I'm a long time Ryze enthusiast, I have a bunch of games on him. It's sad to see his current state... because not only does he sorta suck, but the EQ spam is nowhere near as fun to play as the previous version of the previous version of the previous version of this rework after he got reworked. (Ya know, the one with the shield) Nice video!
So, I just tried Ryze jungle (silver elo norms FYI) and I actually did pretty well his clear is reasonable and the ganks with is ult and root are pretty solid. Maybe we're just playing him in the wrong role? I've tried him a good bit in mid or top and even if I get 1000+ ap all that damage doesn't compete late game really. Perhaps map control via the jungle is his current calling
Man I love playing Ryze against a full AP team so I can't even have an excuse to build Frozen Heart, my favourite. There needs to be more mana items again, and not fucking mana regen items.
"To keep up with the pace of a faster game, we should make slow champs faster" Sounds like a downward spiral of faster game -> faster champs -> even faster game. Down that path is a game that ends 90% of its matches with ff15 Why can't we make the game a little less like a coin flip and have the matches not decided by 10 minutes
Sadly that's the reality of all games. Power creep, feature creep, speed creep, etc. Blue eyes white dragon isn't strong anymore? Gotta make newer blue eyes cards that are better! The more new content that is released, the less old content matters and needs to be updated.
@@VarsVerum Play Dota2 The game is very Push-centric due to the large map size and teleport as a consumable item Unless you manage to open a fight in an advantageous position or preemptively prepare the wave losing a fight will not result instantly losing the game Because the game is strategically hard and items play a larger role individual kits are very straightforward but hard to optimize
@@VarsVerum Good ol' Chaos Max Dragon Because it needed to essentially be the anime version of Obelisk and also do _double_ damage to defense position monsters, and for what cost? And 8 level monster, which for a Blue-Eyes deck, you're in no short supply of. Thanks Konami!
@@sashapaleologue1234 Probably I guess, I don't follow the meta either, though its effect seems a bit ridiculous, it's 4000 attack with 0 defense, but you do double piercing damage and it cannot be targeted by or destroyed by opponent card effects, which basically means you have to destroy it by battle and typically it would require a monster with 4000 attack points or more since you can't target it with effects to nerf it specifically. Given I don't know a whole lot of the cards though I guess I'm just missing something, maybe there's a non-targeted card effect that happens to lower attack points or maybe there's a non-targeted card effect that simply returns cards to the hand/deck that I'm unaware of (first thing that came to mind was Giant Trunade, but that card only did it for spells and traps, it did it for both sides of the field, _and_ it's a banned card in all regions lmao) Either way it still kinda shows some feature creep, the god cards are all kinda trash overall by comparison to newer cards released given that when the god cards were given official effects they were dramatically nerfed from what they could do in the anime, and by comparing Chaos MAX Dragon to Obelisk, it seems odd that between these two 4000 attack point monsters, Chaos MAX is dramatically easier to summon and use effectively _and_ has a better defensive effect against card effects, Obelisk's summoning can't be negated I suppose but it's still 3 tributes which is super rough, and it simply can't be _targeted_ by card effects, but any non-targeted effects can be used to nerf or shut down Obelisk (like Dark Hole, I understand that it would get rid of your monsters too, but it wouldn't touch Chaos MAX at all) Idk maybe I'm just butthurt that the official god cards are really garbage lol. (Why doesn't Ra gain the attack points of the tributed monsters???)
it's not satisfying mostly if you don't know how to use it Most obvious is as a discount TF ult to either engage or escape, but people behave too conservative when it comes to its use because they have this misconception that it exists only to set up big plays, maybe because it has a big cooldown However, if you can read the game well, you can use it to catch lane XP, cut off escape routes, backdoor, sneak objectives, deny enemy waves, set up freezes, even clown a bit by diving foutain with supers. I love that Ryze has such a useful tool that doesn;t gate his damage and dueling. Other champs I main like Vlad and Ori are usually walking turds without their ults even on 2-3 items, but 2-3 cores Ryze can destroy teamfights and then just use R to bm.
