I am very strict about food combining too. I always have ice cream with pie, fries with my veggie burger, jam with peanut butter. It's all about discipline people.
I went to high school with Maggie and she was the definition of a mean girl. I am sure that she has changed since then but I must admit that it was nice seeing someone put her in her place, even if it was just about food.
Ironically I can see her being that kind of person who was mean. As someone who was bullied in elementary school, I can tell the rude ones from the good ones.
I am a mental health therapist who focuses on eating disorders. When I saw this “diet” going around I reached out to Maggie as well as a couple of other at the head of it. I was blocked and told off. The idea of food combining is so unhealthy and I really wish UA-cam would monitor content creators sharing disordered eating like Maggie.
well, youtube can't restrict freedom of speech. That's why it's important for people, like Abbey, who have the knowledge to share that knowledge and help more vulnerable audiences avoid unhealthy behaviors like this.
@@wtrtowine I'm sure she's a super sweet amazing person who's only trying to spread positivity, but if you watched this video you'd see she's obviously not eating intuitively and very restricted. It could be triggering for those who struggle with food.
@@CelinaYTChannel I agree! I actually have experience with this. Last year, while recovering from ed, I saw her videos and tried food combining, which ending up drawing me back into my eating disorder mentality. It isn't healthy or good to promote, even if she isn't aware of the harm that she is doing.
I like how you said “We eat for health but we also eat for satisfaction” I used to have unhealthy eating habits like this influencer where it becomes obsessive. You’ve helped me have a healthier relationship with food. Life is all about balance! Thank you!
@@ianweasly5366 I know this comment is 3 years old, but this video is sponsored by square space? The only "supplement" I've seen her be sponsored by is Ritual and that's a simple multi vitamin.
🙋 sweet cheese croissant over here and I'm not even hungry 🤣🤣🤣 I just was getting so mad about Dr. Dray's "what I eat" and this one I had to do something gluttonous.
She says "you easily pronounce everything". I swear if I hear that stupid statement one more time I am going to scream! Dihydrogenmonoxide is simply water but I'm betting if they called it that on a package label she would be bypassing it. Also - lye is a very simple word and easy to say but I sure as heck wouldn't want anybody to drink it.
That is a pet peeve of mine as well. Many people who promote "clean" eating say that, and I roll my eyes every time. That philosophy leads some into being afraid of words that LOOK intimidating, like ergocalciferol in almond or soy milk - which is just another name for vitamin D2. It's so frustrating.
As a chem student this is so frustrating to me ugh!!! Even just vitamin C is L ascorbic acid which can sounds kinda worrying but guess what! Bananas are not made of "banana atoms". There are chemicals. Everything is a chemical. Arsenic is totally natural and an element occurring in nature, but you don't want any of that in your food! Smh
Before Maggie and her sister started getting into food combining I followed them but unfortunately I just feel that the information they are sharing is so damaging. I really have a problem with all the influencers with no formal training telling people what they should do with their bodies to be "healthy"
I get the idea behind the "can you pronounce everything on the label" method, but I just pulled out my pint of Ben and Jerry's and I could pronounce everything without the tricks I learned in organic chem.
I also had to unfollow Maggie after being a longtime subscriber. She has just gotten so unrelatable and seems to be misinformed most of the time. Thank you for this video it was definitely educating ¨̮
To me, if someone is SO concerned with digestion and pointing out how sensitive the gut system is, adding half a bottle of hot sauce on every slice of toast just doesn't add up to me. If you like it: go for it! But don't promote your disordered food rules to a young influenciable audience that might actually believe this internally inconsistent "lifestyle". oh boy, these youtubers keep you busy, Abbey lol
Yes!! So true! I was in eating disorder treatment a few years ago and hot sauce was banned as well. Definitely an easy way to make nothing taste like something 😕
@@myhauntingromance I'm trying to eat breakfast regularly. I love soft boiled eggs and squashed avocado and a toast. But sometimes I wake up and I'm not hungry
my sister was a big believer in food combining & often would not consume enough calories or nutrition, she was 5'2 98 lbs, my sister fell ill with pneumonia. While in the hospital they did a lot of blood work & my sister was deficient in so many vitamins and minerals, the doctors told us her body was going to have a difficult time fighting the pneumonia because of this & lacking nutrition caused a weakened immune system. My sister passed away at age 28...I know her not eating properly contributed to her early demise. Thank you Abbey for the informative videos
Food combining gurus: "traffic jam" The human body, which has evolved during thousands of years to have very specific enzymes that break very specific types of foods and can't break others to make everything efficient and with a purpose: am I a joke to You?
