If it truly was $500K+ in options that is the most expensive 765LT Spider I've ever heard of. I'm too poor to drop that much in options and only have about $50k in mine arriving soon.
McLaren has released so many similar cars it's mind boggling. They really need to mix things up. People always say the F1 was the greatest drivers car ever. They should try making a sports car with a V12, a manual transmission, and a central driving seat position.
I think McLaren designs are indistinguishable from eachother, but I don't think the distinction between each model is all that important. McLaren sets itself apart from other manufacturers because of its unique design language compared to other manufacturers. When I see a McLaren, I know it's a McLaren. It's all I really care about. They're all high performance track oriented road cars. It's like saying Ariel has repetitive designs, or Porsche. IMO I think it's the manufacturers intent to set their BRAND apart, not necessarily their models.
i love that i know EXACTLY where you're filming your videos. grew up in SD and when i would go back to visit and flew drones, this parking lot was the GOAT for "secluded" enjoyment of the hobby on weekends. wish i coulda ran into you while i was still visiting back there.

McLaren isn't a supercar. And they are honestly pretty shitty too. Build quality often isn't comperable to other brand. They're pretty uninspired and they are only worth it to people because they have the fastest 0-60 on paper compared to similar brands
@@applejuice9468 sure a 500k car isnt a super car. Or are you gonna say the mclaren f1 or the p1 arent hyper cars? Your out here on every thread acting like mclaren stole your part of the will from the family name.
McLaren are amazing, they manage to make cars that have such a sculptured design that they look like they are moving even when they are standing still, have breathtaking handling and performance to rival any manufacturer in the world and are built with a clinical precision that incorporates technology that would have seemed other worldly only a few years ago, they are proudly made in England (my home) and on this car they even got the blue right, it looks perfect... the really amazing thing is though for all that, all those pitch perfect ingredients I just don't find them desirable and I have no idea why.
Porsche needs to release the Cayenne GT3 Touring Cabrio. Rich people will buy anything as long as it has a different name then the one they bought before.
The McLaren feels faster than the Tesla even though it reports a lower 0-60 time not because McLaren is rounding down, but because Tesla is "rounding" up
@@kaisuhina8024 you're not going to be able to tell the difference between 2.2 and like 1.9 bro. Still fast as fuck. I leased a Mclaren for two years and didn’t re-up when the pandemic hit. I can say I miss that little 570GT. 911 just doesn’t hit the feels the same way.
most people (myself included) will never be able to buy this type of cars, BUT mclaren is literally a copy paste. same car from 5 years ago. same design, same crazy hard to understand names and many optional extras that should never even be a thing
Although a lot of people criticise McLaren for photocopying their “exclusive, high performance, all carbon supercars”, I think that they are beautiful, all of them. Sadly, in our near future basically every car is going to be just a soulless electric car. We have to appreciate every car like this while we have the time to do so. Great review Doug and great job McLaren!
The door locking mechanism/window quirk isn’t to do with sealing. If you opened the door without the few inches of roll down, the corner of the glass closest to the hood wouldn’t have any free space to move, so it would hit the body of the car the door occupies and smash the window against its edge vertically.
It looks like the speed of the convertible roof is mainly down to the various movements of the assorted components overlap in their operation. Most other convertibles do one thing - then another - then another - then done! Open bootlid Move rear roof segments move main roof return rear roof segments Close boot lid. I 've been wondering why these haven't been better synchronised, for years! And now it has, cutting the time by 30%! Well done - at last!!

