A song about food or drink
A song that makes me cry

Can we shout out the engineer for keeping up with recording everything? Wouldn’t be a recording session unless Pro Tools crashes at least once
I think Rob has gotten used to it after four years. Preparing for utter chaos for 12 hours, once a year.
hey augnos!
I'm more surprised it made it that far in the day without crashing lolol
@@KidKat__ I love that its another rob

I cannot express the joy I felt after seeing that sound engineer Rob also went to Canada. It just wouldn't feel like a 1st of October session without him.
absolute facts
I was very scared for a moment that he wouldn’t be there
hes part of the band at this point
I concur
I mean, both Rob and Rob, (yes the engineers name is Rob as well), our friends.
I just realized that Scallon says "ok come on Andrew, we have 10 OTHER songs to write" during the first song, inadvertently predicting that they would be doing ELEVEN songs that day!
I love how (Recording) Rob went from "are you guys insane? This is a dumb idea" from the first album to "yes, I'm flying to Canada with you to record your new album".
TRUE LMAO. Dude is a champ
I mean… it went from him being shocked at how much they put in to them doing it a third time
I fucking love this band and they’ve only been together for 34 hours
Hmm? Isn't this the third year so shouldn't it be 46?? 🤔🤔
@@junielovesu Nah it's 34, they did 10 hours for the first album, then 12 hours for the 2nd and 3rd

The sound engineer's job is so diverse that it's crazy. Like, he's not just there to hit record. Or even just to make sure everything works the way it should. He's so a part of the creative process that when Rob is not happy with the song, he's there to help and reassure and keep driving the session forward. So shout out to the sound engineer, as always.
he's honestly just as important in this video
My words
I worked a little in recording studios. To me, you've described the difference between an engineer and a producer. Love a good engineer, but when you get a solid producer who's on the exact same creative page as you, it's something special.
The fact that a FoO video was what got them together in the first place is just so fitting. Rob is a boss for sure.
Agreed. It was cool when he suggested recording the vocals before the solo so not to waste time.
Recorder Rob deserves a grammy for the infinite patience and his input on the album.
New category: Grammy for best 10-track album recorded in one day.
Attention fellow FoO listeners: The effect used on the song "Temporary" is the Banana Effects Mandala glitch pedal. Please pass this on.
Yup.

This video series literally fixed the weird anxiety that I had about writing music. I always felt like, I don’t know, anything I wrote had to be profound or special or else it wasn’t worth recording.
Now I write and record music a lot, even if it’s just some silly nonsense. Not to prove anything to anyone, but just because it’s fun and I love doing it.
Thank you both for this.
I find that the most compelling music is actually the ones that are simple, funny and straight to the point. Ones that are easy to write, even funny ones. My band has a lot of hilarious songs that were eventually turned into serious tracks
I feel the exact same way, definitely something I need to get over
Definitely,If you're having fun and you genuinely like what you've written whether it's simple or complex, that's what matters the most.

Same here. I also put myself under a ton of pressure to be profound every time I write. But this series reminds me to just let loose, don’t overthink, and just let the ideas run wild

@@ileutur6863 and both styles are awesome! I'm glad to see the variety in their song writing.
I noticed I was more impressed with Andrew's guitar solos here than Rob's. Andrew really has those nice screaming high bends and vibrato nailed down with a lot of control.
I'm so used to seeing Andrew in a synthesizer and production context that it's easy to forget he's a brilliant multi-instrumentalist.
How much talent can one dude have?
12:23 the laughter is in sync and feels like a triumphant evil witch laugh ...which fits the Halloween vibe so well I am beyond words
I'm glad somebody else noticed lol. It was like something straight out of a rock opera!
It’s been said before, but these guys really should try being a “band”. Like sending each other their ideas and developing an album together over time? They seem to really enjoy the creative process and get each others’ styles!
To be fair, this probably works exactly because they are time limited. Guys like this often function best on their own because they are so creative - they are never done. But eh, idk. It would be really really cool!!

Honestly, a different tuning can be great for writers' block. You think about what you're playing differently.

I never thought about it like that, but yeah, they have been active for ~30 collective hours and they’re freaking amazing lol
Andrew is such a positive person. Everything Rob says, "Yes!"
I wanna see the whole uncut 12 hour process with pauses, the creative energy is insane.
Why is no one commenting on how much better Rob has gotten with his vocals?!? You can tell he's really put some effort in to nail those harmonies and backup vocals. Compare this to the previous albums and the difference is incredible

It's amazing watching Rob Ruccia's confidence in these two madmen, compared to his reaction to these guys back in 2018 on the first album. He's still got some of that "holy crap, we're doing what?" energy, but seems much more like he's enjoying bringing it all together.
i’d say here’s how it went down.

Second album, oh we’re doing this again? Cool.
Third album. Hell yeah!
you can tell that’s exactly how it went. The first album he gave off the energy of what the hell are we doing? Second album he was starting to get used to it and kind of enjoying himself, but still in the middle. Third album he was like yes! This is awesome, and fun, and I love it! I mean, he did have moments of enjoying himself on the second album, but he was still in the middle. It wasn’t until album 3 where he finally was like OK, I’m enjoying this.

This is AMAZING! I read a comment that said "Imagine if they had a week to do this." I think that the magic comes from the authentic, random inspiration of creation. Its Organic, but not Vegan. Free Forming, as opposed to forced creativity. The time constraints force natural, organic deviation. A pleasure to watch you all work!
Can you imagine what Rob and Andrew could achieve if they had an entire week to do this? The end result would probably eclipse almost everything else out there. I could hear the heavy Weezer influence in some of these tracks, and a little bit of Cake too.

@@AMTunLimited 100% agree with you
Weezer... i can hear it but its way more Primus if you ask me. I have to agree with the other lads though, the beauty/excellence of the sound comes from the chaos of a short schedule. To add more time would make them be too freeing and not come up woth anything as genius
