I'm a big Max Bruch fan and so happy to have come across this recording. Outstanding! Bruch is so underrated. None of my friends know about him or his name..... Wondering what I should do to promote him?
I think you’re a bit confused by the term, “underrated,” which means, “unappreciated.” What your friends know or don’t know about Max Bruch is completely irrelevant to the rest of the world, OK? This concerto has never been underrated, at all, bc every educated musician or cultured person knows it’s a masterpiece. What you mean is, “not currently known with the current undereducated generation,” which is something else entirely. Every single violinist of note has to have this concerto in his or her repertoire, it is studied, it is performed, and in a UA-cam search I found recordings by every major violinist of the 20th century, and also from the 21st. I know for certain that the majority of Max Bruch’s 200 works are forgotten or rarely performed, except for his gorgeous, “Kol Nidrei,” for cello and orchestra and, “Scottish Fantasy” for violin and orchestra. So, the only way to make him known is to play this music for your friends....if they don’t want to know, find different friends!
His sound is so different from Bell violine, both of them are grate,I just can't choose who I like more,it is just a music from the Haven(if I will believe it is a Haven)
The word that comes to mind is “exquisite,” for the composition and the performance! Then, in the middle of a luscious line, an ad for toe fungus meds cuts in. So, the thumbs down is for the indiscriminate, continual, and highly inappropriate ad placement.
If I Perlman is effectively jewish, M Bruch was not jewish. Not that it matters much but it is a fact. Wiki extract : "The success of Kol Nidrei led to the assumption by many that Bruch was of Jewish ancestry, although the composer refuted this. Indeed, as long as the nazis was in power (1933-1945), performance of his music was restricted because he was considered a possible Jew for having written music with an openly Jewish theme, despite repeated denials by his surviving family. As a result, his music was largely forgotten in German-speaking countries. There is no evidence, however, that Bruch was Jewish. As far as can be ascertained, none of his ancestors was a Jew. Bruch was given the middle name Christian, and was raised a protestant". 🙂

Don't interrupt classical music with advertisements. You invite only contempt for You Tube and the products advertised.
Indeed! It is so annoying to be interrupted in pieces like this one I just heard again! It should be banned altogether!
Just pay for premium . You will not be disturbed
Sometimes UA-cam forcefully puts ad in the video because of copyright, and the channel person actually don’t have any control of that

Wonderful performance. And personally, the 4 great violin concertos in no particular order are Bruch's first, Sibelius, Beethoven, and Brahms'.
I too with the addition of Tchaikovsky and Mendelsshon and Bach for 2 violins.