True Porsche has been terrible but are improving a little. Caruk said, "It’s an unfortunate fact that the more luxurious a car, the less reliable it tends to be. In previous years, Porsche has fared very poorly in the reliability stakes. Oil leaks, clutch problems, and little to no battery power were well-documented occurrences to Porsche owners, but recent surveys suggest this is now changing for the better." McLaren is improving too, has put a lot of effort in recently. They both recently realized they cannot hide it.
Just rich collectors who aren't real car people. A true enthusiast would bring it to the track, or you know... at least want to be able to see their own engine
So it's basically a 720s with a fancy bodykit and they made the roof moveable and gave it a lil more power and of course the giant price tag increase McLaren needs to do something that no automaker is doing right now (like offering various engines like not offer the same twin turbo V8 they have been using since the mp4-12c) Maybe they will become more reliable and not catching fires at gas stations
You need to see other reviews. So many changes. An innovative patented roof system does not affect stiffness much and comes down very quickly. And what top Gear Said. How do you make something quick even quicker? You know the drill - more power, more downforce and less weight. The 765LT sticks to the formula producing (as the name suggests) 765hp, 45hp more than the 720S. It also weighs 80kg less. As a result it’ll do 0-62mph a tenth faster than the 720S, in 2.8 seconds, and 0-124mph in 7.2 - that’s a full six tenths faster and, to keep the marketing department happy, just four tenths behind the Senna and P1. Top speed? 205mph. Let’s start with the diet: all the body panels are now carbon fibre - that’s 14kg saved; you get the seats from a Senna - 18kg right there; there’s new lightweight forged 10-spoke wheels fitted with Trofeo Rs as standard - total saving 22kg; and even titanium wheel nuts to shave off a few more grams. You get the Senna brake callipers as standard and, as an option, the Senna’s extremely special carbon-ceramic discs that take seven months to cure for ultimate fade-free performance. It’ll stop from 124mph-0 in just 110m, and probably tear your eyes out their sockets in the process. = And that’s not even the nerdy stuff. The rear windscreen and rear quarter windows are polycarbonate, there’s thinner glass for the windscreen and windows, no carpets, a new carbon fibre centre console without an arm rest and McLaren’s first full titanium exhaust. Lighter, noisier, and fitted with quad pipes that remind us of a Bugatti Chiron Sport, the pipes, like on the 600LT, are the defining design cue - the thing that lets supercar spotters know they’re not looking at a normal 720S. The styling then... not subtle is it? Overall it produces 25 per cent more downforce than the 720S, which dictates the way it looks. The huge carbon front splitter is all new, GT2 RS-style vents in the top of the front wheel arch are new and relieve pressure to reduce lift. Larger and more pronounced carbon side skirts stick out the sides and round the back you have an active wing that’s 20 per cent bigger than a 720S, and a substantially larger rear diffuser. Surprise, surprise, the engine is McLaren’s 4.0-litre twin turbo V8, producing, in old money 754bhp and 590lb ft of torque - that’s thanks to the addition of fuel pump, pistons and head gasket from the Senna. The suspension is a refined version of the 720S’ linked-hydraulic Proactive Chassis Control II setup, now with 11 per cent stiffer spring rates front and rear, a 5mm lower ride height at the front and a 6mm wider front track. Final drive ratio is 15 per cent shorter than a 720S, the lowest of any McLaren, which should make the in-gear acceleration feel... lively.
Wow, another highly exclusive, all carbon fibre, track-focused RWD McLaren 2-seater supercar with a twin turbo 3.8l-4l V8 making 500-800HP, that has optional extras worth more than most people's daily drivers. And they say Porsche has a photocopier instead of a design team...

