If Amrik can fix Chris Olson’s counters I’ll make him the head coach of all of my clinics, and I’ll be the assistant
You’re going to have to define “fixed”. I’ll stop reviewing paddles for 6 months to make this happen. 😂
Haaa haaa he also replace my Dad. Sometimes I watch these instructions I am just in shock how
This guy needs his own instructional channel... great lesson.
Agree, what a fantastic instructor!
One of the best videos you have ever made. Please make more of them
Amrik was great. Should definitely have his own tutorial channel.
Chris, this lesson is going into your Hall of Fame videos with your Two Handed Backhand lesson. Both incredible gems, so much information!!!
Amrik is a great coach with an excellent observation! Thanks for making this video! It will be great if you both can make more videos
Chris, look at the shape of his 'hand' at the finish after contact and compare that to yours. You have a twist, almost slice motion through contact vs. block and push. Because of that, you feel the need to make a swing, as it's the only way for you to come 'over' the ball to hit down. It would be interesting if you took a video of yourself going between a reset and a counter. See of the wrist movement is similar and if your 'finish' shape is optimal for accuracy and pace. Great job...thanks for sharing. Sent it to over 30 people already!
I've also recently discovered that staying low isn't just useful at the kitchen. If you have trouble returning low hard hit serves, the simple act of lowering your viewpoint down closer to the level of the ball makes it sooo much easier to handle.
Thirds are easier too if you get low
Right on. This is why tennis pros lower their bobies when returning first serves.
You need to stay low for every shot but overheads. Makes the game way easier
I’ve also found this to be very true. Bad knees makes it more challenging, but rewarding when it can done.
I love this game!!!!
As are resets@@user-oo9hr6xx9q
Your instructor gives real-world instruction. I like the "leaning back" critique. He should have his own instructional videos. He's that good.
Thanks Chris! Please keep sharing this type of content, it helps us all.
As an older player with sore knees, to hear a pro tip that doesnt involve tons of footwork is heavenly! Nose over toes and don’t move your feet as much! I can do that.
This is one of the best pb vids I've watched. Seems like 90% of instructional vids focus on the same things... Just different YT'ers saying the same stuff. This one presented very specific actions to take and the reason behind those actions as well what to look for to initiate the counter. 👍🏾
Great presentation! I particularly like the high resolution slow-mo close-up comparison shots.
I love the hardball drill, staying low and leaning into the counter. Great tips and thank you for putting yourself out there for us!
100% agree
Loved this video. I think you do an amazing job of editing these longer lessons so we still get a lot of details but there aren’t large sections that are redundant. Also like your additional commentary
Spot on!
Along with your two hand backhand lesson with Aanik Lohani, this will become another of my most repeatedly watched lessons. Great stuff!
Absolutely loved this video!! The clear concise instruction without being too verbose was amazing!
The best video I have seen on fear with drives/speed ups! Great teacher!
Dud!!!!
This is the absolute best instructional vid I’ve seen concerning this discipline for NVZ counter technique. RELATABLE TOPIC for everyone.
AWESOME!!!!!
Thank you both for sharing.
Thanks Chris! We used this in our drill group - really helped.
Wow great breakdown of the counter, best I've seen!
Amrik is one of the nicest guys in pickleball!!! Awesome video!!
Chris, your approach to improvement in this video is excellent. I especially like the counter drill where they feed you a slower ball to work on form and the idea of putting a water bottle behind your feet to help prevent movement. Thanks for sharing! It's given me some ideas for improving my own counters.
You blew this out of the water! Clear concise analysis that will help anyone. Just the get low, legs made a difference for me. (As long as I could keep focused on those-got to work on that). Well done. Pickle on!
Great teacher and great lesson. Thanks for sharing
Amazing instructional video, I learned so much from this video. Thanks Chris & Amrik!!!
This is a very helpful video.
Honestly so many helpful things that are applying to my game. Would love to see more content like this. Let’s get Chris to 4.0!
Chris, I have watched most of your videos and this one has been the most helpful of all. Would love to see more videos like this. Thanks for all of the effort you put into your videos.
Amrik is a solid coach! Enjoyed his teaching and would love to see more of this guy. I have a similar issue when blocking or countering. Also tend to pop the ball up on those :/
Chris. Love this. I will be watching this several times trying to implement. Keep ‘em coming!
Dude this guy's teaching is amazing!
Fantastic tutorial, and Amrik is great. More like these please!
Excellent instruction. Instructional and points well noted.
Excellent lesson! Gonna work on this tomorrow :)
Thank you so much for this video! The instruction was amazing. Well done!
Fantastic video. Thank you Chris and Amrik!
Incredible lesson. Thank you for sharing
What an outstanding lesson! Thanks so much!
Wow. Crazy to see the improvement. Great instruction
Fantastic content and instructor!
