*product update - the final production model is 32% carbon and 68% glass which was favored to increase land ratio. All other specs remain the same.
Wondering how this compares to the rebellion and the old combat stick in weight and sensitivity.
Do you guys see this as the new development for Chatterbait rods into the future? And would this rod be suitable shallow to medium crankbaits?
I had the pleasure of holding one of these at the Bassmaster classic this past year! They are super SICKKKK!!!! Trust me you will not be disappointed even at the current price point. It’s super light weight compared to original combat stick jackhammer rod.
Thank you for your feedback 🍻
They need to put those hats into production!
True story
This rod is pretty freaking SWEET. Played with it at the Classic and was really impressed. Love the grips and how much lighter it is. The color is definitely fire.
What’s with all the negative comments! Just feel the rod, if you like it buy it! If not move on and continue to use the chatterbait rod you currently use. We get it it’s not for some but no need to cry and complain about a price if you aren’t buying one anyway!! 💯
hell Im thinking of buying the NRX+ chatterbait rod 🤦🏻
The wait is finally over !!!! I’ll be out to the shop soon …
Brett is one chatterbait throwing dude!
When is the spinning rod version of this gonna be available!?
I fish the original rod all day without issue. Not sure how this would be an issue if it’s lighter.
Pretty cool, looking into forward to seeing more of it.
He mentioned in the video that this early model was low modulus graphite which gives it the parabolic flex. Is low modulus graphite more or less expensive than high modulus graphite?
Looks like as nice rod. However, kind of strange offering at 6.9 oz, I have glass models that weigh less. Is it maybe a weight balancer in the end? The Low modulus rod is weird to hear him say when everything is geared toward high modulus.. I get you need the more moderate action but when I hear low modulus I am thinking 24 ton or IM6 under $50 rod.
Exactly
That rod is light as a feather and soft for a graphite rod. I handled it in the shop the other day. Its super cool but i have zero confidence in the chatterbait. I just dont get bit on it. If you are a chatterbait guy or girl, youll probably love it.
I live and die by the chatterbait, but I'll never throw it on a glass rod. I'll never use a glass rod for anything, I absolutely can't stand them.
@@Milehighsnake98May I ask why? Is it the noodle feeling or weight?
@@europeanian4205 It's both, actually. The rod I started throwing a chatterbait on was fairly noodl-y, but not like glass. I like a more moderate-fast taper, like a traditional spinnerbait rod. But since it's a stout jig hook, I like having a solid backbone to get into, and a carbon fiber/graphite blank has a better backbone than glass, and it's lighter.
This comment section is so sad…let’s not listen to the guy who’s consider editing the best chatterbait fisherman ever… because we know better then him!!! Lol
Everyone wants to put it on a scale and balance it on their finger. The rods performance doesn’t matter any more 🤷🏼♂️
@@thehookuptackle_usacracks me up when people complain about a rods weight and focus where the rod balances above the reel instead of using the equipment. Weight doesn’t matter as long as the rod balances well. 🤦🏻♂️. “What do you mean I have to hold an extra 1.2oz??? It can’t be good quality then”. On a side note this rod looks so slick. Love my jackhammer rod couldn’t imagine this one being better. But i believe it. Ha
I prefer the OG old jackhammer rod better. It's a nice rod and all but that old one is the cake.
How does it compare to st croix legend glass?
Hey guys this is a little off topic, but I was hoping you would do me a solid? I bought a NZ Crawler from you over the winter and went night fishing recently and tried it out for the first time. I would appreciate if you could tell me the size of the rear hook on the Jr. size. I need to replace mine because I caught a big a$$ owl and had to cut it out of its foot.
I might have made a half dozen casts with it when a big shape glided in then banked over my bait. I was like, that was a big owl! I made another casts and the owl swooped in again. I was not having that at 3 am so I racked my rod and cruised about 400 yds down the lake. 2 casts later I am reeling an owl out of the sky.
( You guys never mentioned that it catches owls! JK.🙃)
That’s crazy. I had a river otter eat a spy bait last fall. I was throwing it on an NRX 901 and that thing was just doubled over and my line was peeling off. Eventually it went under a couple of docks and tried to get on top of one, at which point my 8lb leader finally broke. Poor guy. I hope he got the hooks out.
