Our job as doctors is NOT to affirm. It is to help, treat, heal, and educate our patients. Of course, all of the above rest on solid scientific research, which the proponents of these pseudo guidelines either don't understand or purposely replace with propaganda, indoctrination, and anti scientific activism.

      @Oceanfoxy Рік тому +15

It feels on purpose. I am interested if the doctors are organising? the tagline gender is a social construct has caught on but is not scientific, feels like the majority of people don’t have the education or knowledge to stand up to queer theory even though it doesn’t hold with reality

@@Oceanfoxy Yes, there are many organizations that are starting to protect and defend science and medicine. Unfortunately, it seems far more difficult in the US than elsewhere, due to a variety of reasons. For instance, the indoctrination process here is more intense and widespread. Then, there are things we as scientists are guilty of: We spend a lot of time in our lab doing research and presenting results in academic settings (which is good), but not enough time spreading this information to the general public. PR was never part of our job (or our ethical premises), but this has become increasingly important, due to the increasing misrepresentation of our work in the media. The other issue is an extreme lowering of the bar in the US education system, where even reading basic scientific papers has become an issue.

@@Oceanfoxy That, and people are so unwilling to be called "transphobes." My rejoinder at this point is, "show me specifically how I'm being a transphobe to be posing serious questions about their health and well-being? If I were a transphobe, I wouldn't bother. I sent the GETA (Gender Exploratory Therapy ASSN web site to colleagues. One of them really pushed back and asked for data, which I provided. She said she thought it would be a long time before therapists in the US would be receptive. The belief is strong. Also Aaron's comment about using the word "providers" is on point.

@@davidtomasi It's not just that the bar has been lowered, although that is undoubtedly true in the UK. Students have been taught to reject studies that might not support their ideals, and cite studies that do, without even reading the papers. It's an anti-intellectual movement.
In Cambodia, first they killed the dissidents. After a time they killed anyone with eyeglasses, as being able to read was considered counter-revolutionary.

I'm an occupational therapist who has worked with at least a thousand patients who have had knee replacements. The comparison of having a knee replacement to having these gender surgeries is a false dichotomy. Frequently, when people have knee replacements, it is due to osteoarthritis. Sometimes the cartilage is completely worn away and the bones of the knee joint are rubbing together, which is physically painful. As of now, to my knowledge, there is no way to regenerate the knee cartilage. So for some, the option is to either live the rest of their life in pain walking with a cane or mobilizing with a wheelchair or have knee replacement surgery. Knee replacement surgery is painful and there can be complications but the outcomes are generally good if you strictly follow the rehab procedures. Patients who are obese are encouraged to lose weight and sometimes if a patient loses weight, they can avoid the surgery because they are putting less pressure on their joints thereby preserving the cartilage. Surgeons will try to delay knee replacement surgery for as long as possible, especially if the patient is young (in their 40's, 50's or 60's). The reason being that younger adults will generally need a revision in 15-20 years because the mechanical knee joint eventually wears out. Some surgeons also screen their patients because if they are obese or aren't motivated to perform the rehab post surgery, they won't perform the operation. Contrast this to gender affirming care, which is elective surgery on healthy tissues of the body (breasts, sex organs, etc). Most people who have knee replacements do so as a last resort. My research has led me to believe that top and bottom surgery on teens and young people is performed relatively quickly (within 2 years if the patient elects to do so), especially if the patient is over 18. My guess is the complication rate from top and bottom surgeries is higher than a knee replacement, but I don't know that for sure. Sorry for the long comment but this comparison doesn't make sense.

Your knowledge has now been updated on knee cartilage:
DMPI faculty member Virginia Kraus at Duke University. In 2019, her team discovered a pattern of regeneration based on the location of cartilage in the human body. High level regeneration was found in the ankles, moderate level in the knee, and low in the hips. This pattern was referred to as "our inner salamander," highlighting the fact that certain animals, like salamanders, can regenerate lost limbs. The goal of the research is to find a mechanism to boost this regeneration process in order to prevent, slow, or reverse arthritis. In the meantime, it's suggested that weight-bearing exercise, which causes synovial fluid to circulate, can help keep our joints strong and healthier.
      Side note:
Reverse or backward walking appears to have several potential benefits for the knees. In a study involving children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and anterior cruciate ligament injury, it was found that those who exercised through backward walking had improved balance and stability, as well as enhanced gait parameters and muscle strength.
Reverse walking can be a beneficial exercise for the lower body and overall body movement, improving balance and stability. The muscles used during reverse walking are largely the same as when walking forward. However, due to the opposite direction of movement, the body adjusts and uses different muscles to maintain balance, primarily the hamstrings, glutes, and calves.
In terms of knee pain, there are a few potential causes when walking backward, such as osteoarthritis in the knee and meniscal tears, conditions that lead to the breakdown or damage of the knee cartilage, causing pain, stiffness, and swelling.
Backward walking on a treadmill could be beneficial for knee pain as it can help stretch the muscles and tendons around the knee joint, which can be useful if they're tight or inflamed. Additionally, backward walking puts less stress on the knee joint, which can be helpful if dealing with knee pain or injury. It also helps strengthen the muscles around the knee, potentially preventing further pain or injury.

