I rather see "bad" metalwork (which in my opinion it wasn't that bad at all) than no metal work. As long as you are not riviting in some trafic signs and putting thick bondo over it you are way ahead of the game. That oval is going to be awesome when done, thanks for the video.
we used to take those beams out and straighten them by putting them in a press. or you could use your hoist with a car on it support both ends with some stands. and drop the weight of a car down on the center. It works great.
Like your "just do it" attitude. For unique fabrication situations like that dash, improvisation can be just as important as skill. You have both in spades.
Damn, gotta give you mad props for finding a way to wrap your head around that project. Killer work, turned out way better than I could have done! Also, that’s a lot of editing to bleep out all of those words 😂😂
Hey thanks! I couldn't let her sit on Long Island any longer. It had been up for sale for a long time. I knew whatever we did to fix it would be better than letting it sit.
@@wickedwerks looking pretty good. that dash replacement was a tricky repair. Do you have a proper decklid? and save that apron even if you need to patch it up. those are expensive H aprons.
@@Mikefngarage I do not have the correct decklid. A local pin striper hand painted the decklid that came with the car with the shop logo so I’m definitely using that one
I was worried about doing that because it would thin the surrounding metal out and may make it more difficult to weld back together later. They make spot weld drills that are apparently the absolute tits but expensive and I’m broke 😂
I put the whole back end of the Monaco back together with a HF flux core welder! I was very fond of that thing but honestly after going over to Taylor’s gas welder it’s impossible to go back. Well worth the investment if you plan on bigger and better things - Ben

Much appreciated, thanks for watching!

Man I give you a lot of credit thats some major ass repairs !

Amazing. It's like watching a surgeon operating. Actually, better.
I can't imagine how you work out where to start but I love to watch the progress

I”t’s almost seamless except for the spots it’s not” 😂😂
You’re quite good Captain obvious 😂
What a massive and scary challenge . Great work though 👏 looking forward to your next update 👍
Yeah, it was pretty scary. But not as bad as what I did after that, stay tuned 😉 thanks for watching!
You are a brave man!
awesome job. that could not have been easy. cheers

Thank you!
I did actually have beeps in there but there were so many it sounded like a dial tone all the way through 😂 thanks for watching!
the bentley manual might have details on spot welds, etc to what to cut
That is a well unmolested bug your saving there. really original and untouched. haha. but I am glad your saving it. somebody needs to.

The dash looks good.
Thank you!
The endgame is getting the windshield to fit like budder
Trying not to think about it 😂
Very nice job! 👌🏽
Thanks for watching!
Nice work! And way to show some restraint with the F-bombs!!!
No restraint, just editing 😂
I have no idea what I’m doing however I found it easier to grind the spot welds till they pop over drilling out. Again I’m clueless and a hack.

@@wickedwerks a friend had one of those drill bits and all it would do is walk all over the place.
I may have to invest in argon so far I've been running Flux core and I manage to make it work but I know I would have an easier time with the gas...

Damn where are you that it's that rusty and crashed?
Rhode Island. Car came from New Jersey, who knows where it was before then.
