295: Haolonggood (好龙谷) Mamenchisaurus 2024 Part 1 Brown

- What can I say? HLG does it again, and this time they do the iconic Chinese sauropod proud.
This is that impressive Mamenchisaurus the size it should have been done, but Haolonggood chose to do it first. The so-called 素 version is anything but! There is nothing plain about this, and sports some of the best paint apps I have ever seen on a sauropod.
No regrets whatsoever getting this brown one! Or indeed, any one, just based on the sculpt!

They are spoiling us with these amazing sauropods! Can't wait for mine to arrive. I'm sure my wife will be thrilled to see another giant figure mysteriously appear on the shelf, haha!

Just got mine a couple days ago and wow… this is my first Hlg and I’m very very happy with it… detail wise pnso is still ahead but not by much this figure really is for me the best figure of this Dino on the market
Congratulations on your first HLG! This is certainly an awesome one to start with!
I think that this one in particular, is on par with many PNSOs. PNSO still has a slight edge in terms of how smoothly they apply colours, and the very very fine detail, but considering the size of this animal, I would happily accept not having that high level of refinement in a PNSO, and consider it superior to many PNSOs. You have it in hand now, and I think you can see there are still more subtleties that I couldn't capture on video! 😁😁 Enjoy it!
Honestly I'm not one for big sauropod models but you've sold this one to me. Especially this brown version.

That silhouette image at the start I'm sure features Brachiosaurus altithorax, and not Giraffatitan brancai. We got the Alamosaurus, then the Mamenchisaurus. Now we only have that enormous titanosaur silhouette which is probably Argentinosaurus and one more mysterious sauropod left. I believe that mystery sauropod is Brachiosaurus. Icompared the silhouette to the skulls of B.altithorax and G.brancai, and B.altithorax's skull matches perfectly while G.brancai's has serious overlapping.
What do you think? I personally hope it is B.altithorax because we have no good 1/35 Brachiosaurus or even a good scientifically accurate Brachiosaurus figure. However for Giraffatitan as we got that beautiful 1/35 and accurate W Dragon model.
Sorry for the late reply. You may have seen Part 3 by now, and in that it was quite clear to me that the actual form of the figure may change from the silhouette, and so, who knows what other proportions, especially those remaining animals are more in the background.
I too would hope to have a good Brachiosaurus, since we always have the W-Dragon Giraffatitan. It would be important for HLG to respect the differences though! Otherwise it would just defeat the point of having one of each!
@@DinosDragonsI completely agree! Though I hope with Haolonggood's track record of great scientific accuracy, they would take the time to make a distinct shape for either Brachiosaurus or Giraffatitan, even in something as small as a silhouette image.

Al igual que su modelado. No es para nada fácil mantener el realismo en los saurópodos. Su tamaño y su escala hace que sea difícil mantener el nivel de micro texturizado al que parece que estamos acostumbrados en la actualidad en todas las réplicas de estos bellos animales. Los elementos puramente artísticos, como los osteodermos, están muy elegantemente colocados. No son abusivos, ni dan la sensación "monstruosa" en su acabado total. Un animal precioso. Es difícil para las empresas resistir la tentación de texturizar demasiado la piel de un modelo tan grande. La otra opción es hacer la textura lo más pequeña posible, lo que puede resultar técnicamente complicado. ¡HLG logra un equilibrio, como usted dice!
Siempre me gustan los osteodermos que son difíciles de ver. Aquellos que son demasiado ostentosos, no parecen reales. O peor aún, aquellas que están pintadas de otro color. Los osteodermos se encuentran debajo de la piel. Como tal, ¡no hay ninguna razón por la cual los colores sobre ellos deban ser increíblemente diferentes!
Very helpful video. I'll be getting mine from my local supplier, so quite a wait yet for it to reach them. I'm inclined to the blue but hadn't completely made up my mind, as I have time to see in hand models. What a stunning paint application on this "plain" version! Haolonggood have outdone themselves. Looking forward to part 2.
I hope that wherever you are, you won't be charged an arm and a leg for this. And yet I feel that with this offering, HLG has given collectors something that they would be happier, cost to benefit wise, than any of PNSO's unfortunately high-priced models. Hopefully you've made up your mind about the colour by now! I heard that in some places this is selling fast! 😁
@@DinosDragons I reserved the blue with my seller when it was first advertised, with an option to change when it arrives if I want another colour. Price should be absolutely fine, based on the Alamosaurus. There was a huge saving on shipping, so "it all came out in the wash", as we say!

By now I'm sure it has arrived! I know that in and of itself, the green will also be incredibly well done and satisfying. Indeed I think anyone, whatever colour they chose, would be very happy with their purchase! HLG really does it again!

This is really one of HLG's best works! They have never failed to impress since their first Apatosaurus, and I can't wait for the rest of them!
Excellent review again! Looking forward to Part 2 and the comparisons! I also ordered the Brown version, but I added the Green version instead of the Blue one. I had them sea shipped to the US. That's how I had my Alamosaurus shipped. It takes longer, but it's much cheaper and my Alamosaurus and its box arrived in mint condition! So I should be getting mine next month.
Congratulations on the Alamosaurus! I heard that some people may have damaged boxes, but as for the model itself, the box should be very good protection.
I think that if someone could order two, not just one, then brown should definitely be one of them! There is a complexity in that one that I felt my blue didn't have, and considering how it really look like a real animal, it will go very nicely with any collection.
As for the other, whichever colour you choose, I'm sure it will be very satisfying. It's amazing what HLG has been able to give us for such low prices, and I expect their upcoming models to reflect equally well on them!
Funny to know you were a bodybuider. I"m a lifetime natural bodybuider myself, i'm 51 years old now, and about 100kg for a height of 1,82, with low body fat, wich is ok, i guess... Although i'm between bodybuilding and powerlifting, right now. Well, i'm curious to see the blue version and size comparison, to make up my mind about this one. Brilliant review, as alwayays, my friend.
Well I can't claim to say I was a bodybuilder... I did bodybuilding! 😁 My own focus now is on calisthenics and functional strength; as an ectomorph it's just really stressful on my joints to do really heavy weights now.
Glad to meet a natural lifter. I see the current trend and it is very worrying indeed when it comes to PEDs. Many of my heroes from yesteryear are dead.
Power bodybuilding is a potent mix indeed! I believe I first read the idea in an old Mike Quinn (rest his soul) article. Done naturally is a very good mix. A bigger problem with people getting older than loss of strength is loss of power, and even older folks we put through power training as well. I wish you all the best in this! Don't stop training!

Believe me, in hand, you will have no regrets! I almost wish I had more money and more space... that green one is actually very nice as well! It's just that it's too similar to HLG's other green colour schemes. You WILL love yours! 😁😁

I wonder what the tallest sauropod shown in the teaser image is! Dreadnoughtus? Argentinosaurus? Patagotitan? I really hope it's a Dreadnoughtus because I don't think there are any 1:35 scale Dreadnoughtus figures.
It's pretty hard to say and I will withhold guessing until I see images! Silhouettes are hard to base very precise proportions on, and you can see in my Part 3 that they have even made minor changes to some of the sauropods, which may also have an effect on the finally morph. I await with much anticipation!

Both PNSO and haolongood are more realistic than Jurassic World Evolution's mamenchisaurus, which is depicted with a vertical neck.
To be fair though, I belive the Jurassic World Evolution one has got no interest at all to be scientific. The most painful sign of this is in the hands! 😮
