    A little trick id recommend to all new viewers is updating your volume settings, limiting the "max volume" (avoids someone cranking up your system to dangerous levels) and setting an "initial volume" level so your system will always be set at a safe volume level when turning on your receiver. This way you can avoid blowing out your system.

    FYI - The higher you set the crossover subwoofer the "more" it will work and kick in. If you don't want it to work as much as you stated in your video, set it lower at 80hz or below instead of the 100hz like you have yours set at. In my home system I have my subwoofer crossover set at in the 80 - 60hz range depending what music I'm playing.

    • @Turtleback8024

      How do you cross a subwoofer over on the V6A? I could cross my L+R, C, SR, SL over to their respective crossover points. But the subwoofer doesn't have a crossover setting at least on my V6A? In regards to having to crossover your speakers higher to get the subwoofer output (I guess you're referring to 2ch stereo listening?🤔), I've heard that to get the subwoofer output in 2ch stereo , you'd have to configure your speakers differently from the YPAO settings, i.e FRONT: Large, with EXTRA BASS turned to "ON", meaning you'd have to run your FRONTS "Full range" and EXTRA BASS will bring the subwoofer on. Terrible bass management by Yamaha!!! Now there's extra demand on the Receiver, and added load on the speakers, risking the Receiver's possibility to run hot! This is just weird!!!

    • @sugarey

      If I recall bi-amping is like a pre-amp where the signal can pass through. If that’s what you want to do yes that should work.

    Sugarey...well done and worthy of a like AND a subscribe. Question. With eARC, is there any reason to keep plugging all of your inputs into the receiver? With the capability of HDMI these days, why not plug blue-ray, PS2, etc, into the TV, then get your audio via eARC to the receiver?

    • @sugarey
      @sugarey  3 роки тому +2

      If I could hide all the cables in-wall I would go definitely run all HDMI direct to TV then eARC to receiver purely for video quality.
      For my current application I run my them through receiver so there’s only one HDMI and power through my cable management rail. Dolby ATMOS requires eARC but sounds like you’re all good my friend.

      If you set the speakers to 80hz for example - your sub will receive signals 80hz and below. I typically match my sub setting to match what the receiver crossover is set at. As a side note I have the volume at 3/4=75% when I use the YPAO/RSC setup.

    Thanks so much SUGAREY! This helped a lot! One quick question. I am setting the levels on my TSR-700. What volume level should I set the receiver at, when using the test tone to read the tone with a decibel meter? I am only able to achieve 57dB, and not the recommended reference level of 75dB. I am using Klipsch Reference speakers, which should easily be able to handle the load.

    • @sugarey
      @sugarey  3 роки тому

      What I do is start with the YPAO/RSC configuration. Which then I believe the sweet spot for my TSR-700+Jamo speakers is ~56-60 volume (I change from db). From there I use the test tone and distant to tweak to my personal preference. Hope this helps.

    Hey Rey, love the video. One of the things I haven't seen is an option to enable Dolby Atmos on surround decoder type. I'm running a 5.1 setup right now so I'm wondering if because I don't have the atmos speakers, it does not give me that option. What do you use for the surround mode? I am using the AVR in TV Audio mode using the E-Arc. TV does see the AVR as a Dolby Atmos device just fine. No inputs thru AVR. I want the AVR to be in an Auto decode mode pretty much, just decoding whatever the TV puts out. I sit best to use Straight mode so the AVR does no extra processing, or should i manually set it to Dolby Atmos? Thanks!

    Thanks for the information! When I turn on my xbox it switches the AV input to my TV. If I switch the AV to my xbox setting it won't show the picture, but if I turn off my xbox then switch to the AV receiver then turn it on everything works fine. Any idea on how to get the receiver to stop switching the input when I turn on my xbox? I also had one day where none of the inputs showed video. I had to cycle the receiver by holding the power button until it blinked, I hope this helps anyone else with the issue.

    I'm planning to buy it.. I read online that eARC has bugs, however, I only need it for dolby atmos movies streaming from Netflix and Amazon prime movies. Will it pass through the signal from my Sony TV x900h to the V6a avr without issues and bugs (Using eARC) ??

    We are trying to get the TSR-700 to work a Samsung UN65TU 7000F TV using cable and a single remote and Alexa. The question I have is the main zone always powers up to HDMI 1 and so we always have to change to HDMI 2 where the cable box is. I did not see anywhere in this video where I could change the default zone to power up to HDMI 2. My older receiver just stays on the last Input played. Can I either default mine to default to HDMI 2 or even last zone played?

