    I did a little bit of Krav training for self-defence purposes. I am not the fittest woman out there but I learnt that repetition to gain muscle memory is key to reacting even when you’re afraid.

    I really like the fact that the trainer tells them to protect the aggressor against severe head injuries. It is one thing to defend your-self but another to kill or paralyse another human being, EVEN if he or she attacks you. This distinguishes you from the aggressor and should be the reason why you should learn how to fight.

    • @uhJerryJackson
      @uhJerryJackson 9 років тому +29

      +Ryan Ortega Well, marines are trained to kill because, obviously, they're in a state of war. This is more for self defense in an everyday environment.

      mshesh16 I just said marines because he specifically said "marines4life", but yeah, I doubt he is or ever was one. I don't know about the "killing is acceptable" mindset. There are former American soldiers who have spilled some nasty stories about what they and their comrades did to innocent people, so I don't believe I can really have an opinion on it unless I've experienced it.

    • @ethandonnelly1973
      @ethandonnelly1973 4 роки тому +25

      @Michael Smith Doesn't matter what does and doesn't work, pushing someones head back in any situation aint the danger, it's the floor bit that's worrying.
      Forget this maneuver, the two parts I'm talking about is all I'm referring to

    • @ethandonnelly1973
      @ethandonnelly1973 4 роки тому +14

      @Michael Smith Well, again ignoring this maneuver, my general rule of thumb is that if someone goes down you make damn sure they stay down
      Thankfully haven't had to fight anyone in years, but I'm not about to risk getting the shit kicked outta me just because someone went down for a bit, especially when I never throw the first punch, A solid kick to the thigh or stomach is definitely on the menu at that stage

      I have said multiple times, I'm not talking about this video.
      ANYTHING you do that results in someone going down or having their head get pushed around is what I'm talking about.
      If someone goes down for any reason, and they hit their head, it's dangerous.
      And if someone goes down but clearly isn't out, I'm not gonna give them the opportunity to get back up on sheer principle, I'm not talking about this video or little pushes.

    Brown belt in Karate myself but I always found it less than real-life helpful that when practicing and demonstrating that someone would throw a half hearted punch and then freeze at their extension so you could do your thing. I doubt anyone in real life would just stand there, arms extended, and let you do your thing after throwing their punch. Of course, in class, you don't want to hurt one another and your learinng technique, but this is how most martial arts classes go I think and you have to start somewhere. Of course, I expect a lot of criticism over my view point. Fine, this is how I saw it.

      I was scrolling to see if anyone was going to point this out.. I agree with you.. It's no different than Aikido students throwing themselves around.. Muay Thai and BJJ are so successful because a) they're effective and efficient, and b) you actually do the moves when you train.. All this step here, pull this nostril with your left thumb, poke this eye with your big toe while biting this ear and headbutting his balls while keeping side control all within a split second bullshit is just that, bullshit.. Every krav maga nut I've sparred with were clueless, except for the ones with experience in another full contact sport like boxing, kickboxing or some form of grappling - which means what exactly? It means that krav maga is useless AND wearing camo pants and black t shirts doesn't help win you a fight... Nor does breaking your hands and wrists while punching in a real fight btw.. Oh maybe you can get one guy off you and walk away with a shot hand that's now useless, but once his friend comes flying in from over here, what are you going punch him with? Your fucking dick? Knowing krav maga guys, they probably would.. Jesus christ almighty.. 😒

I got as far as orange, and spent an hour in the ER getting my lip stitched up after that test. It's a tough, tough form of self defense. And you have an advantage over your attacker in that you have training and most likely, he does not.

    It's amazing how reality and training differ. I've actually had this happen, but in reality it was a friend and I wasn't expecting the situation to escalate so quickly. And unlike the video if someone is going to push you the distance is much much closer. No one does a run and push unless they really have no intention on actually engaging. The combination of timing and speed coordination to pull this off against someone who's been in a few most people just don't have. I think training seminars should come with a 'this is under optimal conditions' set up before passing it off as techniques that can work just because you've taken a few classes.

Fortunately, the bible foresaw the future and warned us perilous times shall come, we live in a very godless society where people place little or no value on human life.

    Although these hand-to-hand techniques have the potential to be effective in a real fight, as with any hand-to-hand technique, they are context-dependent.
    If there are people who seek a hand-to-hand technique that will work regardless of the context, they'll be waiting indefinitely.
    If you want to be best equipped to protect yourself and/or others from harm, you have to sufficiently dedicate yourself to more than just one technique. The more effective techniques you can execute effectively, the better equipped you'll be to protect yourself and/or others from harm.
    If you want to avoid violence occurring in your life, then don't do what is conducive towards violence occurring in your life. That's going to require thought, and possibly, a change of belief, in order to best equip yourself to do so.
    I hope this helps someone.

      This video is titled badly. It's basic telegraphing and self-defense. Read the opponent and react to the opponent. The side-step is a pretty low-level and common technique. It WOULD end a fight in 3 seconds if it went down like this, and you went for a face shot or a grapple. In fact, you might kill or seriously injure the person. There needs to be context for stuff like this.
      This is not for 'fighting', this is for 'combat'.
      "How to end a fight in 3 seconds, and go to jail for 30 years and live with the guilt of murdering/crippling a man your entire life"
      He does seem to suggest that you can deflate the situation, by noticing the telegraph of the 'push'. By diverting the 'push', nothing else really has to happen, as long as you are controlled about it. 99 times out of 100, the fight is over, and nothing really happened. But the suggestion that you should then clean the opponents clock is insane, and the way he is diverting the push is aggressive and doesn't need to be like that.
      Edit: Watch the shoulders, watch the hips. You don't even intend to strike the guy. Let him make the first move and deflate it. Also, if you have any sort of martial arts training, in circumstances like a weird street fight, the onus of responsibility is put upon you, even if you are only defending yourself. So you need to be aware of this as well. You will definitely go to jail for 'defending' yourself in this way, because you have a higher level of responsibility.
      The sidestep and reading a telegraph and how to deflate is good. That's what people really need to know.

What they were taught were tactics to take out the enemy in short order or get killed themselves. I was trained by the best, the US Army Special Forces while stationed in the central highlands of Vietnam.
