This is stunningly professional. This is a process that can take months. These guys do it in a day, TWICE! And it's absolutely killer. Shows you how good they are, these are true musicians. Stunning.
Oh boy let me tell you, a basic understanding of music theory and settling for decent riffs could do some wonders! Creativity works so differently once you put a hard limit like the time allowed to work on it. If you play guitar like I do, a good idea might be changing the tuning to less conventional one (like from standard to a open maj7 tuning), if you play piano maybe ONLY use chord inversions for a song to see how that changes things. The idea would be to make your usual playing style and just kinda turn it on its head to help you get out of a creative rut or just you get in a different headspace for writing
Don’t think, sometimes it’s just that easy, even if you’re not fluent in your instrument, play your 1 4 5 6 chord progression, and put down the first Melody that comes to mind, let it be bad if it’s bad, and if it’s good, then that’s great. Just make music, have fun, don’t stress out. I find, when I write things, I always use a funny voice, and just make sounds, then when I track them with an instrument, or try ACTUALLY sing them, the melodies sometimes aren’t terrible. Honestly, just do whatever. Even try writing stuff to those bad ideas, because you might end up coming up with a lyric to use in a different song. 👌🏽👌🏽
@@chrisfontaine6518 I know this comment is kinda old but it's still inspiring. Mind you, they might have time stretched it to fit EXACTLY on the beat, but even then, the video proved that it's on time enough for them to probably not have time stretched it.
But I ain't here to argue, just want to get my point acrosssssss
@@SaintGwithian so you're admitting they edited/quantized it to make it on time, but at the same time you're saying it's probably not. Sorry, I don't enjoy arguing with bipolars
This is stunningly professional. This is a process that can take months. These guys do it in a day, TWICE! And it's absolutely killer.
Shows you how good they are, these are true musicians. Stunning.
It is amazing how quickly Andrew writes decent lyrics.
That's his bottleneck too, that just makes me admire the rest so much more.
14:08 i got a bunch of costumes dude, everything you could want, what do you want?
I’d like to be a turtle

I don’t have that.
"Get out of here Gregory" made me laugh way too hard, I love that song!

Man I've honestly just had the hardest time even writing any melodies or chord progressions and this is inspiring
Nick you got this! Keep makin music my dude
I just wrote a song that gives you a big fat warm hug and hypes you up for the fun of life, so it's really simple and I was thinking of adding and changing some things to make it more complex, but I think it's fine the way it is.
@@KeWDu That's great!! Are you planning on posting it anywhere, I'd love to hear what you've been working on. 😊😊
Every year they make a few songs that stand out as literal bangers that honestly deserve some form of music award. This year it was "Do You Want To?"
That first song had me on the brink of tears. The true spirit and joy of making music, song making can feel like a chore. I love you guys
Wow that engineer is a total legend. How many recording engineers can do a job like this in a single day, working around the actual composition of the songs? Not many, I'll bet!
First of October releases albums more frequently than some real bands.
Higher quality too
@@BaconPiano Its legit true. They should like properly dedicate time for a real album.

Valerie is such a good tune!! I would have loved a dominant chord in the chorus, but it's still very good like that! Great job in making these one day albums
VALERIE HAS NO RIGHT TO BE THIS EMOTIONAL
“Ravioli” almost sounds like a Primus song.
banana banana terracotta banana terracotta teracotta pie!
I was thinking system of a down with the la la la laa laaaas
@@JamesRamboPearce definitely would make a great SOAD song. add some more distortion, throw in some screams and you're golden
Not enough bass
Yeah, it's definitely styled pretty much exclusively after System of a Down.
If this doesn't become a musical I'll be pissed off
It's about a girl named Valerie who moved to a big city on the first of October, roommates with a goofy door to door salesman called Greg, and she meets her friend ben whos got a crush on her. will they, won't they? tears will be shared, hilarity will ensue, ravioli not bought in this season's new Hit Musical. the first of October
@@zamissocool Amazingly perfect plot. We've done the hard work now!! Now Andrew and Rob get to it!
Mann I really like this, I hope this yearly project keep happening
Rob's singing has come on so much since the last album! I'm actual blow away at how good he is!!
Currently going through a breakup. Thank you guys, this album has really brightened my day. Much love!
Next up: a collab video where you both review and comment one or both of these videos, and give some insight into final thoughts and things you would’ve done differently

Is Valerie the Don't Go sequel, both thematically and narratively? Like, after she left in don't go, he sings this one?
Well thought...

Woo! I'm so glad this has returned, I still listen to the other album! I think my favorite this time around is Ravioli. Last time it was Rollerblading, so maybe I just really like songs with R titles XD
The difference between the album covers is hilarious.
Wow man, "Valerie" is insane. Jeez.
Gotta say, the first track 'The First of October' is a beautiful song!
It's right up there with Rollerblading as one of those songs that I just can't help but sing along to. You just wanna belt it out! What an anthem!
They oughta bring in Dave & Roomie next year. I miss when they all used to collab together.

This one was even better than the last one! My favourites are Ravioli, Climb that Moutain and Do You want to.
I, and I cannot stress this enough, NEED an animation for Thirty-First of October. Please make this happen.
Finally, a sequel song to Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day. Can't believe how long that guy must have slept
That opener is oddly similar to “Dear Prudence” and/or “I am Beautiful!” And then ya went to a sort of ShowTunes feel! Love it! And then a bit of a Panic at the Disco feel!
“Ravioli” was a nice toned down System of a Down feel! ❤️❤️❤️
Fun fact. Do You Want To is a song about Rob wanting to go skate with his friend.
Listening to Climb that Mountain on Oct 1st 2021 knowing they're recording a new album today makes me optimistic about the future. It's gonna be great, ya'll. 💖
Gregory, you can't just show up at my house, that's really weird.
Without asking first . . .
He tried to represent his car insurance previously, but was rebuffed on that occasion.
LOVE-THIS-ALBUM! Phenomenal! Valerie brought me to tears...I connected with that one. Lost love is the worst. But, I found it cathartic at any rate. Thanks Guys.
The real masterpiece is We Didn't Have Time to Get Lyrics on This One. It speaks to people out there who have a hard time putting their thoughts to words. I am moved by this eloquently written piece