@@JohnYannoulas why I don’t think ori is nothing without ult, I agree many people keep complaining about his ult, even though it’s the thing that makes his base kit deal so much damage.
His range is certainly the main weakness accompanied by the early game weakness. Imagine being a glass cannon mage but getting outranged by most ADCs before you can even burst them. Not to mention he loses lane so hard to most gap closer matchups, eg. Zed, Irelia, Yasuo, Yone, Talon, Wukong etc
I’ve actually recently found a new champ I adore in ryze. Like all champs this season he does a lot of dmg and his waveclear is so good. It’s also a great feeling to either get the root and the EQ and just delete some poor zed or get a kill with EQ when your opponent is trying to run away. And oh boi if you do manage to get your team somewhere with your ult you feel like the ultimate Chad.
In last season i was main Shen. In this i am main of Ryze. And i have a lot of fun with. Both champs are easy to play, but hard to master. People complain about not enough mana because spam abilities in stupid way. Ryze lost against gap closer? So play safe near turret, farm and look for oportunities on another lanes. When i start play Ryze i have 40% win rate. Now i have 60-70% because i know him better. And I watch Strompest - best Ryze in NA.
I remember getting into league was when the current ryze just got reworked in or was relatively new and i remember watching the "real champion spotlight" by magikarpusedfly and i thought he was one of the coolest designs out there. Like a mahine gun mage with a bunch of combos to out play almost any situation but now he's been nerfed to the point where being creative just hinders u. Ur ideal trading pattern is e w q e q with autos in between and thats basically it. Phase rush has made him better but he's still pretty 1 dimensional for a champ that was the outplay god a while back. There's also the issue with itemization that kassadin faced but i feel it hurts ryze a lot more. Before u just got ur 2 item power spike of seraphs and rod of ages and that was basically all the damage u needed. U could go full tank and still out put a crap load of damage while also having the seraphs shield which was basically a second health bar if u got low but now the tankiest u get is like everfrost and cosmic drive but those dont give u nearly enough damage or hp compared to the old build. With kassadin he kinda overcame it since he was basically an ap assassin anyways now he just was a bit squishier. But ryze doesnt have the "ungankable post 6" nature that kass has especially once they removed the ability to stop watch while channeling ur ult so he feels like a squishy immobile blue man.
Yeah I would go for RoA+Seraphs into either full tank with maybe a single slightly more beefy mage item like Liandries, Morello, Rylais etc. It took a while to come online, but the powerspike was clear and defined, plus the 1 shot playstyle he currently has is a lot more toxic for the game, but thats an overall trend and not specific to Ryze.
At this point, they just need to make games longer, because to see hypercarries, a long running form of sub class, need to get completely phased out is simply too frustrating
One of my big gripes when playing him is how unforgiving the chaining on his E is... I can hit the incoming minion trios from the front and often only 2/3 would get the E bounce. Another annoying thing is how when ulting the camera locks on him and travels to his destination slowly, even if I already had my view on where he'd pop out.
@@keyman245 Repositioning between each one, using passive in between, utilizing W pull to guarantee a hit repositioning with E. Yes i find it very fun.
I'll be honest, I kinda wanted to play lol because I really like how ryze looks and his turkish voice actor really sells me that "old, wise and cranky mage" vibe
7:06 is that why vlad scales with ap and health, while having infinity sustain due to 0 mana cost and a point and click heal, and also having an invulnerability spell and with electrocute, can practically one shot someone with a flash chargedQ E auto. I see riot is very consistent here. At level 3 that is.
The reason the others got a scaling buff but Ryze didn't is simple: he doesn't sell very many skins. Why should he be relevant in the game when he's not relevant in Riot's wallet.
I meannn, he would’ve been a god tier battle academia skin with the right design tbh but I do find him boring to play. With the right skin line I think he would sell good seeing as he’s a humanoid mage they can over sexualize him like the rest of the champs
@@voyces22 Yeah, I would've liked to see a Ryze skin for BA. I don't think that Yone or Caitlyn need another skin, but those champs make so much money for Rito Games
Because all his skins are unavailable 😂 he has like 3 skins that you can buy anytime. And they are shit. That’s why they don’t sell. Ryze is the face of faker. He’s popular. He’s just ass and has shit skins and all the other skins you can’t buy. so that’s why he doesn’t sell.
