Unboxed my new Yamaha receiver and immediately became intimidated, until I watched your video. This video was clear, concise and easily understood even by a novice such as myself. Thanks for an incredible video!
I've spent an absurd amount of time trying to understand all this stuff in the last few days, and this video is the first thing that was clear and super helpful. Thanks man!

Very nice. As someone who has not set up a receiver in 10 years this showed me some basics that made it easy. Thank you, I had been chasing all over the net looking for something that helped me with basic set up.
6:32 This is the video I've been looking for all this time. Installation details and function options for SPDIF and HDMI out cables. Thanks very much. May God reward you abundantly 🙏🏽 Greetings from Indonesia 🇮🇩👋🏽
Outstanding explanation! This is the First time in my whole life that I completely understand the whole cables connectivity between TV and an AV receiver and all the different equipments!! Thanks a million dear friend! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Nice video. I've been setting up friends receiver's for years. He is spot on, on everything. Now when someone needs help I can send who ever here, to this video. Great video. Oh I'm getting ready to buy this very receiver and speaker system.
Good video but only thing I would change is that the speaker wires are labeled red and black for negative and positive, reversing them changes the polarity and will be out of phase, probably not giving you the bass or audio you expect. Usually white wire with black line is your negative or black wire.
The Airbus A320 is my all time favorite plane. This is also my hobby. I am also special needs. I love Yamaha Receivers as well. I own the Yamaha TSR-700 a rebranded model of the RX-V6A
so informative!! thank you this helped me a lot to setup my dad's surround system! just needed Information about binding posts which I found in another video
Hi. Greetings! Very usefull your tutorial, I’m having just a little issue with almost the same reciever, But I can’t see that menu on my tv! Maybe is because is not a high speed hdmi cable? Actually I had to connect a hdmi cable( maybe is not high speed) and and optical wire to have output from my tv
I pretty much new what I was doing b4 however this helped me freshen up and exhume the confidence I needed to not fudge it up. Btw you spoke very well, nice and easy consistent and with fluidity nice job 👍
There is a BIG Added Plus to connecting as many HDMI sources as you can to the 4K TV. You can make video adjustments for every HDMI source plugged into the TV, so you will get the best picture possible and the TV will store those adjustments for each HDMI input. Plugging everything into the AVR and outputting though the ARC/EARC cable means you will be making adjustment for best picture every time you switch HDMI sources.
Thank you so much for this video. I was one step from purchasing pioneer htp074, but after this video I just might buy this reciever and then buy speakers later. One question about subwoofer, does the sub needs to have its own power? I have samsung sound bar and I was wondering can I use that subwoofer with this unit. Thanks
Some years ago I moved into a house that had hard wired speakers in the lounge room. We bought this exact model of Yamaha after the TV salesman said we needed to have it, and a friend set it up for us. Now, we've moved to a house that doesn't have the surround sound system and I'm not particularly keen on setting that up, considering the type of house we are in now. Dumb question - can I use this device simple with a sound bar or is this device now too fancy for my simple needs? We shelled out a lot of money for this and I'm reluctant to get rid of it.
This information was literally incredible! You definitely have a new subscriber here! Keep up the great work! I just got a Marantz receiver and will use your advice on getting it set up! Thanks again!
Thanks someone gifted me a Yamaha receiver a few days ago and I don’t know how to use it. The guy kissed it and then gave it to me because he’s moving and I was helping throw away his stuff. I think the one I got is an old model though because it doesn’t have Bluetooth
When you hook up the microphone at the end of the video, do you have to leave that connected long term or is that just something you connect at initial setup?
I have a Pioneer Kuro TV, a Samsung DVD player and a new Denon AVR. If I connect the DVD player to the AVR via HDMI then the AVR to the TV via HDMI then the TV audio to the AVR via optical cable, do I then have to connect the TV directly to the DVD player? Or has that already been accomplished by the DVD to the AVR to the TV? I am asking because the DVD player only has one HDMI output. Thanks
Very descriptive video. I used it to connect my Yamaha. But I have a problem. Only the left side of the speakers are playing from the television. But when I test the system surround sound as, all speakers work perfectly. Can you help me?
