as a person who loves playing Yorick, I find him to be oddly calming. you will lose lane almost every time but the moment you hit level 6 you know your maiden will give you some much needed breathing room and the endless ghouls will back you up a ton. Yorick is the champ to play when you trust no one but yourself honestly.
How do I win as Yorick? I push, then I die, and I respawn and push. And die, and respawn. And push. I just keep pushing. I'm 1/14, I give no gold, but I took 8 towers already. I am relentless, i am the tide of inexorable death. I will push to your nexus, and you will only waste time trying to stop me.
Don't know you still play Yorick yet but let me reveal small fact: Actually Yorick E + 4 Ghoul deal MOST dame both long-time and trade. Spam E alone better than hand-to-hand combat. I tested "Spam E" gameplay and safe to assume: good K/D/A and easy bully lane .
@@monsieurbres8062 The only enemy that i can't beat utterly is Urgot. His W erase all Ghoul. Irelia, not usual but Ignite/Exhaust + 4 Ghoul may happen. Other champ include tanks, farming and poke.
As a yorcik main, I'd say ur half right on that split pushing; yes if he gets caught he is most likely dead, but once u understand him u can take towers and inhibs like crazy. U didn't mention the fact that he can relate maiden down a lane and go elsewhere. This isn't used often, but for example I relased maiden top and when to drake and helped my team fight the enemy, and the maiden took out the inhibitor tower and and inhib. I'm actually happy he has a low pick rate tho, as almost never gets banned or picked against you, and people don't always know how to counter yiu
Exactly Yorick doesn't need to actually stay on the lane to push As a yorick main I just put ghouls top maiden bot then scare the enemy team at mid creating pressure which allows me to take towers like crazy
I have over 3k games on him rn and I have only ever seen him get banned 7 times. But I often get my teamates ban him because they simply don't want him on their team.

Late to the party, but as a Yorick main, this is why I play him. One key difference of maiden compared to Daisy/Tibbers that you didn't mention is that Maiden has no duration. She lasts until she or Yorick dies. Two: Yorick has a similar kind of deal to say, King K Rool in smash ultimate. What I mean is his archtype has large weaknesses, but he can deal with them better than others, but worse than others as well. Wheras K Rool in smash has a reflector to help vs zoners, a great distance wise recovery, and armor to help vs rushdown, Yorick has his E which makes him actually able to chase people, something other juggernauts cannot do at all. Likewise his E makes it so he can deal with ranged top laners wheras most juggernauts are crippled by them. And Yorick himself actually demolishes other juggernauts like Darius really well. What juggs struggle vs Yorick handles way, way easier...at the cost of teamfight potential. Three: Yorick is very rewarding for those great at macro. Releasing Maiden with good timing can let him splitpush while grouping with his team, which is awesome. Four: His w is super fun. Even if Yorick is behind he can trap people in W and just sick ghouls on them to get damage from complete safety. Thats why I love Yorick. But, especially in S11, Yorick is in a super weak spot, with no buffs on the horizon. Not to mention a literal laundry list of bugs, many quite game breaking (Corrupting pot no longer works on ghouls, said bug has been here almost a year. If Cloud Drake is killed while maiden is up Yorick will not get the ultimate ability haste. ) Nerfs to his ghouls hurt him crazy bad, and power creep has not been kind to Yorick. He went from a character with a great early game to a poor one, and many reworks and new champions just outmatch him in level 6 duals. Champions like reworked Morde or reworked Irelia, MU's that were hard but not impossible, became downright crippling. And some of his losing MU's like Renekton or Jax have only been getting stronger. Yorick is a juggernaut with a very unique kit, one that comes with unique strengths and weaknesses. This was a great video, and while there are some stuff I wish were mentioned (Maiden having 0 duration, Yorick having TONS of bugs that patch after patch never get fixed) I still love the champion. I don't play League as much as I used to, but the man with the shovel will always be remembered to me.
If you’ve never played approach velocity Yorik I think you’d enjoy it. If anyone pushes you up to tower, get 4 graves stacked. When u have at least level 4 and put 2 points in q, if you land an e they’re toast. You gain a huge burst of ms, have all of your minions crash them, and you can run faster than them meaning you can w faster than they can run away. You basically put them in a baby cage that they can’t escape. The most fun all in in league oml.
@@samhescott348 I used to play Approach Velocity a lot on Yorick. But I stopped playing it in favor of lane survival, gold efficiency, and burst, i. e. Grasp + cookies + free boots. Most people can't deal with me because I play like a ranged champion that you can't kill in the early game.

Hi, main Yorick here since not so much after his rework, playing in high diamond (no longer playing that much ranked now), i think you are missing a very important point of the champion. While a lot of ppl play him as a raidboss, thing that hes perfectly able to and is mostly seen in low elo (hes basically much stronger than most splitpushers but lacks escape as a disadvantage), the truth about the question "why is he a splitpusher if he has no escape?" is very simple: he doesnt need escapes because he doesnt need to be in a lane to push it. His passive makes him the most unique champion of the whole game, as he is able to let his pets pushing by him and, from level 13 on, take like 90% of the farm, wich includes gold and exp, for him, while he is doing other things like helping his team, taking monsters, objetives or just farm in other lane (yep, you can farm multiple lanes with him at once). Also, from min 25 in game, all minion waves spawn with a canon. Canon minions tank the tower before the mist walkers, wich means if nobody goes stop them and they hit an enemy tower, the time the tower needs to take down the canon, the pets will just eat the structure, even being able to 100-0. Also, you can free the maiden at lvl 16+ as she is so tanky that taking her down is extremely hard for most melee champs. Adcs eat her easy, but in certain matchups she basically acts as another champion creating a 6v5 scenario, and not having your maiden with out is not that horrible if you use your time correctly, because she doesnt represent as much as the champions damage as people think. The main reason nobody plays yorick in high elo is the amount of problems the champion has with his abilties and pets. The pets AI and the fact any auto or single objetive ability instakill them makes them extremely easy to counter in the eyes of skilled players, and once you counter the pets, you can easily bully yorick. Also, the E hitbox is extremely broken, the maiden is very easy to poke, the wall takes so long to appear that is very easy to evade, specially in high levels... The most important problem of the champion is the fact you dont really have a passive. You cant take your pets with you when your team needs your help unless you have ult launch ready (because she stays with you and have a very high cd, this is not very common), and also some mechanic that helps in teamfights would be welcome, for example making his E mark affect all yoricks allies. This are the kind of things main yoricks, who mostly play in mid-high elo, demand for changing. They dont really want to make the champion stronger, just fix the problems that make him extremely weak is high elos since in low elo he is farily strong.
@@paulinhosasuke11 I'm not playing seriously anymore but the changes had some good things and other not so good. In general the champ keeps the same high elo gate problems so I won't say he's healthy until they fix his code.

It wouldn’t fix his AI problem yeah, but then he could let them split push, and then not having to join a team fight handicapped. Could be a bit op in coordinated play though.
@@giahypham4111 no need for that. Yoricks pretty strong without maiden after lvl 13. She's like a 7% of your damage and if she's not at your back you don't have to worry about her suicidal tendencies.
What I get from the "why no one plays" series: if there's any conditionality to a champion, they'll be on this playlist in one way or another. Basically people want a very easy/straightforward to get value from champion that is flexible enough to forgive their mistakes. For example, champions without escapes or with contextual setups force way more map awareness from their players which may not be appealing to the mainstream player base.
Yorick suffers from that he can easily be kited. But if you’re smart about your splits you got this. Even if you’re behind, you can down A LOT of towers if you back off if someone converges. You can back with your maiden or use it to push and go elsewhere. But recently, after even so many games I’ve played, I only recent learned you could have your E up on a champion BEFORE you press Q to summon your minions. So if you miss your E, save the ghoul summon, but if you press Q only AFTER you land the passive, people don’t expect it. And if you wait until you land it, you will still have enough ghouls whenever you need them because you haven’t summoned them JUST to be killed. He’s definitely a lot more of a low elo powerhouse for sure though.
Some points i think were missed: 1. Ghouls can track people with invis 2. Ghouls block skill shots 3. Ghouls make diving a breeze since they can take 4 turret shots allowing you to chase them under/past tower 4. The cluster fuck a yorick can create in a team fight with all his minions up 5. Lvl1 maiden and ghouls can solo first 3 drags, lvl2 take towers if wave is set up correctly, lvl3 shes basicly worth 1.5 of a champ with ghouls and wave and ive seen her solo adcs and supports who try to catch crashing wave 6. Behind or ahead, all the farm is yours 7. You can set up picks in tf's by zoning adcs and mages with minions, and locking down their frontline 8. Build more damage and ghouls will end at 20, or build more health and you end at 20 9. I guess this only applys to low elo, but really effective at dealing with ranged abusers in top 10. Last but not least, the terror of someone trying to understand your kit for the first 10 minutes is priceless
Recently picked up Yorick and it's been pretty fun. Watching champs I usually loathe to fight struggle with the ghouls or getting an entire team sent after me because of my splitpishing makes it feel like I have an impact on the game.
I’m a yorick main. My biggest complaint is that I’m s9 riot said they were going to try to keep yorick under tuned because of their fear of his impact on low elo. And how he would ruin players who don’t know what the champion does. Which really is too bad, I’ve learned ghost blade will help with a lot of his problems. And he uses lethality well. Get the item second or third if you are looking to pick him up

