When this album dropped, Aphex Twin got scared -- and for good reason. His answer, the Richard D. James album, would not have been what it is if this immense debut statement of Squarepusher hadn't been so damned phenomenal, right out of the gate.
Aphex was doing the crazy fast breakbeat/glitch stuff with the Hangable Auto Bulb series in 1995 before anyone knew who Squarepusher was. A bit unfair to say he was 'scared', espeically seeing as he put out an album and an EP on RDJ's label before this. They were mates making the same sort of shit at the same time.
2 decades on and it remains utterly rhomboid
Gratitude
First Squarepusher track I’d ever heard. I didn’t go to bed that night.
same here. Port Rhombus is the one best track ever made at this genre, still listening in 2020.
@@_beyond7293 I remember this when it came out, reminds me of photeks hidden camera.
first track i heard from him too! great place to start...
When I’m having a bad day I always listen to Port Rhombus. It always makes me feel better
life is full of such sweet sorrows.
Tracklist:
1. Port Rhombus - 0:00
2. Problem Child - 6:49
3. Significant Others - 12:32
Still have a copy of this on wax. Probably a reprint, but I have it.
Que temazo port rhombus, la cagó.
thank you
oh and u have really good music taste
thanks for reuploading all this
now this is epic
panic attack rhythms offset by melodic riffs and doodlings....i don't know what to make of it, so i just listen.
"Panic attack rhythms" -- I haven't heard that description before, but it seems to fit. I also think of machines that are glitching and sputtering.
Great
Mélodic trip
Is pavor simply a name? What does this mean in Latin?

Agreed Port Rhombus is incredible 🤗 Still think Rdj album was a natural progression from HAB though man
