I think if you are lucky enough to have a new Porsche, it would be advisable to pay for the dedicated Porsche diagnostic mate. I find icarsoft is a good general level device.

Wish I could be as excited as yourself about this product. I have two 1998 X-308 LWB Jags (4.0L) and a 2003 R/Rover. It has very limited capability with the R/Rover and absolutely ZERO with the Jags, "Comms Error" and nothing else, yet there is no issue when the million dollar genuine Jaguar factory diagnostic unit is connected. Something seriously wrong with the iCarSoft product... Absolute wate of money!! 0 / 10! Do NOT Waste your Money!!
