This is how you do a promotional video in 2024. Don’t highlight the product, highlight what people can do with it. Stories instead of spreadsheets. Well done! Still a proud owner of an original X100.
Actually it's promoting a new camera. The intro is beautiful indeed, then they started to speak about the camera with the royalty free music and stuff ...and THAT was very promotional :)
Never seen a promotional video from any company big or small, being created with such taste and artistic vision. I forgot that the vidoe was about Fujifilm X100VI. It was truely a documantary full of feelings. The art of creator was to add the camera to this perfect masterpiece, in a way that is not too much and not too little. Congratulation to the producer, director, dp and other crew involved in making this video. Thank you for the great experience. 😊
Well said! Fuji does such a wonderful job of understanding their customer base and speaking to them. Their X-100V promo with Zach Arias is very similar in approach. The X-100 series reminds me of when I truly fell in love with photography. I had a fixed lens rangefinder camera I bought second hand when I was 14. I feel closest to photography when using a simple kit.
Dear Mr Abell, If you're reading this, I'm using this chance to thank you for all the knowledge you've shared. Learning from you is a joy. Seeing you in a new fuji commercial has made my day.
What a lesson to all of us photographers. Wait. Be patient. Be humble. Be grateful for the opportunity. Wonderful. Thank you, Fujifilm and Mr. Abell for this wonderful video.
I have been a snarky critic of many of these Fuji promo vids over the last few years, but, Fuji…you did good on this one, kudos. I have been a fan of Sam’s work for decades now and this touched me…bravo.
This has to be one the best Fujifilm promos I have seen for the X100 series. Celebrating a legend like Sam Abell, discussing his vision, that's what inspires one to buy the right camera!
“Bringing people together around a common humanity” is at least as important in this moment as it ever has been, and this wonderful film is a testament to that. This film gives one chills, brings one to tears, and beautifully showcases the human design ethic underlying the X100 series. I was deeply moved by early photos and articles about Sam Abel’s work and technique, and I remember one photo in particular of him, crouched down, simple camera in hand, conversing with his subject somewhere in Africa. As he mentioned here, the classic, clean lines of a 35mm size camera makes for a great tool and companion. It certainly evokes wonderful nostalgia for oldies like me. Kudos, Fujifilm.
Thank you, Sam Abell, for your contributions and Fujifilm, for your sponsorship and technologies. Photographs of my father and family refresh my memories; times that I appreciate now more than ever. I was walking past a video crew having lunch, with my XT-4 strapped around my neck, and one of the professionals said, "Ah....a Fuji guy..." and waived. In my case, guilty as charged.
I saw him speak at Fujikina in New York a few years ago, and this video wonderfully reflects his ability to talk about photography in way that provokes thought the art of taking pictures, but also on the act of living itself. Really valued his words, both then and now.
Mr Abell, was able to express his photography with words in this video...that is a skill a trait that is slipping today, yes this was a promo for the 100VI, but oh you made it so much more. Thank you to all that inspired us to achieve more in our walk through life with our camera in hand.
It’s so beautiful and inspiring to see how photography can have such an impact on the way we perceive life. Seeing talent like Sam that truly immerse themselves in the craft makes me want to capture every little moment and try to see the beauty in everything. Take nothing for granted because tomorrow is not promised and long after we go, our photos will continue to tell our stories.
This video, in my opinion, isn't so much about a camera, but more so a story about the incredible contributions of Sam Abell to both photography and humanity. Before today, embarrassingly I had little awareness of Mr. Abell, however I feel I've been gifted to "get to know" him through the photography of Fujifilm. It's hard to imagine the personal value the photos Mr. Abell took and shared were to the family members, generations later. And, to photograph the monk so many years later had to be an unimaginable experience for both of them. Thank you Fuji for creating such an inspirational video. Lastly, it was stated during the Summit that yesterday was Mr. Abell's birthday. So, sir, if you're reading this I hope you had an incredible day! You certainly deserve it.
About 20 years ago a book on Sam's photography found its way to me, I was in highschool. Since then I've gone to school for photography, graduated with a bfa, and then quit the art. now here I am 20 years later, getting inspired once again by Sam and his photography. Maybe this time I'll make a go of it.
very relatable and tbh makes me realize how much I like photography, not for the technique or the gear, but for the memories of authenticity it brings back when I see back at the photos I took
A very clever move by FujiFilm. They have set the bar high and have established a precedent for artistic presentation of a camera launch. Got to hand it to them, they know how to reach their target market in a subtle and seductive way.
