I only speak for myself and have nothing against Livia at all. That being said at the height of my ED I would watch her videos to validate that what I was doing wasn’t unhealthy (it was) I would also watch cheat day videos obsessively because I was malnourished and food was all I thought about. Her calorie counting, low carb food and obsessiveness is very triggering for me personally. Thanks for another great video Abbey!

I think people who do that are either just trying to get views on UA-cam or maybe have a binge eating disorder

The point where she brought a “nutritionist” on to justify her disordered habits and make them seem healthy, and then got him to trash anyone who might have a problem with that as being a “jealous hater,” was the day I stopped seeing her as someone who was misguided but nice. I always felt this about Stephanie Buttermore, before she became open about needing to change her relationship with food. She would also do massive cheat days, then claim to “intuitively” eat cauliflower rice and egg whites on other days- ie severely restrict while claiming to have “balance”.

@@seerpou She did restrict pretty strictly, she just never documented it. She posted a few what I eat in a day videos and most of them rounded up to 1800 calories, which is good for most people. But then she admitted in her year long recap that when was competing in body building competitions she tried to hold onto her extremely lean physique longer than needed which I would have to guess would be around 900-1200 calories. And for the amount of weight lifting she did with that, that's dangerously low.

This is a common theme with fitness influencers and was part of a “guide” I used when my orthorexia was at its worst. I would see these really fit and toned people that I wanted to look like and copy their eating patterns: extremely restrictive during the week and basically bingeing junk food on the weekends. Which, personally for me, was not healthy mentally or physically for me. Nothing wrong if this works for some people, but when watching videos like this, especially as a younger girl, it’s easy to be influenced into these habits and can cause serious issues with food down the line.

I used to watch her videos a lot back when I was struggling with orthorexic thoughts and behaviors. It sort of made me feel like I was 'eating' the foods i wouldn't allow myself (wich is kinda weird). After a while I had to stop though, since I realized her behavior wasn't healthy and there was just something about her normal 'what i eat in a day' videos and her cheat days that made me feel uncomfortable and didn't sit right with me.
I wish her all the best ✨

When I was losing weight, I ate healthily (balance of fruits and veg, lean protein, and stuff like that), I had Doughnut Thursday to keep myself on track until the end of the week, and then maybe had some extra carbs or a non-fruit dessert on the weekend. If I wanted, I would do “burgers and beers” with a friend one evening during the week instead of a doughnut on Thursday. It ended up being half a burger and a half pint of beer. It worked really well for me! I have ocd, so it was really helpful for me to have a really standard routine for my treats.

I bet she would feel much better and less hungry if she divided her cheat day calories, evenly through the week. Rather than eating 1600 cals per day 6 days per week and 10,000 cals on a cheat day, she could eat 2800 cals per day everyday. The 'balancing' cheat days with restrictive days, is still a very disordered behavior. Her ability to eat so much in one day, suggests that she's still in a state of starvation.

I had to stop watching her as I found her videos sad and triggering - she so clearly still has an eating disorder, it's just a different eating disorder. The cheat days are crazy, no one would be able to eat that much unless they had an eating disorder (binge eating or bulimia). Even during my worst periods of bulimia I couldn't eat more than 4000, and even then I'd feel so horribly uncomfortable and wouldn't be enjoying the food after a certain point, I just felt a compulsion to keep eating with no control. She must restrict & over exercise to counteract the effects of the cheat days (she's really tiny), I doubt the 1400-1600 is something she does daily and even this is too little considering she works out. She seems like such a sweet girl I hope she can fully recover one day.

Today, you’ve given me peace of mind with eating normal meals and snacks at appropriate times. I think a lot of us need to hear these messages right now. I know it’s been tough for me to not double down on my orthorexic tendencies out of fear. Last year, Erik's 100,000 calorie challenge popped up in my recommended over and over again until I eventually watched it. If I remember correctly, his goal was to eat 100,000 calories in 100 hours; it's doesn't seem like an attainable goal without the magic of editing, but he did eat enough to appear pretty unwell. Even though I'm recovered from an ED, seeing him sick was difficult to watch, and it just makes me wonder why eating past making yourself sick is thought of as something healthier than anorexia in some people's minds.