Would love to see a video on Braum at some point. He was my main when he released and for a few good seasons until my friends stopped playing league so I didn't have any duo to play with bot.
Video was excellent minus two points, him doing ''okay'' into Lucian mid; nope he gets absolutely ass blasted and cannot deal with the amount of pressure Lucian provides as he outtrades him every single time due to their ranges being comparable yet the damage being as far away as heaven & hell early. The second garbage point is Ryze being easy to gank; you did mention how he can escape with phase rush but how he's fucked without it. Sure he is fucked without phase rush and his root, but that's really unrealistic as he in 90% of cases has it, and if he doesn't he's just as vulnerable as any other champion not less so. Hell his base MS makes it a bit easier and he can always E twice before Qing to get MS to escape even without those two tools (even though this combo has been largely forgotten about due to it being drastically nerfed as it has no shield, it still has it's place even if it's rare) Everything else is spot on though. wp
It might just be my own personal experience against lucian top but I usually do decently well after picking up a seekers, which is super cheap since season 11.
i think ryze needs more range to survive agaist league of dashes. and do something about choosing between 3 q's or a root that is not the way ryze should think
Mid lane is one of my favorite roles, but I don't play it much now because so many of my favorite champs are all ones that would be featured in videos like this and just have problems that Riot doesn't often address.
It takes Ryze 0.5s to get a root on a champion once they're within 550 units, and an additional ~0.25s to proc phase rush. Factor in lag and the average human reaction time and that's about a 1s long root that Ryze has to put himself through in order to get a 1.5s root (before tenacity) on an opponent. Additionally, roots do not interrupt movement abilities and do not stop the effected champion from using their own abilities or autoing like a stun would, so if a movement ability is sufficient to get a champion close enough to full combo then ryze has effectively burned 80-120 mana to deal from 1 AA to 1 unempowered Q's worth of damage. Meanwhile, the [insert burst opponent here] has cycled through x number of damage oriented spells and AA's against a low-resistances low-HP target. I'm not saying there isn't skill expression that can lessen the hell that is dealing with this trading pattern, but that being his default interaction puts him in an extremely un-fun position when (as you said) you can't reliably count on your teammates to be there every 13 seconds (the cooldown on his root btw). Basically, gib shield pls.
For me old Ryze (the one that has locked on 1st ability and having aoe buff for his ult) was pretty okay due to the fact that you have to take a risk to getting close to do damage. Which force you to buy some tank items instead of going all ap and get wreck the moment you enter the fight was fair enough. Also back then he used lightning Which makes him my favorite Champ for a long time. I stop playing league since he got reworks😂
Always thought good way to make him work would be keep the Q the same, make the W a instant stun (maybe 1 second), and make his E a shield with a movement interrupt mechanic like Poppy’s or an ability that allows him to instantly recast his Q or W. The idea behind him having two defensive spells is to make up for his shorter range. Then change spell flux to his ULT which allows either his next q or w to have an AOE effect. Or make spell flux his E, ditch the shield idea, and then make his ULT be a large AOE damage blast.
I got to play ryze before the latest rework and honestly he was hard to play so i get why they reworked him. Hes kinda my pocket pick now since ive gotten so use to old ryze kinda wish they give him some love though
I would do a simple change to Ryze Passive: AP is converted to Mana instead Skills: Scale solely on Mana Ultimate: Passively grant 5/10/15 Ability Haste This way it would be easier to finetune due to single stat scaling and they could buff base damage by reducing the scaling turning him into a bit of a lane bully spamming punishing spells thanks to a high max mana, instead of hyperscaler
I remember Beta Ryze, whos playstyle was literally "When Ult is up, (WHich was hon bouncing Ball at that point) find any champion alone, no matter if squishy or anti-mage tank, cage champion, use Ult, +1 Kill, hide until Ult is up again"
As a Ryze main, I like the champion a lot. Yeah, you dont have the strongest early game, but with tp, Biscuits and Time Warp, you can pretty much just bypass lvl1 to 6. Instead of having healing or shields, you can stay back and control the wave to stay as a freeze or to simply push them in. 90% of this video talks about the early game, and I don't struggle there. Ryze is pretty much a Twisted fate, but with more dps.