She’s probably tired because she isn’t getting any nutrients 🤷🏽♀️ and her lack of protein, fats and basically everything else is probably attributing to that.
All I know is she may be tired because she's either very constipated or shitting a lot because her fiber intake is insanely high, but also she takes all those supplements and I've had to use some of them before under doctor recommendations so I can only imagine her poor stomach it has to be killing her energy levels.
Something about Maggie's voice makes me just grind my teeth. She seems really... I'm trying to be nice... Just disingenuous. Kinda fake and incredibly privileged. The amount of money her "diet" costs is ridiculous and seems more about status and attention than enjoyment of food. This silly food combining nonsense aside, her entire persona strikes me as just a mask. I adore Abbey because she just seems real and non judgemental. I lost 110 pounds and for so long insisted on eating "clean". Allowing myself to loosen up and eat what tasted good and what my body craved, when it was protein, fruit, and starches, and FAT. I had PIZZA for the first time in 6 months, and it was awesome. I don't want to live my life constantly on a diet. I also only regained 10 pounds of the 110 I lost, and my weight has stayed there for 2 years. I refuse to fear food anymore.
Omg, thank you! 🥰 I'm so excited you responded!🤩 I absolutely love your videos, they are pure motivation for a more balanced diet. Even before finding your chanel I was trying to eat healthier, but our diet was really restrictive. With your advices we are almost there 😅
No we don’t! Don’t trust Abbey, she cut out the part where” Healthy crazy fool” ate fruit to push her agenda, she is just trying to sell you supplements
I mean Maggie is the girl who brought an entire cooler full of food to her boyfriends house for one night becuase she couldn’t guarantee her boyfriend had healthy food for her for one day.
That’s such an unhealthy mindset. How are you supposed to live your life when all you care about is whether or not it will be “healthy” for you. If I hang out with my boyfriend or stay with his family for a few days, I’m gonna let myself live a little and that’s HEALTHY.
I just wanted to point out that her "Ice cream" was a Pressed Juicery Freeze which is a vegan soft serve made out of water, dates, and almonds. If she actually enjoys these that's great but considering her habits of sticking with "clean" foods my guess is she probably considers it a "safe" treat.
As someone who followed food combining for over a year and recently stopped I have to say nothing in my digestion has changed except now I can eat the forbidden pb and apple combo
Literally same! Especially coming from a disordered eating past, her videos were super triggering and full of misinformation. I just hope that it didn’t trigger other people and that they aren’t falling for it!!
LOVE THIS VIDEO! I had to unsubscribe from Maggie bc she talks about food in such a disordered way. She refers to everything she eats as "clean" and it makes no sense. Thank you for this informative video!
"The kidneys and liver do ALL the cleansing / detoxing the body needs. Save your money!" Seeing all the skinny detox teas out there kill me.. so thank you for that. This needs to be heard loud and clear.
lol when you said "please let their be some tofu in the next day" i laughed, because maggie and her sister are known for talking about how "bad" tofu is for you because of soy. they have absolutely no nutritional knowledge whatsoever and this twisted mindset has got to go. so many girls have fallen into a disordered eating trap because of food combining.
soy actually isnt great for you if youre not careful about it💛 i dont agree with the majority of these girls’ food rules, but there are major downsides to soy consumption because it can screw with hormones!!! moderation is important
soy really isn’t good for you, especially if you have a history of hormonal breast cancer... but there are other incredible foods rich in protein and that are not as processed
For those who may think soy is bad for you... knock it off! But seriously, there are many, many, many, MANY resources available which do not support this statement. Additionally, pay close attention to claims that state it IS bad for you; who was the trial conducted on? Is the consumption of soy/soy components necessary AND sufficient (meaning, is only soy needed to produce the effects stated?)? Is there a consumption threshold required for the effects to take place? Here are some studies I found (Google Scholar is a great resource for credible, institutionally backed/regulated research): 1. ehp.niehs.nih.gov/doi/abs/10.1289/ehp.02110s3349 2. cebp.aacrjournals.org/content/7/12/1101.short 3. www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0378512218305553 4. www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/07315724.2001.10719168 5. www.ijhsr.org/IJHSR_Vol.9_Issue.9_Sep2019/IJHSR_Abstract.023.html Simply put, there is a chance that soy *could* have an impact in *some* demographics (for example, the research done on postmenopausal women shows that phytoestrogens provided by soy, AKA the isoflavones mentioned in some of the links above, may have a stronger effect than premenopausal women). However, with human biology, metabolism, and physiology, there is rarely a blanket statement available for the general population. Listen to registered medical professionals, not your aunt Marcie or your UA-cam recommended. Honestly, don't even listen to me. Listen to, read the material of, and consult EXPERTS.
havent even watched yet and im so excited. the macdonald girls have such a twisted mindset surrounding food + exercise and the amount of impressionable young girls that follow them and look up to them is so so sad
Abbey is such a positive influence in terms of being healthy and has made me feel so much better about how I eat and how to change to better suit my body’s needs 💕
I used to love her channel, but I feel like she's just so obsessed with being trendy now. Not to mention, it seems like she has no idea what protein is !!