By indoctrinating a generation and disassociating them from their bodies, it is not a far stretch to combine human parts and robotic ones. Gender identity is like the concept of a soul, it can't be measured so there's no evidence to suggest everyone just has one that is either aligned or not aligned with sex. None of it makes sense, most people don't have euphoria about the fact that they are either female or male, and there's nothing there to align with sex, and why are we assuming gender identity needs to align with anything in the first place. It's all bs and sadly has been forced into what are supposed to be scientific fields.

Don't recall meeting Aaron, but Eliza is a fave, so he gets high marks for appearing with her 😺The whole idea of "Gender Affirming Care" is antithetical to genuine care. One does not go to a therapist or doctor to simply "affirm" an ailment or condition he / she believes to be the case. Likewise, it is absolutely NOT the therapists or doctors role to simply do so, because he / she has taken an oath to provide care not affirmation! If that person IS found to have this condition, it is then that therapists _obligation_ to seek a cure or at least manage it in a responsible manner. As it stands now, these "Gender Affirming" doctors / therapists, apply their own personal bias and do that person an absolutely GRAVE injustice. if it turns out that after at minimum a few years of good faith attempts to relieve this person of gender confusion, it is at THAT point, when hormones "may" be considered.... NEVER short of 18 yo!
    .
As it stands now, these often mid-pubescent boys, but mostly girls, visit this "Gender Affirming" care already convinced of the need to take hormones and these "doctors" simply ask... "how large a dose would you like to start?". This is an act of not only HORRENDOUS abuse of their power, but will lead to a higher number of circumstances, in which self-delete is under consideration 🤬
    .
PS> 100% irrelevant to the topic at hand. How long until we see the word "therapist" under attack for being patriarchal oppression? 🤔

@@liberality .. and exactly HOW do we or ANYONE know it is "right" when what the person is experiencing is 100% ABSOLUTELY AND WITHOUT ANY POSSIBLE QUESTION... a psychological issue?
      .
This person WAS born as female or male (fraction of % are intersex), yet "feels" like their body does not match their mind. This is the very definition of a psychological disorder and that person needs to DEEPLY explore why he / she feels this way, so therapy (of some type) is required. There have been an estimated 117 billion people born on this earth. Is it reasonable to think that we have some 20% of people in the last 10 years who "identify" as something OTHER than straight?
      .
For every trans person of 20 years and still 100% happy with his / her decision to go on HRT or surgery, I will show you a Jazz Jennings, ShapeShifter or the countless others I have seen. Each and EVERY ONE was 1000% convinced he / she "needed" the above to feel happy and guess what..?

Had I a magic wand, I would make it a guaranteed prison sentence of 10 years for ANY person (licensed or otherwise) to provide HRT / surgery for the EXPLICIT goal of transition to ANY person under the age of 18 yo... FULL STOP!
      .
Let these people become full adults an LEARN what it is to be in the world, before we play God and try to "spare" them that experience. That experience is what makes a person an actual unique soul. I could go on and on and on pushing back against the objective insanity of the trans activist cult.

