I‘m a huge POP fan, played every main POP game (including POP 3d). And I was sooo skeptical about this game, even don‘t want to play it. After I played the Demo I have to buy the full game. And after playing it for over 20 hours: This game is absolutely amazing and probably one of the best games I have ever played.
@@lycanwarrior2137 Well yeah, but if nearly everyone actively avoids the launchers their games release on then it seems quite likely they are losing money by not putting their games on Steam.
Prince of Persia, and the lost crown is especially impressive on the switch, especially as people were saying the switch couldn’t handle it at 60 frames per second. I’m an avid defender of the switch, especially with third-party games because many people like to dismiss the switch because of its age. This game shows that the switch is still more than up to the task. If the effort is put into the game, in fact, the switch version is the lead version.
The only problem i had with this game was the recovering bird from the pirate quest. The bug didnt let me finish it on my first run. But i was able to do it on the second run and plat it.
Hollow knight is my all time favorite in recent times (followed by Metroid Dread and Ori) but this comes awfully close to topping it. Also to add if you enjoyed the challenge of the white palace (more specifically PoP) in HK, this game will be right up your alley with its obstacle courses.
I played the demo for 15mins was sold so I bought it on PC and, Switch. Just finished it with 92% completion on Immortal mode. Can't wait for their next entry.
I just want to say to anybody who played and loved hollow knight, as a person who played and loved hollow knight, you owe it to the entire community to buy this game. We need to send the message that this is something that gamers want
@thebit69 it starts off slower than pop but it is a longer game I think. It lacks the combat complexity as far as comboing but it's my favorite m.v. game
I’ll tell you why I haven’t played it (yet)…I’m just kinda sick to death of 2D side scrolling, platforming, metroidvania games. I’ve just played so many of them, that they all just feel exactly the same now. It’s nothing against this game, it looks fantastic, this is more of a me problem because I’ve burnt myself out on this genre.
True since i got it on sale and the initial price is crazy . But imo this game does backtracking and boss fight miles better than hollow knight . Some people argue that the map plays for you which maybe true , but the map is far from small so the fact that optional hand holding exists is a good thing imo .
Rewarded myself after seeing a few reviews. COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!!!! There is nothing negative I have to say about this game (besides how punishingly difficult the bosses are). It has been the 1990's since a game actually challenged the player and demanded skill. Killing a few months on other things then coming back for a second playthrough!
Every review channel has recommended this game. It’s next on my list after banisheers ghost of new Eden, but I must finish death stranding, then ghosts new Eden, then I’ll get an Ubisoft connect plus membership! Yay backlog!
My one gripe w this game after like 15 hours and getting to snake in the sand pit. THE TAUNTING OF THE DOUBLE JUMP IS PEDANTIC AS HELL! Either gate things a little differently or just don’t gate as much. Playing 15 hours of a game with out a double jump is infuriating when there’s a million ledges you walk by that you know require a double jump. I got so annoyed by it I went to a walkthrough to look up when the hell you actually get it. It feels like this games gravity suit. Be like Echoes. Give the light suit a bit early and build around it. I know I’m going to hate back tracking through this game later on because there’s so much of the game I’ve seen already that I couldn’t get to because of the dbl jump and the fast travel system is not an excuse for unintuitive gating. And my one other gripe, some of the puzzles in this game are pedantic as hell too. Looking at you time trial ghost puzzles.
Because people are out of their damn minds, this game is amazing I even rank in better then android dread. Hope you all are loving it as much as me, currently stuck on the forest queen kiana boss fight
You nailed it in the first few seconds of the video. Did not think for one second this game would be good. But it is incredible I love it not a single flaw in this game to me. Boss fights are top teir some of the best boss fights ive played in a game. It will be hard to top this as my number 1 game played this year (my opinion dont care if anyone agrees) love it.