They both make me feel so bad about what I eat.. even though I eat healthy and balanced. I’m 14 so I bet other girls my age compare themselves to them to...
I am glad both you of are recognizing this so early, it can be so hard to not compare yourself but just remember to be yourself, people love you for you and not for surface level things
Victoria Alice I’ve messed up my hormones and everything like that by giving into diet culture.. but I’m expanding my knowledge and I’m trying to get my poor body back to growing and functioning properly. Thank you for your reply :)
I’m so glad you reviewed her. Also, the comment made about how she always adds spice on her food (hot sauce, chili flakes) is very real. Iv always felt like she did this for weight loss purposes rather than taste..
Thank you for doing this! Maggie and her sister have a lot of influence as their audience is primarily young girls, and I've found that their food videos specifically can sometimes offer misleading information and be triggering for some. I love, love, love that you use your platform for such good
So glad to see this video. I developed major relationship issues with food after watching influencers like this. This diet seems so restrictive- I could never.
Can I tell you that your videos helped my relationship with food a lot? I've been eating intuitevely for 2 months and my weight has stabilised. Sometimes when i have a meal i imagine your voice saying "Good balance of healthy fats, protein and carbs etc" haha. I used to be afraid of foods like avocados and nuts.. yesterday i bought 2 avocados and today i put some nuts in my yoghurt. I feel so satisfied after meals now! I don't constantly fear about how i will make a filling meal with minumum calories, but its health benefits and taste.

@@ianweasly5366 why do you keep commenting this?? What's your problem?? I watch her channel all the time and have never seen a supplement advertisement. That's literally a such a small mistake. i used to watch her videos and i tried doing food combining and found that my negative thoughts about food started to appear again and i was so hyper fixated that i forgot to enjoy my meals. i stopped and started intuitively eating again and i’m so glad i did.
I always got a weird “bratty”, “I’m trying to be perfect” vibe from her. I find myself not able to watch her videos anymore just because the way she talks about things and shoves all of these “healthy” things she believes in in our face.. I just feel like she tries way too hard to make her life seem perfect and put together.. I don’t know
What drives Abbey mad the most? a) food combining b) alcaline vs acidic foods c) "anti-bloating"/"detox" plans 😂 P.s. I'm genuinely so grateful for your knowledge and humour, sending love
What's funny about labeling is that there are many possible ingredients that don't have to be listed on those food labels that she wouldn't be able to pronounce. LOL! (I work in labeling regulations for context)
Some examples of ingredients you don't have to list include traces, incidentals (also called incidental additives), and proprietary seasonings/flavorings. In general, all of these things are just the normal ingredients you would see on labels (including scary big words). To explain more: 1. Small quantities, this includes very small traces like produce pesticides, heavy metals (like lead), and chemical cleaning residue from machinery. Also, sometimes, when using a blend of ingredients, an ingredient from the blend will end up being so little of the final recipe it can be excluded from the listing. 2. Intended for a single ingredient but not the final product (ex. preservative used in storing one ingredient, but not intended as a preservative in the final product) 3. Legally allowed to protect their flavorings. Also if you're a "small business" in the US, defined as producing less than 100,000 pieces a year and having less than 50 employees (if I remember correctly), you get to leave off even more.
My mom, who is a doctor and obviously went to medical school for years, once saw me watching her video and heard her taking about her diet and her reasons why. My mom freaked out and said she would pray no young girls are watching and believing in her because 95% of what she says is extremely wrong unless you have a type of illness in which case you and your medical professionals would know (and no Maggie and Emma the bloating you describe is not as serious as you might think). Also both girls suffers from really bad skin time to time even though they’re “healthy” in which case my mom told me it’s most likely because they don’t get enough (healthy) animal protein and animal fat (many young plant based girls suffers from this she said!!!). And before all the Maggie, Emma and Kenzie fans come for me: who the heck do you believe the most? The woman who do surgery on you or Kenzie and Maggie from UA-cam? lol
Very happy you wrote this! My cousin followed their eating habits and no she didn’t loose any weight but she lost her period and got the worse acne I’ve ever seen. She spoke to a doctor recently and he told her exactly what your mom said too! She’s currently working on getting her period back!