@@NinjaKittyBonks People marvel at the _plasticity_ of the human mind, in contrast to animals that are far more instinctive than cognitively driven.
Sometimes that plasticity can cause problems, in the form of delusional beliefs, low self esteem which is negative self image, negative angry hateful hyper critical beliefs about oneself, negative mean angry hyper-critical internal dialogue. Other thought patterns that are incongruent with reality or exaggerated obsession over real or imaginary flaws.
A good therapist, cognitive therapy, or even 12-step introspection, or other methods, can be employed to help manage cognitive and emotional disorders. A gray foggy area exists between emotion, cognition, and what people call spiritual or spirit. There's no tangible scientific evidence of spirits but humans have aspects that could be identified as such. We can understand terms like broken spirit or happy spirit without embracing magical beliefs.
Likewise, emotions aren't visible can be noted, measured, catalogued, and discussed, in a manner that achieves some clarity. I think Spirit or soul concepts that were once completely foreign to me can also be clarified, including for agnostics.
I personally embarked on a 12-step journey, which I ended up shaping and modifying over months and years, as I gained more understandings about myself. I gradually gained an ability to address my unique variety of fears, plus shame and self-hatred about those fears. I was able to re-evaluate my history.
No 12-step person or therapist told me that THE SOLUTION to emotions caused by irrational and harmful fears and beliefs, plus broken or unhealthy social relationships, was ingesting more alcohol and drugs to anesthetize my mind.
Trans concepts contain a lot of magical beliefs, while current Trans therapies aim to address mental, emotional, and spiritual disorders _by treating the physical body as plastic_ instead of addressing mental plasticity and reshaping the mind. Literally called plastic surgery. Sometimes chosen defiantly.
I see commonality between the obsession with body modification to feel better about oneself and maybe feel some relief, with the sub-rational or emotion-driven obsession to ingest alcohol, opioids, benzos, or other mood altering chemicals, with temporary results of mood changes, but which become less effective over time, and in which what we call substance abuse turns against people who get caught in a spiral of greater obsession in and reliance on mood altering chemicals. These can become *increasingly self-destructive* over time, in place of providing even partial relief.
That's relatively minor surgical fixing when, for example, people choose to go under the scalpel to reshape a nose, rather than accept the nose shape that nature gave them. I believe that this exercise in vanity won't fix the underlying shame which led to the decision to have the surgery, but it's a relatively minor attempt. It is not removing one's entire nose to spite one's face.
Breast reduction can help back problems. I don't know if some doctors would say that training in posture and exercise can solve problems better than breast reduction.
Breast enlargement is more similar to nose reshaping, more about vanity and shame over a belief in inadequate breast side, or other feminine inadequacy, rather than being a genuine physical bodily problem.
No one would begrudge or question a person having an unsightly non-standard benign tumor cut off.
All of these are FAR less radical, and mostly more rational, surgical interventions, when compared to radical Trans surgery, and hormonal treatments on healthy children and teens who are suffering from mental and emotional anxiety and obsessions about gender or sex.

All children, supposedly being polymorphously perverse in Freudian terms, are proto-transgender, or 'eggs' in the language of the activists. Hence the emphasis on story hour and other entry points into early childhood education. In their world, heteronormativity is the enemy precisely because it constrains the child's potential. People with any views or thoughts that don’t specifically and vehemently “affirm” are “terfy ” and even something as simple as asking questions in the “wrong language “ has resulted in myself ans many others being blocked banned silenced and essentially removed from any conversation about this, including its affect on women’s rights.
In short, TERF May once have referred to people directly targeting trans “thought “ as wrong and dangerous (always perceived as an attack by TRAs)…but at this point it refers to literally anyone who has any sort of question opinion or thought that is not in line with the Ideological Demands