Tried the demo. For me, it is: -TOO EXPENSIVE for what it is. Should have started at $35 because: -Not very inspired art, quite generic and not memorable or unique. -Uninspired, generic regular enemies. Bosses are better. Graphics and polygons are too simple, look cheap in my opinion, not always but mostly. Expected a much more unique and inspired game from such a big company. -Design of main character. Haircut looks like a NY Latin American gang member. Turns me off a lot, can't find him credible as a main character. -Fight skills not solid in my opinion, seem to be a bit all over the place. -TOO EXPENSIVE. I expected a much more unique game from such a company. Seems that you need to be an Indie company to make a unique metroidvania game these days.
This game is a gem. I would rank it amongst the top 10 of all metroid vania together with SOTN, Super metroid, Hollow knight and Ori and the will of whips... PURE plateformer with tons of challenge. The bosses are awesome, the scenario is compelling, the size is massive, and the secrets are like...the most i have seen in the genre ever. If you call yourself a gamer, do yourself a service and buy this game instantly... you won't regret a second.
@@chloeryanvtuber hollow knight is special but I admit somehow can put people down for the slow low mood... It is amazing though. ori I advise you to push as both games are fantastic. The second one being a lot more rounded and close to perfect. To me dread is not in top 5 because it's too easy, not enough innovation, and somehow was great but I preferred the like of axiom verge for instance.
@@DownMemoryLaneParis i still have those games in my list so I'll be playing them, they just didn't really grab me like this game does. Axiom Verge is really good, and I do kinda agree about Metroid Dread but I found it harder than fusion personally (maybe its just because I've played fusion too many times)
because it is 50 whole pounds my brudda hollow knight is what 15 quid? the price is nothing but a violently aggro push for their awful version of more expensive version of game pass if this game was even close to an appropriate price then it would have sold more than 6 copies
This is the first Prince of Persia game i have played. This is so cool game and i like the combat. This game makes you feel like Goku with Swords and all the other power ups.
I thought a lot of people are playing it... If the rumors are true, then it's a real shame. Guess raving reviews aren't doing that much. Anyway, whoever was behind the marketing was extremely foolish. In no way is it obvious that we're not playing as the Prince. Everyone was shocked by seeing this weird dude, thinking it's a redesign for the Prince, and that was one of the reasons people generally reacted badly. The subtitle "The Lost Crown" is also useless: what does it immediately tell us about the game? Nothing. It looks like a random subtitle. Couldn't they at least add a subtitle that would play on nostalgia even a bit? Like, something with time, maybe? Since time is also very relevant to the game? "Prison of Time" maybe? Like, I came up with this in 5 minutes, and they had years. It's so baffling that I have to wonder: who gets paid for doing such an awful, completely out of touch job? Hell, they could've killed two birds with one stone and just called it something a bit shocking like "The Kidnapping of Prince of Persia". That would raise some eyebrows, wouldn't it now? Becuase what is that? The Prince is in danger in this game? So, we're not playing as him? Or are we escaping as him? People would start wondering what is the deal.
Oh its an absolutely great game, had me hooked the entire run, I loved the puzzles and combat skill floor vs ceiling. This game delivers on so many levels
This is a solid 9/10 game the only negative is the story is meh but actual gameplay was so good It actually convinced me that I wouldn’t mind if Ubisoft never went back to 3D for this series
I found the story pretty engaging. Sargon became one of my favourite characters and the world building is my favourite of the series, if there is a sequal, I can expect them to make it better
I played it and it's not bad but I just don't like Platformers. I really try to like them because I know there's some good ones out there. But it just feels so outdated and old. No matter what modern twists developers try to put on them.
I am over 20 hours in. Love the smooth gameplay, action, platforming and variety in exploration in the environment. I bought it on switch and I will have my review up soon. :) Great video. You have anew subscriber
this game actually got me into metroidvania genre. I just finished F.I.S.T.: The Forged in Shadow Torch and trying to play Dark Light. This game was awesome!
This was a fantastic game. A must play for any fans of Metroidvanias or platformers. I will likely get another copy for Switch on down the line to have it with me wherever I go.
I finished it at the 80 hour mark and still going through to 100% it, definitely kept my interest from start to finish! Excellent game, top notch control, excellent puzzles and a good progression system!