@@imnothighipromise1563 I really like rushing dirrk first, the sitting on it. I often finish T force the DD before I finish the ghost blade. But the early lethality really makes your really dmg surprise your opponents and I get some early kills that way

TBH I usually go triforce or sunderer depending on my lane opponent first item then build hullbreaker. It’s just too good for him to pass up. It DOUBLES DAMAGE AGAINST TOWERS AND QUADRUPLES WITH HIS Q. Plus demolisher Q, you 2 shot towers making it so the enemy HAS TO come to you or you take their inhib.
@@jacktom3799 well he's busted no one plays him that's why, but he's a hard garen counter, fiora counter, darius counter, irelia and shen are supposed to counter him but they just don't. he basically wins most match ups apart from wukong and riven but he's not that good in team fights, he's a split pusher
yorick main here from season 4 the thing with yorick is that the amount of weakness, cons you have unfortunantly doesnt outweigh the pros. yorick is also actually team realiant. theres more thnings i wana say but im way to tired to write anymore LOOL. +1 like

I main Yorick - (Gold4) NA. Yorick is such a buggy champ. I can E the rift herald and it does not proc my ghouls. The scuttle crab can walk right out of my W. There’s a host of other bugs as well

Honestly I'd like to see him get a mini rework where he gets a second ability that spawns a different type of minion. That was one of the fun things about Old Yorik summoning the different types of ghouls to mess with people
Yorick's W lasts a full 4 seconds, though. If your opponent can't get out of it, that's close to the longest CC duration in the game. Only Ashe's arrow can lock people down for longer than that. It can also be a massive pain in the ass even if your opponent can dash out of it; if they're fighting you, you can repeatedly move in and out of the ring so they still can't hit you. And if you're forcing your opponent to waste AAs hitting the wall instead of you, that's an absolute win.
I'm a 2M Diamond Hardstuck Yorick main and one thing I know for sure that makes it so not many people stick to him is how many champions actually counter him.. Don't get me wrong, once mastered or with enough expirience you can fight around his weaknessess and counterpicks but some are just impossible the higher you get. Here's a list of Champions that either Counter yorick, hard counter him or just have the advantage but otherwise its a skill matchup if you're good on him: Tryndamere - Bully, can Spam his E ignoring your W and can easily dive you and outsustain Irelia - Yorick's Pets can be one shot by single target abilities, so Irelia can use her Q to just stack her passive miss E and R but still win the trade, so you never have Ghouls. Yasuo - Skill matchup but his E is slower but works the same as Irelia, he can just dance around you and not die and eventually force an all in when your without ghouls. Jax - His counterstrike and Mobility and he's very statchecky considering his free AS and Defensive stats from his Passive and Ult. Shen - Not only can he split and teamfight, but his W works just like jax and his early game is better than his just like most champions, since Yorick Q and Pets scale per lvl. Kled - His E is buggy, so it one shots Ghouls, outside of that his E is fast enough to hit you before you can wall him in or out, and his Q lowers your sustain from your own Q. Morde - Old one's W used Ghouls to heal up, now his R just removes them from play, forcing you into QSS or weird builds / playstyles to win ( I run TP Ignite to win vs him) Hecarim - Not a hard one, but his W heals off your ghouls and R can fear them, and he can E your wall and hop out ontop of better trading, thankfully Hec top is rare. Renekton - One of his top 3 counters (Trynd, Jax, Irelia, shen) being the other ones, He's just a bully, Mobile and heals off your pets with his Q, Bork made things worst. Fiora - Skill matchup but she can just outduel you hard before you get to setup much, but at the highest lvl she can just all in you before you can get pets due to her mobility. Heimerdinger - Its You, but AP and ranged with pets that auto lock on you, you can win, but its unfavorable from beginning to the end ( I run comet vs him to win mostly) I probably forgot one of them, (Not Teemo, he's a skill matchup but his only advantage is being ranged, which counters most melees by default), but yeah these counter him. Cho'gath mains are annoying cause their R can kil your R most of the time, but luckily most don't do it, while Camille is strong and can just dash a mile away even if she used her E to engage already, it just hard for them to derp out in higher elos, so you can't kill her due to her mobility, just stronger, but not a counter IMO. Ontop of all of this its like you said, he's meant for splitpushing but lacks escape, meaning you can camp him or collapse on him wether he's fed or not fairly easily. While he can always have pressure even when behind, that's all he can do if the enemy top can just team fight better than him ontop of it all. I can be Fed ASF in some games, doesn't change much but how fast enemy will collapse on me or focus me down in a 3v3 skirmish, cause you're still melee, Immobile with no hard CC and missing E and W means you just gotta walk on them ontop of all of this he's the 1# Juggernaut IMO but he lacks one thing all the others have, Defense. Most Juggernauts have a Shield or a Big source of sustain or just a Niche that makes them tanky, Voli has Shield and Tower diving and W sustain, Darius has his AoE Q heal, Garen has regen and free dmg reduction and stats in his W, same with Shyvanna passive, though she's outdatd, Nasus has lifesteal proccing of his Q, Morde has shield and heal, Udyr is the same deal, Trundle is mostly sustain, Mundo is sustain regen etc etc, in a teamfight they all have atleast one spell or trait that can make them durable or sustain, But Yorick has nothing, his Q is single target and is flat HP and only heals for double when he's low which is just 80-160 heal at lvl 18, because it scales off his lvl. Meaning he's weak early dmg wise due to previous ghoul and maiden %HP Nerf, his Healing is also weak starting at 12 heal flat, comparing this to everyone else his sustain or durability is the weakest, if he doesn't build resists, all he has is his base stats, which most juggernauts have great base stats but also a defensive tool in the form of Free MR/Armor, Sustain or shield, but Yorick has neither of these, since his Q heal is 12 - 82 based off lvl, while Talons is 10 - 70 based off lvl. only difference is that his can be doubled when low, but unlike all the others, his Q Healing doesn't have a Ratio or scaling either, Darius/Illaoi's scale off their missing HP so more HP Helps, same with Udyr W and Mundo and Garen Regen etc etc, but he just doesn't have that, I tried highlighting this back in 2018 when he was weaker before he got his 2019 buff and spiked. But Alas Poor Yorick.

I started playing yorick today and I let my maiden and 4 mist walkers loose on the bot lane and they destroyed all three turrets and were ignored until they reached the inhibitor. It was amazing. While I was aiding in objective I was simultaneously taking bot lane.
All other Juggnauts focus on being raid boss. Yorick? Yorick has things to do. Focus on being commander of legion instead. Or talking wife and kids on very productive stroll. Whichever you prefer