First of all there is no healthy animal proteins and fat. Healthy fats come from plants. And about the acne, it's actually more common to heal your acne being more plant based. We aren't talking about eating just fruits or potatoes here. We are talking about a balanced whole food plant based diet. My acne is gone, and I haven't touched animal fat in 4 years. And this isn't an isolated incident, you can do your own exploring on people's acne journey here on UA-cam yourself. Just because you mom is a doctor doesn't mean she's qualified to give extensive nutrition advice. Not to shade your mom of discredit her, but she doesn't have anywhere near the amount of nutrition training as a registered dietitian, so for the most part it's safer and more credible to listen to a professional who has taken up years of nutrition study.
I've always been so confused when Maggie talks about something that's her favorite food and her reasoning for it being good is because of its "clean ingredients" like my favorite foods are ones that taste the best lol
I have to say, I find it odd that her and her sister both have the same thoughts on a lot of the "intuitive" elements of these videos.. they BOTH didn't feel like coconut rice, they BOTH didn't feel up to going to the workout class. Doesn't seem to add up to me.
They basically are the same person. I think they just try to copy each other and do the same things and film the same videos and what not just because they’re constantly together and basically live the same life. I mean they literally bought two identical apartments side by side, which means their UA-cam content is exactly the same. That’s why I stopped watching them, they might as well just make one channel together
Dear Abbey, fellow dietitian here! (All the way from Brazil, though ) Just wanted to say how much I appreciate and aplaude your work- this food combining thing hasn't made its way into Brazilian culture just yet (and hopefully it never will) but the diet culture game here is STRONG. So I am also a dietitian on the mission to eradicate the propagation of restrictive behaviour and you are such an inspiration to me!
Agreed I’ve never really understood this “I didn’t have time to eat” thing. A full on meal, ok but like sis buy some bananas 🍌 they’re meal prepped and ready to go
I just also want to point out that they always breakout on the left side of their face when they're spending a lot of money into their(her and emma) skincare but i think it has a lot to do with their diet.
I've seen a lot of people pointing out that they both started breaking out (and bloating) when they started food combining, whereas before their skin was clear. I agree, I definitely think it's diet
Eating fruits (on an empty stomach) and vegetables separately... does she count tomatoes as fruit too? So does she eat the tomato sauce before the pasta or the tomatoes separately from the rest of the salad or sth? 😥
This reminds me so much of my ED . Let me tell you , I was always starving even though technically I was eating . I remember those crunchy wraps and vegetable chips .
I’ve been waiting for this! I haven’t watched it yet but I know this is gonna be good. I used to follow Maggie and Emma but had to unfollow in my eating disorder recovery as they were triggering for me. I recently went back and watched some of their videos and they just aren’t right for me.
Good for you for unfollowing because it doesn’t feel right to you! We get to choose who we let into our lives via the internet and if they’re not bringing in any good, it’s totally okay to leave! Proud ❤️
@@averylynn464 Right!! I followed her for a long time and then realized she would be actually kind of rude in how she talks about certain things towards others.
Yess I’ve been waiting for Abbey to review Maggie’s videos! I used to be a follower for years but I unsubscribed because her unhealthy food concepts have taken over her channel. When Maggie and Emma became friends with Kenzie I could not deal with it anymore. Hopefully she realizes food combining is BS!! She just tries way too hard to be “perfect” which is just unrealistic and not relatable...
I swear if anyone here would actually watch one of her recent videos they would know that she doesn't food combine anymore. The video itself is actually about a year old
Leila Smaily if you read my comment you would notice that I stated how I unsubscribed. I’m glad she isn’t doing it anymore however, she would talk about it in so many videos.
Maybe Maggie feels too tired to go to SoulCycle because she doesn't eat enough food! I mean, if they are both eating the same thing and they are both too tired to go, and they both don't get enough food there's a good chance they're going to feel a little lethargic. Of course there could be many other factors. But this one just relates to the video
was wondering if u could review gretchen geraghty? she’s good friends with maggie but i think her food videos are much more balanced because she doesn’t food combine
Yesss she definitely eats more intuitively and I’m so proud of her for not jumping on the bandwagon I think she has a history of ED in the past and is wary of it
Katy Neis totally!! I have the same thoughts about Gretchen! I’ve been watching her videos for years and I’m a little surprised she is close friends with Maggie and Emma but Gretchen acts SO differently! She seems way more herself and genuine!!
She made a video talking about how bad college rowing was for her body image, and I'm pretty sure it caused her to have an ED, even if she didn't outright say it. But what I like is she recognized it, found help, and is working on being more positive towards herself! I can stand Maggie and Emma, I feel like they put on a "perfect" act for the camera and are super unhealthy. But I really like Gretchen! I've found her really genuine and (as someone in recovery for an ED) I don't find her videos triggering.