This video not only inspired me purchase this camera, but it inspired me to take steps to create a life I want. I think technology has scared me away from pursuing my ambitions as a photographer because the editing process is intimidating. Knowing I can feel comfortable and confident taking photos that are both simple and stunning with minimal editing makes me find joy in photography again.
A way of telling stories to connect people and humanity. That's what photography meant. Fuji cares about those and their cameras speak about them. Man, now i got my itch doubled to pull the trigger and get this one and start documenting. Cheers Mr. Abell.
Very artistic & poetic promo video. I’ve put on my pre order and this will be my first fuji camera. My sony & canon are great for job wise but I need this to feel alive again.
What a beautiful film in conversation, scenery and cinematography. It was truly inspiring to hear Sam speak but also to hear from the descendants of the woman and potter. This film showed what photography can mean to the photographer themself, a subject such as the monk and then people who were not involved in the image making at all. Sure, we see the X100VI and realize that this film relates to it's introduction but it was not the star of the film. The team that put this together is to be commended.
Wow-what an incredible video. I'm a huge fan of Sam Abell and an X100-series camera was what reinvigorated my engagement with photography many years ago. This was a real pleasure to watch.
Wow. Just... wow. A photographer essay orchestrated to introduce a new iteration of an amazing camera should not also shoulder the responsibility of reminding why it is a worthy pursuit to put a camera to the eye (while simultaneously bringing a tear or two), but this tribute to Sam Abell delivers on all counts. The "photographic life" indeed. I look forward to having the VI in my hands as soon as possible.
Congratulations for this promotional video. I loved the story behind the photos taken in 1980's and it was a special moment that reunion with the photographer and the granddaughter of the lady who was photographed back in the day.
This is the best Fujifilm video I have ever seen, of course it is to promote a camera, but it shows the reality of our lives, the deep meaning of what it means to live it, I love Sam's smile over the comments they make about the photographs and its connection with the past and present.
Thank you for Sam-san! I had completely forgotten about "waiting" in the hectic hustle and bustle, so this was a great story that brought back vivid memories of my time living in Hagi.
Excellent work, Fujifilm. Sam Abell in Hagi is the perfect testimonial for the enduring quality of the X100. Mine, which I carry with me since 2014, gave me a lot of images of timeless value over the years, and continues to do so.
Wonderful video and wonderful memories from a great photographer. Enjoyed every second of watching it. Really reminded me of why I love being a photographer so much and why it’s so deeply connected to me.
This is how you do a promotional video in 2024. Don’t highlight the product, highlight what people can do with it. Stories instead of spreadsheets. Well done! Still a proud owner of an original X100.
Yeah... especially since he used a Leica for all those shots. 😅 Still - great video.
This video is not about promoting a new camera. It's about meaningful life. It touches my soul. Thank you
Actually it's promoting a new camera. The intro is beautiful indeed, then they started to speak about the camera with the royalty free music and stuff ...and THAT was very promotional :)
It is a promotional video, but presented in a beautiful and inspirational way if a bit too purposely sentimental
Promoting a lot more than a camera, a tool of an artisan and an appreciation of the sacrifices for others.
What camera?.. Ohhhh yes the Minolta r7.. wait no.. what was it... doesn't matter 🤔
The Man, who is holding the camera is a legend. Legendary natgeo photographer "Sam Abell". ❤😍😇
Best Fuji promo ever, thank you Sam Abell
So true!
Best camera promo ever I'd say. :)
Funny, just said the same but not that eloquently. Well said

Leica, Sigma, both have many that where equally well crafted.
Dear Mr Abell,
If you're reading this, I'm using this chance to thank you for all the knowledge you've shared. Learning from you is a joy.
Seeing you in a new fuji commercial has made my day.
Same here. Definitely made my day!
By far the best Camera commercial video I have seen , so touching when the monk and the photographer meet 43 years later !
I’m literally crying. Bravo Fujifilm. いつもありがとうございます。
Same here - the story is so much beyond the camera - I have been pushed today to get out and make memories, make connections.