Been a year since this video. Idk if much has changed but the pressure this guy can give just through lane pushing has saved me a few times. Had my mid dc (he was hard carrying) and my team wanted to give up but I just casually pushed top nd bottom (inhibs included) and claimed the last drake soul and the guy came back bewildered at how far back they were pushed and how winnable it was. Also my first Pentakill was that game with him.
I mained him pre rework and he was the most fun pick as far as I remember. I think he was actually easier, more flexible and more unique back then. I don’t enjoy him that much nowadays, but After your great video I might pick him up again! thank u for your great videos! Much Love!
Yorick was my best toplaner about 3 seasons ago, I still play him from time to time and I still love him. Thought , I know riot hates him/forgot about him. You can tell by the fact that his minions despite being crucial to his playstyle, are not hidden by hemtech mist.
I've been a jhin main since his release and I pick up yorick a few months ago. I absolutely love this champ. When I first saw reworked yorick I thought has ghouls were cool, but he seemed to lack that OOMF that jhin's autos have. Thank god I chose to give him a chance a few months ago cuz damn is he fun. I actually enjoy the setup on yorick's damage cuz it feels so satisfying when I pull everything off perfectly. I think what also caught my attention was how no one picked him. It kinda made him feel like the underdog. It might feel like you should lose, but DAMN when you do good it feels amazing. Also yorick's W is busted. I got away from a 2v1 I would've lost just by walking in circles around my W.
I play Yorick fairly often. Your definition of a raid boss was surprising to me, because that was exactly how I thought of Yorick's job in the game (though with towers instead of enemy champions). Well done!
Yorick is basically my main/pocket top pick and I’d say the reason he’s rarely played is also what makes him fun: He is very unique. While his kit is fairly easy to use, he’s nit easy to play *effectively*. You need great map awareness, good warding skill and a lot of resource- and cooldown management. Moreover, teleport is basically a key part of his skillset. If you manage to pull it off, you can easily get 8 towers per game. But you need a lot of general in game experience.
Yup, i think you got it pretty on the nose in most accounts here His 1v1 capability is strong like most juggernauts, and he trades mobility in the splitpush for bonkers tower-taking. However I think his 2v1 and 3v1 are weaker than most other juggernauts because he really lacks a clear "trigger" to turn fights in his favor. Darius has his 5 stack ult reset, illaoi has her multi-champ ultimate, urgot has a big fear with a successful ulti, morde has his ulti which allows him to make a 5v1 into a 1v1 and then he has the boosted stats afterward... but yorick doesn't really have a clear path to win larger fights except hitting multiple Es, good W's to pick targets off, and just... killing them lol. He's much like Nasus in that sense I think, who you briefly mentioned as having similar problems to yorick. His teamfight is also weaker than other juggernauts due to his lack of AOE, which you mentioned, his lack of a general "big fight win condition," which I just mentioned, and also to his maiden and ghouls being quite unwieldy in a teamfight scenario - they're vulnerable to being picked off or poked out in standoffs around baron or drag for example. In general his damage is pretty difficult to set up, since you need ghouls and it takes a while to get new ones without using maiden. This also means your early game is super weak, which probably turns people off of him. He struggles to fight anywhere that isn't a lane, so contesting rift or fights in the jungle usually mean you don't have any ghouls to assist you. Your maiden also needs to constantly be protected by running really far away to drag her to safety, which is sometimes annoying to deal with. I will say though that yorick is vastly superior to pretty much all other juggernauts when it comes to dealing with ranged targets. His E range is actually massive because it can splash quite a bit farther past the max 700 cast range, then he has his ghoul hop and move speed increase to run people down, and his W to lock them in. His burst is pretty high as well so he can annihilate the squishy ranged targets when he catches them, with his maiden bonus damage proc + Q shovel bonk + 4 ghouls autoing a few times.
The way you described the juggernaut class sounds like so much fun!!! I wanna play a juggernaut now. But as far as Yorick goes. He's a champ i've been interested in (since the rework) but honestly i didnt' feel like rereading and trying out what it takes to get his ghouls to jump out.
I am a Yorick main and I personally like his style. He has a very similar feel to mordekaiser, their abilities are pretty similar i feel as I used to be a mordekaiser main. I grew tired of mordekaiser however as he felt to simple. Yorick feels like what mordekaiser could have been especially seeing as in one of mordekaisers stories it told of him turning his foes into soldiers for his own army. Yorick is very much like an english farmer where he needs to work for his power. You till the soil (your Q) and sow the seeds (the bodies of your foes). Its a hard but honest living and once its harvest time? Pluck those lil vegetables from the ground, put your main dish in a bowl (using W around a foe) throw your seasoning on it (throw E on the foe), then mix your vegetables in with it (gouls or cats if you use the cat skin like me ;3) and boom! you are eating good tonight xD.
Before this video gets released As a yorick main I'd like to give my thoughts on him I'll keep it short So I haven't really picked him lately due to the sole reason of him being too weak or at least he feels like that Truth be told he's balanced which is usually a good thing however. There are way more unbalanced champions that make yorick seem weak Most people I've seen that play yorick just stay out of fights and just push (which is great and all but team fights become a 4v5) Usually a yorick's main objective is pushing if you can take down 2 towers early you practically won the game due to the towers's global gold
Been a Yorick main since the rework. Never found him weak. I actually reach mid diamond every season. I admit his early is shit. But his macro presssure and mid game teamfighting is just.....lovely
God i disagree. Not being able to bully the shit out of your lane (which you can in at least a solid 50% of the matchups) doesn't mean that he feels weak. He's in a great spot. Just because there are a couple champs who hard counter and you cant learn to farm and wait till late game doesn't mean he's weak.

U forgot somthing super important. He doesn't have to put himself in danger to split push. He can send maiden down a lane by herself and she will take every tower it forces a champion to go stop her. And best of all u can get 4 ghouls from another lane while she's doing that. So u don't lose out on all of ur minion damage. It is true tho he doesn't have the 1v5 aoe potential that Most juggernaut. But with his slow and circle grab. He can play as a somewhat decent vanguard. Starting engagements and diving in taking the brunt of the damage for his team. This is made even better if u have a hook suppor like thresh and blitz second their grabbed u stop them from running and throw ur minions on them. I feel his prob unpopular bc he takes a good amount of macro play. U need to be good at getting vision control so u kno when u can split with ur maiden. And if u can't then u need to keep the maiden for increase fighting potential. His weaker early game (pre 6) against a lot of match ups garen ranged Champs teemo Darius all can beat him very early so u need to play safe and be good with wave manipulation even tho his kit makes that hard to do if u summon ghouls to push. He takes a lot of thought and I imagine ppl like feeling powerful and strong and able to dominate when their playing a juggernaut. He doesn't give that same adrenaline rush as a resetting slaughtering Darius. But I feel he more makes up for it in his ability to lock down and shut down carries and utility.