I saw the beginning of Maggie's video that said this one was clickbait which I couldn't agree with less - if I had my diet reviewed, I would have been so thankful for the additional insight, but she seemed to think that she was being attacked. As a content consumer, I just can't get behind someone who can't take constructive criticism, and at no point in this video seem pointed or targeted or rude. If anything, it was insightful and informative, which is more than I can say for Maggie's channel.
Yes! I only saw like two comments on her video saying the same thing, that Abbey's video was good and not attacking her. So I commented what I thought was a really mature, thought-out and respectful-while-critical comment and I'm pretty sure she deleted it
I totally agree with Abbey this isn’t a well balanced diet and shouldn’t be promoted. But all the hate in the comments toward Maggie as a person is super unnecessary en just straight up mean.
I use to have a restrictive ED as I’ve grown up modelling and acting and feeling forced to maintain crazy low weights for years. Now days I follow 3 rules thanks to abbey 1. Hunger crushing combo 2. Can I bump up the nutrition? 3. I like it, I eat it I still model and act, while my weight isn’t AS low as it use to be, it’s actually been WAY easier to maintain my weight without worrying and feeling way happier and enjoying food again ❤️
It's really comforting to hear you talk about food in this way, telling us not to be restrictive. I grew up eating pretty normally, my parents made sure we had balanced meals but looking back when I was older I felt I wasn't eating right because I wasn't covering my plates in greens or eating plant based or shopping at Trader Joes all the time to get the items with the least ingredients. Social media started to reprogram what healthy eating was to me, and its really refreshing to hear you talk about allowing yourself to eat how you want and not forcing yourself to eat a certain way to adhere to a diet or whats "clean" Thank you!! Can't wait to watch more of your videos!!
Abbey, you have seriously changed my life, THANK YOU!!! You are so eloquent, gracious, kind and just so dang intelligent. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us!! My outlook on food has changed incredibly thanks to you
This videos make me so much more confident in how I'm eating - if I want a donut, I'll have a donut, but most of my meals are quite balanced compared to a lot of these... Interesting individuals you've covered 😂
thank you for this video! maggie seems like such a sweet girl, but i have always had concerns about her promoting food combining to her younger following. love your videos!
me watching this video while eating my homemade frittata that has sausage, hash browns, eggs, cheese, peppers, and onions 👁👄👁 breaking alllll of the food combining rules LOL
Am I the only one who wonders how much these people are spending on food ? Like I know obesetobeast and unnatural vegan were affordable, but most others seem really expensive
Expensive. Her chocolate bars costs $9 each! Not to mentions all her other whole foods purchases just a few stuff normally amounts to $100 based on her vlogs for just some veggies and fruits
i saw raos pasta sauce at the store and got excited to try because its healthy and maggie uses it... did not buy it because it was over $8!!! for ONE jar of pasta sauce...
Her and Emma aren’t nice people at all. Emma recently tried to steal her best friends Ellas boyfriend. Now Emma has no friends except Gretchen and Maggie.
THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH!! I totally “bought” into Maggie’s food combining last summer, it actually got me to start eating more vegetables and become more aware of what I was putting into my body but i wasn’t able to 100% follow the rules and after about two months I was completely off of the rules bc I realized it wasn’t realistic & way too expensive. I’ve recently unfollowed both Maggie and Emma for several reasons (I wish them the best) but I’ve found their content a bit toxic.
ABBEY thank you so freaking much for this video. my god. ive been trying to help my friends get off this 'food combining' bandwagon and thinking maggie's food choices are elite... plus as someone who consumes over 100g of protein a day (i workout pretty intensely and am 5'9) her videos hurt my soul!!
I was trying to think of a single one of my meals that would follow these crazy food combining rules.... can’t think of a single one besides me eating fruit when I wake up while I wait for my breakfast to cook 🤷🏻♀️ I couldn’t even keep track of those rules lol
I love how brutally honest you are with your reviews of all different kind of influencer diets! I've learned so much from your reviews, you really explain why these diets aren't the most healthy way to fuel your body.

I’m a long term follower of Maggie and found Abbey’s channel about a year ago. I still love both channels for different reasons. I love that abbey has the ability to constructively criticize misinformation and help spread awareness to other influencers on how their words could be negatively affecting people. I think her new format of videos helps to ensure that youtubers aren’t being attacked on a personal level but simply critiqued on their knowledge, or lack there of. You’ve helped me begin to create a healthier mindset and relationship with food that’s backed by science and sustainability.