34:35. "it ALWAYS changes, based on circumstances..."
This is true of EVERY aspect of "gender" ideology; They have "answers", IF you only ever focus on ONE specific question, at a time... But when you look at ALL those answers, together, you get a bizarre, self-contradictary mess.
And this is true on the most basic, foundational level, in ways that an 11yo kid could understand.
-"Gender is just a social construct" ie. In the "nature vs nurture" paradigm, your "gender" is 100% nurture; Merely an arbitrary social concept, entirely learned, and dependent on WHICH society/era you're raised in.
-But trans folx are "born this way". They are "born in the Wrong Body". ie "gender" is (NOW) 100% 'NATURE', in the "nature vs nurture" paradigm. It is (NOW) innate from birth, and hardwired to the brain (REGARDLESS of what society you're born into)
These are BOTH two of the most foundational ideas in "gender" ideology; Yet they are 100% mutually contradictary; It is LOGICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for both to be true, at once.
But these impossible claims are BOTH are constantly appealed to, as if they were established, obvious, evidence based fact... When in reality, NEITHER claim has the tinyest shred of empirical evidence. In fact, "just a social construct" is an explicit attempt to DENY any burden of evidence (How can you EXPECT a "mere social construct" to have empirical evidence?!?)
Yet believers in "gender", from brainwashed 15yo's in leggings, up to esteemed doctors who are considered 'experts" will appeal to BOTH these mutually-contradictary, 100% evidence-free dogmas, minutes apart, without even ACKNOWLEDGING the unresolvable conflict between them.
And the whole ideology is rife with such conflicts...
-How can "just a social construct" EVER justify ANY form of body-modification?!? ESPECIALLY in unconsenting children?
-How can you claim to NOT be conflating evidence-based sex, with the evidence-free assertion of "gender", when changing "genders" grants access to organizations, which exist ONLY due to the PHYSIOLOGICAL differences between the SEXES, like males being allowed in women's/girls' sports?!
And maybe the biggest, most concerning contradiction- HOW CAN YOU JUSTIFY TREATING "TRANSGENDERISM" LIKE A MEDICAL ISSUE, WHEN THERE'S A 100% ABSENCE OF *ANY SCRAP* OF EMPIRICAL, PHYSIOLOGICAL EVIDENCE, FOR *ANY* RELATED CLAIMS?!?
It is a joke. The ENTIRE ideology is a house of cards, built on sand, with no foundations.
Seriously, flat earth or astrology are more valid as "evidence-based science" than "gender" is...
The dictionary definition of "PSEUDO-SCIENCE" is "a belief system which doesn't adhere to scientific method, but which is treated AS IF it was science..." (A kind of "trans-science", I guess...)
"Gender" has ZERO empirical evidence. ZERO mechanisms for falsifiability. It can't even give meanjngful, evidence-based definitions of key terms like "woman", "man", or even "gender" itself... Yet it's used as the SOLE justifcation for THOUSANDS of (surgical, chemical or other) """medical procedures""" annually...
If that doesn't qualify "gender" as "pseudo-science", then NOTHING is "pseudo-science"...

Excellent job of presenting the flaws in gender "affirming" care for children. May I make a suggestion? So many similar and excellent videos are often 1-2 hours in length. As a natal female baby boomer (who has never raised children), and who is struggling to understand how to best counteract the pernicious gender "affirming" ideology targeting children, can you please publish an outline for this video of the pertinent points (or at least an English transcript)? Guys, I'm on your side but I need talking points!
Having listened to the stories of a number of adults who have been very satisfied with socially, hormonally and medically transitioning, I realize that it can indeed be the right treatment for some AS LONG AS they are adults (at least 18-25 or older). However, the exponential explosion to push transition onto children under 18 is a cult that is medically, scientifically and morally wrong and, for the majority of confused teens, not supported by the evidence.
My impression of the transitioning for children cult: this is the Emperor's New Clothes meets Lord of the Flies!

