- Max Bruch Violin Concerto No.1 in G minor Op.6
1. Allegro moderato
2. Adagio
3. Finale. Allegro energico
Philharmonia Orchestra
Walter Susskind Conductor
Rec.: 25.VII.1958
Christian Ferras is too often overlooked in the pantheon of great Violinists of the 20th Century. He fought his demons and lost, and so we lost him far too young. This performance is pure luxurious 19th Century Romantic, with just the right amount of schmaltz. Lovely!
Yes!!
Yes!
He was the greatest of them all.
Impossibile ascoltare qualsiasi incisione di Christian Ferras senza sentir brividi da capo a piedi...
The 3rd movement intro with the a scale into the g string slow part is INSANE
Omg yes.
the best violoniste of the world
Thé best os heifetz heifetz
@@mohamedlaminehafsi9859 Heifetz is a perfect engineer who knows every piece of the violin mechanics: Ferras is a saint who knows the soul of the violin as Bible.
@@user-ie2bx2dd7e This is what Karajan said about Ferras. Look at the video of the 2nd mov of Sibelius' concerto and you will cry with him
Always have loved his sound. Used to listen to his recording of the Brahms Concerto-still my favorite. But I’ve never heard his Bruch till now. Wish I had heard it back when I played it.
The Sibelius is my favorite and has been since it came out on LP.
Qué violinista enorme!
Impressionnant.
the man, the myth, the legend
Sombre et sublime. J'aimais beaucoup la version de Nathan Milstein tout en raffinement mais celle de Christian Ferras est irradiante, vivante, intranquille.
My soul was quenched my thirst with his Wonderful performance
Oh, what a treasure for my playlist of "Rarities"! Thank you dear Marie!
Impossible to listen without shedding a tear, since this is the Concerto my dearest Aunt wishes to be remembered by. She is in her 96th year, and thank goodness still alive & kicking. However, the thought of loosing her eventually fills me with sadness already, especially when I hear this wonderful composition by the great Master Max Bruch ...
Big Hug,
Karin
mmbmbmbmb My dear Karin, your tears in eyes are the tears of happines, only your thoughts wandered in another direction. I have often tears in my eyes during hearing of beautiful music and my thoughts wandered to my dear mom who passed away long years ago. Hugs and kisses Marie
HarpsichordM Thank you, dear Marie, for sharing this lovely thought with me. And indeed, it is the overwhelming happiness of having been so enriched by her presence throughout my life. You have found a most beautiful way to 'define' my 'tears'.
Hugs & Kisses back to you ... Karin
mmbmbmbmb I wish you pleasant day, dear Karin ! Hugs and kisses Maria
Excelente ejecución
I heart juste Christian Ferras

op. 26
Violin Concerto No.1 is Bruch's Op.26, not Op. 6!
Just a typographical mistake.
op.26 not op.6
Some intonation faults in this performance. Are some of the people here unable to hear this problem? Little change of tone in the slow passages too.
Yes, I perceive them. But,to be honest, I don't care. I am tired of soulless technically perfect interpretations, Ferras version is plenty of life and he takes risks at every bar. I prefer it.
@@adfontesaquarumi fully agree with you. it has also to be considered that he has such a wonderful sound. Music shall carry feelings, this is the most important and to often it's forgotten.
@@adfontesaquarum Firstly-technically prefect doesn't have to mean soulless....and anyway there are no technically perfect versions. i think would be in the pantheon if he had been a little more careful about various aspects such as tuning.
@@matthewtaylor7725 I meant: there are technically perfect versions which are soulless (I am witness of several of them which, by Christian charity, I will silence their names).
Yes, tuning was not perfect, but he is in my Pantheon.
No. His performance is just perfect.
