that chalkboard diagram is art
Thanks mate.
That is the best looking chalkboard i have ever seen, someone cares about what he does and has serious design skills...
What is he using to write?? Is that a chaulk pen?
Brilliant, and I loved your diagram!
Now I need to find a place to use this.
Stunning - love the recent upgrade in production quality too - more in keeping with your immense talent.
I’ve found my new favourite UA-cam channel! Hilarious, informative, and artistic. Thanks Martin
This effect gives me so many possible ideas about what I can do when I begin to repaint my '94 Super V 2000. Over then past years I've grown bored with the plain jane black and silver of the factory style paint I did on the bare frame. Can't wait for the next video to see what ideas it sparks .!!
WOW!!!!! BEAUTIFULLY DONE!! Best tutorial video on crystal fx ive EVER seen. Well done
Wonderful to see you back Martin, it has been a long summer without your videos 🎉❤
Amazing affect created from such a simple process, professor Martin indeed 💜😁
Fantastic explanation of the science behind the effect, and an excellent, simple demonstration of how this amazing effect is achieved. Subscribed! 😊
Thank you. You are welcome.
Nice one I used the crystal fx stuff years ago when it first came out I think I still have a bottle knocking around
Somewhere 👍love your work fellow custom painter great channel all the Dred fx custom paint

Awesome 👌
This would look really nice on my tank and fenders...
That is amazing and thanks for link in EU 😉
Thank you!!!!
Awesome results from such a simple process!
This is sick, really want to take the panels off my car and do this, would be much better then wraps and hydrodips.
I appreciate the science behind this. Much appreciated. A friend showed me he had a kit to do this from the 90s and it was expensive.$$$$$ From house of kolor.
I just made a paint studio so I can re touch my 2003 540i BMW, I am serousily conserding doing this method for my car, it looks increiable! I might do more of a light blue under coat tho, just to match the original paint it came with.
Thanks ❤❤❤❤
Wowwwwww u are such a talented guy why I can’t find anybody in America 🇺🇸 like u this is so heartbreaking 💔
very very nice .... thx
You are welcome.
Nice
This dudes awesome 🎉🎉😂😂😂
wahou, excatly what i want to do.. but on glasses. Is it work on tempered glasse ? like table.
Hi Martin; I like very much your videos , they teach me a lot of things about customization. about cristal fx, I saw hundreds of videos and meany people use also soap in the mix, and use hot water too. have they something to see in the final fx result? thanks
Brilliant.....I'm going to experiment with this now I know it's so easy to do...PS, you are nuts 😉
It is possible to make crystal effect paint in colors for camouflage?? For a stock o an bow? Thanks.
Hello and thank you for your video.the water must be hot to dissolve the urea? I mixed the three elements but nothing works 😕.no crystal effect at all on my frame
Hi
Do you need another layer of clear coat over it, or it depends on the paint you use?
I would like to try it on a car!? :)
I appreciate you taking the time to explain this. As an artist I’m always on the lookout for new techniques. I’ve already seen it but could it be possible to just use DEF fluid instead?
I was wondering the same thing. I think it would be worth a try on a small scale like on a plastic tote or something just to try it.
Thank for video. So if I’m understanding, I will paint a base color, then clear it with 2 coats of 2k clear, sand it with 800 then put crystal liquid on it, then paint light black then sand with grey scotch pad? Then I’m assuming paint candy over then clear it ?
Wonder if you could use DEF fluid as it's pretty much the same and when drys creates crystals
7:7 I like it!
Epic!
Can the crystal fx solution give you the same effect over water based acrylic paints? Like art paints
damn man, this is crazy, You can write with both hands :) nice
Yes I can.
Brilliant and clearly explained video!!!! Quick question, what temperature are you running your spray area at? Curious as mine took forever to dry!!!!! Lovely English October weather! Thanks.
in summer plus 30 degree celcius in winter minus 10 degree celsius.
nice
sehr geil!
Hi great stuff and channel.
Can this be applied to any surface, such as plastic trim on cars.
Yes, absolutely
If i use soap I should still do a 2% mixture?
These videos are amazing. Thank you. If I'm going for a white on white effect, how would I go about doing that? White base with an off white overtop, then clear coat? I'm trying to match a set of custom white wheels I'm ordering. Thanks!
White base with another white on top.
My first thought was, desilled water and urea is it AD-blue you are talking about?
Interesting I've seen diesel exhaust fluid spilled several times and it certainly dries in a crystalline structure... I almost wonder if you could just use def 😛
Very cool , thanks for the info. Do u use an .80 tip on your Iwata guns ?
I use all nozzles available.
Is it a special kind of orea… Can you use the kind you use when it’s showing 😊
Now, I don’t know the ratios, and maybe I’m an idiot, but distilled water and urea; Isn’t that just DEF for diesel engines?
lol no
I wonder if it's possible to control the crystalline development? Using some of the urea crushed into powder and placed strategically for nucleation points might do it. And we're talking like individual granules.