The removal of his shield and making Tear items mutually exclusive is what did it for me. Unless you are in a 0-ping LAN enviornment, it's impossible to get good damage with Ryze or use the boosted movespeed in place of the shield. Being able to get both Manamune and Seraphs gave him huge late game power since his spells all counted as single-target and scaled with the double mana items, but now he lost around half that damage. Another issue was moving Flux's Q boost to ult. Where before in solo queue you could forego putting ranks in his ult to minmax Q and E, now you need to rank up his ult that is unusable without an organized pro team only to get slower damage scaling than the previous versions.
(remove mana dmg from abilities(1000 mana only give 30 dmg)) there aren't enough AP & mana item (items at all) 2 items that could be added Rod of Eternal Valor 60 ap, 300 hp, 300 mana, unique passive-Eternity: Restore mana equal to 15% of damage taken from champions. Ryze is still weaker than in any other season, HOWEVER, he's not at his lowest point. His lowest point was preseason 11 up until the Everfrost buffs recently. Now that Everfrost isn't a meme item anymore, and more tailored to what Ryze wants, he is actually playable again and feels a bit closer to the battlemage of previous years.
Feels a bit closer. But I remember where seraph's gave u a bigggggg shield so u can actually do the "battle" in the role of battle mage. Need to give him a little buff
Maybe give him a little bit of extra range in his abilities might be a good buff to his overall playstile. And maybe nerf a bit his scaling, so that he doesn't become a mid to late monster
reason why i never play him except maybe against a vladimir is because of exactly what u said in this video, every other mid either beats you in your range or have longer range than you so you can never even touch them getting constantly pushed in without counterplay and giving up all pressure only to not being able to scale cos the game would be over already.
I must return to my Ryze ways. I love the ult, punished the enemy team by crushing all of their midlane structures (sometimes including the nexus) for losing the clash. Very hyped to do this again. Tier 3 champ versus league of dashes. edit: or oneshots.
I think Gnar would be a good “why no one plays” because even though he has been seen in pro play a lot, he doesn’t really get played that much in Soloq from what I remember. Hell, he barely got picked in norms when he was in free rotation.
Well right now he's an S-A Tier top pick, and it's caused a boom in his playerbase. But give it a few patches; Riot will gut him and make him practically unplayable.
Because he was broken as hell. Azir is one of my mains before anyone comes at me. He was able to bully you from lvl 2 and outscales you in almost any case.
@@tomwanders6022 azir and broken? Lmao, alright. So now he has nothing early, nothing midgame and POTENTIALLY something late game. Legit balance, what can i say. Meanwhile zed, darius, riven, and the lot are never touched despite being actually broken and actually viable all parts of the game.
@@radi534 Buddy if piloted right azir is gigabroken. He has a safe laning first waveclear scaling insane damage mobility a shield a knock back and a quite high range. @@tomwanders6022 brother, first of all piloting azir right is Hard as fuck, compared to other champions. One mistake can cost you the game. Hjs laning isnt that safe, his mana is shite, shield is almost nonexistant, his knockback can be easilly manouvered around, his damage is so miniscule until he gets 2 items, if he even manages to get there. And even then its shit. Darius has insane lv 1,early game trading, tanky as fuck and insane damage output at the same time. Lets not forget the execute. Riven has insane mobility, loads of cc on basic abilities, a solid shield, ranged attack AND no mana and low cds. Zed has absolutely insane damage output and a single seekers will do next to nothing. Ive tried getting tabis AND armguard and it did jack shit. He also has a free flash and safe engages/disengages, an insane ult and an easilly renewable resource. And this is Just when azir js played by 10 random People in the entire world, while the other champs are picked almost every game and most often than not dominate. And they are not the only ones, Just the ones that first pop in mind. You can't justify azirs nerf. Not until the actual broken ass champs are nerfed. If following the same logic - why not nerf gp and start buffing yasuo, yone, vayne, jhin, garen, camille, kayn, and so on.
