I'm the genuine article. I read Douglas Valentine, Christopher Hitchens, Marilyn B. Young, The Pentagon Papers Senator Gravel Edition. I was all over the LBJ library. I'm a major league scholar and I'm not going to spill. I am a loyal American. I have a stack of books here. I have a library you are not allowed to read.
I need help with basic math. Can the Academy help me with my crappy math? I know math, but I have to practice and practice like a baby. Math is like a left hand. I can hit a ball from both sides of the plate, but I can't do very well lefty, unless I practice a lot. Then, I will hit it out of the park. Someone has to walk me through this easy industrial hygiene math for BCSP (CSP). I got smoked by them and I shouldn't have failed. I think it was my math that failed this test. That and they used some standards I didn't know. I have to re-read the resources at BCSP. I have all the books. I need a math teacher to drill it. They will not put the test past me if I get a tutor. I can take this exam again in 6 weeks.
The laugh track is so weird.

This was my first step out of atheism - witnessing the bitter fruit of abandoning God in those who do so. No God, no family, no community, no nation, no race, no hope, and a perfect foundation for state brutality. It is clear that atheism multiplies and magnifies the scale of human suffering when it is measured, that is why the FBI is now trying to avoid the collection of crime data.
Americans have never been so unhappy as now that they've abandoned their faith.

Oh I am so glad you are working together with Bret and Heather, dearest Dr. Peterson. Those two have come so far since Evergreen. It is unspeakably moving to me that people so pragmatic and rationalistic as Bret and Heather sense that what is happening in the world is spiritual and not cultural or political. I have been sensitive to spiritual warfare since I was a child and have never felt anything quite like this.

As a Catholic Priest It is so much the better for society to hear men and women like Heather and Bret who see themselves as secular and atheist, but who also strive for genuine goodness and truth. These are true scientists. I love to listen to them as they offer so much insight and knowledge to think about. A breath of fresh air than the older atheists who are like a dog with a bone and refuse to listen to genuine faith filled voices that offer logic and wisdom of religion that transcend the ages.
Also just to add to the conversation, any complex issue I have had and I pray to God about, I’ve never, to my knowledge, dreamed about the issue. It seems to get fixed out of my control.

I just wondered why you thought it important to mention that you were a Catholic priest. I have decided to ask, after rewriting this comment several times, in which most of the previous iterations were lengthy and infuriated by the fact you mentioned you are a Catholic priest, like your comment had further merit, or less merit with the fact. Which I struggle to see why it does?
Just for my own Preface: The Lord Jesus Christ is my saviour and through him I get to the farther, God. My relationship is strong and pure and real, and no one can take that away from me. I believe today, scripture and the Bible which is the word of God has all our answers. Reading Carl Jung contributed massive to that fact, but none more than scripture and God.
I suppose what it is I want to understand is, if you are a Catholic priest, I wonder why it is you think to any meaningful extent so as to mention it, what constitution one has in public about what they preach and believe has much difference? I'm sure there has been plenty a mass murderer or rapist in the witness box, so psychopathic or narcissistic that has appeared so humble, so sincere.
You know, as a Follower of Christ. Being evangelical, you would expect, for one tiny minute you might even hint at the fact that the answers are in the Bible. in seeking a relationship with God and the lord Jesus Christ. I mean for heaven's sake. Call yourself a priest.
what you've basically said is. I like these people. They are nice and cuddly in public and aren't rude (the antithesis of a "dog with a bone" I believe you said).
The world is falling further deeper into this madness because of the reductionist, enlightenment view and assertion of ultimate reality, which is a tiny fraction of the ultimate truth, God. This priest is a shill, which I infer from his comment advocating for more of this in the public sphere. Not priest-like.

Bret and Heather's podcasts and interviews have helped keep me well during the last several years. These two have directly led me to have better analytical tools, viewpoints, and most of all questions. Their adherence to the scientific process (and the proper use of terminology ),evolutionary lens, the predictions that logically flow from their hypotheses coming to pass, their admittance when one or both of them got it wrong, their humility, and Bret's constant search for puns is unlike anyone else out there. Truly unique, insightful and valuable. So glad to see them on Peterson Academy. It's obvious now, I should have predicted it--and makes me much more likely to sign up!

I have only watched Bret Weinstein a few times but this conversation (with two extremely intelligent people) made me realize just how brilliant the man is. Talk about an ability to zero in on the key points. The key point that got me was his statement that prayer to god does not require an outside agency/entity to be successful, that having prayed (and gotten your mind on the issue that vexes you) you go to sleep and dream up a resolution, or even dream itself calms your mind. This makes a lot of sense to me as my understanding is that we dream to orient ourselves.

