It's refreshing to see a review that points out all the quirks and little things no one talks about when using the phone. Some youtubers can market it as a pretty good phone and show off all the good things it can do, but knowing how the daily use is, is a really important factor to buying it. So you don't get disappointed when you buy it.
It's a great phone for its price! I always used the Samsung Note line and it took some getting used to with such a small form factor. I almost returned it after a week of use but I said I'll give it a month. It has become my main phone. Great for making calls, games, UA-cam and even surfing the web. Only thing is the battery will drain if you do those things often. Just buy a nitecore carbon fiber power bank (super light) or a 21700 battery with power charging ability. You'll be set the whole day.
@@superwellplayed I'm about to get it! But I have some questions, I want to know if this phone has helped you curb your phone usage and how? I currently own an iPhone XR and I want to get this phone, try it for a month and maybe sell the XR. My plan is getting the jelly 2 for messaging, quick bank deposits, etc. And also getting a dumbphone, which I'll use as a stopwatch, alarm clock, etc. I'm just worried that I'll get a mini/uncomfortable version of my current phone and my phone usage won't go down.
@@camiloapr5771 it can go both ways. For me for sure my phone uses has gone down, but a phone is still a phone and depending on what you do you can still get sucked in. For me the biggest difference is that I'm really conscious of it now
@@camiloapr5771 I use it as much as I use my iPhone 6s plus. Only thing is the battery is smaller and you would probably charge it every so often. I like the fact that it's smaller and not as heavy on the hands but you have to take into consideration the size of the screen and it takes a little getting used to. To curb phone using, go for a hike on a nice trail, meditate, read a book, don't use phone on bed and cut out electronics an hour or two before bed time. Only you can curb your phone using, it's a battle but anything is possible with the human mind...
Love mine. Have had it since August 2020 with no problems. I'm a light to moderate user (no social media running in background to drain battery) so I can get 2-3 days of battery life. If you're a heavy user, it's not for you. The Chrome app is on the bottom because it is a Google phone! You can change that. Fingerprint works great--you don't try to get your full finger on it. You tap 5 or 6 times in different areas of your finger. I've done it for both hands. It always works. IDK--I'm never happy with reviews LOL
You can go to system gestures and turn off the swiping back feature. It already has the capacitive buttons and super tiny, so no use for those features. Also, my left capacitive button works fine every time. I think it is acting up from you dropping it, maybe use warranty to exchange? I use the lanyard that came with it and it has saved me from dropping it many of times. Your phone should have came with an extra screen protector in box, swap out your broken one! I recently updated to Android 11 and Unihertz had their own update as well. Finger print reader as worked for me 95% of the time, minus wet/sweaty fingers. I added 2 finger prints of the same finger and it has made the scanner more accurate. Also, swift key is the way to go on this small phone. Hope for an update on camera software, but that's not that big of a concern for me at the moment.
The phone screen is not actually broken because if you peel in the top left or top right corner, then it’s actually just a screen protector that you broke and they normally give you a spare to replace it with.
i think it may actually be the screen. i am fairly confident that the phone comes with plastic screen protector and i don't think plastic screen protector cracks.
Really helpful video. I appreciate the detail, and I wasn't thrown off by the cuts at all. I found the white text hard to read with no border. Thanks for creating this content
Beautiful van conversion! I’m typing this comment from my little home on wheels. I feel that downsizing and simplifying my digital space is a twin effort with downsizing and simplifying the physical. Glad to see a like mind! 😁
The 2 chrome icons on your home screen is likely just 2 seperate shortcuts leading to the same app. You can tell by looking at the list of all the installed apps. Its not like the iphone where every app has an icon on the home screen
Regarding the fingerprint reader: for better results I have registered the same finger multiple times to give it even more variations (i.e Finger 1 and Finger 3 are both my left forefinger, Finger 2 and Finger 4 are both my right forefinger). It does seem to help.
maybe the king kong mini 2 with gorilla glass 4 is a good alternate for the uniherz jelly 2 because of screen protection plus water and dustproof and 3000mah battery, the specs are similar only the weight is a little more with 124g, both are using android 10 but the jelly 2 has nfc and fingerprint while the king kong mini 2 has not but for the better survival ability in dayly life without cracking the screen, a view of the king kong mini 2 is worth it.
I just want to add, I have a Jelly Star and the sd card can NOT be encrypted. No doubt it's probably the same for Jelly 2 since it's an older phone. Unless you are okay with someone having full access to all your photos and videos, you are only limited to the internal storage when it comes to securing your data. If someone finds your phone, they will have full access to your sd card.
the second chrome icon is in the home row, the other one is a simple app icon in a folder. same app, though. you can change everything. i don't think it's the screen that's cracked, but the glass protector?
