  • Restoration of a left-handed 2003 Gibson SG Special. This guitar was imported from Japan and was previously played right-handed... and then completely trashed. Let's see if we can save her!

Nice one Tom. Enjoyed that. The 23 seconds of blankness at the end gave me a much needed moment to reflect on how it would have probably been easier to carve a new body and make a new neck!

What 23 seconds? I don't know what you're talking about... never happened... definitely didn't mess that one up....

Hey thanks for your support! Guitar is long since sold I’m afraid - I was a bit slow in editing the videos of the repair!

This may come as a surprise but I have another two Les Pauls awaiting headstock repairs - one of which the previous owner literally sawed off! Coming to a UA-cam channel near you, albeit probably not soon!

      Any guitar neck could break

@@Vidar.mRight, but it seems that the Gibson SGs are the most famous for headstock/neck breaks, given they have extreme neck dive. For those that don’t know, neck dive is when a guitar’s headstock tilts downward when hanging on a standard strap, due to improper weight distribution. The neck is heavier than the body of the guitar, causing breaks like this to occur.

Firstly, congratulations on being my first ever negative comment! For what it’s worth, this is the abridged version. In reality I actually crapped on for hours. I’ve got some good news for you though - I had mic issues throughout the upcoming video, so there will either be no talking at all OR I’ll do what Cam from the awesome @Blacktailstudio does and do a voiceover talking the whole way through!
Leave a comment to let me know which you’d all prefer :)

@@1983Beardo No problems with the narration here, I like hearing your process, plus you're clearly not a jerk, which goes a long way (my other guitar repair go-tos are twoodfrd and Tanya Shpachuk, so I can go either way, talk-wise). Subscribed, looking forward to more!