In my old life as a (assistant) professor, I was constantly drawing the ire of my more experienced colleagues because (among many other things) I was a particularly effective teacher, and I cared about teaching as much as researching. I'm happy now to see that a lot of the tools I used in the classroom are being used by spectacularly successful professors. I had a code of conduct. I never used lecturing notes more complicated than a couple bullet points -- and I usually taught with no notes at all.
This even bled into my current life as a software engineer: as a single example, the importance of brevity in any document cannot be understated.
The list goes on and on. I'll just say I'm infinitely appreciative of Dr. Peterson and his amazing guests.

So then her and Brett together go on a lot of podcasts, but then there's the dynamic of the interviewer knowing more about Brett and he's Fielding the majority of the questions. And that really shorts us on getting Heather's knowledge. So in the future I would love to see interviewers either just fine Heather on her own and pick her brilliance. Or if they're going to have Heather and Brett have specific questions lined up for Heather herself so she doesn't find herself sitting there for the majority of the time. Looking at Brett. Heather is a brilliant mind and I'd love to hear more from her and I'd love for others to hear more friends.

Dearest Dr. Peterson, you were talking about power, and how the opposite of power is the spirit of play. And I have been reading Madeleine L’Engle lately and I came across a line from _The Rock Which Is Higher_ that stopped me in my tracks. Madeleine wrote “Perhaps the opposite of love is not hate, after all. Perhaps the opposite of love is power.” And so I thought you might like that a great mind like Madeleine L’Engle’s arrived at a similar conclusion to yours.
I think that the Peterson Academy social media platform sounds like very Heaven and I can’t wait to join in as soon as I am able.

I love how Peterson is talking about openness and creativity, how it’s associated with the ability to connect distantly related ideas. Then, he drops the word penumbra without blinking or slowing down his speech.
(I had to look it up - Penumbra: noun
    1.
the partially shaded outer region of the shadow cast by an opaque object.
    2.
a peripheral or indeterminate area or group.
"an immense penumbra of theory surrounds any observation")
So he’s describing creativity and openness while casually demonstrating his verbal creativity and openness. Incredible!

JBP is at his 'best' here, like a musician in an ensemble with the 'best'--yes, Quality imbued. I don't think JBP has sounded so wise like this level before, and that's kudos to all three but especially to his fellow musicians in this dialogue--and, the topic of what they talk about. Because they are in the political airs of real things, that's fine, and I may not agree with their ideological stances, yet, the evolutionary texture and lens of the talk takes it all to a higher level of evolutionary thinking I long for. Loved the discussion on comedians (i.e., tricksters)--and, so on. Really well done folks.

A place where we can truly share our passions, stories, likes, truly make new contacts in a useful way, birth up new ideas and plans to achieve tasks and get people to join them and achieve useful goals together. It could be used by all who are online and have offline versions also where people meet in person to achieve goals together in their communities such as collective farming initiatives or anything needed by the local community, well digging, social support systems etc.

Brett is espousing pascal’s wager and that’s fine as it’s still an interesting starting point 400 years later. But what Pascal knew was something that neither Jordan nor Heather and Brett want to contemplate: you could call it the inverse of the wager: what does one lose in eliminating a personal relationship with an actual God?
The list might be long, but I think it could include an invitation to neurosis, which should interest Jordan. In other words, when does one know that they have been holy and righteous enough to merit this heaven? The answer is all over the New Testament: you can’t do it, when you think you can you end up being at least prideful, if not hurting other people, and believing such a thing makes empty the suffering of the cross.
Secondly, believing that the metaphor or symbology of God versus, an actual relationship with a literal God rips away the fabric of what this offer gives one: that when you are in the right relationship with God, you are able to be in right relationship with other people.
I like Jordan’s intellect and I have deeply appreciated Brett and Heather‘s courage over the years. But Pascal knew better: when you read the pensees and when you read the testimony of his “night of fire”, he knew down to his core that he had been touched and changed by an actual Jesus, not a metaphorical one.
I’m gonna keep praying for all of them. They are inches away from not just the reality of the historical Jesus but why this literal person Still inspires believers in Iran, China, and throughout Africa to go to their death. They don’t do it for some earthly propagation of their legacy. They do it because they have forever fallen in love with the person of Christ.