I'm going to be honest here. I was skeptical when this game was announced last year and didn't give it much thought afterwards because I was more focused on AC Mirage, but after this video, I'm going to get myself a copy....🙂😊😁
This is my first Prince of Persia game and have put a little over 80 hours into it and love it. I’m just curious but what do you consider “The Core identity of Prince of Persia” and how does The Lost Crown fall short?
What I was speaking too in that section was primarily how the fans have been feeling burned by Ubisoft by not getting a 3rd person single player action rpg type game like sands of time or something along those lines. Fans have been begging for it for a while from my understanding. And understand why their perceive a “2-d side scroller” falling short in that regard as also the story isn’t super good. But other than that as a stand alone title I think it’s fantastic. It’s just went you call it a “prince of Persia game” I see why they’re annoyed. If would be like if they made a resident evil game a battle royale with cartoony graphics. It’s just not the same.
@@thebit69 I appreciate the response and I can understand that reaction. Though Prince of Persia originally started as a 2D game so the Lost Crown is a nice little return to its roots. I personally liked the story for what it was and reading all the lore items in the game definitely helped even if there are some details that I wish got more focus. The big one being the implication that Sargon is the third son of the Queen and was swapped at birth with the one that gets kidnapped, which does in fact make him a Prince. It also helps add another layer to the narrative by having the child make up for the mistakes of the parent. This game is over all a very good surprise to hold fans over while the Sands of Time remake is being worked on by a different team at Ubisoft. The example you gave remindeds me of how furious Metroid fans got when Nintendo announced Federation Force after the series had been dormant. However, Nintendo later announced Metroid Prime 4, Samus Returns, and we got Metroid Dread a few years ago. The Lost Crown is an Amazing game so it all worked out in the end. I don’t think we’ve seen the end of the POP franchise.
It’s because this game is a large step down from what prime PoP was. Can’t blame fans of the franchise, Ubisoft should’ve known better than to shift the series in such a drastic way. It was bound to get hate.
@@somebodyouttherepeople only responded that way because of the standard that was set with the previous iteration of the series. Ubisoft set this game up to fail by greenlighting it before delivering a new triple-a PoP first
I bought it with the Steam release. After finishing it, PoP Lost Crown is one of the best Metroidvanias up to day: great platforming/parcouring, great combat, rewarding backtracking. The game is challenging and hard, but always fair.
I played and finished every prince of Persia game, even the original. To me it doesn’t feel like a prince of Persia (just like with the first remake). But it’s still a cool action platformer.
I'm playing it and loving it! The problem is Ubisoft have made zero attempt to say what sort of game it is, no where have they ever called it a MetroidVania, even I thought it was a 2D Dark Souls, like Blasphemous.
@@thebit69 Haha, Well there's some DarkSouls in it, like the Wak Wak trees are the bonfires of the game, and all enemies respawn if you use one (which they never tell you in the game)
I'm playing this and I love it. It's my third day-one-buy in the last 5 years or so. For context: I usually finish about 20-30 (mostly short) games a year in about 500-600h. I love it. BTW day-one mainly because Ubisoft should note that these kind of games are great and move away from the generic ACs.
I'm not playing it now because it's an Ubisoft game which means it'll go down in price soon. Most of their games will go on sale after only a few months. I love what I see but I'm in no rush to play it.
Biggest issue was the 1st trailer released it to having that stupid rock music that totally disrespected the origins. Why do that? Shows how disconnected the developers/publishers were. Instead of being authentic to the source material, they have to make it "cool" and put in out of place music. It's stupid. Turned me off completely. Then charging full price? Gtfo
I can't entirely recommend it for PS5 because there are some annoying glitches with appearing outside the map (and dying). The actions aren’t married well with the controller. The fighting is, but the platforming not at all. Story is great. Music excellent. But the final boss fight is even more glitched. If the boss pushes you into the glass barriers (borders), your character will be forced through them. You will then just have to jump off the edge of the map to reset. As soon as you do, if the final boss had a speck of health, he now has a full health bar. You also aren't compensated with getting your health potions back. This horrible bug made the final boss fight last longer than it should have. He has many attacks that could force you against these walls or you could go close to them to evade his attacks. He will then push you through them or if a cinematic happens, such as when he uses a parry-able move, that cinematic will force your character through the border. I like that there is platform assist for players who just want to play the story and not spend half an hour on complicated platforming strategies. I also like how it doesn’t punish you or make the game difficult to complete if you didn’t get every collectable in the game. But yes, those glitches I mentioned and how the controls weren’t all the great for platforming was what killed the game for me. When I beat it, this was one and done. Never bothering with it again. I am a PoP fan too. I've played every single one of them. I can't say I like how they went away from tradition. I know this was a tribute to the Atari version, but I really liked the old school PS versions. Except PoP2 lol. That one was not that great. But I used to play them multiple times because the story and game play was great. This one. Nope.
