Each week, Michael pranks an unsuspecting member of the public into appearing on stage and becoming the star of the show, signing off the show by singing to the enormous audience packed into Theatre Royal.
David thinks he's come to London to buy a walking frame, but he's about to meet actor Lionel Blair, when the prank goes wrong with hilarious results!

Filmed in front of a live audience at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, the show is packed with celebrity guests, musical performances, stand-up comedy and surprises.

We loved watching this. I can only begin to imagine how much meaning this song must have to him by the time you have reached the age of 92. Good on him. What a champion.

Reading some of the more negative comments about this video:- I didn't realise that Michael McIntyre was now in competition with Britians got Talent and The X Factor!! Some of his Unexpected Star of the Show participants may not have been outstanding singers - but it gives them their chance to shine. It's really great!! Listening to this, as well as others that have been Unexpected Star of the Show in the past:- most have certainly been better than some famous singers, who get paid millions - for the tripe they belt out.

I didn't read down enough to see any negative comments. Sure, he wasn't great, but he loved what he was doing. For awhile there, I was thinking the show was rigged with everyone nailing their songs, I appreciate David's performance more than any of the others, because he obviously has a love for music. He was singing in the store!
the problem is that none of it is real, as he porttrays it. it's selling fake stories based on human emotion, which is cheap in my opinion
@@MrJammyGel its a right mix of plan and surprise which makes it great entertainment. And that's all we wanted in the end. I don't want this show to end because for some nitwit botching it as much as i don't want it be too mainstream, planned gig. a good balanced show he got there. bravo McIntyre.
@@MrJammyGel where do you get that none of it is real? All those who are selected have been nominated by family members months in advance, and I'm sure there are some forms of audio or video clips involved, to insure that the person being selected has some musical talent or ability in some way.
Nice to see something worth watching. No fakeness, just genuine emotions from all involved. Very touching. It's left me with a big smile and a warm heart.
It reminds me that "you should always respect your elders" is a phrase not uttered enough nowadays in my opinion.
This video set a great example of how respect should be shown. All involved should be very proud.

Talk about bawling 😭😭😭. Wasn't he just fantastic. You could tell how much it means to him. They're is something magical about seeing someone who has lived a long life sing a song, as the listener you don't just get a song you get a story and a world of emotions. So glad I clicked the link I still have a lump in my throat. ❤️

I'm a bit late to the party here but my grandad was exactly the same as yours he was a real joker and good singer to boot but he died in a house fire with his wife my Grandma who both of them was burnt alive 😩
What a precious gentleman. His voice was fantastic. It is hard to believe he was almost 92 at the time of recording. Thank you, Michael, for giving this young man a chance to shine like a star on your stage.
Hello from the U.S.A.. This was a wonderful surprise and done with dignity and respect for the gentleman. The humor was genuine. Yes, his generation got us through WW2 and they did it their way. Thank you.
Excuse me? In 1939 when WW2 started he would have been 12 years old so I doubt he got anyone through it or did it his way.

And to be pedantic back at him, in the final year of the war, in 1945 he would have been 18 so may well have served for a short time as there was a compulsory draft for all men over 18 in Britain.
In any case, it was indeed his generation, in the same way that my brother who is four years older than me is still consider to be part of the same generation as me!
@@Makeyourselfbig at the beginning of the war yes he was born the same year as the Queen Elizabeth he would have been 18 in 1944 and may have been part of D-day which was 6th June 1944. the Queen was a mechanic in the War joined the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II. Known as Second Subaltern Elizabeth . so I think that what Anne Meant.
@@simonebye4402 If he's 91 then he was born in 1927. So in 1939 he was 12. The war ended in August 1945 six years later so he would have been 18 at best. Virtually the entire war he was under age.
I will truly admit i literally cried when he started singing. He has a beautiful voice.
Just a year ago I was in Cwaman, South Wales to celebrate Davids birthday with both Chris & Tim. I video-d his party and next day was sitting with him whilst everyone went off somewhere. I put the camcorder on the table and told David I wanted to record him talking about his life ( ie, the 1930s great cycle ride out of depressed Wales to Slough). For 20 minutes I asked a few questions & he talked fluidly & lucidly......one take, no editing, I put it onto DVD for him & future generations...….
Not too many people are gifted with both physical and mental health at that age!
Brilliant. That is the greatest treasure a person can have. I wish I could hear and see my granddad again. He was an amazing person and a great pianist.

Oh bless him. As he was singing I was thinking of all the things he's seen. The stories he could tell. No one in my family has lived that long to tell. I wish him nothing but joy and blessings as he continues to do it his way.
With so many WWII veterans and those belonging to the greatest generation passing away, I think the same thing. So much knowledge gone and it saddens me.

There are Some People on here saying He can't sing he may even say himself he can't sing , But that not the Point it about fulfilling his Dream to sing to an Audience and that it made him happy, and I remember someone Once told me the best Gift you can give someone is making other people Happy. and the song was perfect for him as he 92 years of age sing about in all his 92 years he done it his Way. I cried at this, he reminds me of my great grandfather who I lost a year ago. He would also randomly burst into song and when I was a baby he would sing me to sleep. I treasure the memories and time we had together ❤

When I understood what shape he was in as a 91 year old like how the human body just falls apart I was worried he was gonna have a heart attack but he did really well coping with stage fright and he sung that song really well
Regardless of how would musicians rate David's singing, by a clear mile this cover was so beautiful and I didn't want it to end. Hats off to Michael for such amazing episode, and respect to the audience for granting the well deserved standing ovation.