Watching your videos has helped me immensely. I struggle with disordered eating. After so many videos, you really have made me calm down and not obsess so much. Especially with this one about all the fad diets or trends in the diet culture. It’s very refreshing and offers so much peace! Thank you so much!
So after having an eating disorder for years, i felt veganism was a safe bet. But then I tried following Maggie’s specific style of food combining last summer and I actually ended up developing old habits of my eating disorder all over again. :(
Would it be possible to see a video on water intake? I’ve been really having a hard time getting water in and I was just curious about the effects/how much we need!
you dealt with this with such compassion and what seems like genuine care. This is the first video I've seen of yours because I've been subbed to Maggie for a long time now, and even tried the food combining myself because of her vlogs (surprise, didn't love it lmao). Anyway, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this video and think you create such an encouraging space and hearing some of your comments around intuition within the body really resonated with me. New subscriber (and a small youtuber myself!) here, keep up the good work ♡
Smoothies skip 2 steps in digestion as the act of chewing is a part of the digestion process as well. She also “ broke” the rules by putting veggies with fruits in the smoothies...... SPINACH is a veggie last I checked.
Been waiting for you to make this video! It’s so frustrating seeing big creators promote this style of eating when they have such young impressionable followers. The food combining really seems like an ED they’re trying to disguise.
Thank you Abbey! As someone with celiac disease, I can't tell you how many times I've had people say, "Oh you can eat sourdough. The fermentation cancels out the gluten "😳🙈. I love the people who try to tell me how to control my disease. Haha
Seeing her put that much hot sauce reminded me of when I worked on an ED unit and the patients would put so much hot sauce on everything..... 😕 I love spicy foods too, but that much would probably put me in too much physical pain to enjoy my food.
@@caitlinsheehan3298 I've had an eating disorder and also been inpatient. Honestly I've never had a real problem with it, but I think the biggest reason is that your tastebuds aren't as active anymore so you would need more spice to get the same flavour. There are other reasons but I don't know them right now😅
@@caitlinsheehan3298 there's probably different reasons why, but a common one was that excessive amounts of capsaicin can irritate your stomach/intestine lining and cause diarrhea. Though it's not as bad as abusing laxatives, which the ED inpatients weren't allowed to have, it's still a way to achieve a somewhat similar effect. I'm not necessarily assuming that the person being reviewed is doing that... But I've otherwise never seen someone use that much hot sauce 😕
Abbey, you give me life. Thank you for all of your content. I've been recovering from ED for the last 2 years and I honestly live off of your content. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you. You're changing and saving lives everywhere. I am not afraid to eat anymore because of content like this. Wow she has such a bad relationship with food
Maria Ravelli HAHAHAHAHA YES!!! At least I’m eating organic blue corn tortilla chips... feeling slightly better 🤣🤣

🙋 sweet cheese croissant over here and I'm not even hungry 🤣🤣🤣
I just was getting so mad about Dr. Dray's "what I eat" and this one I had to do something gluttonous.
Bwhahahaha me literally munching on chinese red bean cakes and sweet corn watching this
She says "you easily pronounce everything".
Smh
I know right. Lead is easy to say!
Above all, it shows how little she actually knows about nutrition.
👍
Before Maggie and her sister started getting into food combining I followed them but unfortunately I just feel that the information they are sharing is so damaging. I really have a problem with all the influencers with no formal training telling people what they should do with their bodies to be "healthy"
🙁🙁
Retweet!!!! Their audience is so young and impressionable and I’m afraid this will lead them down a disordered path 😢
I agree! And I feel uncomfortable watching them as well
Alyse Moy Emma used to bully a special kid. She’s not nice. Look how many friends she has now ever since she tried to steal her bffs boyfriend.
Taylor Dior omg how did you find out?? I always wondered why Ella disappeared
I get the idea behind the "can you pronounce everything on the label" method, but I just pulled out my pint of Ben and Jerry's and I could pronounce everything without the tricks I learned in organic chem.

To me, if someone is SO concerned with digestion and pointing out how sensitive the gut system is, adding half a bottle of hot sauce on every slice of toast just doesn't add up to me. She’s probably tired because she isn’t getting any nutrients 🤷🏽♀️ and her lack of protein, fats and basically everything else is probably attributing to that.
🙁
All I know is she may be tired because she's either very constipated or shitting a lot because her fiber intake is insanely high, but also she takes all those supplements and I've had to use some of them before under doctor recommendations so I can only imagine her poor stomach it has to be killing her energy levels.
the only thing she could possibly get more of is protein. she consumes a lot of nutrients in a day.
I defiantly agree on what you said about Maggie!

