Scat C25 cam in a 1600-1776 is a great cam. This set up is almost exactly what all my builds are. Just enough over stock where it is a fun engine. Add some 1.25 rockers and it opens it up real well.. Great video...........And don't ignore the Permatex aviation Form-a-gasket...
You’re using the wrong sealant…. You should use Elmer’s glue 😂 According to CB, their rods you’re using, they recommend the bearing tangs should face down. I don’t remember off hand if that makes the CB logo face the way you have them. With that said, the rods aren’t offset so it shouldn’t matter either way. I love those rods over the AA rods and CB has a better price on them. Good stuff dude!!
I like your progression and why you do things. I’m new to your builds so I will go back and watch ALL your builds, that way I will be up to speed as you progress with this one. I won’t be making smart ass comments because they divert away from the learning curve you are presenting. Hi Taylor, ever considered to start a Patreon crowd funding for you projects? Anyway, thanks for this video, I always enjoy watching your clips while having breakfast... 🤟
No I haven’t. I’ve been asked this a few times lately and while I appreciate that people enjoy the content that much, id feel bad taking money without having something more to offer.
A rebuild with this crankshaft without modifing the oil transfert in the first bearing. It will not last long! The oil line aren't lined correctly with the bearing. Make some measurement, compare this crankshaft with an original, you'll understand.
I got a 1975 super beetle, fuel injected. And it’s running very poorly, seems to have a lack of compression and blow by. I’m assuming piston rings, first time working on one. Valve cover leaks oil, and missing what seems to be a pcv valve to intake. Could either of those cause a lack of compression? Before I pull the engine out and see wth is going wrong
A blocked PCV could certainly cause the leaks but it wouldn’t cause a compression loss or blowby. If it’s still fuel injected, it’s likely the original motor and it’s likely just tired. I, personally; and I know I’ll get flamed for this because I always do. In my opinion the factory fuel injection setups are trash. I personally prefer carb setups. Converting won’t solve your compression or blowby, but if you end up doing a rebuild, it does give you a lot more to play with performance-wise. The factory FI is for stock and stock only and, in my opinion, it’s a god damn nightmare.
@@wickedwerks yeah I agree with you on the FI, they’re a huge pain. And it seems like I’m dropping an engine, fun times 😂. I tried getting a compression test on their but I’ll be damned if i could get it on there. She turns over really quick it seems
@@sam03137 do a valve adjustment and see if it gets better. I’ve had a couple situations where the valves were adjusted too tight and hanging the valves open. Might get luckily but yeah, likely will need a top end. When you pull the engine, check your rear main bearing and make sure it isn’t flopping around in the case; I have a video example on my Instagram. If it is, motor is trash and you need a complete rebuild.
@@wickedwerks appreciate the help, I’m up in Vermont so it’s finally warm enough where I don’t mind sitting on my garage floor. Probably should get a wood stove in there 😆

Love the assembly video, thanks for sharing it with us! Love the red Bug!
I’m never likely to own a beetle, let alone rebuild its engine, but I love watching these videos. Thank for entertaining me on a cold wet Monday. 😀
thanks for taking us along on the build....what a beautious engine.

Of course when I called they didn’t mention that 😂 i agree, as long as theyre not offset they should be fine. Thanks for watching!

Good video! Will the Single Cab make it to the Dust Off?
Hoping so!
@@wickedwerks Should I bring a rope in case you need a tow? 😃
did you have to machine the Autolinea Case for the crankshaft and camshaft. im new to vws and i have 3 Ghias without engines.
No, it comes cut. I brought it to my machine to make sure it was cut properly.
Which lifters are you using with that camshaft?
The lifters that came with the kit.
can i purchase the vw mount to fit on my normal engine stand??
Yes, they’re designed to fit most engine stands

Would you be able to provide a parts list so I can build the same engine?
I sure can. Email me at wickedwerksvw@gmail.com and I’ll send you a spreadsheet.
Is that a counterweighted crank?
Yes
Is It hard to build a eng or ez
@@goblinking4995 It’s easy once you know how to do it correctly. Lots of things to check and double check
