    I love how Clapton doesn't know what the hell to do with his hands when he's not playing the guitar.

    My name's Fran Raya and I'm a female singer/songwriter from the UK. I was invited to support Eric Clapton on his Scandinavian tour performing a set of my own songs. His band were Gary Brooker, Albert Lee, Chris Stainton, Dave Markee and Henry Spinetti. It was one of the most memorable times of my career. I am so very proud to have toured with him. A great artist and true musician.

    • @highbaroque3859

      Yeah, almost as good as Albert Lee and no place close to Gary Brooker but it must have been fun.

    His guitar playing has been on point absolutely forever, but it's quite stunning to listen to how timid and weak a singer he was on his first post-Cream album around 1970, and compare it to what an extraordinary singer he's become by this point in his career. He's a musician's musician not just because he's so naturally gifted, but because he's paid his dues and really put in his time to develop as an artist, even at the things he didn't come out of the womb being among the best in the world at.

    • @michaeldavidrubin8823
      @michaeldavidrubin8823 3 роки тому +1

      Absolutely agree; well said. With all the guitar technique, his early voice was completely unconvincing for blues. Life happens; paid his dues, so many ways (lost his little boy...). Now he's for real. Odd, too, that if I closed my eyes, I could almost swear that was Bessie Smith's voice.

    • @andreakerry3071
      @andreakerry3071 Рік тому

      Beautifully said ! Totally agree Blessings x

    • @Ryan-wo4rm
      @Ryan-wo4rm Рік тому +1

      Well said. I think it's not a coincidence that on a song where he delivers such a strong vocal performance, he delivers one of the most soulful, brilliant, and perfect guitar solos he's ever done. Saying that as a lifelong fan. It's almost as if he's saying, boy those vocals were a lot of work, now let me relax and speak in the way I was gifted to do.

    • @andreakerry3071
      @andreakerry3071 Рік тому

      No, It's been a lifetime of learning and practicing, and now thankfulness, he's happy in his skin and trusts himself,,so many do called Experts that have been harsh for almost his entire career don't hurt him anymore , Blessings x

      Thanks Graham. Its nice to not get hate mail for being sort of playful .. Blues so rules..the under-current under rock. EC has way too many great unreleased concerts. He could save the world but he is nit even aware of his fanbase. The Blues Rehearsals NYC are here..and the actual concert. Drifting on the Crossroads Box is pretty much killer. Electric, extended. U must know it..But Clapton thinks he is too old..says he is retired. I need an EC fix, up close. If I got to go to England..drastic but he ain't too old to play there..but lives here?? Best blues to everyone!

    @maxneu I think Eric gives plenty of credit to those who came before him. Listening to Eric Clapton got me listening to all his influences. If it wern't for him, I doubt if I'd know Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Robbert Cray, Robbert Johnson, Albert King, Howlin Woolf. Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker. He owes a lot to the blues. But he has repaid his debt by the bucket full.
    Steve Howe would tell you to have a listen to Chet Attkins. then you'll know where the clap came from. No copy but influence

    There ain't nothing I can do, or nothing I can say,
    Some folks will criticize me.
    So I'm gonna do just what I want to anyway,
    And don't care if you all despise me.
    If I should take a notion
    To jump into the ocean,
    It ain't nobody's business if I do.
    If I go to church on Sunday
    And I shimmy down on Monday,
    It ain't nobody's business if I do.
    And if my friend ain't got no money
    And I say, "All right, take all of mine honey,"
    It ain't nobody's business if I do.
    If I lend her my last nickel
    And it leaves me in a pickle,
    It ain't nobody's business if I do.
    I would rather my gal would hit me
    Than to haul right up and quit me.
    It ain't nobody's business if I do.
    I know that she won't call no copper
    If she gets beat up by her poppa.
    It ain't nobody's business if I do, Lord no.
    Well, it ain't nobody's business if I do.

    It's fine to borrow from others, everyone does. The difference is Clapton does an unplugged album that is lick for lick the exact same as the guys he is covering and claims it as his own, like he is a genuine blues man. He does a good job, I'll give him that, but I think he takes too much credit. Steve Howe, Frank Zappa, neither of them ever play anything I have ever heard anyone else do.

      That's pure crap. Clapton is profuse in his praise and very generous in his credit when speaking of past blues greats. Reverent, really. You're WAY off.
      I highly doubt there is any other performer alive more responsible for folks finding their way back to the great blues of the past century.