A promotional video that becomes a work of art. Congratulations Fujifilm. And "Thank you," Sam Abell.
What a lesson to all of us photographers. Wait. Be patient. Be humble. Be grateful for the opportunity. Wonderful. Thank you, Fujifilm and Mr. Abell for this wonderful video.
...and just be grateful for the gift life, above all.
Came here expecting hype for the new Fuji. Found 17 beautiful minutes. Great job.
What a gift to return to those moments and meet the families and subjects of those pictures. Wow.
I have been a snarky critic of many of these Fuji promo vids over the last few years, but, Fuji…you did good on this one, kudos. I have been a fan of Sam’s work for decades now and this touched me…bravo.
they did good because this guy is real he isnt a influencer or just another street shooter
@@Hackzyyz He is simply a photographer...bravo Fuji...wonderfully told
This has to be one the best Fujifilm promos I have seen for the X100 series. Celebrating a legend like Sam Abell, discussing his vision, that's what inspires one to buy the right camera!
They are no longer made like this: A Gentleman Photographer.
Your video about this Gentleman is PRICELESS!
Please keep on sharing.
Big bravo to Fuji to reconnect us with the genuine art of photography. Sam Abel is our star
Bravo Fuji for bringing on Sam Abell, such a legend and inspiration.
There is so much emotion in this video. Thank you, Fuji and Sam!

Amazing and gratifying. Sam Abel is a treasure. Thank you Fuji for reminding us of that.
This the the best promo I have seen for a camera ever. This has the soul of a photographer.
Very touching moment with the grand daughter. Enjoyed this film.
こんなに優れたプロモーション動画は見たことないです。とても素晴らしいと思いました。最後まで見入ってしまいました。
Not only the best cameras but also the best videos - fujifilm deserves all the fame
I ve never thought i would cry watching a promotional video. I will save to buy one of these camera, wonderful work of art. Thank u Fujifilm
This is the single most inspiring photography-related video I have ever watched. Sam means and stands by every single word he says. Thank you.
感動して涙が出てきました、動画ではなく写真の持つ可能性が再発見できました。ありがとう。
Beautiful stories about human connection. Lovely photographs! Thank you!
Made me think of my father and the last photo I took of him before he died.
Thank you for sharing this with us. The power of capturing pure moments
I saw Mr. Abell give a presentation at the last big Fujifilm event in NYC. Full of insight and thoughtfulness... a great teacher.
Thank you, Sam Abell, for your contributions and Fujifilm, for your sponsorship and technologies. Photographs of my father and family refresh my memories; times that I appreciate now more than ever. The most classy, organic and tasteful promo i've ever seen!!!
I wasn't expecting to get emotional watching this.... Thank you for being so inspiring!

A very emotional video showing us the power of photography. Thank you Sam Abell and Fujifilm

One of the best or let me say best Ad I`ve ever seen. That is exactly the spirit of Fujifilm or the X 100 Series. Well done Fujifilm
This was one of the best videos I've seen a brand produce in years. Don't sell the product by features - but what it can do for your life.
This might be the best ad I’ve ever seen
Thank you Mr. Sam Abell for your generosity and compassion.
The Monk moment before this movie reaches the end is very touching and surprising. Fuji, you are OK!
This video, in my opinion, isn't so much about a camera, but more so a story about the incredible contributions of Sam Abell to both photography and humanity. Before today, embarrassingly I had little awareness of Mr. Abell, however I feel I've been gifted to "get to know" him through the photography of Fujifilm. recommend a book from Sam Abell “seeing garden”to learn more about this legend photographer
This was simply stunning. What a wonderful 17 minutes of wisdom and story telling. Bravo Fujifilm.
I watched it twice and I still can't get enough of it
About 20 years ago a book on Sam's photography found its way to me, I was in highschool. Was für ein großartiges Video mit einem großartigem Fotografen. Man könnte fast vergessen, dass es ein Promo Video ist. Great Job!
Simply beautiful & inspiring. Thank you.
very relatable and tbh makes me realize how much I like photography, not for the technique or the gear, but for the memories of authenticity it brings back when I see back at the photos I took
Thank you Sam Abell, and thank you Fujifilm. You have touched my soul.