For quite some time now the “trans movement”, especially the focus on gender confusing children, has reminded me of the 1980/90s Satanic sexual abuse daycare hysteria. “Therapists” played a significant role in the manner of questioning children with leading/guiding questions that elicited the answers the therapists wanted. This hysteria became a social contagion with many lives ruined by false accusations. During the same time period, “ therapists “ created the “Recovered (Repressed) Memory movement. Here, again, therapists were leading patients and ruining lives with false accusations.
In review of the Recovered Memory Movement in 2005, it was deemed a catastrophe in the mental health field akin to the lobotomy era -
““With a few decades’ perspective, it’s clear this level of confidence led to disastrous results. In 2005 a Harvard psychology professor, Richard McNally, called the recovered memory movement “the worst catastrophe to befall the mental health field since the lobotomy era.”
At the height of the controversy in 1994, I co-wrote a book, “Making Monsters,” on the topic with the sociologist Richard Ofshe. In writing it, we hoped to help stop the practice that was harming so many. We also wanted to create a historical record that might help prevent the profession from going down another rabbit hole.” “www.nytimes.com/2022/09/27/opinion/recovered-memory-therapy-mental-health.html
      Making Monsters-Amazon book description
If you haven't heard of false memory syndrome and the controversy it engenders, you haven't seen a talk show recently. In the last decade, there has been a veritable explosion of cases in which (mostly) women in therapy remember being sexually abused by their parents. In many instances, the memories escalate, and the patients eventually exhibit symptoms of multiple personality disorder or recall being victims of satanic cults. Ofshe, a social psychologist, and Watters, a Mother Jones writer, examine this psychological phenomenon and offer two explanations for its current prevalence: either recovered-memory therapists have achieved a breakthrough in the understanding of the human mind, in which case much that is fundamental about our understanding of psychology will need to be reinterpreted, or the practice of uncovering repressed memories has been built into a pseudoscience by therapists who have created "an Alice-in-Wonderland world in which opinion, metaphor, and ideological preference substitute for objective evidence." Firmly supporting the latter view, the authors offer a thoughtfully written, restrained (even a bit dry), and generally persuasive examination of what false memory syndrome reveals about society as well as ourselves. Ilene Cooper
The Wikipedia article regarding the daycare abuse hysteria specifically addresses the vulnerability of children and their susceptibility to leading and suggestive questioning tactics, and tactics of applying “peer pressure “ to persuade the children to provide the desired testimony. In curiosity I began searching for other therapists created “movements” and found something even more disturbing - social justice activism is embedded in the ideology of the counseling psychology ethos. Instead of psychologists and counselors seeking to help the patients in their care to better understand and cope in the reality of the world there is a culture of creating social contagion and mental dis-ease in vulnerable adults and children.
      Satanic sex abuse daycare hysteria
      Suggestibility of Children
“Children are vulnerable to outside influences that can result in fabrication of testimony.[5] Their testimony can be influenced in a variety of ways. In an article published by the American Psychological Association and titled Jeopardy in the Courtroom: A Scientific Analysis of Children’s Testimony, by Maggie Bruck-a professor within the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine-wrote that children incorporate aspects of the interviewer's questions into their answers, as an attempt to tell the interviewer what the child believes is being sought.[6] Studies also show that when adults ask children questions that do not make sense (such as: "is milk bigger than water?" or "is red heavier than yellow?"), most children will offer an answer, believing that there is an answer to be given, rather than understanding the absurdity of the question.[7] Furthermore, repeated questioning of children causes them to change their answers. This is because the children perceive the repeated questioning as a sign that they did not give the "correct" answer previously.[8] Children are also especially susceptible to leading and suggestive questions.[9] Research has found that, in the absence of being prompted, it is uncommon for children to make fictitious reports of sexual abuse.[10][11][12][13] And that conversely, it is not unusual for children to underreport abuse.[14][15][16]
Interviewer bias also influences child testimony. When an interviewer has a preconceived notion as to the truth of the matter being investigated, the questioning is performed in a manner to extract statements that evidence these beliefs.[8] As a result, evidence that could disprove the belief is never sought by the interviewer. Additionally, positive reinforcement by the interviewer can taint child testimony. Often, such reinforcement is given to encourage a spirit of cooperation by the child, but impartiality can quickly end as the interviewer nods, smiles, or offers verbal encouragement to "helpful" statements.[8] Some studies show that when interviewers make reassuring statements to child witnesses, the children are more likely to fabricate stories of past events that never occurred.[17]
Peer pressure also influences children to fabricate stories. Studies show that when a child witness is told that his or her friends have already testified that certain events occurred, the child witness was more likely to create a matching story.[18] The status of the interviewer can also influence a child's testimony, because the more authority an interviewer has, such as a police officer, the more likely a child is to comply with that person's apparent agenda.[19]” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day-care_sex-abuse_hysteria

It also seems like "gender dysphoria" is something that ONLY people who are overtly trans-IDing (or at least questioning if they may be "trans", I guess) would relate to.
But the way "gender INCONGRUENCE" was described, it seems like that would capture ANY self-conciousness about ANY aspect of the body, which ANYONE may have.

Really sounds like those genderdokters started identifying themselves as hammers, and every child they meet as a nail.

5:22 - Just word it differently next time: "My kid keeps insisting that they're cis, but everyone knows they're not. What can we do to convince them to undergo treatments they feels are unnecessary?"

9:15 giving the analysis before the narrative, jumping around, giveaway for someone who needs help getting in the groove of telling the story. Help him, host.....he really wants to just give the analysis, instead of the story THEN the analysis. Your audience wants to be able to analyze it too! We can't do it without the story. Narrative first, Then analysis.

Why does Aaron feel his reasons for transition are reasonable and healthy (even though they sound opaque at best and disordered/dysfunctional at worst) but other trans people’s reasons aren’t? How can you laugh at non-binary females with beards and claim people like them need to be prevented from accessing medical transition bc they obviously have mental/behavioral stuff going on, but then describe your own reasons for transition as an avoidant coping mechanism for some sort of combo of psycho-sexual and body dysmorphic disorders? Pot meet kettle. What’s the reasoning here?
