I agree with Eliza that female eroticism in the romantic form is very heavy in younger generations (even I myself as a young person at some point in reading gay fan fiction of small IP works had sometimes wanted to be a man to receive the 'softness' that men seemed to bestow on their male partners, ironically only because the fiction was written by women), but for older generations, it feels like it goes right to the heart of their instinct to protect the vulnerable. That's why the women who come out the strongest against transgenderism are generally women who are less agreeable (more of a male trait, but not by a huge margin). I'm sorry for Eliza having lost so many friends. I can relate 😢 2 friends of mine attacked me as if they had never known me and, like Eliza said, did not listen to anything not answer any questions, just jumped to the conclusion that I was evil and needed to be re-educated. Because I said biology matters, prisons should be sex segregated, that mutilating kids and stopping their puberty was crazy and unfair, that activists were homophobic and misogynistic and that privacy for women also matters. I see these attacks as a defensive reaction from an imagined threat. Imagined intolerance or oppression. People really divide on this. There seems to be no middle ground for many people on either side. But many - I guess Eliza's ex friend was one - are navigating the newest wave of status-acquiring cheap virtue signaling without thinking it all the way to its logical consequences.
I kind of disagree. The middle path is single-sex spaces are single-sex and children can't give informed consent. The vast majority of ppl agree with that. We've been tricked by this Bolshevist tactic, in terms of them naming themselves the majority and their opposition that was the majority menshevik/minority, that the pro-affirmative group are progressive not regressive. Gaslit into banning "conversion therapy" which is actually exploratory therapy while affirmative therapy transitions gay ppl. Being told "trust the science" by the extremist with no scientific reviews of the research papers while any reviews clearly fall under negative consequences or poorly evidenced. Told we are gender conforming by the group enforcing gender conformity etc. The problem is that the extremists are too lazy to read studies, too black and white thinking to see sense, too egocentric to listen. I often feel like I'm talking to flat-earthers or Islamic extremists. If those ppl aren't willing or able to debate civilly then we shouldn't negotiate with them or include them. You can't have the group trying to exclude and browbeat ppl based on irrelevant characteristics (race, sex, religion sexuality) sitting round the negotiating table. They need to learn to earn the right to be in the discussion based on arguments alone. I think they subconsciously know that if they listen to reason long enough they will have to change their opinion and they just aren't ready or willing for that to happen.
I'm also Australian. I'm not impressed with the immigration plans. I spend time informing immigrants and would be, about the transitioning of children.

Something I've noted in parts of the humanities is an odd resistance to posing hypotheses or asking questions in order to test any presented ideas. Noting this, there's something of a practice in parts of the humanities of treating ideas or the supposed phenomena they're meant to connect with as automatically true if they can be named. The problem is that the extremists are too lazy to read studies, too black and white thinking to see sense, too egocentric to listen.
I often feel like I'm talking to flat-earthers or Islamic extremists. If those ppl aren't willing or able to debate civilly then we shouldn't negotiate with them or include them. You can't have the group trying to exclude and browbeat ppl based on irrelevant characteristics (race, sex, religion sexuality) sitting round the negotiating table. They need to learn to earn the right to be in the discussion based on arguments alone.
I think they subconsciously know that if they listen to reason long enough they will have to change their opinion and they just aren't ready or willing for that to happen.

Something I've noted in parts of the humanities is an odd resistance to posing hypotheses or asking questions in order to test any presented ideas. I've been called names for wanting to do the former or even suggesting one might want to strive to develop things to a point where experimental research could be reasonably conducted around very select topics around language. Noting this, there's something of a practice in parts of the humanities of treating ideas or the supposed phenomena they're meant to connect with as automatically true if they can be named. Once there's a name and a term put out there by a certified PhD, there's a pressure to never question any claims made in support of the use of the term. It was confusing ten years ago and still is. It does remind you of casting spells of illusion. Never question the expert. It's almost as if they disliked genuine learning.