This is probably the best promo ever done for a camera, simply beautiful. (I pre-ordered mine already) can't wait for next Wednesday.
Thanks Fujifilm! One of the most touching stories I seen from Fujifilm. Fitting for the magic of the X100 series of cameras
Well done Fujiflim. Thanks you Mr Abell
This was such a treat, I ended up with tears in my eyes. What a beautiful promotional video.
This is photography: pure feeling.
I love me this video, thanks!!
I’ve watched this 3 times already ….. always been a fan of his ….. Fuji couldn’t ask for a better ambassador
A very clever move by FujiFilm. They have set the bar high and have established a precedent for artistic presentation of a camera launch. Got to hand it to them, they know how to reach their target market in a subtle and seductive way.
Well stated.
Incredibly inspiring. Fujifilm should make more of these videos!
It is also the reason I came back from other much more technically capable cameras to Fuji… I do not like to spend time in post…
What a touching visual narration from the most amazing photographer, Sam Abell, that moved me from within, thank you FUJIFILM.
Oh wow was this spectacular and inspiring. Fantastic Mr. Abell and Fuji for helping create this.
What a beautiful and thoughtful video.
The soul of photography
This might be the best advertisement I've ever seen... and it didn't even feel like an ad. Wow.
A way of telling stories to connect people and humanity. That's what photography meant. Fuji cares about those and their cameras speak about them. Man, now i got my itch doubled to pull the trigger and get this one and start documenting. Cheers Mr. Abell.
Sensational. "The photographic life is a rich life."
This would have to be one of the best promotional videos ever made. Congratulations.
What a video! Thank you very much, Mr. Abell!
Kudos Fuji. This is perhaps the best promotional video ever. It really touches the heart.
It's a very emotional promotional video. When I saw the last clip, I felt like crying for a moment.
Very artistic & poetic promo video. I’ve put on my pre order and this will be my first fuji camera.
My sony & canon are great for job wise but I need this to feel alive again.
Congratulations Fujifilm, Thank Sam, you sir have won the internet.
Fujifilm definitely knows how to advertise a camera. Lovely and peaceful videos lead you to buy a new product with no regrets. Good fuji, very good.
I am glad I chose Fuji of all the brands. This video is everything for me.
I'm totally touched. Wonderful!
Probably the best promotional video I ever seen. Well done Fuji.
Amazing that he was the only person ever to photograph that boys grandfather. What a wonderful treat for the boy to meet him.
this here why i choose to shoot with fuji - the detail, the composition, the art, the stories
I wasn’t expecting a new camera launch to hit me in the feels like that!!!
What a wonderful story, the fact it’s a promo fades away and you’re left in awe of how Sam approaches life. Something to aspire to for sure!
What an incredible film. Thank you Fujifilm.
I love Sam Abells photographys. Amazing person
The best Short documantery ive ever Seen !
I'm not crying, you are! This was great FUJIFILM, congrats! I'm still going strong with my x100v by the way
Absolutely tremendous. I love this so much. Inspiration isn’t even half of the feeling.
I wish more camera release promotional videos were like this. Beautiful. Well done Fujifilm
I know it’s a promotion for Fuji but this is good, good work Sam.
What a beautiful film in conversation, scenery and cinematography. It was truly inspiring to hear Sam speak but also to hear from the descendants of the woman and potter. とても素敵なCM、有難うございます。
Beautiful video. Photography is all about human connection ;)

15:34 absolute beautiful photograph and story
Congratulations for this promotional video. I loved the story behind the photos taken in 1980's and it was a special moment that reunion with the photographer and the granddaughter of the lady who was photographed back in the day.
Man... was not what I expected. What I got was heart warming, and an emotional look at what a life of passion could be,
This is the best Fujifilm video I have ever seen, of course it is to promote a camera, but it shows the reality of our lives, the deep meaning of what it means to live it, I love Sam's smile over the comments they make about the photographs and its connection with the past and present.
Better video than some of these Hollywood movies . As the comments have mention I forgot this was an ad.
Lovely. Sam is so wise and thoughtful. His photographs resonate. Well done, Fujifilm.
Wonderful video and wonderful memories from a great photographer. Enjoyed every second of watching it. Really reminded me of why I love being a photographer so much and why it’s so deeply connected to me.