I disagree with the statement that core identity of prince of persia was stripped. In fact it actually returns to its roots. Remember Prince of Persia (by Jordan Mechner) originally was a platformer. It felt like it was an upgrade on that version. We even get to fight our own self. On top of that recent steam shows that they actually put dedicated effort for just steam deck. This shows developers went extra mile to provide a compelling experience for everyone. Great game.
Because it's not on Steam. Also reveal trailer put alot of people off with the music In the end - if it's a good game - promoute it, you doing a right thing. But people playing indie genres (wich Metroidvania is, even if new PoP is not an indie game) are mostly on Steam
Back in the day, Prince of Persia was a 2D side scroller. If anything, this was a return to form. I understand, however. There is a stigma when it comes to side scrollers. Somehow, it’s thought to be old game design to the younger audience. That’s why there’s so much negativity towards it. It’s too bad that many won’t give games like this a chance. They will be missing out on a very good game and a great genre, as well. My kids only play live service games and don’t play anything else. It’s sad. Thankfully there is a huge catalog of games to play just in case games like this become extinct. Glad to see you gave the game a chance! I’m not a fan of Ubisoft but this was a nice surprise.
Yes both Prince of Persia 1 and 2 were 2d platformers! It's a glorious return to form, I agree. They seem to use the best elements from all of the games
The reason probably is eye candy and bad story like you mention , the silouette designs are flat and blant, some movements of him looks less agressive and girlie sometimes, they hit hard to the old core audience, we played this as an art fantasy male scapism. Prince of persia from Ps3 its a better looking game and its from 2008 and sold 2 million copies , compared to Lost Crown with only 300,000. That is really strange because the core mechanics of Lost Crown feels more like a better well made game. But it just looks like a phone game and thats a big turn off for some people.
It's a good thing more people are talking about this game, it does look like one of the coolest Meterodvania released this year.

@@truthseeker8139hollow knight is great no doubt but that doesn’t mean this game isn’t awesome too
The credits on this game are as long as a Lord of the Rings movie.
Hahahaha!
Thank you. Now I know I wasn't the only person
😂😂😂 Thought the same thing
They even added a "speed up" option because of how long it was
Which is funny considering that Hollow Knight was made by three people and has more content than this, while also being three times cheaper...
Blazed through it in 26 hours. Could not put it down. Can't wait for a sequel.
Tbf Im a slow player ,exploring almost everything but it took my only 24 hours , did you 100% it?
dude how do you have like no subscribers, this content is top notch, just as good as the channels with millions. youre going places man.
🥲 thank you so much, Frankenslide. I really appreciate that. Truly. It really keeps me encouraged to keep doing what I'm doing.
Hope you're having a great day :)
I was impressed about the creativity and gameplay flow in this little hidden gem. Enjoyed every single second and I will definitely replay it one day
By the looks of it only streamers or walkthrough channels are the only ones playing it.
Yeah I kinda agree
I just finished this game is was AMAZING. Loved every minute of it.
Just look at that character "design" man
The fact I can't play it easily because it's not sold on Steam.
I know that definitely sucks.
It s on epic game
Ubisoft is annoying like that. They'd rather kill their PC sales than give Steam a piece.
@@aaronhumphrey3514 30% is a substantial cut for what is basically just a software launcher.
Also to add if you enjoyed the challenge of the white palace (more specifically PoP) in HK, this game will be right up your alley with its obstacle courses.
idk maybe ppl didn't want to play as Killmonger.
