All the comments from the clearly superior and more talented keyboard picklers aside - I loved watching this match Austin. You both played well, made lots of great shots and many errors too - just like in real life play - right all you keyboard picklers?! Looking forward to UA-cam videos of all the keyboard picklers fire matches. Let’s see them! Can hardly wait.
"Averee recently played against Anna Leigh Waters at PPA Mesa in the round of 16." Couldn't find this on dupr or that she even played in mesa on pickleball brackets.
you can play any sport at older age. of course, you are not likely to play competitively against substantially younger players. that is why in most sports there are age bands for competitive ranking purposes. take track and tennis as examples. beginning around 40, all the age bands are 5 year groups. within each age group, the dominant players are typically the youngest. *rarely* is there someone who is dominant while playing in a younger age group. technique and playing experience are *valuable* but, in a physical sport, being *physical* is the dominant factor and that is *highly* correlated with age. you can be physical at any age but you are quite unlikely to be as physical as you were 5 years ago. there exists a surprisingly large collection of super senior athletes in track and tennis and probably all non-collision sports. get out there and play!!!
Good Match and good playing. Missing a lot of returns and not getting depth of the ones that were in, cost you a lot of points, otherwise you game looks very solid.
Was she over powered ? She has big shot but missed so many serves and groundies long. That under forehand doesn’t get enough topspin. Maybe she was off maybe over hitting because of the opponent. Both great players.
@@niniyaya7392it looks like his front foot is on the line before hit hits the ball. He then hits the ball before stepping outside the kitchen again. If he had stepped out of the kitchen with both feet on the ground before hitting the ball it would have been ok, but he didn’t.
Austin’s foot was on the line when he went up for the lob. His foot may have slid back out of the kitchen as part of his swing, but you have to clearly “re-establish” your feet outside the kitchen before hitting the ball out of the air. From what I’ve seen in PPA events on UA-cam, the refs don’t typically acknowledge the slide out of the kitchen as re-establishing outside the kitchen, but not sure why. The USA pickleball rule book says, “9.D. If a player has touched the non-volley zone for any reason, that player cannot volley a return until both feet have made contact with the playing surface completely outside the non-volley zone. A maneuver such as standing within the non-volley zone, jumping up to hit a volley, and then landing outside the non-volley zone is a fault.”
yeah? because there's lots of ex tennis pros who aren't even top 100 in pickleball. Ben Johns played tennis but not at the pro level and he beats ex tennis pros every time.
@@nuclearmusic77 imagine if they played pickleball in their tennis prime years. stop talking non sense, anyone can play pickleball not much skill is needed. Dont get mad bc its the only sport you can "play".
I’m no expert but consider this: you were playing like you were playing doubles- always right up to the kitchen line. When I play doubles I stay back a bit more. Notice how often you opponent played in the middle (no man’s land) or even all the way back at the serving line. Singles is a bit more like tennis that way. Am I wrong? Like I said I am no expert!
Singles pickleball is very interesting. If you watch women’s they tend to stay back a bit more because they can’t cover as much court. If you watch men’s Pro they return and volley (return and run to the kitchen line). Check out some pro singles PPA matches and you’ll become an expert pretty quick!
Depends on the ball. If I hit a good deep return that moves my opponent or puts a lot of pressure on them, I go in. If my ball is short or weak, I stay back.
Seriously I don't know how this can be a sport. It's really just a recreational thing to do. I played it 5 times and I'm a 4.0. People take this game way too seriously. Anyone with an intermediate tennis background and 1 year of playing should be a 5.0
You and I can walk and walking is not even recreational, but that does not mean we will be top 10% at a walking competition (just an guestimate, maybe even fewer than 10% of PB players are 5.0). There are tons of PB players with tennis background like you. So it's like walking, you have to beat all these folks to get to 5.0. And that's not simple task. I'm pretty good at tennis too and have been playing PB for 3 months now, and barely get to 4.0. Post your DUPR or it's just all talk.

Glad you enjoyed it! I appreciate it haha
Seems like a lot less swearing than when I play. 😂😂
😂😂😂 best comment
That was awesome to see. Thanks for sharing. Great game play!
Glad you enjoyed it! More to come!
Very fun to watch. Singles PB is my preference and it is fun to see how my game stacks up against others.
Yeah it really is! Glad you enjoyed it

It was actually Phoenix PPA on February 1st. She lost 0-11, 8-11
Wow! Great play! She is a great player also. I think the difference was her out serves.
Yeah she’s super good!
I think the real beauty of this sport is that you can play it all the way to old age. You can’t say that about any other sport except running.
True! Tennis you can play doubles till your very old, but not singles
Golf, swimming, biking
True. I’m sure there are others too. I think his point is how easy it is on your body. While at the same time utilizing tons of movement.

Nice!
bruh lol
I know you hid the black cat somewhere. It cursed the pro. Good job! Haha!
Haha you know it!
what DUPR level is this? I just signed up for a singles tournament, i have never played singles before.
5.0 for the guy and 5.5 for the girl

Yeah we both need to work on our returns! Especially in the wind
Easy to learn hard to master!!!
You got that right!
where was this played?? Cool courts!
Utah!
Where in Utah?
the difference was physicality - speed. speed kills.
🙌🙌👟
is she using the crbn 14mm?
Yes she was!
Girls vs boys not comparable/ fair game.
I agree. Except I’d get smoked by AL haha!
@@pickleballplaybookas many men do. AL practice partner is Christian Alshon #5. So there’s that 😉
At least you let her win one.
🤣 good one!
Whoops I thought this was a sports vid
💋💋💋
I don't see very much dinking and resetting going on - like Ben Johns games. This looks more like a tennis match then pickleball.
This is singles. Women don’t really do cat and mouse.
@@pickleballplaybook This is true. I wonder why not
What paddle is she playing with?
CRBN 13mm!
Pretty good man 👍 just those pesky returns here and there
Definitely need to improve return unforced errors!
Very good level

Thanks brotha! 💪 💪💪
Return misses were killing you, otherwise super solid all around.
Yeah, we both need to improve our returns for sure! 👌
Nice win, but she ain't exactly ALW.
She lost 0-11, 8-11 against ALW. She pretty good! The finals of the Pheonix PPA ALW won 11-1, 11-2 against Mary Brescia.
@@pickleballplaybook She must have had on off day. She didn't look that good here

If you're going to charge every time you can't be missing easy volleys
Very true! Gotta sharpen up our volleys on the stretch 🔥
No disrespect but can you compare? That's the reason there are many brackets.
You can definitely compare. We just did it haha.
Lots of unforced errors by the female pro. She missed way to many serves and return of serves during this match.
It’s definitely a different pace!