Too bad Daiwa doesn’t make the Tatula Type-R anymore. That red would be sick paired with this rod
Hard choice between this one or one of his new green combat sticks ..... i have the 7'3" heavy glass and for years its been my go to for chatters. the 7'3" super combat is .5 ozs lighter than the model i have but now im not sure what the weight is on the new green combat sticks. With the new combat stick i could go for a 6'8" heavy glass instead of the 7'3" with the super and what i use now. Is .5 ozs the only real diffrence in the super, plus 250 dollars more of course. Anyone had their hands on any by chance
Looks nice but they could've been a little more creative with the name lol. Plus tips from the master(chatter)baiter himself 😅
Where can I get that hat?
How would that rod be for throwing a frog?
Not a good frog rod
$450 for a almost 7oz rod? If this was still glass then I can see the heavier wait, but not with graphite. I was pretty interested watching this vid until I saw that. IMO with the weight this rod shouldn't have jumped $200 in price point without a huge weight cut.
I guess I'll have to stick with picking up a Expride BV 7'2 MH-G this fall... the A was so good.
It is glass. It was updated in the final production run 👍. Still on the heavier side but by design. 🍻
I use an Edge First strike CBR-806 rod. Perfect for chatters
Hope it’s lighter than the evergreen combat stick that was made for the jackhammer
The Serval it's still lighter
Lost me at $450! Stick with the 1st gen…
There will still be a $200 option in the new lineup also. This is a new high end option if you want something more refined.
What a joke this pricing is I hope they don’t sell a single rod for that price
I bought one lol
Americans should stop revamping JDM rods you guys just make it so dam ugly
Ain’t no way they think 7oz is a good weight 💀💀💀 ima stick with my 4oz glass Expride
Cool 👍. Expride is a solid option if weight is your primary concern 🍻
@@thehookuptackle_usa alright, real question now. How would this compare with the considerably cheaper Tatula elite glass rod? They’re both sold with that new Glatech term and Fuji guides.
Cowabunga mate.!
Throw sum shimp on da barbie…
@@swamp_rat_fla1126 Fair Dinkum mate.!
Seems heavy? The old jackhammer rod was a complete brick in hand. I’ve heard the leopard was not. It could be a winner but I’ve gotta hold one and preferably mount a reel on one
It’s not the lightest rod. But like the original if it lands fish better then a little extra weight is no problem 👍
Micro guides?
MERCI .
196 grams! Balanced? For $500 this is a joke. Not to mention the ACS real seat.
Same ballpark as a 71H Valkyrie (half ounce more), which is very well balanced. I'd wait to get this rod in hand; it could be sick. Agree on ACS seat though.
$449 not to bad
For 450.00......at least we get a sexy red reel seat.
why shouldnt you throw a chatter bait on a spinner reel
?
Nah
$450 for a 7oz rod is steep. The G Loomis IMX Bladed Jig rod is considered THE chatterbait rod by the angling community. It's cheaper than this by a little bit, but that's the thing. Why go with Evergreen, with their history of snapped rods and horrible customer service?
I’m pretty in touch with the angling community - I don’t know a single person using the IMX 🤣. I’ve also sold Evergreen Rods since they’ve been a thing, and it’s one of the least broken rods we take in. So 🤷🏼♂️
What community are u talking about???
@@thehookuptackle_usa I guess the Tacticalbassin guys don't know what they're talking about when it comes to chatterbait rods. Maybe, all the reviews of broken rods and horrible customer sevoce on several online tackle shops are just made up. $200-300 is my price point for a rod and I seriously considered the original combat stick. It was just to heavy for my liking even at the original price point. If their going to go with a high end rod why not just import the original leapord line of rods?
@@gstixfishing9746 definitely not JDM community
@@TheSonoranDesertGrower just because it’s out of ur price range didn’t mean u have to try to bash it… it’s just not the rod for u and as far as tactical basing goes those guys are great fisherman for sure but I’m willing to bet if evergreen offered them some money they would say it’s the greatest rod ever!!
$450 for a 6.9oz graphite rod. No thanks
Shakespeare GX2 ugly stick is lighter than that and has a parabolic bend for 50 bucks lol get the hell out of here
Same ballpark (half ounce more) as a 71H Valkyrie, which is a super sick rod. Open your mind.
@@jvlehr forgive me but I own some p5's and some NRX and NRX Plus, some St Croix etc. And I simply am not a consumer for a rod at this price tag with this amount of weight to it. Just my personal opinion
@@jvlehr All of my arsenal that I regularly fish with are sub 4.2 oz
Weight is certainly a factor when buying a new rod. If that’s the deciding point for you this will not be a good option, like you said. But it’s also not what Evergreen was going for with this rod. While it’s certainly lighter than the previous Jackhammer rod, it’s still a big rod by design. It won’t be right for everyone - just like the previous model 👍
That guy made me feel like a woman. What a chad #nohomo