There are a lot of champions that one can play with, it doesn't matter if a champion is "popular" or not, the unpleasant thing is that they play with the buff and nerf in each patch playing with the power of each champion
There are a lot of games where I don't release Jessica, mostly because I don't trust my teammates to set the proper presure in the map to make the Jessica's split relevant. As you say, Yorick depents of his team. Recently Jessica behavior get "buffed" so she doesn't overstay and suicide in towers in laning phase. Something you forgot to say is that Yorick's kit is incredible for your jungle ganks, specialy for early junglers like Elise and Lee Sin. You lock someone and between both have 4 sec of pleasure XD.
Great Video, only criticism I have is that he doesn't out dps people like vayne or Yi, the Maiden proc has a 2 sec cd, and since he can only focus one champ at a time it's a bit of a problem when teamfighting. Other than that everything else hits the mark, well done! :)
Let's not forget that his maiden, or even the ghouls, counter what you actually want to be doing in most cases, you cannot freeze lanes, you cannot even slowpush lanes, because they autoshove everything close to them. And it's not like you can just dismiss the maiden, or have it stand outside of lane, you COULD let it die, but that's 50 gold for your enemy and a 3 minute cooldown at rank 1 in which most of your dueling strength is just kinda gone.
New Yorick is my main. Love the boy. Like that he's not popular too. Keeps them out of the constant buff/nerf pendulum that popular champs go through. Yorick just kind of gets to be in an okay state that's feels good.
That feeling when Riot reworks the champ they literally shoved under the rug hoping no one would notice he existed only to leave him by the wayside after giving him the TLC he needed.
As yorick main I've carried enough games to notice that the right build can really make the difference When you build Yomus as 2md item and Dead man's plate with mobility boots you will be fast enough and if u have flash or use ure W correct nobody will be able to catch you after u broken down their inhib also Heralds are so important By taking ingite 1st blood and 1st tower u have much gold to buy the items I told also once u break enemy's 1st 2 towers u can go inside jugle backdoor and spawn ure herald in front of inhibitor tower then u will take tower and inhibitor Also with ure ult active and some lifestral you can easily solo baron
Some problems of yorik are adressed, while some others are not. I just want to add MY worst complaints with the boy 1. Minion AI: Yes, his ghouls are supposed to be "stupid" as in not directly manouverable and going for the closes enemy but minion AI in general just completely fucks them over. They can get stuck on minons if other enemy minons pass by their target, the often spasm out when a big wave forms it's imfamous caster wall, just like canons. They also can't deal with high mobility champions as they sometimes just start spinning after mobility is used due to riots spagetti code not knowing what to do in that situation. Maiden is an even worse case as all ghould problem applie to, yet her "follow" makes everything even worse. Her succ animations last way longer than her actual damage and instead of tethering to an enemy and dealing permanent damage, she NEEDS to stand still and twizzle her hands. Meanwhile tibbers just exists near you with his aura and daisy can stick to you due to knock up and slow. She already is single target, her damage shouldn't be reliable on the enemy staying in range long enough for her animations to start/stop. Her follow distance is also very awkward. She often stays behind and eats two/three tower shots before following you who was never in tower range to begin with. Her needing to finish her animation furtherly extends the distance to yorik once more. I don't want to be able to manouver her like daisy or tibbers because that would be too strong but I would be very happy of her staying closer to yorik in general and having some sort of improved priority mechanism. She already starts attacking marked enemies or enemies that attack yorik, but she doesn't come back for quite a while. Marking enemies should extend her follow range on them but staying close to yorik should be top priority as setting her free makes less sence as it is now. 2. Actual pushing: Taking towers is pretty much the only thing yorik is known for. Yet he simply is not the best at it. Every Garen, Yone or Camille destroys towers just as quick due to their short timer true damage or insane base stats while also being better at wave clearing due to insane AOE. I think that yorik should be a niche pick, yet best at what he does, similar to Ziggs with his tower execute. Clonking a tower should aleast add to his graves so he can consistently respawn ghouls under the tower. Also maiden comes in once again here. She is his best tool to push as her increased damage make up a little for having no AOE to push, yet she is the worst tool to actually do anything with a push when ur enemy laner is present. Besides of seemingly always placing herself in tower range to attack minions, she makes it impossible for yorik to push tower while she is out. As soon as you walk to an enemy cought under a tower, maiden will tether to him for a split second before he walks back with nearly no damage taken and you are stuck with turret aggro. Garen can run in, wait for demolition, justice a tower and walk out again without you being able to really touch him in a significant way, yet yorik the tower destroyer is prevented from doing so by his main tower pushing ability. As long as minions are in her range, maiden should automatically position herself out of tower range and enemies should only be attack under tower if they are marked or already chased into range, i.e, in a fight already. Right now you can prevent a yorik from pushing just by being there as they can just abuse maidens range and AI to let u have permanent turret aggro. 3. Lackluster heal: Don't get me wrong, yorik has very good healing capabilities with conquerer and shover but it sadly is just too relient on the shovels cooldown ad, once again, no AOE damage makes conquerer way worse than it is on other champs. The healing on the shovel must either stack its heal similar to hecarims increased damage on Q or just increased in general. He can't run away, just as a Darius, yet he heals a fraction and can't execute. 4. Maiden: As said before; Maiden has bad AI, gets stuck and has to many forced animations while also actively hindering Yorick in doing what he is supposed to. But maiden has one more problem; and that is an identity problem. While stuck to Yorick, maiden doesn't feel like a good ally as she his hard to control and positions very badly on her own while not really hard following Yorick either, always having some distance betwenn them, making it even less intuitive to position her in a way. But her released form is somehow even worse. While it is nice to get farm while not on a lane, neither her pushing, nor her fighting power make up for the insane cooldown. A maiden, if left alone, will take several minutes to push to a tower and then deals miniscule damage to it, granted she won't start attcking minions just in tower range, leaving her dead before she hit it a single time. Every team with half a brain can send someone to the lane in that time and kite her akward range, killing her quite quickly, without her recovering or even staying focused on the enemy. The only "good" way to set maiden free is when inhib tower is down so she can push the inhib. but then we have the same problems again: You are either close enough to attack the inhib with her anyway, making the push more effective OR you have to set her free in a distance where she has to push atleast two waves on her own wich is more than enough time for the enemy to respond. In my opinion, Maiden is the best and worse pet in the game at the same time just because of her potential but then her frustating stupidity.
yorick split push doesnt run away like trynd, yorick split push says "come at me bro" and wins the 1v3. at least thats how it goes for me, yoricks damage with maiden+4minions + especially a minion wave is easily capable of winning 1v2s and usually 1v3s even when a little behind (obviously if you 0/6 this wont work) especcially once you built hull breaker. no one respects his damage till he puts them in a circle and smacks em with a hammer till they die. i once won a 1v4 in their base, won the 1v4 took out both towers and the nexus for game.

I will say that with the introduction of items like helmbreaker and divine sunderer yorick fits and executes the raid boss almost perfectly. Then again this is roughly a year after this video was released so patches might've changed some things here and there
Uncle Yorick is one of the greatest champion not only for split pushing & 1v2 but he is great to take objectives like turrets, dragons, baron or enemies jungle camps so easily that Yorick's kinda creates a second team with his ghouls & his mistmaiden & if you time it good, you can send your undead team further to the lane when you can go back with your maiden to heal her in base, thats why when Yorick has his ult he doesnt need his team for dragon or even baron for he can easily do it solo in a speed to let the people remind that objectives still exist. In teamfights he isnt great at starting the fight but he got the power to finish it, kinda like a warden does, also because Yorick's ghouls can jump marked enemies he can be very strong against range top laners when you got the ghouls to do so especialy with Conqueror rune.
You forgot the fact that recasting his ult releases the maiden down the closest lane to spit push while you help out the team while the maiden continues to push while at the same time getting you not only gold but XP as well. Yorick is the Best split pusher ever if you know how to use him right.
I would say the lack of control over the maiden is another problem. You cannot pke with your e if you have maiden up because the maiden will spend at least 5 seconds going after the enemy and they will destroy her, and she cant regenerate health. Also when pushing the tower prioritizes her, and when trying to leave she stays a little too long and can often take a shot or two more than necessary. Ithink if there can be better control of her that will lead to a lot of people to pick him up.
Playing Yorick in low ELO makes me realize that if you have an idiot jungle who doesn't use your split push to take objectives you're screwed because either the whole enemy team is going to try to kill you or you're leaving your team with one less person to help in teamfights
The nice thing about yorick is that hes surprisingly flexible He can split without being in a lane with his ghouls and maiden He can peel his team with his w and his very presence is a death sentence to anyone who gets close He can deal better with ranged match ups compared to other juggernauts if he goes with glacial and rushes stridebreaker. Tho im not sure how much this stays true with the removal of that god forsaken dash Regardless, the moment you get close to break their knees, youl be able to bury em
yorick main here something you forgot: yorick can actually release his maiden, and at ranks 2 and 3 he can actually push 2 lanes at once. however the time and effort players would need to put in, or have the prior macro knowledge to figure out how and when to do this is another reason more of his power seems unaccessable to a lot of players. another thing is that near the end of the video you said something about a split push meta, but i'm pretty sure split pushing is still strong. its just very different and arguably harder to do on yorick (i.e instead of pushing, seeing enemies come, and escaping using mobility skills or wasting time, while yorick can split with maiden, multiple batches of ghouls, or have solid enough macro to confidently commit to pushes).
splitpush is still viable. wouldnt be near saying its strong. but youre right. splitpushing with yorick is alot less viable than any other champions. atleast with nasus you have infinite q scaling. while yorick has a giant ball of hp which enemys can reliably kill.
yorick can be a tank your team needs and he often has a negative k/d but takes towers to make up for it. I have had multiple games with yorick where all the enemies went mid to push while they were fed, burned my allies, and then I took there tower, inhib, two near towers, and nexus (ok one of the times I only took the stuff after inhib but still). you can't ignore yorick no matter what and that's why he is so good
ive watched several of these videos only to find out every champion i deeply love is considered an anti carry, but yorick being considered an anti carry was a surprise, yet i shouldve known
the fact that ghouls no matter hwo fed he is are one shot by anything single target by champions makes it dangerous to fight characters that can instantly remove ghouls
New buffs coming out next patch look like they'll help him a lot outside of team fights, less set up required for him to actually fight his lane opponent.

i used to main yorick because i love split pushing, winning 1v1s super hard and demolishing towers in seconds however i also found a love for infinite scaling on veigar, so when i learned there was a champ that was both a split pushing nightmare a 1v1 king late game, and a tower destroyer who also scaled? i dropped yorick and ran into susan's open loving arms
I play dota 2 and play a lot of nature's prophet. And one of my favorite things to do is to push multiple lanes at once. When I tried league I liked yorick very much for that reason alone. I also like the fact that you can ignore the skills of your enemies and if they have more kills than your team since all those things don't matter if you win in the end anyway.
Dude honestly yorick is my old reliable. Back when I started to play league like a couple months after his rework I was having trouble finding a champ I like and yorick just got that slot. For me he has that tanky side I can just go in and slap someone while still being able to deal some dmg. I like the idea that I’m not exactly the dmg but I have things helping me do it even if maiden can be wonky and I wished she didn’t like to tower dive as much.

