      BROTHERS Truck Parts have a question. Where did you guys get the guide map to know where to place down the sound deadening on a Chevy 79

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  4 роки тому +2

      @@soundsystem0094 That map comes with our sound deadening set. The placement is not critical though, just make sure you have some deadener every 12" or so.

    Finishing up my ride, and this is next. I hadn't planned on gluing down anything.. Chevy didn't glue my original one in. Seat, shifter, and sill plates kinda hold it all down anyway.

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  6 років тому

      Gluing it down makes it "hug" the floor and just improves the overall fit. The carpet we pulled from this truck wasn't glued either, but it had some obvious loose spots too. Ultimately it's up to you!

    Great work, How would you run wiring under the carpet?

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  2 роки тому +1

      just tuck it under and make sure it doesn't get pinched by the seat brackets or anything else that gets bolted down.

    Thanks

      I like to glue the entire carpet down starting in the center and working my way out. I find that it ends up less lumpy and fits the floor contours much better.

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  3 роки тому

      @@henrydixon3159 We carry high grade carpet. Can't comment on what other suppliers carry, but you need to be careful with carpets that are loomed in a neutral color, then dyed to the intended color. Those tend to fade VERY quickly or just change color altogether. The carpet we sell is loomed in the intended color from the beginning and not just dyed to match. Check our selections at www.brotherstrucks.com

    How far out from the middle would you use the adhesive on the carpet? Was thinking in cases where speaker wiring was needed in the future.

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  3 роки тому

      We go from the middle out to around 2" from the edge. We also recommend laying any potential wiring at the same time you lay the carpet, even if you wont be using it right away.

    I noticed before you put down the insulation there was that black rubber padding. On my pickup I don't have that it is just the bare truck, am I good to put the carpet and insulation w/o that black rubber or do I need it?

      The black rubber we had down is sound deadener. You don;t need it, but it's always a good idea to cut down cab noise.

      Still on the list, but not in a priority spot. Do you live in SoCal and need it done? If so contact our shop and see when we'll be shooting again and MAYBE they'll squeeze your truck in. Often times it's more difficult to find a truck that needs something done than it is to find something to do.

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  6 років тому

      You've got to replace the entire carpet. The high hump and the low hump are completely different molded shapes and you'll never get a good result if you try and make the high hump work.

    • @murrayd7259
      @murrayd7259 4 роки тому

      OR... buy a high hump and just fasten it with a few screws over the low hump. Then it's there if you ever do an LS swap.