As someone who's recovered, I thought it was worth mentioning that after I began eating as much as I wanted, my hunger cues gradually died down. There's still times where I get overly fixated on a particular food (like chips or icecream) so I may overeat them a bit, but after doing so, I find that I no longer have that craving. So if you're also recovering, I encourage you to trust your body and your hunger cues. Don't restrict during the week and binge on the weekends but eat what you want EVERYDAY, and eventually you will eat regularly and intuitively because like Abbey said you won't have that "last supper" mentality.
If you're struggling with binging in recovery like I once did, I also encourage frequent snacks and meals :) For the past 2 years since I've recovered I've had 3 meals (with dessert sometimes depending on my mood) and a snack at 3:30pm and another at 8:30pm. It's kind of become habit at this point and the snacks always vary. Some days I feel like chocolate, other days I actually naturally crave a banana with pb - it's really amazing what your body can do when you listen to it - it knows what's best

It felt like I was controlling my food with these rules about eating next to nothing all day and then LOADS at the end of the day, but the food still had control over me. Livia is working her way through her relationship with food and I'm sure she'll get to a more balanced and intuitive place in time, as recovery can be a life long process and requires strength and resilience to get through! It sounds like her ED behaviors changed from Anorexia nervosa-r (restricting subtype) to EDNOS or Anorexia nervosa-bp(binge-purge subtype) behaviors of restricting, binging, and possible over excersising to compensate the extra calories from binging. Her "cheat days" is a label to try to mask the fact that they are binges. In a way, her disordered behaviors are worse now than when she "had" an ED.

Things didn't end so good, as I lost my period for three months. Looking at this now, it really make me realise HOW crazy this way of eating, restricting, binging is... So sorry for her and hope she soon starts her Intuitive eating journey!

Can I ask why you choose to use a natural deodorant? I’m curious because I know you love science-based information, and natural cosmetics aren’t necessarily better for you (as someone with sensitive skin, I steer clear of natural products) and aluminum gets a bad rep. I’m no expert at all, but I love cosmetics and so I’m curious if you have a reason for choosing a natural deodorant. 😊

I can't speak for everyone, but I ended up with hidradenitis suppurativa a few years ago (harmless and common, but ow) from using conventional antiperspirant deodorant because it was clogging my sweat glands. Also, some people are just allergic to antiperspirant. Not speaking for Abbey, just providing some insight as to why some people avoid the conventional stuff! ♥️

Trying to impress on someone the reality of their evolved ED is really difficult.
Have a friend who is somewhat recovered but still decided to lose weight while doing hardcore lifting to get rid of that "extra pudge" around the lower stomach...yaknow. where the womb is 😐
Logic doesn't always work on disorders like that no matter how much we wish they would.

Thank you Abbey for this amazing review. It was so nice that you were so kind to Livia, she’s such a sweet soul, and as I suffered myself with disorder eating it really takes a LOT OF time to heal and start to make good decisions for your health. I remember that I didn’t care at all about my insides and the only thing that mattered was the supermodel body. 😔 Can’t say that I still don’t wanna have the perfect body (clearly cause I’m so insecure and I don’t think I worth anything without it), but I want you to know that I watch again and again your videos about intuitive eating and they help me so so much. Thank you so much for all this free information.

I feel bad for this girl. She reminds me of myself a few years ago at the height of my ED not even realizing it & thinking I was being “healthy”. I'm very small (155cm, 48kilos - just to give a frame of reference, not to reinforce that anyone has to be or should be my size) and even I don't eat just 1400-1600 calories. I've been on diets before that restricted me to that and it was NOT good. I also used to use the same excuse that I "just don't have time" to eat a proper breakfast and lunch. My eating was so disordered back then, my relationship with my body was messed up, and this type of eating triggered some binges. I'm not claiming that this is exactly what is going on for Olivia, but it reminds me so much of my former self, I really feel for her. I hope she can find a balanced way to eat and live a happy, healthy, life.
