Waaaaaoooo congrats on your fishing adventure tanks for posting your videos and your Reports have a great day out there
Nowadays I use a spinning rod as much as a bait caster on the delta especially this weird year!!! I throw a little 1.9 in paddle tail and my 5 in wacky I haven’t tried your set ups but I am. Thanks for the info.. I love listening to the drag on a spinning rod to!!!
Have fun,I'm lovin the spinning rod this year.
Great topic! I really appreciated the perspective b/n spinning rods and Bait caster.
Get out early this week. Spinning rod with a small popper will do the job-done by 8AM.
Morning Coop!
Nice Fish
Back in the day, my mentor Leroy Bertolero used nothing but spinning rods and diawa 2500 reels. This was before braid. He through everything on those set ups. He had multiple career wins, and several top 10 finishes. With today's technology he'd be hard to beat.
Spinning rods are just plain fun.
Hi Steve, thanx for emphasizing that IT'S OK to use spinning rods; I really don't like the terms "sissy sticks" and "fairy wands" and I laugh at most who use those terms because as far as I'm concerned, a vast majority of bass fishermen today, not all but many, learned to fish on a spinning rod but they seem to believe that once you've supposedly stepped up to baitcasters, you never go back to spinning rigs. I've heard comments that "he uses a spinning rod because he can't handle a baitcaster". I personally love my baitcasters but have equal love for and will always have spinning rods on board for specific applications. I believe the days of being uncool or not a true bass fisherman because you use spinning rods are melting away (just watch MLF and see all the big names using spinning gear to win). So again, thanx for endorsing spinning gear!
It was always due to ignorance !
i use spinning all the time (should be 7' for better throwing distance and accuracy). i only use baitcast for punching. less chance for birdnest. they work just fine, might not be as cool but get the job done.
Been having a blast the last couple of weeks with the spin rod and a small Rico popper.
I was out Monday and I had set up my bass, pro shops, MF 7‘3“ bionic blade spinning rod with a RTS 90 whopper popper and I could cast a country mile 👍 …. thanks for talking about braided line size 👊you are only the second person to mention about what braid# line size should be used on the Delta for a spinning rod…..the Gal I chatted with on instagram few days ago uses 40# Hi viz Yellow to 12# PLine …. So this report has made up my mind !! /e Dan Note to self : buy a new reel to swap out and set it up for Delta fishing instead of switching out line you use for the lakes..😎. …might not help me catch more fish BUT it’s a good excuse to buy more fishing gear 😂😂
Thanks for the support 199-good luck.
And so the crazy year continues.........
Great video, Steve. I have multiple 7’2 Tatula/Vanford combos I use on the Delta. When I’m not flippin or punching, they’re frequently I’m my hand. I can fish all day long with minimal fatigue. I use 20# Smackdown green to 14# FC Sniper and I can bomb it as far as I need. Is there a benefit to using heavier braid? Keep the the great videos.
How do you like the Vanford? I love mine.
I absolutely LOVE the Vanford. Smooth and ultra light reel. Every spring Bass Pro offers a rod/reel trade in program. Got $40 off all my Vanfords and Curado DC’s.
@@mikeneverve7570 Thanks Mike-I will have to check out that trade in program.
I'm still confused...I use a spinner exclusively and I consistently catch more than my buddies using BC'rs...and I punch, jig, frog and everything in between...what am I doing wrong?
Hello Steve my question is what gear ratio would you recommend when using a spinning rod throwing a Texas rig, hover rig.shakeyhead and dropshot? I’m really wanting to pair my gloomis 852 and 872 with a Shimano Stella FK just don’t know which model and I’m up here fishing Northern California Lakes
I think the 2500 comes with a 5.8 You cant go wrong with a Stella, I don't think I would bounce to a 3000 for lighter work like drop shot and shacey heads, you get a faster gear ratio but more weight. You don't need the extra line and I think they both have 20 lbs of drag. You're going to have a killer combo.
@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997 thank you for your reply I appreciate you.
