You’ll find this 1969 version of ‘She’s Not There’ on the CD compilation ‘Into The Afterlife’ by The Zombies. Opening track, in fact. Also contains other songs Colin Blunstone recorded under the name Neil MacArthur.
Just enter Neil Macaurthur in the search box and it pops up - his only song on Spotify. I am playing it right now on spotify and have added it to one of my favourites.
Lyrics No one told me about her The way she lied Well, no one told me about her How many people cried Well, it's too late to say you're sorry How would I know, why should I care Please don't bother trying to find her She's not there, oh oh oh Nobody told me about her What could I do Well, nobody told me about her Though they all knew Well, it's too late to say you're sorry How would I know, why should I care Please don't bother trying to find her She's not there Let me tell you about the way she looked The way she acted, the color of her hair Her voice is soft and cool Her eyes are clear and bright But she's not there Well, it's too late to say you're sorry How would I know, why should I care Please don't bother trying to find her She's not there, oh oh oh Well, let me tell you about the way she looked The way she acted, the color of her hair Her voice is soft and cool Her eyes are clear and bright But she's not there
Brilliant song ,loved the zombies earlier version and love this more heavier pyscadelic guitar sounding version too ,the 60s was the best time ever ,everything since then is imitation.
When I first heard this on The Crown, I wondered if it was NIck Drake as it sounded like his voice, but thanks to a very helpful comment on Tunefind it led me here. Great version!
Absolutely the definitive version. As well as the amazing arrangement and vocal, there are no too loud / off key Rod Argent backing vocals! Argent was a brilliant songwriter and keyboard player but his backing vocals were painful.
I certainly do like this song which is done a bit differently than the Zombies. It starts out like a Folk Rock Song but changes through the course of the song. When it gets to the part of the flute it sounds like it has a bit of Jethro Tull in it. It's a great song because the main principle was followed here. When one covers someone else's material than you need to make it your own. This is fantastic indeed.
This is like the movie Images, 1972. Don't know who is who. About halfway through the song I was feeling sorry for Neil M., who didn't have a big hit with this song, but had just as good a voice, maybe better than Colin, and got just as good as sound on his cover. But before this I listened to this version of the song as background on another video and thought it WAS Colin, who else?
great version.. checked on Spotify, iTunes and Amazon.. can't find it, only versions that sound similar but missing that little acoustic rift in the middle of the song . how can I get this version on digital?
same singer, very similar voice, but i prefer this version to the zombies original, with its cultred psychedia and what sounds like a mike hurst production. i always remember this on the lulu show with her in an outdoor sequence in a mysterious cloak, emerging from behind trees.
Here we go again, 'X' brought me here, 'Y' brought me here, etc, etc, etc or whatever - Yawn!!!!!!!!! Listening to my dad's records and loving that whole era he grew up in brought me here.
My dad's taste in music brought me here rather than some Millennial tv show, film or whatever. Yes I am a boomer and I am proud, better than being part of the snowflake generation.

I can't find it😔
S3 E10~ The Crown. I’ve never heard this version before. So, so cool 😎 🎸
This version is in a slightly lower key than the original and that's just such a lovely change. Great tune!
There’s just something magical happening in the chorus when his voice meets that orchestra. It fits together like a glove. It creates emotions. WOW!
One of the best voices of all time
This is, to my mind, THE recording of this song. Simply wonderfull atmosphere :)
Lyrics
No one told me about her
The way she lied
Well, no one told me about her
How many people cried
Well, it's too late to say you're sorry
How would I know, why should I care
Please don't bother trying to find her
She's not there, oh oh oh
Nobody told me about her
What could I do
Well, nobody told me about her
Though they all knew
Well, it's too late to say you're sorry
How would I know, why should I care
Please don't bother trying to find her
She's not there
Let me tell you about the way she looked
The way she acted, the color of her hair
Her voice is soft and cool
Her eyes are clear and bright
But she's not there
Well, it's too late to say you're sorry
How would I know, why should I care
Please don't bother trying to find her
She's not there, oh oh oh
Well, let me tell you about the way she looked
The way she acted, the color of her hair
Her voice is soft and cool
Her eyes are clear and bright
But she's not there
Neil aka Colin, fantastic song.
thanks Margaret for the song 😍
Thank you crown for choosing this. Would never have known about it otherwise.
The radio in my head brought me here. Haven't heard this song in, hell, I don't know how long bit I woke up with it in my playing head
Brilliant song ,loved the zombies earlier version and love this more heavier pyscadelic guitar sounding version too ,the 60s was the best time ever ,everything since then is imitation.
Heard this today on the 60's show on Radio 2. Great track which would not be out of place on the radio with todays music.
thanks Margaret!!!!!!!
I fully agree, thank you Margaret !
Always thought Zombies version ahead of its time & this is superb...love it!
When I first heard this on The Crown, I wondered if it was NIck Drake as it sounded like his voice, but thanks to a very helpful comment on Tunefind it led me here. Great version!
Love it!!
it his voice , listeners love
In the 90's, I had a remix of this song, dance 90's style. Now The Crown reminded me of this song and found this classic style, perhaps original.
The Crown
Groovy

Why the hell does this version have so little views?
Because it hasn't been in some lame video game, tv show, movie or "sample"......yet.
@@dang2443 It was on The Crown season 3 finale
The crown says otherwise
@@santiagobauza4257 CorrectIon: apparently it was now on some lame TV show, and every loser has come here to let us know. How trite.
I’m doing my part, comrade.
Saw the Zombies tonight just superb. This is a fantastic version, sounds like john Paul Jones on Bass too I wonder if it is?
In my Zombies playlist with a stereo mix of the original and the cover by Santana. Thanks for the upload!
Love this!!

Different version, but same singer.
It's not actually "someone else's." The original singer using an alias;) . But I agree. Fantastic Version
Thought he looked similar 😂
@@rwthomasify thank you, I thought it sounded different, don't remember the orchestration being there before
Flute is more like traffic than Jethro tull
Neil MacArthur was actually Colin Blunstone the lead singer on the Zombies, I think. 🧐

The opening of this song sounds like the opening from Duran Duran's Rio.
I love this one

Colin Blunstone under a different name. Great version.
How many years after the Zombies' version did this come out?
about 6
5 years on from the original. Check out the B-Side World Of Glass.