his range in laning phase isn't that bad if he pokes by using EQ on minions, but imo it's late game that ryze falls off the hardest simply because he needs a good engage from his tank/support that hits everyone and that the champions hit are grouped all in E spread range. tho his biggest strenght over other mages is probably his consistant point and click stun that is not an ultimate like malzahar and the fact that people WILL go in your R so you can force them to int.
as a ryze main, i play him top and usually win lane every single time, i once also made the enemy nami get a quadra kill by ulting my team into the enemy fountain. late game i have like 700 ap 3k health 70 ability haste 200 armor and 5k mana, balanced
@@meanurchin5708 during S10 Viktor was only ever used in competitive at not at a relevant ratio, in S11 his passive was reworked so now he doesn't need to buy his upgrades and would just obtain them through farming (resulting into Viktor getting his upgrades faster if he farms properly or manages to snag assist/kills early on). Considering the PHC used to give relevant stats only when Viktor would hit lvl 10 or higher (the PHC gave +10 mana and +10 AP per level), costed 3k gold as a whole and was basically your mandatory first item with no unique effects, Viktor had to wait for way too long to get to his powerspike. He's never been downright irrelevant tho, Viktor is a solid staple among control Mages. Worst it can be, Viktor is unpopular and unappealing to the kids because he's not an edgy fuck with 84 dashes.
Wow, he's only had 87 re works?! Long time Ryze player/content creator with 1.4M Mastery points. Didn't play much of last season until around September, and started to get my mechanics back with Ryze. The changes to the items from S10-11 was the biggest difference for me. Taking away the item that scales Ryze to become that 1v9 monster after 25-30 minutes (ROA) and also removing the active shield on Seraphs really took it's tole on our Blue Boy. Every time I think i'll try a different champion, I just find Ryze really satisfying to play, and the "idea" of his abilities and close range mage burst isn't really like any other. This video was really good 😁 I hope they bring back at least some sustain to him, and a small increase to damage early game, oh and maybe an ultimate rework 🤣👌
I have over a 100 games on him (Played top & mid equally) this season and am still hovering between 52-55% WR on an average. Not to mention that every game I have to give my best and try harder than my lane opponents. Pick any champ in the game and play over 100 games and you will have a better win rate than this for sure. Ryze definitely needs some love from RIOT but without a major rework.
They just need to compensate his scaling now that mana is much more scarce this season. I like that mana is a bit harder to obtain and you don't have to worry about your mana bar after the 15 minute mark. But the lack of mana items killed ryze
Ryze at this moment can reach 1600 damage off an empowered Q full build late game. That's... pretty luxurious tbh, and as the Ryze onetrick I am, I feel like as you get better at the champ, you get punished for it while you fast combo, since you get stuck on the spot and lose out on some of your damage, and that's awful, while other champions can kite or wave their damage without a loss on doing so. With that said, I think they could make their abilities' cast time scale with Ability Haste in exchange of his excessive luxurious damage late game.
i really dont understand why people say ryze is weak like i know he has low winrate but i dont know why, he has like 3 hard counters mid (zed yasuo irelia), his early game is decent, he has amazing waveclear good utility, reliable cc, and uses mage items. whenever i play ryze i feel like i chunk people so hard for no reason, i pressed eq and they lost 250 hp while having 50ap
Not a fix but, would he be viable as an « adc » (played botlane with a support) when in a heavy ad team ? Since adc usually suffer from the same « need 3 items to do anything » syndrome.
I used to main ryze in season 10. Last season ryze was in really good spot, he had good 2 itmes powerspike. Archangel's still in the game, ans rod of ages, got removed. Archalangels staff stil in game but the active, shield is gone, this hurt his surviveability so bad and rod og ages was the perfect item for ryze. His main problem is that he need to get close to enemy while he not tanky at all and it hurt hom so bad. He still have alot of dmage tho.
@@dylantt5878 DS! :D I actually didn't like Subterra all too much. Too desert for me, even though that's exactly what Subterra is. Aquos arena was pretty clean though! Haos was... creepy?