I used one of these for a little while. I think it’s cool but just a little too small. I think something like the Galaxy S10e or iPhone 12/13 mini in size are more practical.
I only now came about your video and I really appreciate it. I'm considering a Jelly in 2023 but the new Star version seems weird. Do you still use it? Does it still work?
Slightly larger screen I agree with, but thinner, no. It being thinner would only make the battery even smaller which is not good. I'd rather have a thick phone with good battery life than a thin phone with trash battery life.
Really excellent review with plenty of useful things to know! Just wondering is it possible to create a shortcut in the homescreen to a folder? I noticed I had that limitation with the Jelly Pro.
@@nielsdejong2773 I wasn't able to create a shortcut from any folder in the Files app, but I think they've replaced it with the Google Files app with the Jelly 2.
Hello I would like to know if this phone has 2 sim cards and if the Google map is working normal because i have a Nokia flip and the Google maps doesn't work like a real smartphone. Thank you 🙂
How good does the music sound? I wanna buy this phone so I can stream my Spotify music through an Aux cord, but it’s size does have me wondering if it can push out decent sounding music.
Have you tried to use the phone as a hotspot? I will be needing my phone to operate the hotspot well because I will be tethering it to my desktop, and using it as a phone.
I can confirm it works really good. I worked a whole day on it. On the other hand it will not able to run for instance MS Teams for hours. It will get too hot and will shut down, but for just a short meeting its Okay and all people will stare at you :)

I would say, and I haven’t verified this exactly, that the battery last for about 4 hours of active use. I would say it’s about the same with maps and gps is the program is running and the screen is on
According to other unboxing videos I've watched, the phone comes with a screen protector preinstalled and you get a free case (and one extra screen protector)
I just want a 4" screen with good specs. 4.5" or whatever. Smaller than normal but not tiny. 3"is a bit too small imo. Motorola had it down when they did the Moto X 2nd gen with the contoured back, which fit the hand incredible perfect witha 5.2 screen. But ...... They stopped that model nearly a decade ago. Motorola no longer makes Mid sized compact phones, I dont count the razr flip stuff.
Well, Thanks for the calm and thorough review! Subing to see what this channel will become. Any particular reason you did not get the Atom? Did you manage to fix the spotify widget on the locked screen? Because that's pretty bad for me since I mainly plan to use for spotify and podcasts apps on top of basic phone things. I have an 8" tablet in the bag for when I deliberately want to consume or read things on the internet or interact with people through it.
I got the jelly because it is a newer release and slightly bigger screen. And nope, I still have to open the phone any time I want to use Spotify. sounds like me too. Currently traveling out of country and I use the jelly for day to day stuff and the tablet for research, entertainment etc. when need be I hope you found this video helpful:)
Well actually Jelly Star is better than Jelly 2 hardware and software wise. The only annoying thing with the Jelly Star is its LED at the back to be power consuming along with its power processor compared to Jelly 2. They do said you can throttle the hardware so it won't consume a lot of power so I'm thinking of buying the star as well. The LED seems optional but the design at the back looks awful for my taste compared to Jelly 2. They added that feature so that its easier to get notified with the huge LED blinking and catching your attention. The camera is so bad in Jelly 2 equivalent to Nokia camera quality or a cheap webcam. I'm fine with it but some important stuff like reading QR code takes time and picturing documents. My Jelly 2's fingerprint sensor just stopped working on its own after 2 years now of excessive use. I've barely dropped it at all for the fingerprint to be damaged. It broke out of wear and tear. Not everyone uses fingerprint sensor but its actually a huge plus for a small phone instead of putting pin/password/swipe. People complain about its inaccurate fingerprint but I actually registered 2 fingerprint of the same finger to accurately process it. It's really feels cheap and plastic but with its built-in rubber case its really feels more durable and better. The rubber casing is awful though they get covered with dirt overtime within a year more or less so in my experience there's no way I can get rid of those grimes. Instead of buying the another one of the same type I just bought a third party black case which makes it look better. The volume and power buttons gets stuck after years of use. It's worse than a gaming device wear and tear button Only one button which is the programmable button that never gets stuck for 2 years now. Upon reading Jelly Star reviews, they have better durable buttons than Jelly 2 has to offer. It supports modern android version as well. In my opinion you should buy Jelly Star because you'll just regret not having it after purchasing Jelly 2. When you face direct sunlight, Jelly 2 has its brightness limit. Jelly Star has a higher brightness setting than Jelly 2 if you plan to use a small phone outdoors.

Friend what a great, fair review on only the most pragmatic aspects of this phone!! I’m going to have to think a lot before I divide my carry device from iMessage, but I might miss the form factor enough. I want to recommend a couple things, in case they could improve your experience! Firstly, I began my relationship with unihertz at the same time I was in a period of feverish mala use, along with a bit so stable mind.