Hi, I have model HTR-4071 , in stereo the music plays without bass. I can't set it up. But in a movie where the effects are a blast, for example, it already has bass. Only when I play music so no bass. Don't know what to do?
Hi... can't get arc to work on my hisense smart tv. I see you said you have to turn arc on on the receiver? Though of course I can't get that menu on my tv as the arc isn't working as yet. I would have thought setting the source to tv would be effectively turning it "on"? Any suggestions ? Great vid thanks.
Lovely video...can I ask a couple of questions please? Firstly I have just bought a second hand Yamaha rx-v375 ( one later than your old 373 ) it's in great condition for it's age and works fine except for the remote ( not all the buttons work) can one of the numerous remote replacements that I've seen online on Amazon,eBay ect ect actually be trusted to control my amp do you think ( they are similar in design to the original remote and are not that expensive tbh) what's your thoughts?...second question I have Hooked up my amp to my TV via the hdmi arc socket on both my TV and the receiver ( all good and works ok after turning TV menu to hdmi arc on) I've set the speakers up with the room Mike thing as shown in this video and it sounds awesome on my energy take 5 satellite speakers and active sub....now I'd like to know how do I get the on-screen graphics and instructions for other areas of set up if you get me as I can't figure out how to get the graphics on screen? Is it because I'm using the arc feature? Do I need to use a normal hdmi connection to set up and then go back to the arc connection once I'm done? Oh and 1 let question I have no clue what the scene buttons are about because when I press blu ray or TV it totally knocks the standard 5.1 graphics on the receiver display out and I then have to switch the receiver off and back on again to get it to default to standard 5.1 surround! Other than that I'm happy with it...any help from yourself or anyone reading this would be much appreciated.
Good video. YAPO result is not effective in case of room with furniture. Only for distance it is ok otherwise result is useless. Better manual calibration is ok.
hey bro how about the sound coming from my TV. Like netflix installed in my tv does the sounds come out of the speakers or you need a hdmi dev like apple tv and roku
hi great video....at 4:05 in the video ...you are talking about connecting your ixfinity /cable box directly into the back of the Receiver....and you pointed to hdmi1(bd/dvd)....is it ok to put the hdmi from tv there even if it says (bd/dvd)? thank you pat
Is it possible to make this connection through a laptop? I don't like tv ... and I I would not like to buy a tv to make this configuration. I appreciate your advice
Does the tv output higher than 5.1? Can the receiver receive higher than 5.1. I think the tv and receiver has to be HDMI 2.1 to get higher than 5.1 and so does the arc. Let me know.
We hooked ours up and can’t get any sound, and we did basically everything you can think of and we don’t get a setup screen for the receiver that shows up on the tv
I hVe an RX-V661 receiver.... that is why I need help to get help to set it up and what components to buy..... Please help.... Yor receiver is easy to to hook up... my mine is old was eas giving to me for free that is why I want help
I have a similar Samsung TV, but it’s curved. Right now my main issue is that the arc connection is not working. I have a movie playing through Hulu and when I switch to other speakers settings, there is no audio. Help please
I connected MY PC to receiver via Optical connection and the PC detects the receiver as stereo instead of 5.1. The only solution that works is PC to Receiver via HDMI. I would stay away from Optical if you want anything higher than stereo.

Nice video. Would love to see a demonstration of how you switch between all the different source connections on your TV and AVR.
best video I've seen on setting up a receiver. Thank you!
Thank you! ARC wasn't working for my setup. Turns out that I wasn't using the high-speed cable as you mentioned.
Nice video. I've been setting up friends receiver's for years. He is spot on, on everything. Now when someone needs help I can send who ever here, to this video. Great video. Oh I'm getting ready to buy this very receiver and speaker system.