As a Ryze OTP I feel like ryze is kinda ok atm and I don't think that they should nerf his late game because that's where he shines. His early game is really bad but he scales so much that he can 1v9 games as soon as he gets full build. Good video tho I agree with almost everything that was stated except for the part we're u said they should sacrifice a bit of his late game for a better early game experience.
I kinda like his spot right now especially with everfrost. It makes up for his instant root he used to have in exchange for you being able to get all your damage off without any misses. I definitely agree with changing him up by increasing his early game power and decreasing his late game power. Being able to 1600 damage EQ someone isn’t useful as you are a machine gun mage your ability will be up again in 1.21 seconds. He misses out on a lot of survivability especially early on. A zac E or Lux q will get you one shot instantly. The work around for that is usually not get too close but with such little range you really can’t do anything. They either need to increase the range of his spells to 600 - 625 ish or bring back his shield/seraph shield so he has a little bit of defense. No glass canon mage will live longer than 2 seconds if they have no built in peel that’s common sense. His damage is fine but he just can’t get enough off without dying. He scales exceptionally well as you pointed out he double scales. He just is too weak early to be impactful. Buff either his utility, R or W, or give him self peel, shield or longer W range/root duration.
Having non combat ults for dmg champs is bad design if you ask me, because it gives them constant power instead of having to deal with a specific ult. Taliyah just q's over and over and over and it's not fun to play against.
This is obviously one opinion out of however many people there are here who think Ryze needs a change, but I think he's fine. At least, for me he's fine. I've gotten used to how he plays and who to root if I'm ever ganked early game. His damage is fine to me, and while yes a shield would be nice, I like doing a lot of damage. Also most of the games that I play drag onto more than 35 minutes anyways, at least in most norms games. I played him 1 time in ranked and even then he felt fine. I went 4/5/3 against an Ahri mid lane. Sure, I only used his ult as a roaming tool and not to transport my teammates elsewhere (cause fuck my teammates in soloque, I need to dominate), but that's the way I use his ultimate which is much different than what it should be used for.
I play him whenever i need to carry in a 5 man premade. Otherwise it just feels to broken. I don't play him more, because he feels like an adc with extra effort.
i think his kit could be extended significantly, not just by increasing his stats or scaling, but giving his abilities some flavor. Make his buttons matter individually and make different combos do different things so he has outplay potential when he's weak. It could even be a diminishing scaling on his abilities where he is not doing much damage early-on, but has impactful passives/actives/combos such as cc, damage prevention, shields, some sort of a short dash in or out all depending on the combos you used. And scaling on those could diminish with AP/Mapa, while his damage rises, so he's not useless early-on and is not overpowered late game, plus it opens up him being a support character, just like Oriana can be a support, despite her being a burst mage. With the current state of power creep that'd be an insane rework for him, fitting the game perfectly, since it allows for more broad way of playing, rather than just waiting to scale up, which is 2 dimentional and is out of date design.

Sadly that's the reality of all games. Power creep, feature creep, speed creep, etc. Blue eyes white dragon isn't strong anymore? Gotta make newer blue eyes cards that are better! The more new content that is released, the less old content matters and needs to be updated.
@@VarsVerum Play Dota2
The game is very Push-centric due to the large map size and teleport as a consumable item
Unless you manage to open a fight in an advantageous position or preemptively prepare the wave losing a fight will not result instantly losing the game
Because the game is strategically hard and items play a larger role individual kits are very straightforward but hard to optimize
@@VarsVerum Good ol' Chaos Max Dragon
Because it needed to essentially be the anime version of Obelisk and also do _double_ damage to defense position monsters, and for what cost?
And 8 level monster, which for a Blue-Eyes deck, you're in no short supply of. Thanks Konami!
