Vinyl Wrap Your Brake Calipers?! | DIY Tutorial

- I vinyl wrapped my brakes almost 2 years ago, however I wasn't very happy with how they turned out. But with the evolution of wrap material and how it has gotten better and easier to work with I figured I would give it another shot. The new material I used is only 2mil thickness vs the 7mil thickness of the previous wrap. I think it turned out pretty well, what do you guys think?!

Now that might be something to try. Looks great. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. You convinced me to try wrapping......... so informative.
glad to help!
Excellent tutorial. Thank You
Following you from RPM but I have a Hyper Blue Camaro SS and I want to do my breaks this color…. Can’t wait to do mine…. Also seen you change the color of the brakes on a episode and the green looked the best I felt..
That's too cool. Just heard about wrapping calipers. Would of never even thought of it. You did a great job! Awesome look. Looks time consuming and tedious, but worth it for price. And I love testing my patience. Lol.
Like you said with traditional ways.. disassembly, car tied up etc. what a pain in ass.
Thank you! having painted calipers before it actually is faster and less messy. Think about it you don't have to tape off areas or clean over spray. Prep is about the same.
Use a 9mm snap blade to cut and if any of the material "fingers" make sure to trim it back because that will be the first point of failure.
great job.
I am currently using Plastidip on my Calipers and it's been holding up very well. The wrap is a good idea, I never knew they made high heat wrap for calipers. Good video 👌
hmm I didn't think Plastidip was mean't to withstand high heat like that, interesting.
The coolest thing that I never knew. Did this bright color stay ture? Or did it start to change?
Yup still as bright and green and looks as good as the day I did it!
Still happy with the wrap? Looking to try the same vinyl (Atomic/Lime Green) on my Silver Metallic Tesla Model 3 to add a little touch of color. The gunmetal Aero wheels should be a nice contrast to the bright green wrap. :)
yup still love it! still looks awesome!
For the sticker part do you know what type of vinyl that is?
it's just normal vinyl, it will hold up just fine. Even when people powder coat calipers they use just regular vinyl for the sticker.
Thanks, from the Netherlands. Soon I’m gone wrap my motorcycle brake caliper. #peterscrambler
glad to help!
Wow if you can wrap this I'm sure I should be able to wrap my bikes exhaust heat shield 🤔
I thought of doing this but I would rather take the caliper off, would that be a problem?
nope not at all prob easier to wrap.
Sorry I kept saying rotors obviously I mean't calipers
It's been over a year for the wrapping calipers how does it hold up?
2 + years now holding up great!!
How long do wrapped calipers usually last?
Depends on the wrap, depends on the prep, but mine are holding up great 2 + years later.
You wrapped 4 calipers with a single 24"x24" (2x2) foot piece of vinyl?
Yes, with some left over.
2+ years later... How is this application holding up? Any suggestions on your experience with this product?
Holding up great actually! I replaced both the front and rear brake pads so the only change is the hole for the pin had to be cut around other than that perfect.
How long did it took to wrap all 4 calipers?
actual wrap time, not including jacking each side of the vehicle up and taking the wheel off maybe 1 hour. 15-20 mins per caliper.
Where did u find it be reflective wrap at that’s dope!
I show exactly what it is in the video, but be warned it's very hard to work with.
What wrap held up better the reflective or the green kind
@@isaiahvazquez938 The green vivvid is holding up great 2 + years later the reflective did not.
How much do I need to order to cover each caliper?
I went over all of that in the video. I show exactly how much I ordered for all 4
Is vvivid reflective as well ?
no
Won't hard braking heat up the vinyl and ruin it?
Normal Vinyl yes. But as mentioned this is high temp vinyl designed for the heat.
How are they holding up 4years later?
Fantastic, not like the crappy yellow reflective stuff. When I clean them it looks like the day I wrapped them.
$40 per caliper or the whole car? Looks to me like per caliper. Thanks for the vid. Just found out about wrapping calipers, I'm really interest. Thanks!
Joseph Citizen419 did you watch? It's $40 for 2 feet by 2 feet which I say is enough to do all 4
Must have missed it. How is this new wrap holding up now?
Joseph Citizen419 great so far no issues or cracking looks brand new when I wash my wheels
+Bsaint. Thanks for the reply man.
I caught a lot of shit for even _mentioning_ wrapping calipers on my cars forum. So now, of course lol, I'm torn between painting and wrapping. Why did you wrap instead of paint? Anything you would have done different?
no worries, and I wrapped over paint because as mentioned in the video If/when I trade the car in for a newer one I don't want to have a dealer or future buyer bitch about lime green paint on the calipers lol It's not exactly a flashy car so most people buying them don't want all that. Wrap can be changed, swapped out color changed in few hours. Paint and powder coat can not.
Nice*
convinced me not to try wrapping.
Let me tell you that after wrapping my car myself for the second time I’m confident in telling people to give it a try or two, honestly for about 500 dollars worth of material for 3m it’s not bad for one attempt considering most places are not cheaper than 2k per wrap
make it with electroluminiscent paint .look on Facebook Lumilor Romania
I was told that when you get the caliper wrapped that it starts making noises like someone putting a nail to the chalkboard… so now I’m debating on doing this or not.. anyone ever heard of this happening ?
Deff not, I've wrapped mine twice and never had any noise. Who ever told you that improperly wrapped theirs and probably left extra material touching the pad or rotor.
@@Bsaint what about with the paint ? What’s the pros n cons to having it done ?
I talk about it in the video
What’re your thoughts on caliper covers ? Like or dislike?
HUGE dislike, they are horrible, tacky, cheap and try to pretend they are something they are not. Stock brakes look better than caliper covers.
I bought plain caliper covers but I want to put a decal on them, what do you recommend? Thanks for your help.
I don’t recommend caliper covers
Nicr
I just use CHEAP - TREMCLAD OIL PAINT !!! $ 15 bucks at Home Depot
Brush on - Holds uo Fine !!!
a Good Caliper Does not get too hot
That's up to you, but I explain the benefits of this such as easily changing the color down the road and or removing it when selling.
Do you buy 2x2 for each caliper?
Isaiah Vazquez all 4
1 order of 2x2 fits all 4?
Isaiah Vazquez omg
Right u should be more clear bro
No you're a moron, watch the video and listen I answer it completely.
Vivid is easy to apply but it’s not reflective
How much does a service like this cost
This is a DIY video aka showing you how to do it yourself, simply purchase whatever vinyl you want and try it out.
Why you have wolswagen but u put porch sticker lol ricer
Beck Benz can you even spell? Btw VW owns Porsche dumb ass
@@Bsaint that doesn't means vw can have porch things lol just like Toyota and Lexus
this guy seems sus. i clik away at 3:20
It works!
Porsche stickers on a VW? Hahaha
Guess you didn’t watch at all huh? The fact that VW owns Porsche and the Touareg and Porsche Cayenne are built in the same factory and share a lot of parts including the brakes.
Bsaint no shit sherlock, even though they share the same parts doesnt mean it gives any sense to brand it when its not for a porsche
Oh so because the Porsche Cayenne has the same brakes down to the part number I'm not allowed to put a Porsche sticker on it? solid logic. How about the logic where its my car and I'll do what I want. You do what you want with your pile of shit kthxbye
el video esta buenísimo, pero que insoportable la voz!!!!! lo tuve que ver en mute