On point, great lesson!
When volleying / punching, in additional to the leaning forward and keeping your swing to a minimum, also notice his feet and leg position, they are much more bent than yours. Getting low and being able to spring upwards and forward (from the lean) is where all of his body mechanics works in sync of each other to generate the power, which is why he doesn't need to do a pull back big swing. You also need to add the mindset of being ready to pounce and counter each ball hit by your opponent. Any of his balls should be expected to be a speedup. Having your body in that bent and lower position will help you anticipate and react to a potentially speed up, but it can also give you the upper edge on attacking a back return. It works both ways.
Excellent video, something we all need to work on!
One of your best. These instructional videos are great.
This video was amazing!! Great insight! Would love to see more like this!
Thank you for sharing. It's very helpful to me.
Fantastic lesson! Thanks!
Great video Chris. Thanks.
Awesome video, very informative. Thank you!
Great video!!! So many great learning moments! Be brave!
Great video Chris! Love the info in this - love to see more content like this is the future. Thanks for sharing!
Very very very helpful!
Gracias!
Fantastic instructional video! Thank you for this!
Yes! This was great. Reminds me of the two handed backhand video that I also loved. More of this please.
Interesting observations and lesson cues. Gonna have to try this.
What a great video! I too struggle with my counters and the way in which this was delivered definitely opened my eyes to a lot of things I’m doing incorrectly. I can’t wait to get back out on the court to practice this.
Excellent drill. Thanks
Thanks for the video!
Incredible video - thank you
Great video, thanks!
Great video topic!
Great video, learned so much most make more of these videos❤❤❤
Thanks! This was a fantastic reminder on some things I need to drill.
Awesome thanks!!
Wow 🤩 wow 🤩 wow 🤩 fantastic details, keep this kind coming !
Great video. Love the lesson with a pro.
Thanks Chris and Amrik for a great video/teaching tool! I'm very new to Pickleball, and I know I make many of the same mistakes, as well as others. Now I understand the imortance of bending my knees and really getting low, leaning forward and being ready, and not leaning back. Can't wait to try the corrections on the court! Also, the explanation of Ben Johns movement taking dinks on court was very helpful. I'm in Cuenca, Ecuador and don't have all the resources available, that we're used to in the US. There are quite a few hard core picklers here, but we have to broom, sweep, and groom (blow leaves) our 3 courts every day.
Thank you. Amrik is really great instructor!
I've seen just about every video that you have ever done and this one was the best of all of them... thank you
this lesson is awesome thanks
great instructional vid
The instruction from this pro is amazing. Learned a ton.
now I get what everyone was talking about, this is great
Great stuff
Happy would do this in a batting cage. Great lesson Chris. The details were very clear.
Killer video. Keep them coming. Wish I was near where you are to get lessons with these outstanding pros.
very helpful video.
Great video Chris something we can all learn from. Best in the business!!!
Love this one.
This is one of the best coaching videos I've seen. Loved this one and the one on the twoey. Keep doing those, Chris! Also helps to know your weaknesses so I can beat you when I finally play you. :)
I appreciate the honesty and humility of your learning process. This alone is a good lesson for all of us. Really interesting thoughts about the relationship between conservation of motion and readiness. Thank you.
Wow what a phenomenal video, congrats 👏
What a great instructor.
Great video Chris
Really enjoyed this video. I am having the same problems of moving my feet too much and not getting low enough too. Looks like more things to work on, but it should help my game with my counters and letting lower out balls go out. Thank you, Chris and Amrik.
Thanks! This was quite helpful and a great mini lesson. Get your boy to do more coaching videos with you.
Great Vid!!
First 20min vid I didn't skip!
Love this video
Really great video! I like that your doing more instructional types and not just paddle reviews. I think your analytical approach to pickleball and receiving instruction makes for a very insightful video. Amrik is also very good and clear in his instruction and good on video. The two of you make a great instructional pair.
S-tier video! Love the coaching videos and like that you highlight different pros in each of them. Need a Robert Slutsky diving atp tutorial next!
Great video
This was great, so many things I see I am doing wrong. Great job Chris from a fellow 3.5 at Best :)
Good video. Very valuable instructions. You can use the same techniques for tennis too.
This was really good!
I'm super tall, and I have to use a deep knee bend all the time. Not usually on the 4th shot, but on other shots, it's a major factor in my play whether I expend a lot of time to go full "down elevator", which really anchors my feet to the ground (sometimes too much), or whether I opt for only a partial knee bend. Shoulder down to just above the net cord is almost a full 90 degree knee bend in my case. Burn those quads, as my coach used to say, applies double to a sky hook.
I felt like I was in the lesson thanks so much for posting! Subscribed!!
Great video! I have awesome counters but hit a lot of out balls I like how squatting a bit helps you identify those
Great drill