I played the demo for 15mins was sold so I bought it on PC and, Switch. Just finished it with 92% completion on Immortal mode. Can't wait for their next entry.
Played the demo too, did you prefer the start of the demo or the start of tge actuall game?
I just want to say to anybody who played and loved hollow knight, as a person who played and loved hollow knight, you owe it to the entire community to buy this game. We need to send the message that this is something that gamers want
I want HK2 to come out so bad. I never have played the first HK, but I don't want to play it and then the second one come out like a month later.
@@thebit69 that's exactly the way you should do it!
@thebit69 it starts off slower than pop but it is a longer game I think. It lacks the combat complexity as far as comboing but it's my favorite m.v. game
@@chrishastings7583 People talk about how great it is, I really think I need to play it
I've been playing it since it came out, really good game. It's definitely my favorite Ubisoft
So sad it’s done getting content
I’ll tell you why I haven’t played it (yet)…I’m just kinda sick to death of 2D side scrolling, platforming, metroidvania games. I’ve just played so many of them, that they all just feel exactly the same now. It’s nothing against this game, it looks fantastic, this is more of a me problem because I’ve burnt myself out on this genre.
I get it man. I really do. There are a lot of them.
16:35 “There’s a reason the classics are a classic for a reason.” LOL
Great video, mate!
Lmaooo. This is what I get for editing at 4am.
It’s because it’s $50. I feel like good metroidvania games are rarely above $30, with really good ones like Hollow Knight only being $15.
True since i got it on sale and the initial price is crazy . But imo this game does backtracking and boss fight miles better than hollow knight . Some people argue that the map plays for you which maybe true , but the map is far from small so the fact that optional hand holding exists is a good thing imo .
I like how the title says the metroidvania nobody's playing. It only takes 1 person to play this game for the title to be false.
I like the commentor doesn't know what colloquialisms are. It only takes one person to know that he has no lingual/social comprehension.
Just finished it last night. Best combat I've seen in a Metroidvania. Hoping for more!!
Fantastic game! Im close to the end and looking forward to playing more. Gameplay, pacing and variety are so good!! :)
It’s a perfect game in the sense of development. Absolutely loved it.
@@thebit69 some of the best level design in the genre... splendid pacing and design
I just finished this on switch. So amazing! No bugs! Please please please pick this up if you haven’t yet !
Game fell under my radar like most people. Huge surprise especially from Ubisoft.
I'm glad you think that way, Ubisoft should be encouraged to make more stuff like this.@@marcuscostello5635
Honestly what was so surprising was the fact that a Ubisoft game would beat Hollow Knight and Blasphemous as my favourite metroidvanias
This game is effing amazing! Nice review.
By the way, you just earned a subscriber. Great channel.
Thanks so much, Parallel! I'm super grateful for your support! Gonna be a good year with 2024 and the games industry.
For me, it is:
-TOO EXPENSIVE for what it is. Should have started at $35 because:
-Not very inspired art, quite generic and not memorable or unique.
I never really got into Hollow Knight or Ori, I might even put this game in top 5 just under or above Metroid Dread
Need more games like this. It is awesome.
At least after its release, it was poured with praises and I think quite a lot of people play it (more than I expected at least).
This game is amazing. Definitely my favorite so far in 2024.
It's the best game I've played this year
The dislikes are from haters who can't handle the platform jumping puzzles
It’s so good. It’s so creative and it just keeps getting better as you continue. I dropped Shadow of the Erdtree for this!!!
The game is amazing. I rolled credits this weekend.
because it is 50 whole pounds my brudda
hollow knight is what 15 quid?
the price is nothing but a violently aggro push for their awful version of more expensive version of game pass
if this game was even close to an appropriate price then it would have sold more than 6 copies
This is the first Prince of Persia game i have played. This is so cool game and i like the combat. This game makes you feel like Goku with Swords and all the other power ups.
The game is brilliant. I am playing on switch and just got to the final boss. The game play is so fluid and fun. The level design is sublime
Cost waaay too much. Looks likes an indie game with a god of war price
£50 is why
I started playing last week and I gotta say best metroidvania by far

100% Agree!