as a person who loves playing Yorick, I find him to be oddly calming. you will lose lane almost every time but the moment you hit level 6 you know your maiden will give you some much needed breathing room and the endless ghouls will back you up a ton. Yorick is the champ to play when you trust no one but yourself honestly.
How do I win as Yorick? I push, then I die, and I respawn and push. And die, and respawn. And push. I just keep pushing. I'm 1/14, I give no gold, but I took 8 towers already. I am relentless, i am the tide of inexorable death. I will push to your nexus, and you will only waste time trying to stop me.
Don't know you still play Yorick yet but let me reveal small fact: Actually Yorick E + 4 Ghoul deal MOST dame both long-time and trade. Spam E alone better than hand-to-hand combat. I tested "Spam E" gameplay and safe to assume: good K/D/A and easy bully lane

As a yorcik main, I'd say ur half right on that split pushing; yes if he gets caught he is most likely dead, but once u understand him u can take towers and inhibs like crazy. U didn't mention the fact that he can relate maiden down a lane and go elsewhere. This isn't used often, but for example I relased maiden top and when to drake and helped my team fight the enemy, and the maiden took out the inhibitor tower and and inhib.
I'm actually happy he has a low pick rate tho, as almost never gets banned or picked against you, and people don't always know how to counter yiu

Late to the party, but as a Yorick main, this is why I play him.
One key difference of maiden compared to Daisy/Tibbers that you didn't mention is that Maiden has no duration. She lasts until she or Yorick dies.
Two: Yorick has a similar kind of deal to say, King K Rool in smash ultimate. What I mean is his archtype has large weaknesses, but he can deal with them better than others, but worse than others as well. Wheras K Rool in smash has a reflector to help vs zoners, a great distance wise recovery, and armor to help vs rushdown, Yorick has his E which makes him actually able to chase people, something other juggernauts cannot do at all. Likewise his E makes it so he can deal with ranged top laners wheras most juggernauts are crippled by them. And Yorick himself actually demolishes other juggernauts like Darius really well. What juggs struggle vs Yorick handles way, way easier...at the cost of teamfight potential.
Three: Yorick is very rewarding for those great at macro. Releasing Maiden with good timing can let him splitpush while grouping with his team, which is awesome.
Four: His w is super fun. Even if Yorick is behind he can trap people in W and just sick ghouls on them to get damage from complete safety.
Thats why I love Yorick. But, especially in S11, Yorick is in a super weak spot, with no buffs on the horizon. Not to mention a literal laundry list of bugs, many quite game breaking (Corrupting pot no longer works on ghouls, said bug has been here almost a year. If Cloud Drake is killed while maiden is up Yorick will not get the ultimate ability haste. )
Nerfs to his ghouls hurt him crazy bad, and power creep has not been kind to Yorick. He went from a character with a great early game to a poor one, and many reworks and new champions just outmatch him in level 6 duals. Champions like reworked Morde or reworked Irelia, MU's that were hard but not impossible, became downright crippling. And some of his losing MU's like Renekton or Jax have only been getting stronger.
Yorick is a juggernaut with a very unique kit, one that comes with unique strengths and weaknesses. This was a great video, and while there are some stuff I wish were mentioned (Maiden having 0 duration, Yorick having TONS of bugs that patch after patch never get fixed) I still love the champion. I don't play League as much as I used to, but the man with the shovel will always be remembered to me.
If you’ve never played approach velocity Yorik I think you’d enjoy it. If anyone pushes you up to tower, get 4 graves stacked. When u have at least level 4 and put 2 points in q, if you land an e they’re toast. You gain a huge burst of ms, have all of your minions crash them, and you can run faster than them meaning you can w faster than they can run away. You basically put them in a baby cage that they can’t escape. The most fun all in in league oml.
Also quick trick if u spawn the ghouls BEFORE u use e, they jump instantly rather than having to rise first.

@@samhescott348 I used to play Approach Velocity a lot on Yorick. But I stopped playing it in favor of lane survival, gold efficiency, and burst, i. e. Grasp + cookies + free boots. Most people can't deal with me because I play like a ranged champion that you can't kill in the early game.

Hi, main Yorick here since not so much after his rework, playing in high diamond (no longer playing that much ranked now), i think you are missing a very important point of the champion. While a lot of ppl play him as a raidboss, thing that hes perfectly able to and is mostly seen in low elo (hes basically much stronger than most splitpushers but lacks escape as a disadvantage), the truth about the question "why is he a splitpusher if he has no escape?" is very simple: he doesnt need escapes because he doesnt need to be in a lane to push it. His passive makes him the most unique champion of the whole game, as he is able to let his pets pushing by him and, from level 13 on, take like 90% of the farm, wich includes gold and exp, for him, while he is doing other things like helping his team, taking monsters, objetives or just farm in other lane (yep, you can farm multiple lanes with him at once). Also, from min 25 in game, all minion waves spawn with a canon. Canon minions tank the tower before the mist walkers, wich means if nobody goes stop them and they hit an enemy tower, the time the tower needs to take down the canon, the pets will just eat the structure, even being able to 100-0. Also, you can free the maiden at lvl 16+ as she is so tanky that taking her down is extremely hard for most melee champs. Adcs eat her easy, but in certain matchups she basically acts as another champion creating a 6v5 scenario, and not having your maiden with out is not that horrible if you use your time correctly, because she doesnt represent as much as the champions damage as people think.
The main reason nobody plays yorick in high elo is the amount of problems the champion has with his abilties and pets. The pets AI and the fact any auto or single objetive ability instakill them makes them extremely easy to counter in the eyes of skilled players, and once you counter the pets, you can easily bully yorick. Also, the E hitbox is extremely broken, the maiden is very easy to poke, the wall takes so long to appear that is very easy to evade, specially in high levels... The most important problem of the champion is the fact you dont really have a passive. You cant take your pets with you when your team needs your help unless you have ult launch ready (because she stays with you and have a very high cd, this is not very common), and also some mechanic that helps in teamfights would be welcome, for example making his E mark affect all yoricks allies. This are the kind of things main yoricks, who mostly play in mid-high elo, demand for changing. They dont really want to make the champion stronger, just fix the problems that make him extremely weak is high elos since in low elo he is farily strong.

@@giahypham4111 no need for that. Yoricks pretty strong without maiden after lvl 13. She's like a 7% of your damage and if she's not at your back you don't have to worry about her suicidal tendencies.
What I get from the "why no one plays" series: if there's any conditionality to a champion, they'll be on this playlist in one way or another.
Basically people want a very easy/straightforward to get value from champion that is flexible enough to forgive their mistakes. For example, champions without escapes or with contextual setups force way more map awareness from their players which may not be appealing to the mainstream player base.
Yorick suffers from that he can easily be kited.
But if you’re smart about your splits you got this. Even if you’re behind, you can down A LOT of towers if you back off if someone converges.
You can back with your maiden or use it to push and go elsewhere.
But recently, after even so many games I’ve played, I only recent learned you could have your E up on a champion BEFORE you press Q to summon your minions.
So if you miss your E, save the ghoul summon, but if you press Q only AFTER you land the passive, people don’t expect it. And if you wait until you land it, you will still have enough ghouls whenever you need them because you haven’t summoned them JUST to be killed.
He’s definitely a lot more of a low elo powerhouse for sure though.

Some points i think were missed:
1. Ghouls can track people with invis
2. Ghouls block skill shots
3. Ghouls make diving a breeze since they can take 4 turret shots allowing you to chase them under/past tower
4. The cluster fuck a yorick can create in a team fight with all his minions up
5. Lvl1 maiden and ghouls can solo first 3 drags, lvl2 take towers if wave is set up correctly, lvl3 shes basicly worth 1.5 of a champ with ghouls and wave and ive seen her solo adcs and supports who try to catch crashing wave
6. Behind or ahead, all the farm is yours
7. You can set up picks in tf's by zoning adcs and mages with minions, and locking down their frontline
8. Build more damage and ghouls will end at 20, or build more health and you end at 20
9. I guess this only applys to low elo, but really effective at dealing with ranged abusers in top
10. Last but not least, the terror of someone trying to understand your kit for the first 10 minutes is priceless

Watching champs I usually loathe to fight struggle with the ghouls or getting an entire team sent after me because of my splitpishing makes it feel like I have an impact on the game.

