- Giving my instruments to strangers, whoever I find in the woods, talented musicians, or simply anyone who will jam with me.
UA-camrs that got instruments (in order of appearance):
Jacob Reinhart - October 1 Flying V
Will he cover a song from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater using it?
/ @jacobreinhart8078
Mark Schmidt - Ravioli can from album cover
Will he cook the ravioli even though it's expired?
And yes, ravioli is an instrument. I only had that one guitar from FOO I could part with, but I wanted to shout out Mark anyway since he's done the most FOO covers.
/ @markschmidttherecover...
AthenA - Every Fret Ghost Fret
Will he now be invisible? Since, you know he has the ghost fret powers now...
/ @athenaofficialchannel
Twooba - Rain Washburn
Will she make a video about getting it? Yes, yes she will. It's right here!
• I was in a Rob Scallon...
Ryan "Fluff" Bruce - Banjo
Will he lead the banjo metal revolution?

Rob bringing his mom with him so he doesn't feel creepy is singlehandedly the most wholesome thing I have ever witnessed in my life
*_Yeah, I probably would have brought my uncle who’s on probation._*
absolutely wholesome
Yeah but also teaching the guy new skate tricks, had me smiling the whole time🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I can't think of anything that tops it for me
Made me happy made me smile
“I felt weirded out asking a 20 year old girl to come to an empty parking lot, being a 30 year old man, so I brought my mom”
Rob Scallon promoting only the best behavior for youtube 🤟
such an excellent solution
Also reminding the young lady at GC she was on camera, and not showing the giveaway inside the daycare with the kids. Ola Englund never shows his kids' faces onscreen. Leo shows his girl, but she appears to be fully aware she's performing in a music video. Rob's level of discretion is the best behavior.
Wow
What if he kidnapped her instead. Peaky blinders action
He did that with twooba
"Is this gonna blow up on me?"
Rob: "No, we're just youtubers"
Rob, that was exactly the reason he asked
lol.
As a woman, I really appreciate that you recognise how strange it is to ask a girl to come meet you in the middle of night at an abandoned parking lot. But also, I would 100% come meet you in the middle of the night at any strange location alone.
Why is it any different for a woman?

Sometimes life is just hilarious.
Yeah but by featuring them in his video he likely helped them sell more than you think.
The dude learning to grind the rail just to make his wife happy is really wholesome
Ngl before I watched this video I thought this meant something completely different
the fact that he kept doing it after getting the guitar was really cool too. you could tell he was happy to just learn something new
that man was out there for hours. what a guy
I recently learned that he's still skating today. During a livestream interview with a Chicago area skater, I asked if he ever skated with Rob and he said yes, then immediately started talking about this video and Renee. Apparently there's a monthly meet-up and he's always there.
It legitimately brings me to tears. That's pure love
I love how Rob meets people in the middle of the woods and parking garages in the middle of the night and they're all for it
But a Guitar Center in the middle of the day is where people draw the line and get weirded out
He maybe just got unlucky and the people he asked were all beginners or not at the stage where they’re comfortable jamming in public……I remember when I was like that, lol.
I’d go to buy a guitar, play 2 notes then buy it……Now I try everything in the store and end up in there playing guitars for hours 🤣
They're probably thinking "well, I want a free guitar just not THAT guitar"
But when they're in the woods their choice is a free guitar or a tree
@@kilgoretrout321
I’d have taken a free Schecter Diamond series guitar……..They’re decent guitars and this one was free.
It’s a free $600 guitar ffs.

