At some point it becomes a case of, if you want it done right, do it yourself. Would take 10 times longer and if you screwed up, you can't blame anyone else but yourself.
I was pressed for time and the trans went out of my dodge so I paid a shop $4700 to rebuild it, they had it done in 3 days, I was impressed until I was in the middle of death valley and the torque converter exploded filling the trans full of metal and basically locking the converter clutch on all the time. I basically had to neutral drop it at every stop to get it going while towing a trailer just to get it back to an area where I could get cell reception and call a tow truck. They did end up replacing it under warranty and it's been working semi okay for the past 2 years, but I'm currently building another one myself so I can swap it out when it does finally die.
the lack of pride in this industry is astonishing. i am not a professional mechanic but i once wanted to be. that being said i do most of my own work but whenever i paid someone professionally to do something i was never impressed with the quality and thought i could’ve done it better myself.
Good morning Steven The verse of the day Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1
Love your videos. I have a question. On your service truck. What procedure did you do to tighten rear hub nut. Getting ready to replace rear hub seal on my f250
Mine went out and then about 12,000 miles went out again and I’m wondering if that’s what happened in my case , it’s a 09 Ford F-250 6.4 deleted and am not sure if they replaced the cooler or not but cost the insurance company $7,500 and who knows how much now !
had a shop to do my up pipes on my 7.3, they made it even worse than before, and sent me off saying i was good to go! went to a more reputable shop, expensive as hell but they treat my truck like it actually mattered to them and told me everything about it that they found
you paid a fair price and should expect fair service, have you taken this info to the shop that did the work??, It's been a day or two since I've had one serviced/rebuilt and was not aware the cooler should or that it is recommended as a replacement part, just curious, this is one of the reasons I like to get everything in writing, hope you get a satisfactory outcome🙏

I agree with everything you said..... but is it possible the transmission shop flushed that cooler instead of replacing it? I realize that's not as good as replacing it but in my experience it's standard to flush the cooler, not replace it. Just my $.02
You still run the risk of shrapnel left behind that caught caught. Plus most places do not have a flush kit. These transmissions for servicing, drain the pan, remove pan, remove filters, clean pan, reseal pan, replace filters, install pan, refill, start engine, get trans fluid up to temp, add as needed, check for leaks, test drive, check fluid level, ship it out the door. Just better off replacing the cooler and lines just to be on the safe side.
@@Ratkill9000 Right. I get it. That's why I said "I realize it's not as good as replacing it". I know a guy who has owned a transmission shop for decades and he usually flushes the coolers. I have also heard of some transmission shops that will only replace coolers or they will not give a warranty with the transmission rebuild. Either way, something has to be done with the cooler. I guess it really depends on what the customer is willing to pay for. But obviously replacing it is the way to go.

Sad but true.

Cheap is expensive.

Thank you for sharing that lesson Stephen.
For shop I was in, we flushed them, but not the right way, they use atf only, no solvent, no variably vibration.

I have been putting a dot of nail polish on the side off a bolt to see if they have actually done something or replaced it

That’s enough to make anyone mad Can you threaten them with a law suit to make them redo everything and replace the trans cooler

I agree. Most pro transmission shops will have a machine that flushes them.