I’m an absolute huge fan of the channel and you but we used this technique 26 years ago with House of color products.
Does he say he invented the method? Chill out.
Nice, du bist beidhändig :)
Ja danke
Alternative product for oxgall in the Philippines?
How are you etoe? How long does a mixture last for?
Great video. Does this method leave a texture?
No
Fun fact: urea, which is an organic compound and not a mineral, was the first natural organic compound to be synthesized from minerals only, debunking the vitalistic idea that there were fundamental differences between organic and non-organic matter
True.
This so Superb
My old car needs a respray
Do you think I could do my whole car like this ?
You made this look easy and gave me confidence to test and see if I can do the car
I don't think you are able to do it. It needs a lot of experience to do large panels evenly in this style.
@@ETOE
I will practice and then give it a go
If it can be done ….. I will be able to do it
If not it will be candy cherry red all over
Never be afraid to try
@ETOE Does this also work with water-based paints?
Not really.
Hello sir, great video! Question for you? How long do you let the urea mixture dry on the helmet and how long do you let the black paint set up before wash. Thanks in advance
20 minutes and 10 minutes.
I really hope i get this down one day! This method doesn't work for me, but if i add some dish soap it does. Maybe it's a bad wettner agent batch. Im 4 tries in, it hasn't been easy. I'm not getting deep crystals. Temperature really, really, really matters and it gets lost in the juxtaposition topics of the school portion. Sanding the helmet before adding the solution really, really, really matters.
Temperature cold or hot the best ?
@ETOE in the thumbnail for this vid. What colour and product is the Candy Green that is used?
Thanks in advance Martin
@ETOE another question please. I tried the Crystal FX and it did work however I got super super tight crystals, same patten as on your helmet but imagine about 100-150x smaller. If by chance do you happen to know what can cause a a smaller pattern?
So long.
Yes you can use adblue as well but it costs more per gallon.
1 QUESTION. Do i need a pond for this project.
Fajar custom paint
The best crystal fx
Hello, I love you videos, please can you help me with a question I have regarding the crystal effect.
I would like to use this technique on a clear lexan polycarbonate Remote control car shell . However when painting these shells the paint is applied in the inside of the shell and once painting is completed a protective outer film is removed from the shell revealing the paint , this effectively is the clear coat so I wouldn’t have to do this part of your process. Please can you give me any advice on how you would attempt the crystal effect on this please. Thank you, Gary
Crystal FX solution first, black spray paint second. Remove the crystals, spray silver. Done.
@@ETOE thank you , I am grateful
Hi. Total geil. Danke Danke
2 trivia things about fish.
1/ You can tell if the fish is a surface feeder or a bottom feeder from the position of its mouth.
2/ You can tell how old a fish is by the rings of it's scales just like a tree...
should you put finish clear at the end? I might try red and yellow
If you want to keep it longer then yes.
Can I use Acrylic Flow Medium instead of ox gall?
It's very hard to get ox gall where I live
sure
Water temperature?
can the base be car paint, e.g. silver metallic? need to matte it? :) Thx a lot
Yes it can.
Will this work with water based acrylics? Or only solvent paints?
It does but you need more experience in doing it.
Does anyone know if you can use de-ionised water instead of dislilled in this process ? Thanks.
Strike that, I found that making distilled water is easy and free.
Thanks for the post; although, If had a screen shot of your ratio 1000/L for use at a later date, I going to have to inform you that it looks like a 7 not a 1.
Did you heat the water to dissolve the urea powder?
The liquid goes very cold for me
I followed the instructions exactly to the video and I’m still getting drops of water, do I add more wetting agent?
Just use an umbrella if you have drops of water on jour paint job. And my personal recommendation not so much wet talking while painting.
Thank you for the explanation. I'm a little confused about the use of the wetting agent. According to the product links in your description, the agent is used for water based paints. However, I thought the Rust-Oleum paints you recommend in your description were epoxy/enamel based paints. Are they not? Or, is the repelling nature of the of the two part of what creates the effect?
You don't mix the wetting agent in the rustoleum color. You mix it in the distilled water which should be water-based.
You could also use jet dry I am sure. It is also a surfactant and does the same thing. I have never heard of the product he mentioned but I know we have jet dry on the dishwasher soap aisle in the US
Hello good day do you have substitutes for the wetting agent? (Oxgall) it isnt available in my my country
Sorry for the trouble.
Thank you
You can use dish soap.A couple drops.
Thank you. 😊@@moses4031
Or try jet dry. The liquid made to put in dishwashers. It is the same type of product (surfactant).
I need help getting the colored effect. I can't find the candy paint anywhere on canada