Should be a sociology experiment to try explain this human oddity
The last guy deserves the guitar; he worked hard to earn it. Also, Rob - super nice of you to give away such awesome instruments for free.
I haven't watched a Rob video in months. This one brought a tear to my eye. What a lovely thing to do for his community
Me too, man! Absolutely loved it.

im too tired and jaded to initially admit im that tired and jaded

the rollerblading part was great to watch! The joy of teaching and watching someone improve is so good
I love how you not only gave away you guitars but also helped him learn to skate to get it.
That was the best part of the video. Seemed like an all day lesson!
And then filmed him so his wife could see him skate ;)
all the people that doesn't live near rob: pain

Ya pretty much
My dad literally lives 7 minutes from the guitar center he was at but I don’t have Twitter and didn’t know he was goin there 😭
I like how out of the three guys you called two of them got guitars and one got an expired can of ravioli
Rob- this truly warms my heart. This will be used to show (possible) future generations that there were good people roaming the earth during the ‘crash and burn’.
Come to the Guitar Center in Des Moines, I’ll jam with you.
It's hilarious how hard it is to give people free stuff.
Corporatism has made us devalue our worth as human beings. We are told we are moochers if we get anything for free and judged if we accept it, even if we need it to survive.
@@SophiaAphrodite I was not prepared for an existential crisis to come out of this comment, but here we are...
@@JJASalazar Its the truth. We are being wired to believe that taking something for free is the same as being lazy and not working hard for it even when it's truly something you need such as health care.
I think a lot of people are just worried they might be getting something weird. I don't think it's as deep as y'all are trying to make it. Like this random really friendly guy is trying really hard to get rid of his instruments. Doesn't really make sense. Could come off kinda creepy like a door-to-door salesperson
Everyone's looking into it too deep. I'd feel bad about getting something expensive for free.
Rob is just an aggressively wholesome dude. What a stand up guy.
I see that 86!
chaotic good!
Rob is such a good person. I'm so glad that he's successful
idk how some people just don’t cry, i would fr shed a tear if i was given any kind of guitar
the guitar center part really HURT. Literally I'm so broke rn that I can't buy an electric guitar and there, there were people who didn't want a free one
Truth is, in a world full of scammers, back-alley dealers and out-in-the-daylight thieves, we cannot know who to trust. You might go up to someone hoping this is genuine only to learn they want something from you. I can understand why Rob had problems finding a willing soul to take a step. This is how this world is right now...
@@HunGredy Very true. Remind me of a personal story, before leaving Amsterdam I had extra that I obviously could not take with me, heard a couple in the Coffee Shop talking my language and went up to them to give them. They just would not even look me in the eye and seemed really uncomfortable. Took me a second to realize why and did not push it, I just left my surplus on the counter for whoever to take.
I have a bunch of guitars. If someone offered me a free guitar I would totally pass so some kid like you could get it. I was there once too. I’m lucky enough now to have every amp and guitar i want. I would consider it bad karma to accept the gift.
@@Ottophil I agree as well as I have several too. I would want it to go to someone who could really use it. I also would like to think I would have had the courage to play with Rob if I ever walked into a Guitar Center and he was there.
@@SophiaAphrodite i got on stage with green day in 1998 and played a song, so yeah, rob wouldnt scare me one bit
Damn, Renee spent the entire day learning how to do that soul grind just so he could get a guitar for his wife. Not even for himself. That man's wife better appreciate the hell out of him, he seems like a good dude
Haven't seen one of Rob's videos in a long time and he throws out this gem. Sad that the ghost fret was given away but at the same time, such a wholesome video.
Props to Rene! That guy was killing it!
"I'm note a creep, my mom's here"

"I don't understand well, this guitar is mine now?" This guy's smile is one of the most genuinely happy surprised things I've seen. So wholesome.
The “I’m keeping that forever dude at 3:07“ melted my heart.
I just caught this video on a Facebook rollerblade group and it literally made me tear up.. thank you for being a good person. I know that depression and loneliness is real though, but you’re so positive in this video, and going after what makes you happy, and giving people stuff made you happy. This video warms my soul. As a drummer who rollerblades and has depression, you got my like and sub so quick from this video.. 👍
is nobody gonna talk about how twooba had an entire parking garage, and still parked too close to a car to open her door???

