    Stopping when it feels right is always the best move. As you've said below, I can't count the times I've driven on only to be disappointed in my final camp spot. You totally have the right attitude though. Have a rough itinerary, know what there is to see in the area, and then stop and smell the roses and see where the trip takes you. I can't tell you how frustrated I've been with some popular UA-camrs who are clearly largely ignorant of the area they are in and are mostly driven by a tightly determined production schedule. The number of great points of interest I've seen them drive right by, not knowing they were there, is stunning and totally due to zero preparation on the area. I used to just brush up on the area in the old Moon Handbooks, now there's even more and better resources.
    That blaze coat on the dark dog is an incredibly smart move.

      Definitely! Over the years I've passed up some AMAZING campsites, only to stop at a reallllly bad one later in the day. Then I spend the rest of the evening wishing I hadn't passed up the great one.
      So, when we found this one....I was MORE than happy to stop!

    Airing down? Im just learning about overlanding, why do you air down?

    • @WheretoNextOverland
      @WheretoNextOverland  Рік тому +2

      Great question! The primary reason to air down is to increase ride comfort. It's amazing how much more comfortable the ride is on rough, unpaved roads when you let some air out of the tires.
      Airing down also increases the size of a tires contact patch on the ground, which means it gives you more traction in slippery conditions or to get over difficult obstacles.
      Last reason to air down is to help avoid punctures. If a tire is fully inflated to normal (road use) PSI, it's a bit more likely you could pick up a puncture since the tire is less able to deform over, let's say, a sharp rock.
      Hope that helps!

    • @WheretoNextOverland
      @WheretoNextOverland  Рік тому +1

    ditch the busy music

    • @WheretoNextOverland
      @WheretoNextOverland  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the honest feedback. I sort of figured the music would be polarizing, but I wanted to try something different than the usual folk rock / classical that you get with most videos on Overland channels (not that there's anything wrong with that).
      This is a good opportunity for discussion though. If anyone else has thoughts on the music (good / bad / ugly), reply here and share. I would greatly appreciate any and all feedback!

    • @ChannelD90
      @ChannelD90 Рік тому +1

      The choice of tunes is fine. The problem, like most videos, is that the music is WAY too high in the mix, much louder than the speaking parts. I constantly have to turn down the volume when the music kicks in. Makes it really hard to enjoy an otherwise good production. Also, music is used in scenes where the sounds of nature would be much better on their own. At least lower it in those scenes so you can hear the chirping birds or the running water, etc. Your vids are great otherwise.

    • @WheretoNextOverland
      @WheretoNextOverland  Рік тому

      This is GREAT feedback. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I hear you on audio levels not matching being super annoying! I'm still learning a lot and trying to match levels is sometimes a challenge in the video editing software.
      Also hear you about nature sounds vs music. Often times what happens (behind the scenes) is that all the mic catches are people talking or blown out wind noise....in which case the music is a cover up (or fake nature sounds 🤣)

    • @TheKPDX
      @TheKPDX Рік тому +1

      @@WheretoNextOverland I actually like the music selection, which surprises me; but I completely agree about lowering it's volume. It's pretty loud compared to the normal sound track of the video. Music matches the mood pretty well here though

    • @WheretoNextOverland
      @WheretoNextOverland  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, for sure ... audio levels between music and all the rest can be tricky. It's funny when I go back and watch some of these earlier videos and I CRINGE at some of the editing mistakes I made. Audio leveling being a big one, haha.
