I have only watched Bret Weinstein a few times but this conversation (with two extremely intelligent people) made me realize just how brilliant the man is. Talk about an ability to zero in on the key points. The key point that got me was his statement that prayer to god does not require an outside agency/entity to be successful, that having prayed (and gotten your mind on the issue that vexes you) you go to sleep and dream up a resolution, or even dream itself calms your mind. This makes a lot of sense to me as my understanding is that we dream to orient ourselves.
markellis6898 Eric Weinstein calls himself an atheist who prays. I am also. I ask for help with what vexes me. I think it keeps me open to recognize a solution if it presents itself.
Well known Christian teaching that prayer doesn’t magically get the result requested, but more changes the one praying. That could mean that person has the capacity to deal with the result that comes even if it’s not the result they thought they wanted. It’s called God’s timing and His will.
@@sandradelvecchio6894 "If you think about something for a bit, you might find out what you thought you wanted wasn't actually what you wanted and that means my favourite sky wizard is real." Got it.
Unfortunately we dont have anybody with such wonderfully developed talents and capacities as yours in our language, german, at least not publicly known, so i suffer from isolation when it comes to further discussing your thoughts in my surrounding. But anyway, even though, they dont have an impact on my social relations and discussions, it is an allmost masochistic pleasure to be forced by you to follow each stream of your thoughts to its very end, knowing and appreciating very much this genious in you that presents each idea and stream of thoughts in a way, that it is guarantied that anyone who has the capacity to follow, undoubtly would be able to question them. This is the finest art of presentation. Congratulation and thank you very much for your work.
I thoroughly agree with Bret. Comedy, and especially music, are powerful vehicles when it comes to ideas and thoughts. Combining these for a rally is a fantastic idea and will produce the desired effect, especially considering the talent there performing. I so look forward to the camaraderie of like-minded brothers and sisters who love our country and want to bring it back to sanity.
In my old life as a (assistant) professor, I was constantly drawing the ire of my more experienced colleagues because (among many other things) I was a particularly effective teacher, and I cared about teaching as much as researching. I'm happy now to see that a lot of the tools I used in the classroom are being used by spectacularly successful professors. I had a code of conduct. I never used lecturing notes more complicated than a couple bullet points -- and I usually taught with no notes at all. This even bled into my current life as a software engineer: as a single example, the importance of brevity in any document cannot be understated. The list goes on and on. I'll just say I'm infinitely appreciative of Dr. Peterson and his amazing guests.

I found the seminars in my history degree the best part of the learning experience. The 3 day social events to provide face to face lectures is the kind of thing the Open University ( one of the two best things PM Harold Wilson ever did) does.
LOVE listening to Bret and Heather - both are very insightful, willing to apply their principles to everyone equally, regardless of ideology/political alignment, and persuasive in their arguments. Also, IMHO Bret has a gift for distilling his insights into incisive and succinct explanations.
I like to try and make a suggestion to anyone in the future who interviews Brett and Heather. Unfortunately Heather, while brilliant doesn't have the name recognition to be out there on her own, getting a lot of interviews. She does interview but not as many as she deserves. So then her and Brett together go on a lot of podcasts, but then there's the dynamic of the interviewer knowing more about Brett and he's Fielding the majority of the questions. And that really shorts us on getting Heather's knowledge. So in the future I would love to see interviewers either just fine Heather on her own and pick her brilliance. Or if they're going to have Heather and Brett have specific questions lined up for Heather herself so she doesn't find herself sitting there for the majority of the time. Looking at Brett. Heather is a brilliant mind and I'd love to hear more from her and I'd love for others to hear more friends.
Dearest Dr. Peterson, you were talking about power, and how the opposite of power is the spirit of play. And I have been reading Madeleine L’Engle lately and I came across a line from _The Rock Which Is Higher_ that stopped me in my tracks. Madeleine wrote “Perhaps the opposite of love is not hate, after all. Perhaps the opposite of love is power.” And so I thought you might like that a great mind like Madeleine L’Engle’s arrived at a similar conclusion to yours. I think that the Peterson Academy social media platform sounds like very Heaven and I can’t wait to join in as soon as I am able. Love from Ruth Anne
I agree with "The Opposite of Love is Power"; however, love, like empathy without borders is chaotic. Love, human love, still requires a framework of presuppositions with agreed upon boundaries.
I can see that, because in real love you give your power to the one you love, if you are head over heels for someone you have put your power in their hands
I love connecting laughter with comprehension. I experience this at times when I read the Bible. It is a form of worship that starts with laughter and often moves on to tears.
This is pretty genius, the systems in which we define and enforce threats to any system, despite the best intentions are very important and hard to enact once you get to a certain level, with a lot of effort in this area, I applaud this discussion and how much work has went into all this...incredible!

