    If anyone is looking at these two cameras, the G85 just went on sale with a full kit. Great deal for $900, several lenses, Rode VideoMicro, backpack, tripod, etc. I'm not sure how long it will last. amzn.to/2D41emE

    I have both of these cameras and bought the G85 about 6 months ago and I was very happy with the upgrade in stabilization and unlimited recording time and I really like the 4k live cropping feature! The 4k footage from both is very good but I only go outside with the G85 to shoot landscape or wildlife photos since upgrading to it.

    I just ordered a G85. I switched to Micro Four Thirds when the Olympus PM1 was available. I had used Olympus in the past, but switched to the digital rebel cameras when digital became the norm. I have stayed loyal to the the Olympus brand because I'm mainly a photographer, but I have just ordered a G85 to learn how to shoot video. I thank you put putting this comparison on UA-cam. I'm probably going to fumble my way through the learning process, but I think this video confirms I have made the right choice .

    Great video! I have the G7. Just got it at the beginning of this month and have filmed and uploaded my last 3 videos in 4k to my channel so far. All i have is the 14-42mm kit lens. But it has been doing a great job. With all that being said. My plan is to return it and upgrade to the G85 because I really want IBIS and the weather sealing would be nice. In my last VLOG I just uploaded I went hiking through the snow to some hot springs and I dropped my camera in the snow a few times lol.

    • @foXnoMad
      @foXnoMad  6 років тому

      Thank you - for stabilization I guess it's what you're shooting most often. It's a noticeable improvement in the G85 but not a deal breaker in my opinion for the G7, if you don't want to pay the $300+ extra for the G85.

  • @mixedplate185
    @mixedplate185 6 років тому +2

    Great video! Good humor and sound! You mentioned the comparison with the Sony rx100 line. I was wondering, besides the short 4k time, you had any other thoughts on the rx100 vs the g85 in terms of overall video quality
    I have an rx100 v and am looking to get an interchangeable lens system to get steadier video

    • @foXnoMad
      @foXnoMad  6 років тому +1

      Thanks!
      Having a choice of lenses is a big benefit to the G85 - so you've got some room to expand and improve quality there. Stabilization is also better on the G85 (both in body and lens selection); plus the sensor is bigger. I prefer the G85 low light footage as well to the RX100V. But you can get great shots with both overall, but the portability of the Sony comes with big price: the 4K ~5 minute limit as you mention. It's a deal-breaker for me.

    well, it works I got mine at a good deal, on eBay; I had to buy it the Panasonic Lumix G7 Mirrorless Camera with 14-42mm Lens and Accessories Kit (Black); I got this device on 7-22-23; right; from the start it works that's all I can say sir-mam furthermore, I was going to get the G85, G95 by Lumix; but the G7 was my first choice in the beginning search for a camera; so went back to the G7; based on its not that much major difference in those cameras; the image quality (sensors) is excellent, good; the kit lens, well it was little better that I thought it was going to be however; I'm still looking for a prime lens; certain 1 star reviews were good, before I had bought it and the UA-cam videos are good tips; I dry run some videos in the Windy City of Ill, and it works real good; but the flash for taking pictures, as so stated in videos is tricky to turn on, and off; and the Wi-fi so far is not working on it in terms of details; again the camera works; good; that's all can say sir-mam for right now; I'm still dry running it; another good thing that was a surprise the audio sound is good; but the thing is its so sensitive that it picks up the clicking sound of the camera adjustment, like the clicking of the shutter etc; I recommend buy the it the device is good; yea; sir-mam; I tell you something else to sir-mam; the battery life is good to

    • @foXnoMad
      @foXnoMad  6 років тому

      The stock lens on both - the G85: 12-60mm Panasonic lens, the G7: 14-42mm.

    Nice vid, but that FUNKY and LOUD music. I'm staying with G7 cos half the price. And I shoot mainly stills. If I really needed professional video, I'd buy GH4 or GH5(used).

    G85 is better hands down. Stabilization makes it worth it alone. IDK wtf is up with the G7 but even lens stabilization sucks on it.

  • @ProSimRacing
    @ProSimRacing 5 років тому

    Nice video buddy, except for when you blow my ears out with the added sound effects. You really need to normalize your sound levels across the entire video, most people view UA-cam videos on their mobile with headphones these days, and this video was very annoying to listen to. I had to raise the volume to hear you speak, then I will get blasted with one of your sound effects.
    You make great content, keep up the great work, just be aware of your audio levels.

    • @foXnoMad
      @foXnoMad  5 років тому

      Thanks, I appreciate it. I've learned a lot from the comments in this and other videos I made around then, there's definitely been an improvement in the latest videos.

    • @ProSimRacing
      @ProSimRacing 5 років тому

      That's the way to do it buddy. We're only human, and we will all make our own mistakes in this UA-cam journey, "trust me, I've made my fair share". The main thing is to strive towards perfection and keep on going. You make great content, I've been a subscriber for a pretty long time now, but with another account under my real name. Anyway, talk to you later bro.

    I want to shoot all day long with g7. Is the battery life really poor?

    • @foXnoMad
      @foXnoMad  6 років тому

      Battery life on both cameras is very good - but if you're going to shoot more than ~45-60 minutes of video or 500+ photos in one go, you should get a few spare batteries. The G7 kit linked above comes with two batteries, for example.

    I thought the G7 has a limit on 4k video at 30 mins and the G80/85 doesn't.... has Panasonic changed this?

    • @foXnoMad
      @foXnoMad  6 років тому +2

      No, there's still a software enforced time limit but if you check the video description above, there's a hack to unlock unlimited recording on the G7.

    • @Monkiimagic
      @Monkiimagic 6 років тому +1

      Ah cool, I wondered if there was a way around it, thanks.

    • @Monkiimagic
      @Monkiimagic 6 років тому +1

      I think for me after a lot of looking I am leaning towards the G80/85 for the image stabilisation...

    • @foXnoMad
      @foXnoMad  6 років тому +1

      It's a nice feature to have. If you're not in a rush, I would wait a few weeks, I've seen the G80/85 kit drop to $500. At that price, it's an obvious choice over the G7.