    Thank you. Very straight forward and easy to understand video. I have one question. I have WII that connect to receiver in HDMI 7 plug via Wii to HDMI convertor adaptor. Everything working fine but when I change my scene to WII and click setup menu button on receiver, it does not display on TV screen including turning up/down volume display. Any thought or suggestion for this issue. Thank you in advance.

      Try Settings>HDMI Format>Mode 2. Also check your cable and if needed try a different port on the back of the receiver. Thank you for watching the video.

      Do you get the message "CHECK SP WIRE" when you turn your receiver back on? If so you might be having some exposed speaker wire strands touching or a stray wire causing the receiver to auto shut off as a safeguard against short circuiting. I had this issue when I set my receiver up, it kept shutting off during the YPAO calibration when it would get to the surround speakers, turns our there were exposed wires, once I cut the wires and restriped the system worked just fine.

    I have a Yamaha TSR-700 with a 7.1 speaker setup. Sound works great when on my Bluray 4k Player, decoding 7.1 ch sound track and all speakers work as they should. When I switch to my NVIDIA Shield and stream 5.1 ch encoded content, the rear speakers get disabled and the left and right presence speakers become the rear speakers. It is absolutely driving me insane on how to fix this. Is there a setting that I need to use ... there many other people that are struggling with this.

    Hello, gret video, thanks for this. Do you know how to factory reset the settings just in case? I tried to go to setting and reset thru the menu, however, it ends with an error, so not sure. I'm currently facing an issue where my tv is no longer receiving the inputs from my devices. I have a roku and blu ray connected to HDMI1 and 2 and neither of them are streaming to the TV. Something is going really bad.

    Is there a way to use this receiver just to play music through on four outdoor speakers? If so, would you happen to know how I would wire it up so that all the speakers are playing the same sound....basically mono?

    • @sugarey
      @sugarey  3 роки тому

      Yes you can use the “zone 2”. If you look at the speaker terminals it’s labeled “extra sp1” or “zone”. Then turn on “party mode” for all the speakers to work. You could try to wire the speakers in parallel like daisy chaining two of them for left and right. Hope this helps.

    I accidentally hit ENTER or OK in the INITALIZATION box.. apparently this causes loss of all the good set ups...the Yamaha sounds "thin" now.. is there a way to restore the sound ? I TRIED to restore the GOOD sound I had before entering the INITIALIZATION.. but nothing works. Perhaps if I ran the YPAO again.. would that restore the great bass and generally good sound as before? Thanks~

    • @sugarey
      @sugarey  3 роки тому

      Yes you’ll need to run the YPAO again. Initializing resets like out of the box. You probably already fixed it. Sorry for the delayed response.

    Very informative and helpful video! I know you breezed through Zone 2 but I have an issue. When the A/V folks set up the system the patio speakers were hooked up to Zone 2 outputs. He tested it and it was working fine. Since then I haven't been able to get any output to those speakers. When I turn Zone 2 on the front display shows it's on but when I change the input it comes on for a few seconds then the screen goes dark. I've checked the speaker connections multiple times and even switched them and the receiver to the other Zone 2 plugs but still no audio. Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    • @sugarey
      @sugarey  2 роки тому

      Adrian any chance you tried to redo the RSC/YPAO settings? Check to see Zone 2 is still listed in the “Amp Assign” as well as check the speakers aren’t blown by connecting them to the front speaker posts.

      @@sugarey Hello, it's set to 5.1.2+1Zone with SP2 as Zone 2 which is how the speakers are wired. I'll do the speaker swap but not quite sure how they could have blown since they were only ever played once at modest volume. Thanks

      @@sugarey I took down one of the speakers and connected it directly to the receiver via a separate wire and got sound so it it is an issue with the wiring. There is a "gain/volume" control switch installed in that path so the problem is likely there. Thanks for your help!

    Just bought mine to install in new home that I pre-wired for 5.1 set up, might add in future to 7.1 or use for 2 zone. I specifically bought this receiver as I've read you can change the audio outputs for different inputs. Example would be watching tv while listening to music (watching sports or playing video game). Can you explain where you would do this?

    • @sugarey
      @sugarey  2 роки тому

      Yes I do that often like when I change from watching movies - I have Dolby then when I stream music I use "straight". I do this on the remote. Play with the "straight" button I had to get used to how it works. Try pressing straight or pure direct "twice" that's how it toggles off and on. Hope this helps.
