    Rattlesnakes by the tracks. I believe those to be speckled rattlesnakes. Mojave rattlesnakes are not aggressive, they are defensive as any rattlesnake is. Those snakes (the speckled) are very cool snakes. Looks like an awesome trip

      You could definitely be right. I spent waaaay too long comparing markings of various rattlesnake species to figure out what they were ... but it was tough. Haha

      @@WheretoNextOverland yeah, I suspect those are panamint (a sub of speckled) snakes. Mojave rattlesnakes are not always green, they can be brown or tan as well. Your overland trip through the Mojave Rd is documented very well. Did you know that the “mojave rd was the predecessor to Route 66. I have acreage not too far from the rd. Happy overlanding, BTW, I’ll be smashing the like and sub buttons.

      Definitely one to add to the list. Quite different than anything we've done before and well worth it.

    Amazing video, that must of been a rattlesnake den, now that’s spooky. Can’t wait for the pt.2. 🙂

      Thank you! One of us in the group stumbled across that den while walking on the tracks. He was pretty close when they started rattling. Glad it wasn't me!

    Probably wouldn't have run into rattlers in the cool darkness of that canyon but a wise decision nonetheless as just the chance is really too much of a risk. After watching the next video - you guys need to remember to grab a headlamp.
    Interesting to see the Afton river crossing so manageable. It was deeper when we where there and I was borrowing my exbrother in-laws 2nd Gen Sequoia so we opted not to risk it. We actually camped at the Afton Cyn Campground - it was easily 100*F and only one other campsite was occupied.

      Yeah, seeing video of the first Afton Canyon water crossing before it was filled in, I'm not too mad at the rail company for doing it. Haha

      Thanks! I guess I've geeked out on so many National Geographic shows over the years that the vibe can't help but come through in these videos 😆.
      Appreciate the kind words. By the way, your channel is excellent. Your editing is something for me to strive for. Keep up the great work!

    What are you using to mount the Inreach up near the sunroof?

    • @WheretoNextOverland
      @WheretoNextOverland  2 роки тому

      It's actually just stuck straight to the headliner with the velcro on the clip that came with the Inreach. It's......mostly secure.