@@zyad48 that’s actually a very bad ritual monster iirc. The current state of yugioh is ridiculous. I stopped understanding it after the xyz era
Given I don't know a whole lot of the cards though I guess I'm just missing something, maybe there's a non-targeted card effect that happens to lower attack points or maybe there's a non-targeted card effect that simply returns cards to the hand/deck that I'm unaware of (first thing that came to mind was Giant Trunade, but that card only did it for spells and traps, it did it for both sides of the field, _and_ it's a banned card in all regions lmao)
Either way it still kinda shows some feature creep, the god cards are all kinda trash overall by comparison to newer cards released given that when the god cards were given official effects they were dramatically nerfed from what they could do in the anime, and by comparing Chaos MAX Dragon to Obelisk, it seems odd that between these two 4000 attack point monsters, Chaos MAX is dramatically easier to summon and use effectively _and_ has a better defensive effect against card effects, Obelisk's summoning can't be negated I suppose but it's still 3 tributes which is super rough, and it simply can't be _targeted_ by card effects, but any non-targeted effects can be used to nerf or shut down Obelisk (like Dark Hole, I understand that it would get rid of your monsters too, but it wouldn't touch Chaos MAX at all)
Idk maybe I'm just butthurt that the official god cards are really garbage lol. (Why doesn't Ra gain the attack points of the tributed monsters???)
Reason why nobody plays Ryze: They have to learn a new champion every other week
Ouch. This hits hard. Even before premiering
Cuz he has low range and a non satisfying ultimate
How did you watch the video already O_O
@@VarsVerum hehe cuz i know why people dont like certain champions thanks to your videos!
it's not satisfying mostly if you don't know how to use it
Most obvious is as a discount TF ult to either engage or escape, but people behave too conservative when it comes to its use because they have this misconception that it exists only to set up big plays, maybe because it has a big cooldown
However, if you can read the game well, you can use it to catch lane XP, cut off escape routes, backdoor, sneak objectives, deny enemy waves, set up freezes, even clown a bit by diving foutain with supers.
Losing the shield mang, real blue boi fan grieves the shield til this very day
I remember getting into league was when the current ryze just got reworked in or was relatively new and i remember watching the "real champion spotlight" by magikarpusedfly and i thought he was one of the coolest designs out there.
I feel like the irony of A'Sol having bad spacing just makes me laugh harder than it should.
Love this series so much, it makes me want to play all of these champs
That's the goal behind them! :3
I look forward to the rework of this video when ryze gets reworked in the following month.
Oh boy XD
He got nerfed even harder lmao
so in a nutshell...
*ryze needs another rework*

*Revert.
Ryze players: "its so boring using EQ all the time!"
Karthus players: "QQ"
Singed players: "hold my Q"

I couldn't agree more. This video is like all of my thoughts about Ryze collected together.
Congrats on the sponsor brother, you deserve it
7:06 is that why vlad scales with ap and health, while having infinity sustain due to 0 mana cost and a point and click heal, and also having an invulnerability spell and with electrocute, can practically one shot someone with a flash chargedQ E auto. I see riot is very consistent here. At level 3 that is.
Anivia-too slow, ASol-struggle with spacing, Azir-uhm...he is OP

Pool party ryze plz ☺😍
Because all his skins are unavailable 😂 he has like 3 skins that you can buy anytime. And they are shit. That’s why they don’t sell. Ryze is the face of faker. He’s popular. He’s just ass and has shit skins and all the other skins you can’t buy. so that’s why he doesn’t sell.
Would love to see a video on Braum at some point. He was my main when he released and for a few good seasons until my friends stopped playing league so I didn't have any duo to play with bot.
Sounds like surviving with Kayle but with less payoff.
Hell his base MS makes it a bit easier and he can always E twice before Qing to get MS to escape even without those two tools (even though this combo has been largely forgotten about due to it being drastically nerfed as it has no shield, it still has it's place even if it's rare)
Everything else is spot on though. wp
It might just be my own personal experience against lucian top but I usually do decently well after picking up a seekers, which is super cheap since season 11.
i think ryze needs more range to survive agaist league of dashes. and do something about choosing between 3 q's or a root that is not the way ryze should think
If we decrease ryzes spell cast time it would be much better. Rn ryze has to stop to even root them.
I've been away for years and I'm sad that Ryze feels so different now.
First sponsored video ... He is walking the path of the big people out there lads future is ure do be high quality.