McLaren has released so many similar cars it's mind boggling. They really need to mix things up. People always say the F1 was the greatest drivers car ever. They should try making a sports car with a V12, a manual transmission, and a central driving seat position.
FORESHADOWING?
got ferraris for most of that
@@hotdog9262 Ferrari doesn't make cars with manual transmissions anymore. Also, they've never made a car with a central driving position.
@@mattuw82 no i knew about the driving position bit..but manuals they are all gone? thats a shame
...but they already did with the f1
Love the way the rear spoiler raises to slow down when off the gas.
Sometime fararri could look like mclaran
I really can't wait to see that Diablo and I feel like we've been teased really hard with it.
Probably one of the best looking Diablo I've seen
Ngl the comment section on that video is gonna be like “We need more 80s and 90s cars not boring overrated fast supercars 😭”
Doug the type of guy to understand the Mclaren line-up
Wow, *ANOTHER* special edition mclaren supercar! I would never expect that 😒
Your genuine excitement when accelerating is awesome. Great review.
this car has the most beautiful rear i've ever seen! especially with the wing up!
Where’s the rear? Can’t find any…
i love that i know EXACTLY where you're filming your videos. grew up in SD and when i would go back to visit and flew drones, this parking lot was the GOAT for "secluded" enjoyment of the hobby on weekends. wish i coulda ran into you while i was still visiting back there.
“Limited edition”
Until the next limited edition model.
That’s coming next week.
They’re really flogging the line up to death since resurrecting the road cars.
Believe it or not, those are the Comfort seats. The optional Buckets or the even more extreme Senna seats are even more track focused.
I absolutely love McLaren. My favorite supercar. Just unbelievable driving machines. That thing hauls!!! Love Doug's reactions lol
McLaren isn't a supercar. And they are honestly pretty shitty too. Build quality often isn't comperable to other brand. They're pretty uninspired and they are only worth it to people because they have the fastest 0-60 on paper compared to similar brands
@@applejuice9468 I think everyone is well aware of that buddy !!
@@applejuice9468 sure a 500k car isnt a super car. Or are you gonna say the mclaren f1 or the p1 arent hyper cars? Your out here on every thread acting like mclaren stole your part of the will from the family name.
Doug the typa guy to drive the special edition spyder with the top up the entire time.
I was so confused
I love the seats on the coupe way better, they looked way more aggressive
McLaren are amazing, they manage to make cars that have such a sculptured design that they look like they are moving even when they are standing still, have breathtaking handling and performance to rival any manufacturer in the world and are built with a clinical precision that incorporates technology that would have seemed other worldly only a few years ago, they are proudly made in England (my home) and on this car they even got the blue right, it looks perfect... the really amazing thing is though for all that, all those pitch perfect ingredients I just don't find them desirable and I have no idea why.
They are decent. If I had the money I wouldn't get any supercar
Step aside F1 drivers, Doug's got this.
ua-cam.com/video/PYbz1RsUgN0/v-deo.html
Finally it's here
with the f1 driver market as it is, doug may just end up driving for alpine at this point
Porsche needs to release the Cayenne GT3 Touring Cabrio. Rich people will buy anything as long as it has a different name then the one they bought before.
IMO, the 765LT is the only McLaren design that is desirable after the F1 and P1.
The McLaren feels faster than the Tesla even though it reports a lower 0-60 time not because McLaren is rounding down, but because Tesla is "rounding" up
Yep. There is not single under 2 second acceleration on dragy for tesla plaid. Fastest ones are 2.2.
@@kaisuhina8024 you're not going to be able to tell the difference between 2.2 and like 1.9 bro. Still fast as fuck. Also Tesla and all car manufacturers get those numbers from averages with the best possible conditions that are quite hard to replicate everytime in real life. They do hundreds if not thousands of tests to get those numbers

Thinking about trading my Toyota Camry for one of these. Thanks for the great review!
THIS ...has to be 64th McLaren Doug has reviewed...and i couldn`t tell them apart even if I could afford them.
but this one is the 000th one off the production line, thats gotta be worth something :)
Still impressive to see those McLarens! And that 765LT Spider has a great blue paintjob! I'd love to try one of those one day or just be driven around once, really cool car!
It's not that amazing
I just got a ride in one of these and it was absolutely exhilarating. The acceleration had me whooping with joy. Hope you get to experience it too.
😂 the doors don't open up to maximize the drama, they open that way for two reasons. One, for curbside sake. Two, to allow for easier entry and exiting of the car. The " drama " is our own interpretation.
I guess nobody commented that the roof is over 9000... Pretty insane xD

McLaren's blues cannot be beat! Loved my Cerulean McLaren! Ugh, such a pretty car.....
Doug is the type of guy to drive a 765lt spider and not Take the Top off
The whole point of the review is a convertible variant and he doesn’t even use it 🤣
He's literally done this multiple times like in his Aston Martin Vantage Roadster and Lexus LC500 convertible reviews, he says that it's for "voice quality for the mic" even though he had the top off in his Geo Metro convertible review
That color is really pretty
I've really lost interest in McLarens after like a million different special models, But what were they thinking when the successor to the "Six Seven Five" was named "Seven Six Five"? 😂😂 (I have to stop and think everytime 😂)
OMG I didn't even notice that they were two different numbers! I genuinely thought it was the same
@@adnamamedia HAHA Yes 😂 I have to double check whenever I listen to anyone say it 😂😂
Now we want to hear bumper to bumper garanty stories of that rolling maintenance nightmare.
Is it just me or is it more interesting when Doug reviews obscure cars from the 80s as opposed to yet another McLaren?
I leased a Mclaren for two years and didn’t re-up when the pandemic hit. I can say I miss that little 570GT. 911 just doesn’t hit the feels the same way.
I don’t like not being able to see / touch the engine. Otherwise these are pretty amazing.
I gotta say, those wheels look amazing.
My fav cars reviewer of all time
When Doug makes regular video: "...another McLaren"
When Doug makes promoted video: "Here is new super exciting McLaren, better then poor guys GT4 RS"
My favorite car is the Mclaren 720s, so this is GODLY to me