I’m a yorick main. My biggest complaint is that I’m s9 riot said they were going to try to keep yorick under tuned because of their fear of his impact on low elo. And how he would ruin players who don’t know what the champion does. Which really is too bad, I’ve learned ghost blade will help with a lot of his problems. And he uses lethality well. Get the item second or third if you are looking to pick him up

Isn't it better to get trinity force and sterak's before going lethality? I feel like the added 50% AD from Sterak's are just too op to miss out on
@@imnothighipromise1563 I really like rushing dirrk first, the sitting on it. I often finish T force the DD before I finish the ghost blade. But the early lethality really makes your really dmg surprise your opponents and I get some early kills that way

TBH I usually go triforce or sunderer depending on my lane opponent first item then build hullbreaker. It’s just too good for him to pass up. It DOUBLES DAMAGE AGAINST TOWERS AND QUADRUPLES WITH HIS Q. Plus demolisher Q, you 2 shot towers making it so the enemy HAS TO come to you or you take their inhib.
And about one week ago, this videos title would be “Why EVERYONE Plays Yorick”.

Veigar E is strictly better as well since not only can it not be destroyed to end it early it can't just be dashed through by half the champ roster.
Yorick's W lasts a full 4 seconds, though. If your opponent can't get out of it, that's close to the longest CC duration in the game. Only Ashe's arrow can lock people down for longer than that. It can also be a massive pain in the ass even if your opponent can dash out of it; if they're fighting you, you can repeatedly move in and out of the ring so they still can't hit you. And if you're forcing your opponent to waste AAs hitting the wall instead of you, that's an absolute win.
That’s why I play only first strike lethality Yorick. I melt towers and one single E with ghouls means instant death for any target.
I'm a 2M Diamond Hardstuck Yorick main and one thing I know for sure that makes it so not many people stick to him is how many champions actually counter him..
Don't get me wrong, once mastered or with enough expirience you can fight around his weaknessess and counterpicks but some are just impossible the higher you get.
Here's a list of Champions that either Counter yorick, hard counter him or just have the advantage but otherwise its a skill matchup if you're good on him:
Tryndamere - Bully, can Spam his E ignoring your W and can easily dive you and outsustain
Irelia - Yorick's Pets can be one shot by single target abilities, so Irelia can use her Q to just stack her passive miss E and R but still win the trade, so you never have Ghouls.
Yasuo - Skill matchup but his E is slower but works the same as Irelia, he can just dance around you and not die and eventually force an all in when your without ghouls.
Jax - His counterstrike and Mobility and he's very statchecky considering his free AS and Defensive stats from his Passive and Ult.
Shen - Not only can he split and teamfight, but his W works just like jax and his early game is better than his just like most champions, since Yorick Q and Pets scale per lvl.
Kled - His E is buggy, so it one shots Ghouls, outside of that his E is fast enough to hit you before you can wall him in or out, and his Q lowers your sustain from your own Q.
Morde - Old one's W used Ghouls to heal up, now his R just removes them from play, forcing you into QSS or weird builds / playstyles to win ( I run TP Ignite to win vs him)
Hecarim - Not a hard one, but his W heals off your ghouls and R can fear them, and he can E your wall and hop out ontop of better trading, thankfully Hec top is rare.
Renekton - One of his top 3 counters (Trynd, Jax, Irelia, shen) being the other ones, He's just a bully, Mobile and heals off your pets with his Q, Bork made things worst.
Fiora - Skill matchup but she can just outduel you hard before you get to setup much, but at the highest lvl she can just all in you before you can get pets due to her mobility.
Heimerdinger - Its You, but AP and ranged with pets that auto lock on you, you can win, but its unfavorable from beginning to the end ( I run comet vs him to win mostly)
I probably forgot one of them, (Not Teemo, he's a skill matchup but his only advantage is being ranged, which counters most melees by default), but yeah these counter him.
Cho'gath mains are annoying cause their R can kil your R most of the time, but luckily most don't do it, while Camille is strong and can just dash a mile away even if she used her E to engage already, it just hard for them to derp out in higher elos, so you can't kill her due to her mobility, just stronger, but not a counter IMO.
Ontop of all of this its like you said, he's meant for splitpushing but lacks escape, meaning you can camp him or collapse on him wether he's fed or not fairly easily.
While he can always have pressure even when behind, that's all he can do if the enemy top can just team fight better than him ontop of it all.
I can be Fed ASF in some games, doesn't change much but how fast enemy will collapse on me or focus me down in a 3v3 skirmish, cause you're still melee, Immobile with no hard CC and missing E and W means you just gotta walk on them ontop of all of this he's the 1# Juggernaut IMO but he lacks one thing all the others have, Defense.
Most Juggernauts have a Shield or a Big source of sustain or just a Niche that makes them tanky, Voli has Shield and Tower diving and W sustain, Darius has his AoE Q heal, Garen has regen and free dmg reduction and stats in his W, same with Shyvanna passive, though she's outdatd, Nasus has lifesteal proccing of his Q, Morde has shield and heal, Udyr is the same deal, Trundle is mostly sustain, Mundo is sustain regen etc etc, in a teamfight they all have atleast one spell or trait that can make them durable or sustain, But Yorick has nothing, his Q is single target and is flat HP and only heals for double when he's low which is just 80-160 heal at lvl 18, because it scales off his lvl.
Meaning he's weak early dmg wise due to previous ghoul and maiden %HP Nerf, his Healing is also weak starting at 12 heal flat, comparing this to everyone else his sustain or durability is the weakest, if he doesn't build resists, all he has is his base stats, which most juggernauts have great base stats but also a defensive tool in the form of Free MR/Armor, Sustain or shield, but Yorick has neither of these, since his Q heal is 12 - 82 based off lvl, while Talons is 10 - 70 based off lvl. only difference is that his can be doubled when low, but unlike all the others, his Q Healing doesn't have a Ratio or scaling either, Darius/Illaoi's scale off their missing HP so more HP Helps, same with Udyr W and Mundo and Garen Regen etc etc, but he just doesn't have that, I tried highlighting this back in 2018 when he was weaker before he got his 2019 buff and spiked.
But Alas Poor Yorick.

I started playing yorick today and I let my maiden and 4 mist walkers loose on the bot lane and they destroyed all three turrets and were ignored until they reached the inhibitor. It was amazing. While I was aiding in objective I was simultaneously taking bot lane.
All other Juggnauts focus on being raid boss. Yorick? Yorick has things to do. Focus on being commander of legion instead.
Or talking wife and kids on very productive stroll.

Yorick's Dark Procession is the exact width of a jungle lane which means you can cut off a pathway for escape or tactics.

Been a year since this video. Idk if much has changed but the pressure this guy can give just through lane pushing has saved me a few times. Had my mid dc (he was hard carrying) and my team wanted to give up but I just casually pushed top nd bottom (inhibs included) and claimed the last drake soul and the guy came back bewildered at how far back they were pushed and how winnable it was. Also my first Pentakill was that game with him.
I mained him pre rework and he was the most fun pick as far as I remember. I think he was actually easier, more flexible and more unique back then. I don’t enjoy him that much nowadays, but After your great video I might pick him up again! thank u for your great videos! Much Love!

Yorick was my best toplaner about 3 seasons ago, I still play him from time to time and I still love him. Thought , I know riot hates him/forgot about him. You can tell by the fact that his minions despite being crucial to his playstyle, are not hidden by hemtech mist.
I've been a jhin main since his release and I pick up yorick a few months ago. I absolutely love this champ. When I first saw reworked yorick I thought has ghouls were cool, but he seemed to lack that OOMF that jhin's autos have. Thank god I chose to give him a chance a few months ago cuz damn is he fun. I actually enjoy the setup on yorick's damage cuz it feels so satisfying when I pull everything off perfectly. I think what also caught my attention was how no one picked him. It kinda made him feel like the underdog. It might feel like you should lose, but DAMN when you do good it feels amazing. Also yorick's W is busted. I got away from a 2v1 I would've lost just by walking in circles around my W.
I play Yorick fairly often. Your definition of a raid boss was surprising to me, because that was exactly how I thought of Yorick's job in the game (though with towers instead of enemy champions).

