  • The biggest threat of you losing your money these days is by having it taken from you. Almost everybody uses a Google product for something, and this has now become a major problem, in ways you probably aren't expecting. It can now become a direct gateway to your bank accounts and especially your crypto. We break down how this new generation of scammers are evolving, and the very simple things you can do to stop them.

I never was a fan of cloud storage for exactly that reason. Or at least, don't put sensitive or personal information on it. It's always good to assume that ANYTHING you put on the internet, even if it's secure, will be accessed by someone who should not have access to it. You get convenience or security, but never both.
For passwords. There's a few 8-10 letter combinations I've committed to memory. Then I add a few memorable things, such as the year I opened the account, the site it's for, symbols (not !), etc. I have a consistent method, but very different passwords for every site.

Security is so so so important. This is the same reason why people need to keep a stash of cash and gold/silver somewhere. You need something offline.

    Couple things:
    1. I had my US passport stolen in a café near Parque Lleras (it wasnt as saturated w/ expats at the time) in Medellín, despite being a mostly gringo-lookin’ dude. This resulted in the most harrowing bus ride of my life through the Andes mountains to sort things out at the embajada in Bogotá. Don’t do what doofus did.
    2. Is there any qualitative difference between the various authenticators (Google vs Authy, MSFT, Duo, etc.)? You don’t have to recommend one but they all look the same, far as I can see…

Good question, if they're all accepted, I would just assume switch to Authy.

It's much easier to make a mistake by clicking on a scam link than people think.