Love the colour of this one.
That panel-gap is absolutely staring at me
Couldn’t imagine seeing a mclaren getting down on the freeway & then seeing Doug in the drivers seat
I feel like I've seen this review so many times lol
That color is PERFECT
I only watch Doug DeMuro to see him break every speed limit in California.
most people (myself included) will never be able to buy this type of cars, BUT mclaren is literally a copy paste. same car from 5 years ago. same design, same crazy hard to understand names and many optional extras that should never even be a thing
How many times are you gonna tease us with the Diablo GTR 😭
This is the 58th McLaren whatever LT whatever higher performance, track focused limited edition supercar.
Doug was right. McLaren is making too many cars, and now each car feels less special.
It looks like the speed of the convertible roof is mainly down to the various movements of the assorted components overlap in their operation. Most other convertibles do one thing - then another - then another - then done!
Open bootlid
Move rear roof segments
move main roof
return rear roof segments
Close boot lid.
I 've been wondering why these haven't been better synchronised, for years! And now it has, cutting the time by 30%! Well done - at last!!
The price tag is the equivalent of the ram charger having almost half the price in options. The difference is it comes standard with a/c.
Comedy really isn't your thing there Santiago
this car is a work of art just beautiful
Too many models, similar looks, similar performance. I’m literally lost!
if you could get your hands on a Ferrari Daytona sp3 that would be a cool car to review, in my opinion i think it's the one of the greatest cars ever produced by Ferrari, and i love the retro futuristic look of that car.

Seriously? 710hp on the 720s and 755hp on the 765LT? You were so close McLaren
They actually make more then that it's close to 800 to the crank on the 720s from dyno results all over youtube go search it up
People who complain about their lineup, get in one and drive it. Im no mclaren fan but i drove a 570s once and that was the most fun ive ever had in a car. Imagine this one
Giving mclaren 1 less point than Porsche gt2rs in quality… love Doug one of the best car reviewers out there but that is just wrong look at the videos online of Almost every mclaren squeking and loose parts not to speak of the average maintance cost of McLarens, should Max be given a 5 and thats pushing it. Otherwise keep up the great work Doug❤️
True Porsche has been terrible but are improving a little. Caruk said,
"It’s an unfortunate fact that the more luxurious a car, the less reliable it tends to be. In previous years, Porsche has fared very poorly in the reliability stakes. Oil leaks, clutch problems, and little to no battery power were well-documented occurrences to Porsche owners, but recent surveys suggest this is now changing for the better."
McLaren is improving too, has put a lot of effort in recently. They both recently realized they cannot hide it.
@@andrewnorris5415 Porsche, terrible............... A 911 is one of the most reliable cars you can buy on the market
@@andrewnorris5415 Porsche terrible?? Porsche are known for one of the best build qualitys out there, except early cayenne and boxter.
As far as I'm concerned, this is easily the sixth time this car has been reviewed.
Tesla M3P 0-60 3.1 sec cost $65k
Mclaren 765LTS 0-60 2.7 sec cost $500k 😮

Hammond: "Top down, just the way I like it."
And he never drove with the top down for a review about a convertible variant

Right. It’s like just another sports car.
Beautiful building at @19:05 through 19:13 behind Doug's head!
I bet not even 50% of these cars that are "track focused" wont see a track day in their lifetime
Just rich collectors who aren't real car people. A true enthusiast would bring it to the track, or you know... at least want to be able to see their own engine
That would be 90%
Before the 765LT came out, I didn’t think anything could top the 720S.
Plaid
So it's basically a 720s with a fancy bodykit and they made the roof moveable and gave it a lil more power and of course the giant price tag increase
McLaren needs to do something that no automaker is doing right now (like offering various engines like not offer the same twin turbo V8 they have been using since the mp4-12c)
Maybe they will become more reliable and not catching fires at gas stations
British car? Reliable? Keep dreaming lol
=
And that’s not even the nerdy stuff.
Final drive ratio is 15 per cent shorter than a 720S, the lowest of any McLaren, which should make the in-gear acceleration feel... lively.