Yorick is basically my main/pocket top pick and I’d say the reason he’s rarely played is also what makes him fun:
He is very unique.
While his kit is fairly easy to use, he’s nit easy to play *effectively*.
You need great map awareness, good warding skill and a lot of resource- and cooldown management.
Moreover, teleport is basically a key part of his skillset.
If you manage to pull it off, you can easily get 8 towers per game. But you need a lot of general in game experience.

His 1v1 capability is strong like most juggernauts, and he trades mobility in the splitpush for bonkers tower-taking. However I think his 2v1 and 3v1 are weaker than most other juggernauts because he really lacks a clear "trigger" to turn fights in his favor. Darius has his 5 stack ult reset, illaoi has her multi-champ ultimate, urgot has a big fear with a successful ulti, morde has his ulti which allows him to make a 5v1 into a 1v1 and then he has the boosted stats afterward... but yorick doesn't really have a clear path to win larger fights except hitting multiple Es, good W's to pick targets off, and just... killing them lol. He's much like Nasus in that sense I think, who you briefly mentioned as having similar problems to yorick.
His teamfight is also weaker than other juggernauts due to his lack of AOE, which you mentioned, his lack of a general "big fight win condition," which I just mentioned, and also to his maiden and ghouls being quite unwieldy in a teamfight scenario - they're vulnerable to being picked off or poked out in standoffs around baron or drag for example.
In general his damage is pretty difficult to set up, since you need ghouls and it takes a while to get new ones without using maiden. This also means your early game is super weak, which probably turns people off of him. He struggles to fight anywhere that isn't a lane, so contesting rift or fights in the jungle usually mean you don't have any ghouls to assist you. Your maiden also needs to constantly be protected by running really far away to drag her to safety, which is sometimes annoying to deal with.
I will say though that yorick is vastly superior to pretty much all other juggernauts when it comes to dealing with ranged targets. His E range is actually massive because it can splash quite a bit farther past the max 700 cast range, then he has his ghoul hop and move speed increase to run people down, and his W to lock them in. His burst is pretty high as well so he can annihilate the squishy ranged targets when he catches them, with his maiden bonus damage proc + Q shovel bonk + 4 ghouls autoing a few times.

The way you described the juggernaut class sounds like so much fun!!! I wanna play a juggernaut now. But as far as Yorick goes. He's a champ i've been interested in (since the rework) but honestly i didnt' feel like rereading and trying out what it takes to get his ghouls to jump out.
I am a Yorick main and I personally like his style. He has a very similar feel to mordekaiser, their abilities are pretty similar i feel as I used to be a mordekaiser main. I grew tired of mordekaiser however as he felt to simple. Yorick feels like what mordekaiser could have been especially seeing as in one of mordekaisers stories it told of him turning his foes into soldiers for his own army.
Yorick is very much like an english farmer where he needs to work for his power. You till the soil (your Q) and sow the seeds (the bodies of your foes). Its a hard but honest living and once its harvest time? Pluck those lil vegetables from the ground, put your main dish in a bowl (using W around a foe) throw your seasoning on it (throw E on the foe), then mix your vegetables in with it (gouls or cats if you use the cat skin like me ;3) and boom! you are eating good tonight xD.

Most people I've seen that play yorick just stay out of fights and just push (which is great and all but team fights become a 4v5)
Usually a yorick's main objective is pushing if you can take down 2 towers early you practically won the game due to the towers's global gold

Been a Yorick main since the rework. Never found him weak. I actually reach mid diamond every season. I admit his early is shit. But his macro presssure and mid game teamfighting is just.....lovely

God i disagree. Not being able to bully the shit out of your lane (which you can in at least a solid 50% of the matchups) doesn't mean that he feels weak. He's in a great spot. Just because there are a couple champs who hard counter and you cant learn to farm and wait till late game doesn't mean he's weak.

U forgot somthing super important. He doesn't have to put himself in danger to split push. He can send maiden down a lane by herself and she will take every tower it forces a champion to go stop her. And best of all u can get 4 ghouls from another lane while she's doing that. So u don't lose out on all of ur minion damage.
It is true tho he doesn't have the 1v5 aoe potential that Most juggernaut. But with his slow and circle grab. He can play as a somewhat decent vanguard. Starting engagements and diving in taking the brunt of the damage for his team. This is made even better if u have a hook suppor like thresh and blitz second their grabbed u stop them from running and throw ur minions on them.
I feel his prob unpopular bc he takes a good amount of macro play. U need to be good at getting vision control so u kno when u can split with ur maiden. And if u can't then u need to keep the maiden for increase fighting potential. His weaker early game (pre 6) against a lot of match ups garen ranged Champs teemo Darius all can beat him very early so u need to play safe and be good with wave manipulation even tho his kit makes that hard to do if u summon ghouls to push. He takes a lot of thought and I imagine ppl like feeling powerful and strong and able to dominate when their playing a juggernaut. He doesn't give that same adrenaline rush as a resetting slaughtering Darius. But I feel he more makes up for it in his ability to lock down and shut down carries and utility.
8:54 “3 to 9 bonus health % dmg on each of his attack”. I would like if it was like that, especially because this is an ultimate and Viego does it instead passively thanks to his Q, but actually that effect only applies once every 2 seconds

There are a lot of games where I don't release Jessica, mostly because I don't trust my teammates to set the proper presure in the map to make the Jessica's split relevant.
As you say, Yorick depents of his team. Recently Jessica behavior get "buffed" so she doesn't overstay and suicide in towers in laning phase.
Something you forgot to say is that Yorick's kit is incredible for your jungle ganks, specialy for early junglers like Elise and Lee Sin. You lock someone and between both have 4 sec of pleasure XD.

Great Video, only criticism I have is that he doesn't out dps people like vayne or Yi, the Maiden proc has a 2 sec cd, and since he can only focus one champ at a time it's a bit of a problem when teamfighting. Other than that everything else hits the mark, well done! :)

Let's not forget that his maiden, or even the ghouls, counter what you actually want to be doing in most cases, you cannot freeze lanes, you cannot even slowpush lanes, because they autoshove everything close to them. And it's not like you can just dismiss the maiden, or have it stand outside of lane, you COULD let it die, but that's 50 gold for your enemy and a 3 minute cooldown at rank 1 in which most of your dueling strength is just kinda gone.

New Yorick is my main. Love the boy. Like that he's not popular too. Keeps them out of the constant buff/nerf pendulum that popular champs go through. Yorick just kind of gets to be in an okay state that's feels good.
That feeling when Riot reworks the champ they literally shoved under the rug hoping no one would notice he existed only to leave him by the wayside after giving him the TLC he needed.

As yorick main I've carried enough games to notice that the right build can really make the difference
When you build Yomus as 2md item and Dead man's plate with mobility boots you will be fast enough and if u have flash or use ure W correct nobody will be able to catch you after u broken down their inhib also Heralds are so important
By taking ingite 1st blood and 1st tower u have much gold to buy the items I told also once u break enemy's 1st 2 towers u can go inside jugle backdoor and spawn ure herald in front of inhibitor tower then u will take tower and inhibitor
Also with ure ult active and some lifestral you can easily solo baron
You forgot to mention his ability to recast his ult to send maiden down a lane aswell as his ability to push all 3 lanes at the same time with ghouls.