At 54 minutes Brett describes brilliantly, the essential spiritual experience of live music. As a musician and a sound engineer I have been privileged to have felt this crystal moment in time many times. Rare and and moving, once so powerful I could see the energy with my naked eye.
I enjoyed this podcast, it was interesting and informative. I don’t pretend to be able to fully comprehend everything but what it does for me is open my mind to listen and learn. Thank you
It is amazing how fast Jordan speaks when he knows the people who he is conversing with can keep up. For all its faults, the internet allows us to sit in on three intellectual titans. Thank you for sharing. There would be no one like you in my world if you did not.
It is humbling, to recognize how weak and infantile we are as a generation, and how strong and wise our ancestors were without technology and comforts (that thet happen to build). The forces of good and evil, fairy tales i thought.... But i can feel it to my bones.
Most of those fairy tales were dark and brutal and have been sanitized for modern consumption. They are a perfect example of what our ancestors knew that good and evil, darkness and Light are equal forces in this world. They knew, cosmically speaking, you HAD to break a few eggs to make an omelette. Today, we are running our civilization as if you can have that omelette without breaking those eggs
I love how Peterson is talking about openness and creativity, how it’s associated with the ability to connect distantly related ideas. Then, he drops the word penumbra without blinking or slowing down his speech. (I had to look it up - Penumbra: noun 1. the partially shaded outer region of the shadow cast by an opaque object. 2. a peripheral or indeterminate area or group. "an immense penumbra of theory surrounds any observation") So he’s describing creativity and openness while casually demonstrating his verbal creativity and openness. Incredible!
If it helps, people with a less vast vocabulary can have a strong reaction to being spoken to in language outside of what they can comprehend. So responses that seem antisocial might be more reflective of low frustration tolerance.
How blessed are we to get to be able to watch 3 brilliant minds get into a room and share ideas all from the view of a cellphone screen. It’s so amazing!
Brilliant couple. Uniquely suited by experience & brain 🧠 power to give an answer to something Brett said we need: "Men & women need a new evolutionary contract for the modern era." So true. One of the biggest challenges of our times, for human survival, more immediately for the survival of Western Civilization

I don't think JBP has sounded so wise like this level before, and that's kudos to all three but especially to his fellow musicians in this dialogue--and, the topic of what they talk about. Because they are in the political airs of real things, that's fine, and I may not agree with their ideological stances, yet, the evolutionary texture and lens of the talk takes it all to a higher level of evolutionary thinking I long for. Loved the discussion on comedians (i.e., tricksters)--and, so on. Really well done folks.

I always wanted to create a true social network unlike the anti-social networks we have today. A place where we can truly share our passions, stories, likes, truly make new contacts in a useful way, birth up new ideas and plans to achieve tasks and get people to join them and achieve useful goals together. It could be used by all who are online and have offline versions also where people meet in person to achieve goals together in their communities such as collective farming initiatives or anything needed by the local community, well digging, social support systems etc.
Brett is espousing pascal’s wager and that’s fine as it’s still an interesting starting point 400 years later. But what Pascal knew was something that neither Jordan nor Heather and Brett want to contemplate: you could call it the inverse of the wager: what does one lose in eliminating a personal relationship with an actual God? The list might be long, but I think it could include an invitation to neurosis, which should interest Jordan. In other words, when does one know that they have been holy and righteous enough to merit this heaven? The answer is all over the New Testament: you can’t do it, when you think you can you end up being at least prideful, if not hurting other people, and believing such a thing makes empty the suffering of the cross. Secondly, believing that the metaphor or symbology of God versus, an actual relationship with a literal God rips away the fabric of what this offer gives one: that when you are in the right relationship with God, you are able to be in right relationship with other people. I like Jordan’s intellect and I have deeply appreciated Brett and Heather‘s courage over the years. But Pascal knew better: when you read the pensees and when you read the testimony of his “night of fire”, he knew down to his core that he had been touched and changed by an actual Jesus, not a metaphorical one. I’m gonna keep praying for all of them. They are inches away from not just the reality of the historical Jesus but why this literal person Still inspires believers in Iran, China, and throughout Africa to go to their death. They don’t do it for some earthly propagation of their legacy. They do it because they have forever fallen in love with the person of Christ.
Truly remarkable people right here! Can't agree more with the significance and opportunity we have at the moment to preserve the principles of America.
If anyone is reading this, the 29th of September is the feast day of Saint Michael The Archangel. Pray for his powerful intercession so that this event is under the divine protection of our Lord Jesus.
Things like this give me a profound sense of hope. Not just in the short term, but moreover in the greater sense. This problem won't go away even if trump is elected. Seeing so many brilliant and strong people come together gives me hope that long-term we will win the war.

The way Bret vocalized the way in which religious values propel one into the future or "Heaven," at the end of this talk was beautiful. It's exactly the way I've seen the overlap between biological adaptation and religious virtue for quite a while now, and I've never heard anyone put it more clearly. My heart was lightened upon hearing it.
C.S. Lewis said "one who wishes to remain a sound atheist cannot be to careful of his readings".... so glad that more a awaking to the fact that science will only get you so far
I am always fascinated every time these 3 have a sit down like this. Bret and Heather have such an advantage. They each have a genius to bounce ideas off every time a thought is in its infancy.
Our school district does opt-in forms for each class. Every teacher produces their own, they’re all similar yet different, and mostly explain the responsibility of each member of the trinity (teacher, student, parent). Many involve a list of literature or films to be taught; sometimes a scope and sequence; often important dates and standards are introduced. Student and parent signs and returns.
Is Bret aware that September 29th is Michaelmas where we celebrate St.Michael the Archangel and all the angels? St. Michael is who defeated Lucifer in the heavens. And we now need him to help us defeat Lucifer here on earth. Synchronicity or strategy?