Mid lane is one of my favorite roles, but I don't play it much now because so many of my favorite champs are all ones that would be featured in videos like this and just have problems that Riot doesn't often address.
Love your content man. Keep up the good work and try not to overwork yourself. Hope everything is well with you.
Everybody gangster till the 3 & 10 Ryze half hits you with 1 EQ combo
The Hu Tao appreciation in the sponsor section warmed my heart
Keep these up, I like these alot! Just don't burn yourself out ^.^
I feel like they need to rework his passive. It’s mainly the only reason why his numbers have to be kept so low.
Me who only plays with bots intro: wHat aRe yOu taLkiNg aBouT????
Hes kinda my pocket pick now since ive gotten so use to old ryze kinda wish they give him some love though
make his ult a bigass shield and move-speed boost (both based on max mana) that drains his mana exponentially
I like that
Ryze: League of Legends hard mode
I feel like that AoE teleport really belongs on a support, not a battlemage.
Finally a video that u dont need to apologize for
Congrats on getting sponsored!
I would do a simple change to Ryze
Passive: AP is converted to Mana instead
Skills: Scale solely on Mana
Ultimate: Passively grant 5/10/15 Ability Haste
This way it would be easier to finetune due to single stat scaling and they could buff base damage by reducing the scaling turning him into a bit of a lane bully spamming punishing spells thanks to a high max mana, instead of hyperscaler
We don't want to play twisted fate. We want to play ryze.
Congrats on the sponsorship
(remove mana dmg from abilities(1000 mana only give 30 dmg)) there aren't enough AP & mana item (items at all) 2 items that could be added
Rod of Eternal Valor 60 ap, 300 hp, 300 mana, unique passive-Eternity: Restore mana equal to 15% of damage taken from champions. Restore health equal to 20% of mana spent, Unique passive-Valor's Reward: Upon leveling up, restores 150 health and 200 mana over 8 seconds.
Rod of Ages 60 ap, 300 hp, 300 mana, unique passive-Eons: This item gains 2+lv hp, (2+lv)/2 mana and (2+lv)/5 ability power every minute.

Damn, I think this one might be worth a disclaimer. Never played him, but I can say he is pretty popular. Classical mage I even would say.
Lol..... I'm new to the channel...and the first thing I see is why no plays my main Ryze

I tried him with Riftmaker as my mythic just to have some sustain. Felt decent.
the real reasons cuz he gets reworked every month
Ryze was my first champion and I still play him. He's just a fun angry blue man who just wants to protect his scroll
his range in laning phase isn't that bad if he pokes by using EQ on minions, but imo it's late game that ryze falls off the hardest simply because he needs a good engage from his tank/support that hits everyone and that the champions hit are grouped all in E spread range.
tho his biggest strenght over other mages is probably his consistant point and click stun that is not an ultimate like malzahar and the fact that people WILL go in your R so you can force them to int.

Ryze definitely needs some love from RIOT but without a major rework.
My first thought when I saw this video: which one? No one plays him because everytime someone learns him he gets reworked.
They just need to compensate his scaling now that mana is much more scarce this season.
I like that mana is a bit harder to obtain and you don't have to worry about your mana bar after the 15 minute mark. But the lack of mana items killed ryze
Aah yes the Schrodinger Ryze
Ryze at this moment can reach 1600 damage off an empowered Q full build late game. That's... pretty luxurious tbh, and as the Ryze onetrick I am, I feel like as you get better at the champ, you get punished for it while you fast combo, since you get stuck on the spot and lose out on some of your damage, and that's awful, while other champions can kite or wave their damage without a loss on doing so. With that said, I think they could make their abilities' cast time scale with Ability Haste in exchange of his excessive luxurious damage late game.
I can hear that bakugan theme

Give Ryze's root the same chain effect as his q, but reduce the non targeted cc time by half and give him a shield when using his ult.
That might be too op. Have a possible 5 man stun every 10 seconds.
Will you do a cassiopeia one? As a main i wanna see a why every1 plays her or no1 plays her
i think his kit could be extended significantly, not just by increasing his stats or scaling, but giving his abilities some flavor.
