Im not seeing getting back to Blender anytime soon tbh. I use 3ds Max for modeling and minor rigging and animations, Maya for animation, rigging and grooming (hair, feather, fur), ZBrush for sculpting, Marvelous Designer for clothing and so on. Blender still has a long way to go although its really good, not gonna lie considering that it is freeware. We will see where the industry will be in a couple of years. As indies we at least get to use what we see fitting in unless we want to make sure that our portfolio is attractive enough for future job in the established studios for example where 3ds Max and Maya are mostly the software of choice for the workflow.
If you compare just 3d Modeling between 3ds and blender, what are your points on saying max is better than blender? (i'm a maya user thinking on going to blender and want some things pointed out)
Awesome video, I'm a firefighter that does 3D stuff in my free time (Not trying to become professional just a hobbyist). I also use Blender and just bought 3D coat for the same exact type of workflow you mentioned. Also invested in Liquigen and EmberGen for water and fire/smoke simulations.
This was in no way to belittle blender users. I came from a perspective where maya users will wait until they are old or fired before they realise the potential of Blender.
I've been a Maya user for 15 years as an Indie user. Honestly, most of the stuff I do is now totally doable on Blender. I have never liked Maya for animating, always bogs down especially with mocap data. For this on regular aniamtion, I have always used MoBu. Now there's Cascaduer and the physics engine seems better than MoBu. So now, I continue to use Maya, but given the massive expense and all the catch-up blender has already done, looking hard at making a permanent switch. However, this old dog is not looking forward to learning yet another piece of software.
I know this is unrelated but give the Quran a read, blender is certainly going to be the industry standard in the next 5 years especialy of how fast is the developpment going

Yes 3dsmax is non des.. Modeling software. But blender has so much destruction. Blender will never be industry standard.

It's kind of cool imagining a firefighter doing 3D fire/smoke simulations in their spare time as a hobby!
@The3Dsmash well we get a decent amount of down time so might as well learn something cool!
It's hard to give up 3ds Max.
Blender is best choice for fired or retired Autodesk user- made me chuckle a bit. Hey, even if they join the team late, at-least they joinin.

Blender is the best choice.

You don't have to use Blender or Maya. You have to use Blender and Maya. Otherwise you aren't a good 3d professional.
Great explanation thanks a lot man
Blendaa!
Sometimes I missed Maya Fatal Error :)
You have to buy a new pc. The problem is not from Maya. It’s your hardware.
Or use every software and not spend a cent, If you know you know