It is suuuper tasty but I do agree with you

🙁
soy actually isnt great for you if youre not careful about it💛 i dont agree with the majority of these girls’ food rules, but there are major downsides to soy consumption because it can screw with hormones!!! moderation is important
soy really isn’t good for you, especially if you have a history of hormonal breast cancer... but there are other incredible foods rich in protein and that are not as processed
Here are some studies I found (Google Scholar is a great resource for credible, institutionally backed/regulated research):

Simply put, there is a chance that soy *could* have an impact in *some* demographics (for example, the research done on postmenopausal women shows that phytoestrogens provided by soy, AKA the isoflavones mentioned in some of the links above, may have a stronger effect than premenopausal women). However, with human biology, metabolism, and physiology, there is rarely a blanket statement available for the general population. What's funny about labeling is that there are many possible ingredients that don't have to be listed on those food labels that she wouldn't be able to pronounce. LOL! (I work in labeling regulations for context)
That's so interesting! Can you give some examples?
Haha! Thats great! 👍
What do you mean? Can you elaborate?
Some examples of ingredients you don't have to list include traces, incidentals (also called incidental additives), and proprietary seasonings/flavorings. In general, all of these things are just the normal ingredients you would see on labels (including scary big words). To explain more:
1. Small quantities, this includes very small traces like produce pesticides, heavy metals (like lead), and chemical cleaning residue from machinery. Also, sometimes, when using a blend of ingredients, an ingredient from the blend will end up being so little of the final recipe it can be excluded from the listing.
2. Intended for a single ingredient but not the final product (ex. preservative used in storing one ingredient, but not intended as a preservative in the final product)
3. Legally allowed to protect their flavorings.
Also if you're a "small business" in the US, defined as producing less than 100,000 pieces a year and having less than 50 employees (if I remember correctly), you get to leave off even more.
Thanks for sharing
Exactly!!

Eating fruits (on an empty stomach) and vegetables separately... does she count tomatoes as fruit too? So does she eat the tomato sauce before the pasta or the tomatoes separately from the rest of the salad or sth? 😥

Most vegetables are fruits according to botanics. Vegetable is a culinary term, in biology it doesn't really exist.

I'll have a look
Yesss she definitely eats more intuitively and I’m so proud of her for not jumping on the bandwagon I think she has a history of ED in the past and is wary of it
I love gretchen!idk why she's still friends with maggie they seem to be very different! Gretchen feels more real/genuine

I still model and act, while my weight isn’t AS low as it use to be, it’s actually been WAY easier to maintain my weight without worrying and feeling way happier and enjoying food again ❤️
I'm so glad it is helpful!
I had never heard of food combining before I started watching more food youtube (and I study nutrition in school so that says something).
🙁
Abbey, you have seriously changed my life, THANK YOU!!! You are so eloquent, gracious, kind and just so dang intelligent. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us!! My outlook on food has changed incredibly thanks to you
Thank you so much! I'm so glad it's helpful 😊
This videos make me so much more confident in how I'm eating - if I want a donut, I'll have a donut, but most of my meals are quite balanced compared to a lot of these... Interesting individuals you've covered 😂
❤️❤️
thank you for this video! maggie seems like such a sweet girl, but i have always had concerns about her promoting food combining to her younger following. love your videos!
So glad it was helpful!
"Bottom line: These rules are stupid"
Amen, sis!
👍
me watching this video while eating my homemade frittata that has sausage, hash browns, eggs, cheese, peppers, and onions 👁👄👁 breaking alllll of the food combining rules LOL
Am I the only one who wonders how much these people are spending on food ? Like I know obesetobeast and unnatural vegan were affordable, but most others seem really expensive
🙁
Why does that literally sound like Mean Girls lmfao
Wait what where did you hear that?
Alia Ella’s tik tok
destiny214457 can you post the tiktok link or the tiktok handle of Ella?
@@isabellaestrada9095 the friends tik tok is ella moriarty
I'm so glad it was helpful!
I was trying to think of a single one of my meals that would follow these crazy food combining rules.... can’t think of a single one besides me eating fruit when I wake up while I wait for my breakfast to cook 🤷🏻♀️ I couldn’t even keep track of those rules lol
🙁🙁
Abbey Sharp how is that sad? It means I actually have balanced meals and I’m not into these outrageous food combining myths
Gabrielle Lavoie she agrees with you! She is referring to the food combining rules being sad
Gabrielle Lavoie yeah I think she’s just agreeing with you that the rules are ridiculous and sad
Abbey! Her dessert is actually a clean dessert store so basically she is all about clean eating
I love how brutally honest you are with your reviews of all different kind of influencer diets! I've learned so much from your reviews, you really explain why these diets aren't the most healthy way to fuel your body.