Rob teaching the guy to grind made me tear up. Just filmed so beautifully and the sky shows the amount of time Rob was willing to hang out with and help this dude. We don't deserve Rob, honestly.
Amazing guy

teaching the guy at the end to grind was probably one of the best things ive ever seen
i strive to be like you, rob, its always a smile when i see your videos
loved the skating bit. he looked so confident at the end, even got a little hop in there. from one coach/teacher to another...well done, sir.
I don't know Rob outside of his content, but if he's anything as wholesome as he seems... we should protect him at all costs. Honestly the man should have secret service.
enviable people skills honestly. he's friendly without being overbearing, sensitive without being sappy, funny but not outrageous, etc. i think i'm in love
He's awesome irl too. Met him in the american football nye show. One of the kindest person I've ever met
I was lucky enough to meet him at Sweetwater in 2019, and from the bit I got to talk to him, he was an absolutely awesome dude. Super kind and excited to meet people

I asked my mom to watch that part of the video with me, but she wouldn't fly over here.
Also, Rob... I love the way you teach. You were so patient and absolutely perfect while trying to get Renee to work up to the soulgrind! It is much harder than it looks for a new rollerblader. Great work. Wholesome content

I can you imagine the guys who didn't want to jam kicking themselves as they watch this video?!!
They might have been self conscious about their skill level and not want to be recorded. Me personally? There’s no way I would refuse that.
@@euclid9492 I can't play that well but my god I would of never turned down that opportunity. I am pretty good at improve so it would of been sick!
@@TheBanana93 Now all that's left is for you to work on your grammar :)
@@TheBanana93 Same. Improvising is probably my biggest strength with guitar. Mainly because my primary goal has always been to play whatever comes into my head instead of learning this or that specific song. So I’m always happy when someone wants to jam. I can pretty much do that now with any single note lines as well as “normal” chords that aren’t like Am7b13 or something. Then I have to do a little bit of analysis first.
I never took lessons or put the kind of effort necessary to be a great player, but I would definitely have laid down some power chords for him.
What a remarkably kind thing to do. Acknowledging those that touched and honored you, and just being an amazing human being and paying it forward. Love and respect brother. Oh, and thanks for introducing me to Twooba!!!
Dude I gotta give you PROPS for this video. It's amazing seeing you connect so deeply with complete strangers. Like, sure, you were giving things away, but that last dude on the skates! I feel like you genuinely made his month. Not ONLY did he get a completely badass guitar, but he also got to spend an hour shredding with you & learning how to soul grind. Soo epic! Keep spreading the good vibes man, it's awesome to see. :)
Honestly, the real treasure here is him teaching Rene how to soul grind, like keep the guitar at that point, thanks for the free lessons man.
I'm really jealous of René. He got to hang out with Rob, learnt a few tricks from him, and took home a beautifull instrument at the end.
I'm crying watching this video. Over the years I've had to sell all of my instruments and I now tell people "I use to be a musician". It's so heartwarming to see you give the gift of music. Perhaps one day I'll be able to afford another rig and start playing again.
Hey man get a squire. It's really affordable and decently built.
This difficult time too shall pass!!
Aw man, the very thought of getting anything as high quality as these instruments for free blows my mind, but then I realise that meeting and jamming with Rob would be more worth it. Also, we're kinda maxed out on space in our tiny home!
I'd love to jam with more people of this level of talent. I think jamming above your station raises your game and levelling up, per se, is always a great feeling. Also, it's possible to discover that, by jamming with higher level players, you might be more adept than you think.
I'm on my 48th solar orbit and I love learning new things and one thing I wish I learned in the late '80s was to stick to a practice regimen and not leave gaps of months or years between playing. I own a Schechter Omen, a P bass copy, a meh quality acoustic and my old 50th anniversary Squier Strat. My main focus in music has been in the digital domain and I did a soundtrack for a videogame called Disastr_Blastr.
Most of my tracks are electronic, but there are a few on there with guitars. One of my tracks is fully metal and I did the whole thing myself except play the drum patterns. I also took up Uke for a laugh, but love it, especially low G tuning.
Anyway, enough of the rambling. Quality stuff as usual. Toodle pip.
I was cheering for Rene so much in that whole process, big respect in the determination to clearly spend a big chunk of time learning a new trick to get a guitar for his wife!
You are so damn wholesome. Bringing your mom to make sure a young woman didn't feel uncomfortable was the nicest, most disarming thing ever! Really enjoy how much thought you put into this.
