This is the exact question I've had on my mind. I think the 1/4 oz. Mini-Chatterbait is also a very innovative, especially for a northern angler like me. However, I've wanted some advice on the optimal conditions for the downsized lure.
ua-cam.com/video/DUEShw5ooFs/v-deo.html i throw micro chatterbaits which are 1/8th oz on bfs gear and 2.5-3” swimbait or craw trailers all the time and catch tanks on them 🤙🏽
Very cool, we've been wondering how they perform for trout. Are you fishing stocked or wild trout? Curious how native trout respond to small ChatterBaits.
@@Wired2Fish all wild trout in streams, some lakes are put&take and some are naturally reproducing. They seem about the same in how they fish. Aggressive erratic retrieves are by far the better option with the flashback mini. I take the plastic off of them and replace them immediately with another soft plastic. Either a 2c pearl power minnow, or a Berkley mousetail has Incredible action.
I have a tackle box full of them. I love the mini max pro and the original jackhammer. Shop around you can find them cheap. I use a Jordan Lee chatterbait rod, lews reel, 6:5:1, and I use black braid with a fluorocarbon leader or straight fluorocarbon line 14-20 lb line.
The chatterbait is an absolutely amazing lure. I throw it at night. Blue and black original chatterbait, 1/2 ounce with no trailer in about 12 feet of water and get one 3 pound largemouth after another. A steady retrieve is all you need in this case.
Hmmm, I'm wondering what a leftover scrap of a stickbait cut lengthwise will do skewered on chatter monkey will do. Maybe rigging it so the flat cut side is down?
Been using the Zodias 9:02 7’6” mh glass with a 6:1 Metanium mgl has been a pretty good combo imo. I have a pile of jackhammers and zero stealth blades When I find some on sale I’ll buy a few and see what I come up with.
That looks nothing like the Combat Stick's that are available to the public. So either Brett has his own special one that doesn't weigh 10 pounds lol or are they coming out with new ones?
That shouldn't be an issue under normal circumstances, especially if you use a heavier model like the 1/2- and 3/4-ounce. That said, I had a buddy fishing one with me and he had his knot tied to the wrong side of the ChatterBait, which caused it to plane and come to the surface.
Good eye. We just checked with B Hite. The link in the description is to the currently avail Evergreen Combat Stick but they have the new one that Brett used coming soon.
I bought some chatterbaits, different brands and sizes but I cant get a damn bite on one of these to save my life. I haven't tried a clear blade due to the cost🤑 not knocking, just say'n
@@mbreto1 new bait for me. Ive had a couple of small ones in my box for years and just never used them. I'll have to just stick with it a day and get some time with it
haven't fished there with a mini max yet, but I do use that trailer on mine and it's like candy for smallies and somewhat picky largemouth, got a pond that I can barely buy a bite on lately with anything else, mini max got me a 4 pounder today which is the biggest I've pulled out of here in years.
With a boat and trolling motor you can glide in and retrieve it. There is also a lute retriever you send down the line. Last ditch effort, you can pull line off the spool and run the entire rod and reel but that's real risky.
Stealth blade has always been my favorite chatterbait. I feel very few people around me use it.
This is crappie catching machine for me especially April-May. I use a Kalins Lunker grub as a trailer. Sometimes I contrast colors and it works well.

Thanks! Several of our staff are located in MN and we too love the ChatterBait Mini Max. Works excellently for clear water smallmouth.

I love my micro size 1/16th chatterbait with a bobby Garland as a trailer. Absolutly kills em
Kinda the Ned rig of ChatterBaits I guess?
@@Wired2Fish ua-cam.com/video/DUEShw5ooFs/v-deo.html the micros catch tanks 🤘🏽
I run the 1/8th micro and the new chatterbait flashback mini in 1/16 oz for smallest and trout. Hard to beat.

Got several of the stealth chatterbaits. Never got a bite on any of them. Just this a swim jig. BTW, I do like a chatterbait.

A bunch discounted on ebay right now
In clear water it’s my go to chatterbait with a semi translucent trailer.

I agree. My Combat stick is heavy as heck. It is a good rod in heavy weeds, but mostly I fish the chatterbait in clear water.
Why every time I use a charter bait it always rise to the surface won't staydeep?

Is that a new evergreen rod it's not the same as the one on tackle warehouse? Thanks

If I want to be stealthier I will throw a swim jig
Perfect save these for me
😁😁
Anyone know what sunglasses those are?
Nice rod, what is...?🤔?
Hi, it's the Evergreen Combat Stick Casting Rod. 7'3' Heavy: rb.gy/f4rqf
I need to throw that bait more. I never think of it.
If you can’t feel the stealth blade or mini max in your rod, you are using too heavy of a rod

Maybe I need one of these finesse rigs😑🤑
Find wind blown banks and throw it tight to cover youll get bit

Throw that trailer on the mini max!! Money 💵 at the lake of the Ozarks! Don’t tell anyone…

I fuggin hate that thing. U have to keep popping the rod to get it to start chattering again all the time. It's so inconsistent.
I don't think I've ever heard anyone recommend the stealth chatterbait outside of promo videos. Just doesn't seem to be a good bait.
If i got free jackhammers i suppoose i would fish them in trees too.
