I had to remove the entire dash to replace the AC evaporator. Problem is when I put it back together, the area where the light sensor is has the clip to secure the dash to the firewall. Apparently I missed and the dash rattles big time. Your video did great detail on how to remove the cover. I will address the rattle knowing exactly how to remove the dash pad. Great video (this from an EX GM mechanic)
I am going to use your video to attempt to put a new heater core in thru access of the top. This is not proper, but it will save my AC charge, plus days of labor. If I have to do some cutting to help removal, It will all be covered back up with all the top trim parts. I did a similar thing with a ford Taurus, and it shortened the nightmare by tens of hours. Thanks Froggy for getting me pointed in the right direction! You may have saved me thousands!
Thank you for sharing this!!. I'm trying to replace the daytime running light sensor in the top of my dash board cover and wasn't sure about the removal of the a/c vents, the grab handle and the pillar caps until I found your video....Again Thanks !!
How did it go Scott? Did you decided to remove the dashboard yourself? The airbag and the sensor are my concerns. I am going to try the (do it myself way) this week.
Very good Mr , thank you will replace my dash this week end very good video again thank you for your time in making this video for all of us to learn from
Very good explanation, it will help me a lot, I have a short yukon 2001, when I turn on my truck, smoke starts to come out of the vents above the dashboard.
Did you happen to notice if removing the dash cover gave better access to the Mode Actuator? I'm having a terrible time getting the rotating control plate back in. Mine came out with the old motor and I thought for awhile that they were glued together. But it turned out just to be a very tight fit. Tomorrow, I'm going to start taking the dash apart because I'm not able to put this pate back in from below.
Again, great video. I did the job using your tips. My dash was very weak and brittle and broke to pieces without the possibility of repair. I cannot find it anywhere. Do you know of any place where I can buy it?
Great video again Froggy! Looks like the oil pressure gauge is indicating pressure with the vehicle off so is you next job a oil pressure sending unit/sensor replacement? :)

Awesome. Thanks for putting the effort into making this!
Next time just disconnect the battery to avoid any issues with the airbag going off.

Look for a low miles junk yard dash.
They can be painted as needed.
Thanks a lot. That looked pretty easy.
So was it necessary to remove the airbag fuse.
I did not.
Glad I found your video you saved me a ton of time!