Oh its an absolutely great game, had me hooked the entire run, I loved the puzzles and combat skill floor vs ceiling. This game delivers on so many levels
that was sooooooo fuuuunnnn my godddd . im buying the dlc today .
This is a solid 9/10 game the only negative is the story is meh but actual gameplay was so good It actually convinced me that I wouldn’t mind if Ubisoft never went back to 3D for this series
Story is lame but its not even why I played it haha
I found the story pretty engaging. Sargon became one of my favourite characters and the world building is my favourite of the series, if there is a sequal, I can expect them to make it better
I played it and it's not bad but I just don't like Platformers. I really try to like them because I know there's some good ones out there. But it just feels so outdated and old. No matter what modern twists developers try to put on them.
I resonate with this a lot. Which is why I was surprised by how great this was.
Awesome game! Refreshing break from open world
Brilliant game one of the best I’ve played for a while

It's one of the best games I've literally ever played before. And I've never gotten into side scrolling 2d metroidvania games.
this game actually got me into metroidvania genre. I just finished F.I.S.T.: The Forged in Shadow Torch and trying to play Dark Light. This game was awesome!
Agree! One of the best games I have played in years!
I bought it two days ago, and it's amazing. Definitely a must play for any fans of Metroidvanias or Prince of Persia games.
I'm going to be honest here. I was skeptical when this game was announced last year and didn't give it much thought afterwards because I was more focused on AC Mirage, but after this video, I'm going to get myself a copy....🙂😊😁
Thank you for having an open mind. I felt the same way. It’s a good game. I think about it fondly.
it a good game people who plays platformer games they understands it
This is my first Prince of Persia game and have put a little over 80 hours into it and love it.
@@marcuscostello5635 I played though it a second time because I had that much fun.
Vahram as a villain was kinda meh but none the less best game I played in a while.

Fantastic game. I'm 96% complete at 50 hours. Very challenging even on normal difficulty
i dont understand people who bash on 2d games. done correctly theyre one of the best gaming experiences out there.
also this game proves my point that ubisoft is full of talented game devs but the execs are trash
Tired of the close-minded, uninspired comments "this looks like a mobile game", only tells more about the commenters.
yeah especially since classic prince of persia is a 2d game, those people look ridiculous in this context
Ubisoft set this game up to fail by greenlighting it before delivering a new triple-a PoP first
Lol, I actually forgot this existed. My bad.
But it’s still a cool action platformer.
this is my fav PoP game tied w/Sands of Time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm playing it and loving it! The problem is Ubisoft have made zero attempt to say what sort of game it is, no where have they ever called it a MetroidVania, even I thought it was a 2D Dark Souls, like Blasphemous.
I need to finish Blasphemous 2
@@thebit69 Haha, Well there's some DarkSouls in it, like the Wak Wak trees are the bonfires of the game, and all enemies respawn if you use one (which they never tell you in the game)

I love it.
BTW day-one mainly because Ubisoft should note that these kind of games are great and move away from the generic ACs.
I'm not playing it now because it's an Ubisoft game which means it'll go down in price soon. Most of their games will go on sale after only a few months. I love what I see but I'm in no rush to play it.
i finished it but giving up in getting platinum .. this game is fantastic
Gtfo
The music was super cringe. It turned me off too. So I feel that for sure.
This one. Nope.
This game is amazing
i wanted to play it but ubisoft said some suspicious stuff right before.
What did they say?
@@thebit69 users need to get used to now owning their games!
Also reveal trailer put alot of people off with the music
In the end - if it's a good game - promoute it, you doing a right thing. But people playing indie genres (wich Metroidvania is, even if new PoP is not an indie game) are mostly on Steam
That music was cringe. I will never forget how I looked away from my monitor in shame.
I love this game. I cannot put it down
Really great game. Tight controls, fun combat, cool characters and bosses. I played it on the series x and had a blast with it!
There was no scrolling in the original Prince of Persia, but I know what you mean :P
@@Larry I haven’t seen you in years! Great to know you’re still around! Life has been so busy, I fell out of touch with many channels.
All fair. You're the only person I've seen so far who knows the sales numbers. Good on you