Some problems of yorik are adressed, while some others are not. I just want to add MY worst complaints with the boy
1. Minion AI: Yes, his ghouls are supposed to be "stupid" as in not directly manouverable and going for the closes enemy but minion AI in general just completely fucks them over. They can get stuck on minons if other enemy minons pass by their target, the often spasm out when a big wave forms it's imfamous caster wall, just like canons. They also can't deal with high mobility champions as they sometimes just start spinning after mobility is used due to riots spagetti code not knowing what to do in that situation.
Maiden is an even worse case as all ghould problem applie to, yet her "follow" makes everything even worse. Her succ animations last way longer than her actual damage and instead of tethering to an enemy and dealing permanent damage, she NEEDS to stand still and twizzle her hands. Meanwhile tibbers just exists near you with his aura and daisy can stick to you due to knock up and slow. She already is single target, her damage shouldn't be reliable on the enemy staying in range long enough for her animations to start/stop. Her follow distance is also very awkward. She often stays behind and eats two/three tower shots before following you who was never in tower range to begin with. Her needing to finish her animation furtherly extends the distance to yorik once more. I don't want to be able to manouver her like daisy or tibbers because that would be too strong but I would be very happy of her staying closer to yorik in general and having some sort of improved priority mechanism. She already starts attacking marked enemies or enemies that attack yorik, but she doesn't come back for quite a while. Marking enemies should extend her follow range on them but staying close to yorik should be top priority as setting her free makes less sence as it is now.
2. Actual pushing: Taking towers is pretty much the only thing yorik is known for. Yet he simply is not the best at it. Every Garen, Yone or Camille destroys towers just as quick due to their short timer true damage or insane base stats while also being better at wave clearing due to insane AOE. I think that yorik should be a niche pick, yet best at what he does, similar to Ziggs with his tower execute. Clonking a tower should aleast add to his graves so he can consistently respawn ghouls under the tower. Also maiden comes in once again here. She is his best tool to push as her increased damage make up a little for having no AOE to push, yet she is the worst tool to actually do anything with a push when ur enemy laner is present. Besides of seemingly always placing herself in tower range to attack minions, she makes it impossible for yorik to push tower while she is out. As soon as you walk to an enemy cought under a tower, maiden will tether to him for a split second before he walks back with nearly no damage taken and you are stuck with turret aggro. Garen can run in, wait for demolition, justice a tower and walk out again without you being able to really touch him in a significant way, yet yorik the tower destroyer is prevented from doing so by his main tower pushing ability. As long as minions are in her range, maiden should automatically position herself out of tower range and enemies should only be attack under tower if they are marked or already chased into range, i.e, in a fight already. Right now you can prevent a yorik from pushing just by being there as they can just abuse maidens range and AI to let u have permanent turret aggro.
3. Lackluster heal: Don't get me wrong, yorik has very good healing capabilities with conquerer and shover but it sadly is just too relient on the shovels cooldown ad, once again, no AOE damage makes conquerer way worse than it is on other champs. The healing on the shovel must either stack its heal similar to hecarims increased damage on Q or just increased in general. He can't run away, just as a Darius, yet he heals a fraction and can't execute.
4. Maiden: As said before; Maiden has bad AI, gets stuck and has to many forced animations while also actively hindering Yorick in doing what he is supposed to. But maiden has one more problem; and that is an identity problem. While stuck to Yorick, maiden doesn't feel like a good ally as she his hard to control and positions very badly on her own while not really hard following Yorick either, always having some distance betwenn them, making it even less intuitive to position her in a way. But her released form is somehow even worse. While it is nice to get farm while not on a lane, neither her pushing, nor her fighting power make up for the insane cooldown. A maiden, if left alone, will take several minutes to push to a tower and then deals miniscule damage to it, granted she won't start attcking minions just in tower range, leaving her dead before she hit it a single time. Every team with half a brain can send someone to the lane in that time and kite her akward range, killing her quite quickly, without her recovering or even staying focused on the enemy. The only "good" way to set maiden free is when inhib tower is down so she can push the inhib. but then we have the same problems again: You are either close enough to attack the inhib with her anyway, making the push more effective OR you have to set her free in a distance where she has to push atleast two waves on her own wich is more than enough time for the enemy to respond. In my opinion, Maiden is the best and worse pet in the game at the same time just because of her potential but then her frustating stupidity.

yorick split push doesnt run away like trynd, yorick split push says "come at me bro" and wins the 1v3. at least thats how it goes for me, yoricks damage with maiden+4minions + especially a minion wave is easily capable of winning 1v2s and usually 1v3s even when a little behind (obviously if you 0/6 this wont work) especcially once you built hull breaker. no one respects his damage till he puts them in a circle and smacks em with a hammer till they die. i once won a 1v4 in their base, won the 1v4 took out both towers and the nexus for game.
Reminds me Tahm Kench : super good on 1v1, but not good enough in team fights.

@@holczy0 idk haven't played since the buff. That's what I heard and it makes me smile cause now a lot of top laners are crying after years of Yorick being just "Okay" and some champs being broken (yes hello Viego, Irelia, Yone)
I will say that with the introduction of items like helmbreaker and divine sunderer yorick fits and executes the raid boss almost perfectly. Then again this is roughly a year after this video was released so patches might've changed some things here and there

The best part about yorick is being able to leave lane and let the lady do all the work till you get back
Uncle Yorick is one of the greatest champion not only for split pushing & 1v2 but he is great to take objectives like turrets, dragons, baron or enemies jungle camps so easily that Yorick's kinda creates a second team with his ghouls & his mistmaiden & if you time it good, you can send your undead team further to the lane when you can go back with your maiden to heal her in base, thats why when Yorick has his ult he doesnt need his team for dragon or even baron for he can easily do it solo in a speed to let the people remind that objectives still exist.
In teamfights he isnt great at starting the fight but he got the power to finish it, kinda like a warden does, also because Yorick's ghouls can jump marked enemies he can be very strong against range top laners when you got the ghouls to do so especialy with Conqueror rune.
You forgot the fact that recasting his ult releases the maiden down the closest lane to spit push while you help out the team while the maiden continues to push while at the same time getting you not only gold but XP as well. Yorick is the Best split pusher ever if you know how to use him right.
I would say the lack of control over the maiden is another problem. You cannot pke with your e if you have maiden up because the maiden will spend at least 5 seconds going after the enemy and they will destroy her, and she cant regenerate health. Also when pushing the tower prioritizes her, and when trying to leave she stays a little too long and can often take a shot or two more than necessary. Ithink if there can be better control of her that will lead to a lot of people to pick him up.
Playing Yorick in low ELO makes me realize that if you have an idiot jungle who doesn't use your split push to take objectives you're screwed because either the whole enemy team is going to try to kill you or you're leaving your team with one less person to help in teamfights
The nice thing about yorick is that hes surprisingly flexible
He can split without being in a lane with his ghouls and maiden
He can peel his team with his w and his very presence is a death sentence to anyone who gets close
He can deal better with ranged match ups compared to other juggernauts if he goes with glacial and rushes stridebreaker. Tho im not sure how much this stays true with the removal of that god forsaken dash

something you forgot: yorick can actually release his maiden, and at ranks 2 and 3 he can actually push 2 lanes at once. however the time and effort players would need to put in, or have the prior macro knowledge to figure out how and when to do this is another reason more of his power seems unaccessable to a lot of players.
another thing is that near the end of the video you said something about a split push meta, but i'm pretty sure split pushing is still strong. its just very different and arguably harder to do on yorick (i.e instead of pushing, seeing enemies come, and escaping using mobility skills or wasting time, while yorick can split with maiden, multiple batches of ghouls, or have solid enough macro to confidently commit to pushes).
splitpush is still viable. wouldnt be near saying its strong. but youre right. splitpushing with yorick is alot less viable than any other champions. atleast with nasus you have infinite q scaling. while yorick has a giant ball of hp which enemys can reliably kill.

yorick can be a tank your team needs and he often has a negative k/d but takes towers to make up for it. I have had multiple games with yorick where all the enemies went mid to push while they were fed, burned my allies, and then I took there tower, inhib, two near towers, and nexus (ok one of the times I only took the stuff after inhib but still). you can't ignore yorick no matter what and that's why he is so good
With his cor pots, he’s really good early game. Which helps a lot because with his kit he’s very item dependent.

the fact that ghouls no matter hwo fed he is are one shot by anything single target by champions makes it dangerous to fight characters that can instantly remove ghouls
they are 2 shot by anything that is not counted an auto attack

You can easily trade against range champions in the top lane if you use approach velocity and use your E a lot and close the gap and Q spam
i used to main yorick because i love split pushing, winning 1v1s super hard and demolishing towers in seconds however i also found a love for infinite scaling on veigar, so when i learned there was a champ that was both a split pushing nightmare a 1v1 king late game, and a tower destroyer who also scaled? i dropped yorick and ran into susan's open loving arms
I play dota 2 and play a lot of nature's prophet. And one of my favorite things to do is to push multiple lanes at once. When I tried league I liked yorick very much for that reason alone. I also like the fact that you can ignore the skills of your enemies and if they have more kills than your team since all those things don't matter if you win in the end anyway.

Dude honestly yorick is my old reliable. Back when I started to play league like a couple months after his rework I was having trouble finding a champ I like and yorick just got that slot. For me he has that tanky side I can just go in and slap someone while still being able to deal some dmg. I like the idea that I’m not exactly the dmg but I have things helping me do it even if maiden can be wonky and I wished she didn’t like to tower dive as much.
I'm a yorick and malzahar main. I love the idea of summoning minion to fight with me. To this day my most played Champs are yorick malzahar and heimerdnger!