Shared laughter is touching the soul of another person. Wonderful broadcast , one of the best.
Have a look into semiotic thinking.
Listen to his brother Eric's last appearance on Chris Williamson. You will be astounded 😊.
Love Bret's practical ability to relate to everyday people. Jordan's propensity to using technical terms.
Oh boy, there has been a torrent of conversations lately. The hits just keep coming! :)
Bret and Heather have been on my mind since their Dad Saves America conversation! This is perfect timing.

You can blame Hegel, Marx and that Austrian for your nation's lack of an open forum of debate!

I always stop when I see Brent & Heather interviewed!
Eric is also a fantastic mind. Have you seen the recent Podcast with Chis Williamson?

It really is a crime that they corrupted the universities so much that it was necessary for these 3 to leave them. Look at the pure joy they share in presenting and constructively discussing their ideas. Thanks again for the authenticity!
The universities did it to themselves. They made themselves irrelevant by giving up the standards of seeking truth.
Agreed, yet now we all have more access to their insight and wisdom.

I agree with you I live in California and at this point it is unwise and unsafe to send your kid to any state school at any age, especially with the new law that Gavin Newsom wrote him taking away the parents right to know what’s going on with their children when they’re at that school

Yes. I recently discovered Eric. Great minds.
Thank you all for the talk please watch fully, I enjoyed listening to this and I hope everyone has a great week and year c: ❤️
"All true stories must reconcile"- Heather said this and that one hit me deep in the soul ❤️
Watching Dr Peterson develop a thesis is super fun. I feel like my dog must feel when I use him as a sounding board. I am going to need to watch this a few times to fully understand the nuance of Dr Peterson's revelations.
I never can figure out what he’s saying. I am a believer in simplicity is genius.
This is above my level but I’m enjoying grasping at it the best I can.
Best conversation I’ve heard in a long time. I love these people.
Heather is very impressive, and shares with a different, calming energy that enriches her words even more deeply.
5:38.. "ALL CAPS CROWD." I absolutely love you calling out the fictitious nature for which most of us are living under. Admiralty Law.

This is pretty genius, the systems in which we define and enforce threats to any system, despite the best intentions are very important and hard to enact once you get to a certain level, with a lot of effort in this area, I applaud this discussion and how much work has went into all this...incredible!
I have to confess… Peterson has grown on me over the last four years.

I am so happy to see such brilliant and discerning people gathering together for change.
Bret and Eric Weinstein are incredibly smart and level-headed. We need to give them more platforms.
The genesis of this movements visual aesthetics are comforting and clutch.
It wasn’t all that great back then. A lot of evil .
Its all by design.

WHAT A GIFT TO HAVE YOU TOGETHER!!!
I love how Peterson is talking about openness and creativity, how it’s associated with the ability to connect distantly related ideas. Then, he drops the word penumbra without blinking or slowing down his speech.
(I had to look it up - Penumbra: noun
1.
the partially shaded outer region of the shadow cast by an opaque object.
2.
a peripheral or indeterminate area or group.
"an immense penumbra of theory surrounds any observation")
So he’s describing creativity and openness while casually demonstrating his verbal creativity and openness.
Love listening. I always learn but also realize how limited my learning has been so far. These guys obviously have more time to think deeply. I am continuously running around in circles, trying to make ends meet. Having ground hog days. Love to have more time to even reach a higher level of reasoning that these lovely people do. JBP is at his 'best' here, like a musician in an ensemble with the 'best'--yes, Quality imbued.
Looking forward to joining you fine folks this weekend. Road tripping to DC from Michigan 🫡, it will be my first time there. I'm sure it will be a memorable first time!

I always wanted to create a true social network unlike the anti-social networks we have today. A place where we can truly share our passions, stories, likes, truly make new contacts in a useful way, birth up new ideas and plans to achieve tasks and get people to join them and achieve useful goals together. It could be used by all who are online and have offline versions also where people meet in person to achieve goals together in their communities such as collective farming initiatives or anything needed by the local community, well digging, social support systems etc.
sounds like a great idea
Love the Peterson Academy. First-rate professors and great content. I love it-my brain needs it
Brett is espousing pascal’s wager and that’s fine as it’s still an interesting starting point 400 years later.
What a team! So grateful for these three!🔥🔥🔥
Jordan is a brilliant man with in tact morals, a difficult combination to find

The way Bret vocalized the way in which religious values propel one into the future or "Heaven," at the end of this talk was beautiful. It's exactly the way I've seen the overlap between biological adaptation and religious virtue for quite a while now, and I've never heard anyone put it more clearly.
