Avoid bad places. Avoid bad people. Run away if you can. No other choice, shoot the attacker if you fear for your life. In US, conceal carry handgun is allowed. I carry it everywhere every day. So far, so good. I pray that I'm never in a situation that bad. Alain Cohen is also prepared for the worst and a very good instructor. Thanks for the video.

Very good comment on the subject. I like to use this method in training but it's good to be reminded of the reality of that your target should be struck at least 4 to 5 times before you can apply the cavalere for take down. Else you're struggling and wrestling with them, have got to soft them up first!

Actually, at that range you are better off with a knife also than a gun. Inside 15 ft or so, when you are reacting to an attacker and especially if you have to reach for your own weapon, you will be injured/crippled before you can point a gun to fire your weapon. A gun is not a weapon that stops an attacker, unless you have a high caliber one and land a shot squarely to the head/torso. You will only injure them IF you even hit them with the bullet, they will stab you to death with the faster deadlier weapon, and then they will seek medical treatment for the gunshot if you did hit them. You are definitely correct that awareness of an incoming attack and a gun are superior... but if you know the attack is coming, you should have run rather than pull a gun and hope you don't miss.
The ideal weapon at short range is a solid metal bar that is thick enough to reliably shatter hand bones or crack a skull when you strike. It should be about the size of a hammer or small hatchet, and these items make a reasonable substitute but are easier to take from you and slower in the hand. You use the metal bar to strike the knife hand or that wrist, which will reliably disarm your attacker and immediately render them too crippled to effectively attack you.
More likely though is that you are just carrying a knife of your own, that you are entirely unarmed, or that you didn't have time to draw whatever weapon you carry because the attack was an ambush. In the latter two cases, this video applies. Discussing how you might arm yourself is like saying your friend with the sniper rifle 2 buildings away will just shoot your attacker in the head. It's not realistic and does not help you prepare.

.. Have SO Much Respect for this amazing, truly effective martial art...
In 25 years of dedicated training on the warrior path, with Muay Boran and Muay Chaiya as my base, and original system, for the last 10 years, alongside my training in the arts of Siam, l have continued to gain incredible insight and learning through the superb Israeli system founded by Imi Litchenfield...
Max respect to all the students and teachers of Krav Maga, and thankyou for sharing the System with the martial artists of the world. Walk in peace, my brothers and sisters.
    Once again, Max Respect.

Shalom Alain, if I may share from experience. The cavalier works in combat if you first use arm drag to pull attacker downward y forward, to destabilize his base structure, then apply the cavalier before he can replant and base out his structure. Also one important detail that determines whether the cavalier is effective or ineffective is the importance of holding their hand close to your chest as you turn your body with footwork or step towards and past them if they pull before applying body turn...Twisting your body, with their hand held tightly to your chest, after you've struck them, arm drug them downward y forward, makes it combat effective...Joint locks in combat are always incidental if not accidental, but they do work in frantic combat if one's trained a lot against resisting, competitive, young men whom don't view one as a superior to show deference but as a rival...as you have in IDF...The moment you take their balance, effect their structure, make them fall forward, sideway or backward, before they replant their base, the cavalier or any joint lock can be acquired during frantic combat...Also the cavalier is efficient transition from a standing arm bar following the arm drag...Hope this helps...Shalom.

I don't know the name of it, but I'm familiar with a martial arts move where ya break an opponent's arm by smashing their elbow on your shoulder. Basically, ya hold their wrist with one hand and use your other hand to hold on to the forearm. Then ya jerk your opponent's arm and smash their elbow on your shoulder as hard as you can. And based on what I've seen in movies, it might be possible to literally bend a limb the wrong way when ya do it. In fact, if ya use enough force, you might wind up breaking your opponent's arm and leave it dangling uselessly because the bones in the elbow had been broken apart.
I've seen it used by some martial artists that had roles in action movies. And I think the most notable in that particular case would be Tony Jaa when he was the lead character for The Protector. I mean, seriously. That dude knows how to break bones like toothpicks.

When the attacker holds the knife like that it's very common for them to use a leveraging arm to control their victim as they stab them over and over again.
Pulling and pushing the victim with the leveraging arm as they stab over and over with the up ward held knife.
Very important to learn how to deal with that leveraging arm if you want to survive

Alexander B. Did you even watch the video?lol. He explained he only applies once the guy is already dazed or close to being KO'd or is barely conscious. So this means he's going to pound the shit out of him first then apply it.He explained this which you would know if you had bothered to watch the video properly....Moron.Lmfao😂😂😂

It's simple. Just use the HEL-BOW. More power. (Or, you could just shoot him first.)

Hi alex im an ex boxing/mma/weapons combat expert. N if your dealing with a 1v1 one thing u can do is use the bend of the to force the knife into the target enemy. Then try to disarm.

All thu I agree with everyone on the chat here, Krav maga teachers show a technic, and students usually say "what if this ? what if that ? " Thing is there are many scenarios and many many krav technics per applications. To show one technic in a 7 minute clip and ask hundred questions is wrong, more lessons and regular lessons will be needed and will cover the questions that you ask. Kaz Urban krav maga instructor

are people really disliking in the fact that you can learn how to disarm somebody with an actual weapon

No, they dislike it cuz it gets you killed, its pure fantasy that you can think you can get a solid grip on a knife fighters arm, he will keep stabbing and stabbing furiously, you cannot grab it unles youre the lead actor in a action movie