You would like Jaclyn Forbes, I think. She's someone I really like to watch because she makes eating fun and enjoyable!
Jocelyn is my FAVE
On the list!
I love her!!!
Don’t trust Abbey, she cut out the part where” Healthy crazy fool” ate fruit to push her agenda, she is just trying to sell you supplements
Ian Weasly uh, from what I've seen, she usually promotes getting nutrients from food rather than supplements. Like, what's her agenda?
You’re killing it Abbey !! And you look gorgeous! Congratulations on your rainbow babe; my 🌈 👶 is due In August!
Yayyy August babe twins
Abbey Sharp 🌈👶🙌🏻🙏🏻
My baby is born August 14th!!
Don’t trust Abbey, she cut out the part where” Healthy crazy fool” ate fruit to push her agenda, she is just trying to sell you supplements, that’s an example that she doesn’t actually care about her viewers!
Ian Weasly sorry you feel that way!
YESS!! I have been waiting for this🙌🏻🙌🏻
❤️❤️❤️❤️
She actually has recently started intuitively incorporating seafood into her diet! It seems to be pretty frequent too! So that’s good to see :)
👍👍
Abby had me at ” clean clean it sounds like we’re in a mr clean commercial” hahhah I’m dying 😂
😂
For the love of Pete, when will the food combining nonsense end?! 😩
🙁
I noticed that in almost every clip she starts off by saying “I’m so hungry”
I noticed that too! And everytime she said that I internally screamed, "go listen to your body and eat a decent meal!!"
I’m vegan and watching what she eats looks so unappealing especially that dinner that was just broccoli
🙁
I hate broccoli it hurts my stomach bad
Girl same! I watch some of these videos of these vegans and I’m like wtf!! I’m vegan too but ..I’m not eating a bowl of broccoli smh
Greg Doucette, I dare you.
YES! LOL
Haha it’s coming but I’m not going to lie, I’m scared
Abbey Sharp 🙏 🙏 🙏 and yes, you should be. I’d be scared too.
greg motivates me everyday to train harder and gaining more muscles !!!
@@AbbeysKitchen This is going to be amazing!!! HAHA! Just remember he is not a doctor LOL!
So glad
Watching your videos has helped me immensely. I struggle with disordered eating. After so many videos, you really have made me calm down and not obsess so much. Especially with this one about all the fad diets or trends in the diet culture. It’s very refreshing and offers so much peace! Thank you so much!
I'm so glad they are helpful!
So after having an eating disorder for years, i felt veganism was a safe bet. But then I tried following Maggie’s specific style of food combining last summer and I actually ended up developing old habits of my eating disorder all over again. :(
Thank you for sharing your experience
Would it be possible to see a video on water intake? I’ve been really having a hard time getting water in and I was just curious about the effects/how much we need!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Most people get enough water naturally without having to force it.
petty possum Nooo that’s definitely not true
I love your diet reviews! Please don't stop doing them :))
love from austria
More to come!
you dealt with this with such compassion and what seems like genuine care. New subscriber (and a small youtuber myself!) here, keep up the good work ♡
I'm so glad it is helpful 😊
Smoothies skip 2 steps in digestion as the act of chewing is a part of the digestion process as well.
She also “ broke” the rules by putting veggies with fruits in the smoothies...... SPINACH is a veggie last I checked.
True!
Been waiting for you to make this video! It’s so frustrating seeing big creators promote this style of eating when they have such young impressionable followers. The food combining really seems like an ED they’re trying to disguise.
Food combining is problematic
Thank you Abbey! As someone with celiac disease, I can't tell you how many times I've had people say, "Oh you can eat sourdough. The fermentation cancels out the gluten "😳🙈. I love the people who try to tell me how to control my disease. Haha
🙁🙁
she doesnt eat enough calories at all. it will be so bad for her in the future :(
🙁
I know!! For that protein restriction, in a future she will have really serious issues with her muscles and strength, etc
Seeing her put that much hot sauce reminded me of when I worked on an ED unit and the patients would put so much hot sauce on everything..... 😕 I love spicy foods too, but that much would probably put me in too much physical pain to enjoy my food.
Why do they do that???
@@caitlinsheehan3298 I've had an eating disorder and also been inpatient. Honestly I've never had a real problem with it, but I think the biggest reason is that your tastebuds aren't as active anymore so you would need more spice to get the same flavour. There are other reasons but I don't know them right now😅
@@caitlinsheehan3298 so its too spicy to eat
🙁🙁
My athletic performance is better than ever and I was able to join the military because I finally put on the required weight (and then some!). Just wanted you to know how loved you are!
You're so likeable Abbey and I love your sass 😂
