Mainly as preventative maintenance I seen on a few of the groups people have had them split and you can't really see what's going on with them until they're full off. I go car camping in the car fairly often and probably go up to Scotland in it and going to very remote places. As I've never paid for break down cover I'll need it to work. I really want to buy a can and covert it but my main gig has really slowed down. I only have 10 days booked in for Jan and Feb so figures crossed I can get some more.

You may also want to change your airfilter and clean the MAF sensor it's easy enough to do. very affordable a regular filter will cost around £10-£20 and a cleaner sprey around £5-£10. I did do a recent video on it actually. I also put in some liqui molly pro diesel cleaner. I seem to get 4mpg more now.

I haven't changed my gear box oil. I will look into it for you. My next planed video is a boat tour, I have the footage just not had the time to put it together. I managed to find work which is very much needed at the moment! My next car video will be front and back breaks along with bleeding the system. I just hit the 150k mark on the car and picked it up at 90k miles and never changed them....I'm a motorway driver mostly so don't really use them often. There's a few conflicting things on the Web about removing the full battery and tray but others say simply lift out the ECU and the filler plug is right there, bit awkward beneath the power steering pipe but manageable. Keep up the good videos, they do help the average DIYer. 👍
Great video. I cleaned my Egr valve and the cars runs perfectly and i get better fuel efficiency.. thanks. Afterwards i started to wounder about whether i should replace with new Gaskets, but i simply cleaned them and put them back on..Any thoughts on this? i also bought a vehicle haynes manual snd noticed there is a torque setting!!!
I'm glad to have helped. If you're planning on doing future jobs, then investing in tools like a Torque wrench would be good. I will be buying one for my next car job, which is changing the breaks. The torque ensures that the unit is flush with the unit. I didn't change the gaskets on mine as they were not damaged. I'm looking to retire the vehicle at around 200,000 miles. Typically, anytime I disconnect any sensors, I disconnect the negative terminal. Majority of people wouldn't bother. I'm just a little extra cautious about shorts. When you do disconnect the battery if you choose to. Then tou will have a code when you reconnect and restart the car. Just undo the windows all the way down, all the way back up and your good. :-) Taking things apart and putting back is fairly straight forward. Took a little while to clean it, simular to a bbq.
2.0 Cdti 2009 insignia. Recently, I used the WD40 degreacer. amzn.to/4eDxrlv That worked pretty well. But you can use things like BBQ cleaner on all of the non electrical parts. Make sure they stay dry!

It may be a simple case that you knocked one of the pipes from the coolant tank. Maybe you could have had a minor leak previously, and you've noticed it as you've been looking around. I understand a common problem for the insignias is the header tank sometimes starts to leak on the joint where it's moulded. I ended up replacing mine (there is a video) I had done a coolant flush and sometimes it's the gunk that clogs the leaks. Perhaps you could try rad weld it's about £7 a bottle. amzn.to/4fLrNzr You pretty much poor it in leave the car running with the AC on hot and full then leave it to cool down then top up any missing coolant. There is a short on my page on how to use it.
There was no gasket when I had removed any of the parts, The exception was a rubber o-ring at the top, this was undamaged so I just cleaned it. Just bought my 1.6cdti, drove it back 300 miles and was sluggish so had a look and they all said map sensor. Needless to say out of the previous vax cars ive owned it was packed, i ended up soaking it then having to slowly and carefully using a pic to break it down as the outside was solid and stright away first and second gear pulls were just a different plantet. The intake manifold are coated in it also but i dont want to take it all apart as ive only just got it. Want to clean the egr and down pipe though as seems simple but the manifold is a diffrent story so tempted to ask my brother (mechanic) to check and replace proberly. Do you thing the intake manifold is realistic to clean or just buy new ? That goes for the egr and down pipe as well, if the car is pretty filled is it worth just getting new ?
As your brother is a mechanic, I would ask him. Maybe for a beer, Real wealth is not money but friends, family, experience and relationships he will help you out ;-) He may also have a scan tool to see if there is anything wrong with the car. Mine is also similar with the gunk inside, and for me, I'm trying to keep the car going while I'm saving for a van. Which means taking on minor jobs to keep it going. Mainly due to the clean air zone stuff. I'm working in London zone 1 and staying in zone 3. Each day I'll be hit with the ulez zone and Sunday when I'm working in zone 1 the congestion. So it's going to be an expensive weekend at work! I don't always working in London but I do frequently work in Birmingham and Bristol. Which have similar things. Thank you.
