There's not a producer alive that understands drum n bass as well as Tom Jenkinson. This man broke it down and took it to another level. How fast it sounds without sounding like shit. All the beats flying by at 1,000 miles an hour. How?! Listen to 3:27 onwards. Wtf??? It's like he sampled drums at a million bpm and arranged them in such a way that the brain can actually process it. I wish I could describe it, it's insane.
When people talk about editing film, even when it's insane shit like taking 14 hours of footage of 3 hours of actual content and editing into 45 minutes... I always think of Squisher and the greats like Mike and Rich
I still love how the track seems to stumble around between a ragga jungle dance-floor anthem and pure chaos. It's a summary of everything that was great about the late nineties underground music scene.
@@turalyon650 He used a couple FM Yamaha rack synths, an Eventide Orville and a Yamaha QY700 sequencer as well as a TB-303 I think but that's just an educated guess, sounds like he uses a 303 on a few tracks here and there. Absolute genius, this tier of music is so high that it's hard to believe he didn't do any of it with some sort of DAW.

Main reason I'm currently trying to master it. All my stuff on my channel is like from quite a few or so years ago. I don't remember. As for now, I'm not even close of course to anything like this, but after the 4000 or so hours I've spent practicing it, I'd say I have about 6000 left. So about 12 more years.
20 years old, still a towering achievement that sounds like it could’ve been released yesterday.😞I miss that era of music. Like say 95-2005 or so. The sheer bulk of crazy good music across all genres from that time is .... staggering.
I can't even begin to explain how this song has opened my mind as a producer and a DJ. It was like he was giving us a quick music history lesson, while taking us to a deeper level that is rarely explored. Great tune and a spectacular album.

@@ihaveagoddamnplanarthur Yep, I've heard that one too. It's very spastic but not quite as scientific and insane as this.

Seriously, this one song must have taken ages to produce. I love how fresh it still sounds today.

This track definitely lives up to it's title
haha
favorite pusher album.
1:49 to 2:10 is such running through some dimly lit underground tunnel in a video game music. It's fucking awesome.
Thanatos gta sounding
Totally agree…that section harkened a hybrid soundtrack of (somehow both) Duke Nukem and Leisure Suit Larry.
Almost similar to some earthbound tracks
I fully agree, I love this part
Could definitely fit in to a flash game made by Diseased Productions (Sean "Weasel" McGee)
Legendary ending drum solo..... can't get rid of it 17 years later..... !!!!!
Some classic reggae right here!
what a piece of art
100% Better than everything Jungle related today. This album never ages, not a single track from the whole album.
fucking nailed it
20 years old now. I remember thinking Drukqs was the end all for drum editing. Then this record came out. Such an incredible era of music.
next gen beats
When the free form band barfs electronics in unison... Man I love Squarepusher...
